In this paper, we investigate minimal scalar leptoquark models that dynamically generate neutrino Majorana masses at the one-loop level and examine their implications for low-energy processes. We show that these models can produce viable neutrino masses, consistent with neutrino oscillation and cosmological data. By using leptoquark couplings fixed by neutrino data, we predict additional contributions to neutrinoless double-beta decays ($0νββ$), which are chirality enhanced and compete with the standard contributions from the Majorana masses. Our analysis demonstrates that these effects are sizable for leptoquark masses as large as $\mathcal{O}(300~\mathrm{TeV})$, potentially increasing or decreasing the $0νββ$ half-life, and creating an ambiguity between the normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. Furthermore, we explore the correlation between $0νββ$ and flavor observables, such as kaon decays and $μ\to e$ conversion in nuclei, emphasizing that the latter is complementary to $0νββ$ decays.

Motivated by the long-standing discrepancy in lepton flavor universality ratios $R_D$ and $R_{D^{\ast}}$ we assess the status of scalar leptoquark states $R_2$, $\widetilde R_2$ and $S_1$ which can in principle provide a desired enhancement of $\mathcal{B}(B\to D^{(\ast )}τν)$ in a minimal setup with two Yukawa couplings only. We consider unavoidable low-energy constraints, $Z$-pole measurements as well as high-$p_T$ constraints. After setting mass of each leptoquark to $1.5$ TeV we find that of all considered states only $S_1$ leptoquark, coupled to both chiralities of leptons and quarks, is still a completely viable solution while the scenario with $R_2$ is in growing tension with $Γ(Z \to ττ)$ and with the LHC constraints on the di-tau tails at high-$p_T$. We comment on the future experimental tests of $S_1$ scenario.

The recent Belle II observation of $B \to K E_{\rm miss}$ challenges theoretical interpretations in terms of Standard Model neutrino final states. Instead, we consider new physics scenarios where up to two new light-invisible particles of spin 0 up to 3/2 are present in the final state. We identify viable scenarios by reconstructing the (binned) likelihoods of the relevant $B \to K^{(*)} E_{\rm miss}$ and also $B_s \to E_{\rm miss}$ experimental analyses and present preferred regions of couplings and masses. In particular, we find that the current data prefers two-body decay kinematics involving the emission of a single massive scalar or a vector particle, or alternatively, three-body decays involving pairs of massive scalars or spin 1/2 fermions. When applicable, we compare our findings with existing literature and briefly discuss some model-building implications.

We assess proton decay signatures in the simplest viable $SU(5)$ model with regard to constraints on parameters governing the Standard Model fermion mass spectrum. Experimental signals for all eight two-body proton decay processes result from exchange of two gauge bosons, a single scalar leptoquark, or their combination. Consequently, it enables us to delve into an in-depth anatomy of proton decay modes and anticipate future signatures. Our findings dictate that observing a proton decay into $p\toπ^0e^+$ indicates gauge boson mediation, with the potential for observation of $p\toη^0e^+$ mode. Alternatively, if decay is through $p\to K^+\overlineν$ process, it is mediated by a scalar leptoquark, possibly allowing the observation of $p\toπ^0μ^+$. Detection of both $p\toπ^0 e^+$ and $p\to K^+\overlineν$ could enhance $p\toπ^0μ^+$ through constructive interference. The model predicts inaccessibility of $p\toπ^+\overlineν$, $p\toη^0μ^+$, $p\to K^0e^+$, and $p\to K^0μ^+$, regardless of the dominant mediation type, in the coming decades. In summary, through a comprehensive analysis of proton decay signals, gauge coupling unification, and fermion masses and mixing, we precisely constrain the parameter space of the $SU(5)$ model in question.

Physics of the up-type flavour offers unique possibilities of testing the Standard Model (SM) compared to the down-type flavour sector. Here, we discuss SM and New Physics (NP) contributions to the rare charm-meson decay $ D^0 \to π^+ π^- \ell^+ \ell^- $. In particular, we discuss the effect of including the lightest scalar isoscalar resonance in the SM picture, namely, the $f_0 (500)$, which manifests in a big portion of the allowed phase space. Other than showing in the total branching ratio at an observable level of about $ 20\% $, the $f_0 (500)$ resonance manifests as interference terms with the vector resonances, such as at high invariant mass of the leptonic pair in distinct angular observables. Recent data from LHCb optimize the sensitivity to $P$-wave contributions, that we analyse in view of the inclusion of vector resonances. We propose the measurement of alternative observables which are sensitive to the $S$-wave and are straightforward to implement experimentally. This leads to a new set of null observables, that vanish in the SM due to its gauge and flavour structures. Finally, we study observables that depend on the SM interference with generic NP contributions from semi-leptonic four-fermion operators in the presence of the $S$-wave.

