Purpose: Tumor-associated vasculature differs from healthy blood vessels by its chaotic architecture and twistedness, which promotes treatment resistance. Measurable differences in these attributes may help stratify patients by likely benefit of systemic therapy (e.g. chemotherapy). In this work, we present a new category of radiomic biomarkers called quantitative tumor-associated vasculature (QuanTAV) features, and demonstrate their ability to predict response and survival across multiple cancers, imaging modalities, and treatment regimens.
Experimental Design: We segmented tumor vessels and computed mathematical measurements of twistedness and organization on routine pre-treatment radiology (CT or contrast-enhanced MRI) from 558 patients, who received one of four first-line chemotherapy-based therapeutic intervention strategies for breast (n=371) or non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC, n=187).
Results: Across 4 chemotherapy-based treatment strategies, classifiers of QuanTAV measurements significantly (p<.05) predicted response in held out testing cohorts alone (AUC=0.63-0.71) and increased AUC by 0.06-0.12 when added to models of significant clinical variables alone. QuanTAV risk scores were prognostic of recurrence free survival in treatment cohorts chemotherapy for breast cancer (p=0.002, HR=1.25, 95% CI 1.08-1.44, C-index=.66) and chemoradiation for NSCLC (p=0.039, HR=1.28, 95% CI 1.01-1.62, C-index=0.66). Categorical QuanTAV risk groups were independently prognostic among all treatment groups, including NSCLC patients receiving chemotherapy (p=0.034, HR=2.29, 95% CI 1.07-4.94, C-index=0.62).
Conclusions: Across these domains, we observed an association of vascular morphology on radiology with treatment outcome. Our findings suggest the potential of tumor-associated vasculature shape and structure as a prognostic and predictive biomarker for multiple cancers and treatments.

Lepton flavor violating interactions are absent in the standard model but are expected in various beyond standard models. In this work, the potential of the future circular electron-positron collider to probe the four fermion lepton flavor couplings via the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow e^{\pm}τ^{\mp}$ process is revisited by means of an effective field theory approach. We provide constraints at $95\%$ CL on the dimension-six Wilson coefficients including major sources of background processes and considering realistic detector effects at four expected operation energies $\sqrt{s}=157.5$, $162.5$, $240$ and $365$ GeV according to their corresponding integrated luminosities. We demonstrate that statistical combination of the results from four center-of-mass energies improves the sensitivity to the LFV couplings significantly. We compare the results with the prospects from Belle II with $50~ ab^{-1}$ and other studies at electron-positron colliders.

In this paper, we explore the potential of the LHC to measure the rate of $\mathrm{p}\mathrm{p}\rightarrow \mathrm{p}~ WWγ~\mathrm{p}$ process, also to probe the new effective couplings contributing to the $WWγ$ and $WWγγ$ vertices. The analysis is performed at the $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, in the di-leptonic decay channel, and assuming 300 $fb^{-1}$ integrated luminosity (IL). In addition to the presence of two opposite sign leptons, a photon, and missing energy, the distinctive signature of this process is the presence of two intact protons flying few millimeters from the initial beam direction in both sides of interaction points which suppress the background process effectively. To exploit this feature of signal we benefit from forward detectors (FDs) placed about 200 meters from the interaction point to register the kinematics of tagged protons. In order to overcome the major sources of backgrounds, we introduced three categories of selection cuts dealing with objects that strike the central detector, protons hitting the FDs, and correlations of central objects and protons, respectively. We also evaluate the probability of pile-up protons to be tagged in the FDs as a function of the mean number of pile-up. Then the sensitivity of the LHC to observe this process and constraints on multi-boson effective couplings are extracted. The obtained expected limits show very good improvements for dimension-8 quartic couplings and competitive bounds on dimension-6 anomalous triple couplings w.r.t the current experimental limits. Therefore, we propose this process to the LHC experiments as a sensitive and complementary channel to study the multi-gauge boson couplings.

Predicting response to neoadjuvant therapy is a vexing challenge in breast cancer. In this study, we evaluate the ability of deep learning to predict response to HER2-targeted neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) from pre-treatment dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI acquired prior to treatment. In a retrospective study encompassing DCE-MRI data from a total of 157 HER2+ breast cancer patients from 5 institutions, we developed and validated a deep learning approach for predicting pathological complete response (pCR) to HER2-targeted NAC prior to treatment. 100 patients who received HER2-targeted neoadjuvant chemotherapy at a single institution were used to train (n=85) and tune (n=15) a convolutional neural network (CNN) to predict pCR. A multi-input CNN leveraging both pre-contrast and late post-contrast DCE-MRI acquisitions was identified to achieve optimal response prediction within the validation set (AUC=0.93). This model was then tested on two independent testing cohorts with pre-treatment DCE-MRI data. It achieved strong performance in a 28 patient testing set from a second institution (AUC=0.85, 95% CI 0.67-1.0, p=.0008) and a 29 patient multicenter trial including data from 3 additional institutions (AUC=0.77, 95% CI 0.58-0.97, p=0.006). Deep learning-based response prediction model was found to exceed a multivariable model incorporating predictive clinical variables (AUC < .65 in testing cohorts) and a model of semi-quantitative DCE-MRI pharmacokinetic measurements (AUC < .60 in testing cohorts). The results presented in this work across multiple sites suggest that with further validation deep learning could provide an effective and reliable tool to guide targeted therapy in breast cancer, thus reducing overtreatment among HER2+ patients.

