Visible-to-ultraviolet (<340 nm) photon upconversion by triplet-triplet annihilation in solvents
Abstract: In this article, visible-to-ultraviolet photon upconversion (UV-UC) by triplet-triplet annihilation in the emission range shorter than 340 nm, which is previously unexplored, is presented and the relevant physicochemical characteristics are elucidated. Investigations were carried out in several deaerated solvents using acridone and naphthalene derivatives as a sensitizer and emitter, respectively.… ▽ More

CANGAROO-III observation of TeV gamma rays from the unidentified gamma-ray source HESS J1614-518
Abstract: We report the detection, with the CANGAROO-III imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope array, of a very high energy gamma-ray signal from the unidentified gamma-ray source HESS J1614-518, which was discovered in the H.E.S.S. Search for VHE gamma rays from SS433/W50 with the CANGAROO-II telescope
Abstract: SS433, located at the center of the supernova remnant W50, is a close proximity binary system consisting of a compact star and a normal star. Jets of material are directed outwards from the vicinity of the compact star symmetrically to the east and west. Non-thermal hard X-ray emission is detected from lobes lying on both sides. CANGAROO-III search for TeV Gamma-rays from two clusters of galaxies
Abstract: Because accretion and merger shocks in clusters of galaxies may accelerate particles to high energies, clusters are candidate sites for the origin of ultra-high-energy (UHE) cosmic-rays. A prediction was presented for gamma-ray emission from a cluster of galaxies at a detectable level with the current generation of imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. CANGAROO-III Observation of TeV Gamma Rays from the vicinity of PSR B1 706-44
Abstract: Observation by the CANGAROO-III stereoscopic system of the Imaging Cherenkov Telescope has detected extended emission of TeV gamma rays in the vicinity of the pulsar PSR B1706$-$44. The strength of the signal observed as gamma-ray-like events varies when we apply different ways of emulating background events. CANGAROO-III Search for Gamma Rays from Kepler's Supernova Remnant

CANGAROO-III Search for Gamma Rays from SN 1987A and the Surrounding Field
Abstract: Optical images of SN 1987A show a triple ring structure. The inner (dust) ring has recently increased in brightness and in the number of hot spots suggesting that the supernova shock wave has collided with the dense pre-existing circumstellar medium, a scenario supported by radio and X-ray observations. Direct CP violation in three-body decays of the $B$ meson by resonance effects
Abstract: We discuss direct CP violation in three-body decays of $B$ meson such as $B^\pm \to K^\pmπ^+π^-$, which involves various intermediate resonance states, such as $B^\pm \to K^*_i π^\pm$ and $B^\pm \to ρK^\pm$, where $K^*_i$ represents the $πK$ resonance. Observation of Excess $Λ(\barΛ)$ Production in Two-Photon Processes at TRISTAN
Abstract: We have carried out inclusive measurements of $Λ(\barΛ)$ production in two-photon processes at TRISTAN. The mean $\sqrt{s}$ was 58 GeV and the integrated luminosity was 265 pb$^{-1}$. Inclusive $Λ(\barΛ)$ samples were obtained under such conditions as no-electron, anti-electron, and remnant-jet tags. The data were compared with theoretical calculations. The measured cross sections are two-times… ▽ More

Test of Various Photocathodes
Abstract: A test of various photocathodes was carried out. The tested materials were CsI, CsTe, their multi-layers and so on. The quantum efficiencies of the various materials were measured under a vacuum and/or after exposure to several kinds of gases.

New Tagging Method of B Flavor of Neutral B Meson in CP Violation Measurement in Asymmetric B-Factory Experiment
Abstract: In CP violation measurements in asymmetric B-factory experiments, a determination of the B flavor of the neutral B mesons is necessary. A new method to this purpose using only three vectors of charged particles has been developed. This method (weighted charge method) does not require either lepton identification or charged-kaon identification. The tagging efficiency, probability for incorrect ta… ▽ More

$K^0(\bar{K^0})$ Production in Two-Photon Processes at TRISTAN
Abstract: We have carried out an inclusive measurement of $K^0(\bar{K^0})$ production in two-photon processes at TRISTAN. The mean $\sqrt{s}$ was 58 GeV and the integrated luminosity was 199 pb$^{-1}$. High-statistics $K_s$ samples were obtained under such conditions as no-, anti-electron, and remnant-jet tags. The remnant-jet tag, in particular, allowed us, for the first time, to measure the cross sectio… ▽ More

Measurement of the $D^{*\pm}$ Cross Section using a Soft-Pion Analysis in Two-Photon Processes
Abstract: The differential cross section of $dσ(e^+e^-\to e^+e^-D^{*\pm}X)/dP_T$ was measured using a soft-pion analysis of $D^{*\pm}\to π_s^\pm D^0(\bar{D^0})$ at TRISTAN. The average $\sqrt{s}$ was 58.1 GeV and the integrated luminosity used in this analysis was 198 pb$^{-1}$, respectively.

A Measurement of the $D^{*\pm}$ Cross Section in Two-Photon Processes
Abstract: We have measured the inclusive $D^{*\pm}$ production cross section in a two-photon collision at the TRISTAN $e^+e^-$ collider. The mean $\sqrt{s}$ of the collider was 57.16 GeV and the integrated luminosity was 150 $pb^{-1}$. The differential cross section ($dσ(D^{*\pm})/dP_T$) was obtained in the $P_T$ range between 1.6 and 6.6 GeV and compared with theoretical predictions, such as those involv… ▽ More