We explore CP-violating (CPV) effects of heavy New Physics in flavour-changing quark dipole transitions, within the framework of Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). First, we establish the relevant dimension six operators and consider the Renormalisation Group (RG) evolution of the appropriate Wilson coefficients. We investigate RG-induced correlations between different flavour-violating processes and electric dipole moments (EDMs) within the Minimal Flavour Violating and $U(2)^3$ quark flavour models. At low energies, we set bounds on the Wilson coefficients of the dipole operators using CPV induced contributions to observables in non-leptonic and radiative $B$, $D$ and $K$ decays as well as the neutron and electron EDMs. This enables us to connect observable CPV effects at low energies and general NP appearing at high scales. We present bounds on the Wilson coefficients of the relevant SMEFT operators at the high scale $Λ= 5~{\rm TeV}$, and discuss most sensitive CPV observables for future experimental searches.

Using an effective Lagrangian approach, we relate the decay widths of $N\to \ell γ$ to the decay widths of $N\to \ell π$. Our result points out factor $10^{3}$ suppression of the decay widths $Γ(p \to \ell^{+} γ)$ and $Γ(n \to \bar νγ)$ compared to the decay widths $Γ(p \to \ell^{+} π^{0})$ and $Γ(n \to \bar νπ^{0})$, respectively. This result is independent of the model of new physics. Then, we investigate the dynamics of $N\to \ell π$ and $N\to \ell γ$ amplitudes at the tree and loop level in which scalar leptoquarks are mediators of a new interaction. At the tree level, leptoquarks probe the physics beyond the Standard Model at a scale of $10^{16}$ GeV, while at the loop level, such decay can occur at a scale of $10^{7}$ GeV.

We update the analysis of its parameter space and show that a model remains viable and consistent with a number of low energy and high energy flavor physics constraints. Since the model predicts a non-zero New Physics phase, we discuss the possibility to test its contribution to the neutron electric dipole moment and to the angular distributions of the exclusive $b\to cτ\bar ν$ decays. We find that the model can provide a significant enhancement to $\mathcal{B}(B\to K^{(\ast)}νν)$ and provides both the upper and lower bounds to $\mathcal{B}(B\to K^{(\ast)}μτ)$.

We demonstrate that the one-loop level topology is much more relevant than the tree-level one when it comes to the proton decay signatures despite the usual loop-suppression factor. We subsequently present detailed analysis of the triple-leptoquark interaction effects on the proton stability within one representative scenario to support our claim, where the scenario in question simultaneously features a tree-level topology that yields three-body proton decay $p\to e^+ e^+ e^-$ and a one-loop level topology that induces two-body proton decays $p\to π^0 e^+$ and $p\to π^+ \barν$. We also provide a comprehensive list of the leading-order proton decay channels for all non-trivial cubic and quartic contractions involving three scalar leptoquark multiplets that generate triple-leptoquark interactions of our interest, where in the latter case one of the scalar multiplets is the Standard Model Higgs doublet.

We discuss correlations among $B \to K^{(*)} ν\bar ν$ and $K\to πν\bar ν$ branching ratios in the case of linear Minimal Flavour Violation and in a more general framework, highlighting in each case the role played by various New Physics scenarios proposed to explain $b\to sμμ$ deviations. The coloured scalar $\bar S_1\equiv (\bar 3, 1, -2/3)$, due to its coupling to weak singlets up-quarks and invisible right-handed fermions ($χ$), is particularly interesting. Then, we consider $\tilde R_2 \equiv (\bar 3, 2, 1/6)$, which as a weak doublet is a subject of severe low-energy constraints. The $χ$ mass is considered in the range $(m_K - m_π)/2\leq m_χ\leq (m_D - m_π)/2$. We determine branching ratios for $D\to χ\bar χ$, $D\to χ\bar χγ$ and $D\to πχχ$ for several $χ$ masses, using most constraining bounds. For $\bar S_1$, the most constraining is $D^0 -\bar D^0$ mixing, while in the case of $\tilde R_2$ the strongest constraint comes from $B\to K {\it missing\, energy}$ . We find in decays mediated by $\bar S_1$ that branching ratios can be $\mathcal B(D\to χ\bar χ)< 10^{-8}$ for $m_χ=0.8$ GeV, $\mathcal B(D\to χ\bar χγ) \sim 10^{-8}$ for $m_χ=0.18$ GeV, while $\mathcal B(D^+ \to π^+ χ\bar χ)$ can reach $ \sim 10^{-8}$ for $m_χ=0.18$ GeV. In the case of $\tilde R_2$ these decay rates are very suppressed. We find that future tau-charm factories and Belle II experiments offer good opportunities to search for such processes. Both $\bar S_1$ and $\tilde R_2$ might have masses within LHC reach.