In this paper, we investigate the anomalous chromoelectric and chromomagnetic dipole moments of the top quark through top pair production in association with two photons at the LHC. We first present the strategy to reconstruct this process assuming a different source for background processes. Then, we focus on the existing constraints from inclusive top-pair production from the Tevatron and LHC, adding the new LHC measurement. Afterwards, we introduce the new cross section ratio $R_{2γ/γ}=σ_{t\bar{t}γγ}/σ_{t\bar{t}γ}$ and show the usefulness of this ratio in canceling most of the systematic uncertainties and its special functionality to constrain dipole moments. Finally, we use the scalar sum of the transverse momentum of jets, $H_{T}$, in order to define a signal-dominated region and obtain limits on these anomalous top couplings using different amounts of expected data from the LHC.

In this paper, we investigate the prospects of measuring the strong and weak dipole moments of the top quark at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Measurements of these couplings provide an excellent opportunity to probe new physics interactions as they have quite small magnitudes in the Standard Model. Our analyses are through studying the production cross sections of $t\bar{t}WW$ and $t\bar{t}ZZ$ processes in the same sign dilepton and four-lepton final states, respectively. The sensitivities to strong and weak top quark dipole interactions at the $95\%$ confidence level for various integrated luminosity scenarios are derived and compared with other studies. In addition to using the total cross sections, a novel handle based on an angular observable is introduced which is found to be sensitive to variations of the top quark strong dipole moments. We also investigate the sensitivity of the invariant mass of the system to the strong and weak dipole moments of the top quark.

We consider the electroweak production of a top quark in association with a photon at the LHC to probe the electroweak top quark couplings (t$\bar{\text{t}}γ$) as well as the triple gauge boson couplings (WW$γ$). The study is based on the modifications of the t$\bar{\text{t}}γ$ and WW$γ$ interactions via heavy degrees of freedom in the form of dimension-six operators which we add to the standard model Lagrangian. A binned angular asymmetry in single top quark plus photon events and cross section ratio are proposed to probe the anomalous
t$\bar{\text{t}}γ$ and WW$γ$ couplings. It is shown that the proposed angular asymmetry can distinguish anomalous t$\bar{\text{t}}γ$, WW$γ$ couplings from the standard model prediction and yield a great sensitivity.

In this paper, we perform a comprehensive study to probe the effects of large extra dimensions through double Higgs production in proton-proton collisions at the center-of-mass energies of 14, 33, 100 TeV. We concentrate on the channel in which both Higgs bosons decay into $b\bar{b}$ pair and take into account the main background contributions through realistic Monte-Carlo simulations. In order to achieve an efficient event reconstruction and a good background rejection, jet substructure techniques are used to efficiently capture the boosted Higgs bosons in the final state. The expected limits on the model parameters are obtained based on the invariant mass and the angular properties of the final state objects. Depending on the number of extra dimensions, bounds up to 6.1, 12.5, 28.1 TeV are set on the model parameter at proton-proton collisions with the center-of-mass energies of 14, 33, and 100 TeV, respectively.

The combined analysis produces the first observation of the $B^0_s\toμ^+μ^-$ decay, with a statistical significance exceeding six standard deviations, and the best measurement of its branching fraction so far. Furthermore, evidence for the $B^0\toμ^+μ^-$ decay is obtained with a statistical significance of three standard deviations. The branching fraction measurements are statistically compatible with SM predictions and impose stringent constraints on several theories beyond the SM.

The CMS collaboration at the CERN-LHC have searched for the $t$-channel single top quark production using the spin correlation of the $t$-channel. The signal extraction and cross section measurement relies on the angular distribution of the charged lepton in the top quark decays, the angle between the charged lepton momentum and top spin in the top rest frame. The behavior of the angular distribution is a distinct slope for the t-channel single top (signal) while it is flat for the backgrounds. In this letter we investigate the contributions which this spin correlation may receive from a two-Higgs doublet model, a top-color assisted technicolor (TC2) and the noncommutative extension of the Standard Model.
