We use data from the COHERENT CsI[Na] scintillation detector to constrain sub-GeV leptophobic dark matter models. This detector was built to observe low-energy nuclear recoils from coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering. These capabilities enable searches for dark matter particles produced at the Spallation Neutron Source mediated by a vector portal particle with masses between 2 and 400 MeV/c$^2$. No evidence for dark matter is observed and a limit on the mediator coupling to quarks is placed. This constraint improves upon previous results by two orders of magnitude. This newly explored parameter space probes the region where the dark matter relic abundance is explained by leptophobic dark matter when the mediator mass is roughly twice the dark matter mass. COHERENT sets the best constraint on leptophobic dark matter at these masses.

Abstract:
This manuscript describes the commissioning of the Mini-CAPTAIN liquid argon detector in a neutron beam at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE), which led to a first measurement of high-energy neutron interactions in argon. The Mini-CAPTAIN detector consists of a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) with an accompanying photomultiplier tube (PMT) array sealed inside a liquid-argon-filled cryost…

This manuscript describes the commissioning of the Mini-CAPTAIN liquid argon detector in a neutron beam at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE), which led to a first measurement of high-energy neutron interactions in argon. The Mini-CAPTAIN detector consists of a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) with an accompanying photomultiplier tube (PMT) array sealed inside a liquid-argon-filled cryostat. The liquid argon is constantly purified and recirculated in a closed-loop cycle during operation. The specifications and assembly of the detector subsystems and an overview of their performance in a neutron beam are reported.

Stochastic computing (SC) is a high density, low-power computation technique which encodes values as unary bitstreams instead of binary-encoded (BE) values. Practical SC implementations require deterministic or pseudo-random number sequences which are optimally correlated to generate bitstreams and achieve accurate results. Unfortunately, the size of the search space makes manually designing optimally correlated number sequences a difficult task. To automate this design burden, we propose a synthesis formulation using mixed integer programming to automatically generate optimally correlated number sequences. In particular, our synthesis formulation improves the accuracy of arithmetic operations such as multiplication and squaring circuits by up to 2.5x and 20x respectively. We also show how our technique can be extended to scale to larger circuits.

In a dynamically changing world, businesses must transform themselves to survive. Although the necessity for change may be apparent; how to change is not. Learning from the experiences of successful pioneers in a core business function is useful. Procurement is essential for all organisations. It is how organisations acquire assets and inputs including facilities, materials and people. Traditionally, the business objective from procurement was to increase availability and reduce costs. Subsequently, the objective became more tactical. Leading procurement practice today is disruptive; beyond cost to creating value. The strategy for market leaders has also transformed; from competition to collaboration. Technology-enabled business networks are now driving business disruption globally. Through a rigorous field study of two world-class pioneering corporations, this paper explores how disruption is transforming Enterprise Supply Chains. Lessons, contributions and their implications for current IS theory and practice, are discussed.