We investigate nucleon decays to light invisible fermion mediated by the coloured scalar $\bar S_1= (\bar 3, 1, -2/3)$ and compare them with the results coming from the mediation of $S_1 = (\bar 3,1,1/3)$. In the case of $\bar S_1= (\bar 3, 1, -2/3)$ up-like quarks couple to the invisible fermion, while in the case of $S_1 = (\bar 3,1,1/3)$ the down-like quarks couple to the invisible fermion. For the mass of invisible fermion smaller than the mass $m_p - m_K$, proton (neutron) can decay to $K$ and invisible fermion and the masses of $\bar S_1$ and $S_1$ are in the region $\sim 10^{15}$ GeV. The decays of nucleons to pions and invisible fermion can occur at the tree-level, but in the case of $\bar S_1$ they come from dimension-9 operator and are therefore suppressed by several orders of magnitude compared to the decays into kaons. For the invisible fermion mass in the range $(937.8 \, {\rm MeV},\, 938.8 \, {\rm MeV})$, decay of neutron $n \toχγ$ induced by $\bar S_1$ is possible at the loop level, while the proton remains stable. The branching ratio of such decay is $\le 10^{-6}$, which does not explain neutron decay anomaly, but is in agreement with the Borexino experiment bound. We comment on low-energy processes with the nucleon-like mass of $χ$ in the final state as $Λ\to χγ$ and heavy hadron decays to invisibles.

We show that this asymmetry is enhanced around the peak of each $c\bar c$-resonance, and in fact more pronounced in the close vicinity of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$. Therefore, measuring $\mathcal{A}_\mathrm{CP}$ before and after the resonances' peak could be revelatory of the CP-violation that originates from beyond the Standard Model, or to be a significant constrain when building a realistic scenario of New Physics.

We investigate all potentially viable scenarios that can produce the chiral enhancement required to simultaneously explain the $(g-2)_{e}$ and $(g-2)_μ$ data with either a single scalar leptoquark or a pair of scalar leptoquarks. We provide classification of these scenarios in terms of their ability to satisfy the existing limits on the branching ratio for the $μ\to e γ$ process. The simultaneous explanation of the $(g-2)_{e,μ}$ discrepancies, coupled with the current experimental data, implies that the $(g-2)_e$ loops are exclusively due to the charm quark propagation whereas the $(g-2)_μ$ loops are due to the top quark propagation. The scenarios where the $(g-2)_e$ loops are due to the top (bottom) quark propagation are, at best, approximately nine (three) orders of magnitude away from the experimental limit on the $μ\to e γ$ branching ratio. All in all, there are only three particular scenarios that can pass the $μ\to e γ$ test and simultaneously create large enough impact on the $(g-2)_{e,μ}$ discrepancies when the new physics is based on the Standard Model fermion content. These are the $S_1$, $R_2$, and $S_1 \& S_3$ scenarios, where the first two are already known to be phenomenologically viable candidates with respect to all other flavor and collider data constraints. We show that the third scenario, where the right-chiral couplings to charged leptons are due to $S_1$, the left-chiral couplings to charged leptons are due to $S_3$, and the two leptoquarks mix through the Standard Model Higgs field, cannot address the $(g-2)_{e}$ and $(g-2)_μ$ discrepancies at the $1σ$ level due to an interplay between $K_L^0 \to e^\pm μ^\mp$, $Z \to e^+ e^-$, and $Z \to μ^+ μ^-$ data despite the ability of that scenario to avoid the $μ\to e γ$ limit.

The observed muon anomalous magnetic moment deviates from the Standard Model predictions. There are two scalar leptoquarks with simultaneous couplings to the quark-muon pairs of both chiralities that can singly explain this discrepancy. We discuss an alternative mechanism that calls for the mixing of two scalar leptoquarks of the same electric charge through the interaction with the Higgs field, where the two leptoquarks separately couple to the quark-muon pairs of opposite chirality structures. Three scenarios that satisfy this requirement are $S_1\,\&\, {S}_3$, $\widetilde{S}_1\,\&\, S_3$, and $\widetilde{R}_2\,\&\, R_2$, where the first scenario is realised with the up-type quarks running in the loops while the other two scenarios proceed through the down-type quark loops. We introduce only two non-zero Yukawa couplings to the relevant quarks and a muon, at the time, to study ability of these three scenarios to explain $(g-2)_μ$ and be in accord with available experimental constraints. We find that the $S_1\,\&\, {S}_3$ scenario with the top-quark loops is consistent with all existing measurements. The $\widetilde{S}_1\,\&\, S_3$ and $\widetilde{R}_2\,\&\, R_2$ scenarios can accommodate the observed discrepancy through the bottom-quark loops but exhibit significant tension with the existing data on the high-$p_T$ dilepton-tails at LHC for the required values of Yukawa couplings and leptoquark masses.

