A continuing challenge in atomic resolution microscopy is to identify significant structural motifs and their assembly rules in synthesized materials with limited observations. Here we propose and validate a simple and effective hybrid generative model capable of predicting unseen domain boundaries in a potassium sodium niobate thin film from only a small number of observations, without expensive first-principles calculation. Our results demonstrate that complicated domain boundary structures can arise from simple interpretable local rules, played out probabilistically. We also found new significant tileable boundary motifs and evidence that our system creates domain boundaries with the highest entropy. More broadly, our work shows that simple yet interpretable machine learning models can help us describe and understand the nature and origin of disorder in complex materials.

Abstract:
We study the properties of Kokotsakis polyhedra of orthodiagonal anti-involutive type. We study the properties of Kokotsakis polyhedra of orthodiagonal anti-involutive type. Stachel conjectured that a certain resultant connected to a polynomial system describing flexion of a Kokotsakis polyhedron must be reducible. Izmestiev \cite{izmestiev2016classification} showed that a polyhedron of the orthodiagonal anti-involutive type is the only possible candidate to disprove Stachel's conjecture. We show that the corresponding resultant is reducible, thereby confirming the conjecture. We do it in two ways: by factorization of the corresponding resultant and providing a simple geometric proof. We describe the space of parameters for which such a polyhedron exists and show that this space is non-empty. We show that a Kokotsakis polyhedron of orthodiagonal anti-involutive type is flexible and give explicit parameterizations in elementary functions and in elliptic functions of its flexion.

Non-linear, radially global, turbulence simulations of ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) plasmas are performed and the nonlinear generated intrinsic flow shows agreement with the intrinsic flow gradients measured in the core of Ohmic L-mode plasmas at nominal parameters. Simulations utilising the kinetic electron model show hollow intrinsic flow profiles as seen in a predominant number of experiments performed at similar plasma parameters. In addition, significantly larger flow gradients are seen than in a previous flux-tube analysis (Hornsby et al {\it Nucl. Fusion} (2017)). Adiabatic electron model simulations can show a flow profile with opposing sign in the gradient with respect to a kinetic electron simulation, implying a reversal in the sign of the residual stress due to kinetic electrons. The sha** of the intrinsic flow is strongly determined by the density gradient profile. The sensitivity of the residual stress to variations in density profile curvature is calculated and seen to be significantly stronger than to neoclassical flows (Hornsby et al {\it Nucl. Fusion} (2017)). This variation is strong enough on its own to explain the large variations in the intrinsic flow gradients seen in some AUG experiments. Analysis of the symmetry breaking properties of the turbulence shows that profile shearing is the dominant mechanism in producing a finite parallel wave-number, with turbulence gradient effects contributing a smaller portion of the parallel wave-vector.

Abstract:
Recent studies of AzoTAB activity in excitable cell cultures have shown that this substance is able to control excitability depending on isomer, cis or trans, predominating in the cellular membrane. Control of isomerization can be performed noninvasively by UV-visual radiation. Recent studies of AzoTAB activity in excitable cell cultures have shown that this substance is able to control excitability depending on isomer, cis or trans, predominating in the cellular membrane. Control of isomerization can be performed noninvasively by UV-visual radiation. At the same time it is well-known that azobenezenes can be effectively transformed from one isomer into another by two-photon absorption. Current work is devoted to the study of trans-AzoTAB two-photon transformation in aqueous solution and inside primal neonatal contractive rat cardiomyocytes. In accordance with results obtained Azo-TAB can be used as a probe for two-photon optical control of cardiac excitability.