We study the phenomenology of two leptoquarks, the Standard Model $SU(2)$ singlets $S_1$ and $U_1$, with regard to the latest experimental data from the low-energy flavor physics measurements, LHC, and the IceCube neutrino experiment. We consider a scenario when scalar (vector) leptoquark $S_1$ ($U_1$) couples exclusively to the down quark and the neutrinos (charged leptons) of all flavors, where the leptoquark in question couples to the SM lepton doublets. The couplings of $S_1$ ($U_1$) to the up-type quarks and the charged leptons (neutrinos) are in turn uniquely determined via $SU(2)$ symmetry. We find that the most important constraints on the leptoquark parameter space originate from flavor physics measurements, followed by the LHC search limits that take over the flavor physics ones in the large LQ mass regime. We furthermore show that $S_1$ ($U_1$) marginally improves (spoils) the fit of the current IceCube data with respect to the SM case within the region of parameter space that is otherwise consistent with various low-energy flavor physics measurements and the latest LHC input. Our study offers an up-to-date analysis for these two leptoquarks in view of the latest experimental data.

We consider experimental constraints in the MeV region in order to determine the parameter space for the $U(1)_X$ extension of the Standard Model, presented in the first part of our work. In particular, we focus on the model UV-completed by cold WIMPs. We conclude that the electron anomalous magnetic moment, the neutrino trident production and the relic abundance $Ω_{CDM}$ provide the most stringent bounds and, in particular cases, they are sufficient to exclude dark-photon ($A'$) models. By allowing the axial-vector coupling of the dark gauge boson $Z'$, the interference effect with the SM gauge bosons may reduce the bounds coming from the trident neutrino production. At the same time, such coupling allows a region of the parameter space already favored both by the relic abundance and by the discrepancy between experimental result and theoretical prediction for the muon anomalous magnetic moment. We emphasize that light-$Z'$ interactions, non-universal for the two first lepton families, necessarily create a difference in the proton charge radius measured in the Lamb shift of the $e$-hydrogen and $μ$-hydrogen. Finally, we determine the effects of the new gauge boson on the forward-backward asymmetry in $e^+ e^- \rightarrow \bar{f} f$, $f = μ, τ$, and on the leptonic decays $M \rightarrow j ν_j l^+ l^-$, where $M = π, K, D, D_s, B$ and $j,l = e, μ$.

We examine theoretical features of $U(1)_X$ extensions of the Standard Model whose quantum anomalies are canceled per generation. Similarly to other versions, the theory consists of a Two-Higgs-Doublet Model plus a scalar singlet embedded into the $SM \otimes U(1)_X$ gauge group, and introduces small modifications to the $Z$-boson interactions. These changes can be minimized by exclusively charging right-handed fermions under the new Abelian symmetry, and are compensated by the neutral $X$-boson exchange. Non-universality of fermion couplings can also be achieved by requiring one single $X$-charged family. In general, $X$ gauge bosons can be separated into $A'$ (dark photons) and $Z'$ subsets, distinguished by the presence of axial-vector currents. $A'$ physics is commonly simpler to constrain and therefore favored by experimental tests. Finally, the model can be UV completed both by stable $χ$ fermions or by right-handed neutrinos. The prior case may provide cold WIMPs in the theory.

We document the extraordinary breadth of the HL/HE-LHC programme enabled by a putative Upgrade II of the dedicated flavour physics experiment LHCb and the evolution of the established flavour physics role of the ATLAS and CMS general purpose experiments. We connect the dedicated flavour physics programme to studies of the top quark, Higgs boson, and direct high-$p_T$ searches for new particles and force carriers. We discuss the complementarity of their discovery potential for physics beyond the Standard Model, affirming the necessity to fully exploit the LHC's flavour physics potential throughout its upgrade eras.

We present the physics program of the Belle II experiment, located on the intensity frontier SuperKEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. Belle II collected its first collisions in 2018, and is expected to operate for the next decade. It is anticipated to collect 50/ab of collision data over its lifetime. This book is the outcome of a joint effort of Belle II collaborators and theorists through the Belle II theory interface platform (B2TiP), an effort that commenced in 2014. The aim of B2TiP was to elucidate the potential impacts of the Belle II program, which includes a wide scope of physics topics: B physics, charm, tau, quarkonium, electroweak precision measurements and dark sector searches. It is composed of nine working groups (WGs), which are coordinated by teams of theorist and experimentalists conveners: Semileptonic and leptonic B decays, Radiative and Electroweak penguins, phi_1 and phi_2 (time-dependent CP violation) measurements, phi_3 measurements, Charmless hadronic B decay, Charm, Quarkonium(like), tau and low-multiplicity processes, new physics and global fit analyses. This book highlights "golden- and silver-channels", i.e. those that would have the highest potential impact in the field. Theorists scrutinised the role of those measurements and estimated the respective theoretical uncertainties, achievable now as well as prospects for the future. Experimentalists investigated the expected improvements with the large dataset expected from Belle II, taking into account improved performance from the upgraded detector.

The $ K \to πν\barν$ branching ratios are expected to be measured with $ \sim 10\% $ accuracies by NA62/CERN and KOTO/JPARC. The theoretical uncertainties of branching ratios within the SM are well under control. In the $ B $ sector, it is tentative to explain the $ B $-meson anomalies $ R_{D^{(\ast)}} $ and/or $ R_{K^{(\ast)}} $ by effects of physics beyond the SM. Although NP seems to be present in the third fermion generation it might also manifest in the flavor changing neutral current transition $ s \to d $. Together with the anticipated good experimental sensitivities and accurate theoretical predictions for $ K\to πν\bar ν$, this motivates studies of correlated effects of NP in rare $ K\to πν\bar ν$ and $ B \to K^{(*)} μ^+ μ^- $ decays. Here we consider the loop induced effects in $ K \to πν\barν$ in two leptoquark models designed to address lepton-flavor universality violation in the $ R_{K^{(\ast)}} $ anomalies.

The $B_s - \bar B_s$ transition gives the strong constraint on the coupling of the spin-2 mediator and $b$ and $s$ quarks while the observed discrepancy from the SM prediction for the muon anomalous magnetic moment $ (g-2)_μ$ serves us to constrain the $μ$-coupling to spin-2 particle. We find that the spin-2 particle can modify the angular observables in the $B \to K μ^+ μ^-$ and $B \to K^* μ^+ μ^-$ decays and produce effects which do not exist in the SM. The generated forward-backward asymmetries in these processes can reach $15\%$, while other observables for these decays receive tiny effects.

We investigate the ability of the $S_3$ scalar leptoquark to address the recent hints of lepton universality violation in $B$ meson decays. The $S_3$ leptoquark with quantum numbers $(\overline{\mathbf{3}},\mathbf{3},1/3)$ naturally emerges in the context of an $SU(5)$ GUT model without any conflict with the stringent limits from observed nucleon stability. Scalar leptoquark $S_3$ with left-handed couplings to 2nd and 3rd generations of charged leptons and down-type quarks seems well-suited to address both $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$. We quantify this suitability with numerical fits to a plethora of relevant flavor observables. The proposed $SU(5)$ model calls for a second leptoquark state, i.e., $\tilde{R}_2$ with quantum numbers $(\mathbf{3},\mathbf{2},1/6)$, if one is to generate gauge coupling unification and neutrino mass. We accordingly include it in our study to investigate $\tilde{R}_2$'s ability to offset adverse effects of $S_3$ and thus improve a quality of numerical fits. A global fit of the leptoquark Yukawa couplings shows that large couplings of light $S_3$ to $τ$ leptons are preferred. We furthermore identify $B \to K^{(*)} \barνν$ as the most sensitive channel to probe the preferred region of parameter space. Large couplings of $S_3$ to $τ$ leptons are finally confronted with the experimental searches for $τ$ final states at the Large Hadron Collider. These searches comprise a study of decay products of the leptoquark pair production, as well as, and more importantly, an analysis of the high-mass $ττ$ final states.

We demonstrate viability of the one-loop neutrino mass mechanism within the framework of grand unification when the loop particles comprise scalar leptoquarks (LQs) and quarks of the matching electric charge. This mechanism can be implemented in both supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric models and requires the presence of at least one LQ pair. The appropriate pairs for the neutrino mass generation via the up-type and down-type quark loops are $S_3$-$R_2$ and $S_{1,\,3}$-$\tilde{R}_2$, respectively. We consider two phenomenologically distinct regimes for the LQ masses in our analysis. First regime calls for very heavy LQs in the loop. It can be naturally realised with the $S_{1,\,3}$-$\tilde{R}_2$ scenarios when the LQ masses are roughly between $10^{12}$ GeV and $5 \times 10^{13}$ GeV. These lower and upper bounds originate from experimental limits on partial proton decay lifetimes and perturbativity constraints, respectively. Second regime corresponds to the collider accessible LQs in the neutrino mass loop. That option is viable for the $S_3$-$\tilde{R}_2$ scenario in the models of unification that we discuss. If one furthermore assumes the presence of the type II see-saw mechanism there is an additional contribution from the $S_3$-$R_2$ scenario that needs to be taken into account beside the type II see-saw contribution itself. We provide a complete list of renormalizable operators that yield necessary mixing of all aforementioned LQ pairs using the language of $SU(5)$. We furthermore discuss several possible embeddings of this mechanism in $SU(5)$ and $SO(10)$ gauge groups.

Secondly, by assuming that $V$ must decay to an electron-positron pair, we explore the corresponding parameter space determined with the low energy constraints coming from $ K \to μX$, electron $(g-2)_e$, $K \to μν_μe^+ e^-$, $K \to μν_μμ^+ μ^-$, $τ\to ν_τμν_μe^+ e^-$. We focus in the scenario where the $V$ mass is below $ \sim 2 m_μ$ and the $φ$ mass runs from few MeV till $250$ MeV, with V-photon mixing of the order $ \sim\mathcal{O}(10^{-3})$. Among weak process at low energies, we check the influence of the new light vector on kaon decays as well as on the scattering $e^+ e^- \rightarrow μ^+ μ^- e^+ e^-$ and discuss the impact of the dark Higgs on $e^+ e^- \rightarrow μ^+ μ^- μ^+ μ^- $. Recent lattice QCD results suggest that the masses of the first two positive parity $B_s$ mesons lie below the BK threshold, similar to the case of $D^*_{s0}(2317)^+$ and $D_{s1}(2460)^+$ mesons. The mass spectrum of $B_s$ mesons seems to follow pattern of $D_s$ mass spectrum. As in the case of charmed mesons, the structure of positive parity $B_s$ mesons is very intriguing. To shed more light on this issue, we investigate strong isospin violating decays $B_s(0^+) \to B_s^0 π^0$, $B_s(1^+) \to B_s^{*0} π^0$ and $B_s(1^+) \to B_s^0 ππ$ within heavy meson chiral perturbation theory. The two body decay amplitude arises at the tree level and we show that the loop corrections give significant contributions. On the other hand, in the case of three body decay $B_s(1^+) \to B_s^0 ππ$ amplitude occurs only at the loop level. We find that the decay widths for these decays are: $Γ(B_s(1^+) \to B_s^0 ππ)\sim 10^{-3}\,$keV and $Γ(B_s(0^+) \to B_s^0 π^0) \leq 55\,$keV, $Γ(B_s(1^+) \to B_s^{*0} π^0) \leq 50\,$keV. More precise knowledge of the coupling constant describing the interaction of positive and negative parity heavy mesons with light pseudoscalar mesons would help to increase accuracy of our calculation.

We present a comprehensive review of physics effects generated by leptoquarks (LQs), i.e., hypothetical particles that can turn quarks into leptons and vice versa, of either scalar or vector nature. These considerations include discussion of possible completions of the Standard Model that contain LQ fields. The main focus of the review is on those LQ scenarios that are not problematic with regard to proton stability. We accordingly concentrate on the phenomenology of light leptoquarks that is relevant for precision experiments and particle colliders. Important constraints on LQ interactions with matter are derived from precision low-energy observables such as electric dipole moments, (g-2) of charged leptons, atomic parity violation, neutral meson mixing, Kaon, B, and D meson decays, etc. We provide a general analysis of indirect constraints on the strength of LQ interactions with the quarks and leptons to make statements that are as model independent as possible. We address complementary constraints that originate from electroweak precision measurements, top, and Higgs physics. The Higgs physics analysis we present covers not only the most recent but also expected results from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We finally discuss direct LQ searches. Current experimental situation is summarized and self-consistency of assumptions that go into existing accelerator-based searches is discussed. A progress in making next-to-leading order predictions for both pair and single LQ productions at colliders is also outlined.

We derive the expressions for the full angular distributions of $\bar B\to D\ell\bar ν_\ell$ and $\bar B\to D^{\ast }\ell\bar ν_\ell$ decays and discuss the spectra on each angle separately. The coefficient functions, depending on helicity amplitudes, can then be combined in an ensemble of observables which can then be used to check for the presence of New Physics. We examine the sensitivity of each of these observables on the presence of non-Standard Model interaction terms at low energies. The expressions presented here are general and can be used for studying any other semileptonic pseudoscalar to pseudoscalar/vector meson decay. We also examine the problem of pollution of the $\bar B\to D^{\ast}(\to Dπ)_S\ell\bar ν_\ell$ decay sample by the $\bar B\to D_0^{\ast}(\to Dπ)\ell\bar ν_\ell$ events, and point out that a measurement of two particular quantities could clarify whether or not the $(Dπ)_{S-\rm wave}$ in the vicinity of $D^\ast$-peak is (approximately) described by the Breit-Wigner formula.

The field in question is the Standard Model singlet that resides in the adjoint representation that breaks SU(5) down to SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1). We also show that the required production and subsequent decay to two photons of this singlet can be induced by individual or combined contribution of two scalar multiplets $S_3$ and $R_2$ that transform as (3,3,-1/3) and (3,2,7/6) under SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1), respectively. The individual dominance of these multiplets is directly related to the issue of the charged fermion mass generation within the SU(5) framework and can be unambiguously tested through the diboson decay signatures of the Standard Model singlet field.

The LHCb bounds on the branching ratio of rare decay $D^0 \to μ^+ μ^-$ and the constraints on the branching ratio of $D^+ \to π^+ μ^+ μ^-$ in the nonresonant regions enable us to improve constraints on new physics contributions. Using the effective Lagrangian approach we determine sizes of the Wilson coefficients allowed by the existing LHCb bounds on rare charm decays. Then we discuss contributions to rare charm meson decay observables in several models of new physics: a model with an additional spin-1 weak triplet, leptoquark models, Two Higgs doublets model of type III, and a $Z'$ model. Here we complement the discussion by $D^0 - \bar D^0$ oscillations data. Among considered models, only leptoquarks can significantly modify Wilson coefficients. Assuming that the differential decay width for $D^+ \to π^+ μ^+ μ^-$ receives NP contribution, while the differential decay width for $D^+ \to π^+ e^+ e^-$ is Standard Model-like, we find that lepton flavor universality can be violated and might be observed at high dilepton invariant mass.

Therefore, both states can strongly decay only into isospin violating decays D_{s1}(2460) --> Ds ππ, D_{s1}(2460) --> Ds* π0 and D*_{s0}(2317) --> Ds π0. The pion states are having rather small energies, what makes these decays appropriate to study within heavy meson chiral perturbation theory and calculate loop contributions. The D_{s1}(2460) --> Ds ππdecays occur only at the loop level. Amplitude is a result of chiral loop contributions, which then have to be finite. However, in the case of D_{s1}(2460)--> Ds* π0 and D*_{s0}(2317)--> Ds π0 decays, there is a tree level contribution. We find that chiral loop contributions might be important in both cases. The calculated amplitudes are sensitive on the coupling constant describing the interaction of positive and negative parity heavy meson multiplets with the light pseudoscalars. The counter-terms contributions are also present in the amplitudes D_{s1}(2460) --> Ds* π0 and D*_{s0}(2317) --> Ds π0. We explore experimentally known ratio of the decay widths for these two decay modes to estimate the size of counter-terms contributions. We determine decay widths for both decay modes to be Gamma (D_{s1}(2460) --> Ds π+ π-) = 0.25 keV and Gamma (D_{s1}(2460) --> Ds + π0 π0 ) = 0.15 keV.

From the current data on ${\cal B}(B_s\to μμ)$ and ${\cal B}(B\to K μμ)_{[15,22] \,\mathrm{GeV}^2}$, we obtain constraints on $\mathrm{Re} C_{10}^\prime$ and $\mathrm{Im} C_{10}^\prime$ which we then assume to be lepton specific, and find $R_K= {\cal B}(B\to K μμ)/ {\cal B}(B\to K ee)_{[1,6]\,\mathrm{GeV}^2}=0.88(8)$, consistent with recent value measured at LHCb. A specific realization of this scenario is the one with a scalar leptoquark state $Δ$, in which $C_{10}^\prime$ is related to the mass of $Δ$ and its Yukawa couplings. We then show that this scenario does not make any significant impact on $B_s-\overline B_s$ mixing amplitude nor to $ {\cal B}(B\to Kν\bar ν)$. Instead, it can modify $R_{K^\ast}= {\cal B}(B\to K^\ast μμ)/ {\cal B}(B\to K^\ast ee)_{[1,6]\,\mathrm{GeV}^2}$, which will soon be experimentally measured and we find it to be $R_{K^\ast}= 1.11(8)$, while $R_{K^\ast}/R_K= 1.27(19)$. A similar ratio of forward-backward asymmetries also becomes lower than in the Standard Model.

We speculate about the possible interpretations of the recently observed excess in the $h \to τμ$ decay. We derive a robust lower bound on the Higgs boson coupling strength to a tau and a muon, even in presence of the most general new physics affecting other Higgs properties. Then we reevaluate complementary indirect constraints coming from low energy observables as well as from theoretical considerations. In particular, the tentative signal should lead to $τ\to μγ$ at rates which could be observed at Belle II. In turn we show that, barring fine-tuned cancellations, the effect can only be accommodated within models with an extended scalar sector. These general conclusions are demonstrated using a number of explicit new physics models. Finally we show how, given the $h \to τμ$ signal, the current and future searches for $μ\to e γ$ and $μ\to e$ nuclear conversions unambiguously constrain the allowed rates for $h \to τe$.

Current experimental information on the charm meson decay observables in which the $c\to s\ellν_\ell$ transitions occur is well compatible with the Standard Model predictions. Recent precise lattice calculations of the $D_s$ meson decay constant and form factors in $D\to K\ellν$ decays offer a possibility to search for the small deviations from the Standard Model predictions in the next generation of the high intensity flavour experiments. We revisit constraints from these processes on the new physics contributions in the effective theory approach. We investigate new physics effects which might appear in the differential distributions for the longitudinally and transversely polarised $K^\ast$ in $D\to K^\ast\ellν_\ell$ decays. Present constraints from these observables are rather weak, but could be used to constrain new physics effects in the future. In the case of $D\to K\ellν$ we identify observables sensitive on new physics contribution coming from the scalar Wilson coefficient, namely the forward-backward and the transversal muon asymmetries. By allowing that new physics modifies only the second lepton generation but not the first one, we identify allowed region for the differential decay rate for the process $D\to Kμν_μ$ and find that it is allowed to deviate from the Standard Model prediction by only few percent. The lepton flavour universality violation can be tested in the ratio $R_{μ/e}(q^2)\equiv \frac{dΓ^{(μ)}}{dq^2}/\frac{dΓ^{(e)}}{dq^2}$. If the first lepton generation behaves as in the Standard Model, we find, using current constraint on the scalar Wilson coefficient, that the ratio $R_{μ/e}(q^2)$ is currently allowed to be within the range $(0.9, 1.2)$, depending on the value of $q^2$.

We study implications of large lepton-quark-leptoquark couplings for direct leptoquark searches at Large Hadron Collider. We present all existing flavor constraints on the strength of these couplings assuming that leptoquarks under consideration interact exclusively with charged leptons and quarks of the same generation. We find that these leptoquarks can have sizeable couplings to the Standard Model fermions. This insures a self consistency of our study. We discuss the leptoquark production mechanisms at LHC and demonstrate the importance of inclusion of a t-channel pair production and, in particular, a single leptoquark production through a recast of an existing CMS search at LHC for the second generation leptoquark. Our recast yields the best direct limit on Yukawa coupling of the second generation leptoquark that couples to a muon and a strange quark to date.

The Standard Model fermion sector is enlarged by either one light singlet vector-like down-type quark or one light vector-like lepton doublet, which might be accommodated within a five-dimensional representation of SU(5). At low energies the inclusion of these states affects precisely measured observables in flavor physics, as well as electroweak precision measurements. These experimental results strongly constrain couplings of vector-like states to the Standard Model particles. Having these bounds, we investigate the impact of vector-like fermions on the mass matrices for down-type quarks and charged leptons in an SU(5) setting. We find that unitary transformations relating an arbitrary flavor basis to the mass eigenstate basis depend only on three free parameters. Then we discuss the parameter space constrained by low-energy data assuming vector-like quark and vector-like lepton masses to be 800 GeV and 400 GeV, respectively. We demonstrate that these two scenarios generate unique patterns for relevant proton decay widths. A further improvement of experimental bounds on proton decay modes would thus differentiate the allowed parameter space. We finally present two full-fledged SU(5) models that allow for gauge coupling unification with light vector-like fermions under consideration and discuss their viability.

The presence of a colored scalar that is a weak doublet with fractional electric charges of $|Q|=2/3$ and $|Q|=5/3$ with mass below 1,TeV can provide an explanation of the observed branching ratios in $B \to D^{(*)} τ\bar ν$ decays. The required combination of scalar and tensor operators in the effective Hamiltonian for $b \to c τ\bar ν$ is generated through the $t$-channel exchange. We focus on a scenario with a minimal set of Yukawa couplings that can address a semitauonic puzzle and show that its resolution puts a nontrivial bound on the product of the scalar couplings to $\bar τb$ and $\bar c ν$. We also derive additional constraints posed by $Z \to b\bar b$, muon magnetic moment, lepton flavor violating decays $μ\to e γ$, $τ\to μγ$, $τ\to e γ$, and $τ$ electric dipole moment. The minimal set of Yukawa couplings is not only compatible with the mass generation in an SU(5) unification framework, a natural environment for colored scalars, but specifies all matter mixing parameters except for one angle in the up-type quark sector. We accordingly spell out predictions for the proton decay signatures through gauge boson exchange and show that $p \rightarrow π^0 e^+$ is suppressed with respect to $p \rightarrow K^+ \barν$ and even $p \rightarrow K^0 e^+$ in some parts of available parameter space. Impact of the colored scalar embedding in 45-dimensional representation of SU(5) on low-energy phenomenology is also presented. Finally, we make predictions for rare top and charm decays where presence of this scalar can be tested independently.

Light vector-like quarks with non-renormalizable couplings to the Higgs are a common feature of models trying to address the electroweak (EW) hierarchy problem by treating the Higgs as a pseudo-goldstone boson of a global (approximate) symmetry. We systematically investigate the implications of the leading dimension five operators on Higgs phenomenology in presence of dynamical up- and down-type weak singlet as well as weak doublet vector-like quarks. After taking into account constraints from precision EW and flavour observables we show that contrary to the renormalizable models, significant modifications of Higgs properties are still possible and could shed light on the role of vector-like quarks in solutions to the EW hierarchy problem. We also briefly discuss implications of higher dimensional operators for direct vector-like quark searches at the LHC.
