In this numerical work, we find a self-consistent constant scattering superconducting lifetime for two different values of the disorder parameters, the inverse atomic strength, and the stoichiometric impurity in the triplet paired unconventional super-conductor strontium ruthenate. This finding is relevant for experimentalists given that the expressions for the ultrasound attenuation and the electronic thermal conductivity depend on the superconducting scattering lifetime, and a constant lifetime fits well nonequilibrium experimental data. Henceforth, this work helps experimentalists in their interpretation of the acquired data. Additionally, we encountered tiny imaginary parts of the self-energy that resembles the Miyake-Narikiyo tiny gap out-side the unitary elastic scattering limit, and below the threshold zero gap value of 1.0 meV.

The equilibrium resulting in a recombining plasma with arbitrary metallicity Z, heated by a mean radiation field E as well as by sound waves dissipation due to thermal conduction, dynamic and bulk viscosity is analyzed. Generally, the heating by acoustic waves dissipation induces drastic changes in the range of temperature where the thermochemical equilibrium may exist. An additional equilibrium state appears which is characterized by a lower ionization and higher gas pressure than the equilibrium resulting when the wave dissipation is neglected. The above effects are sensibly to the values of the gas parameters as well as the wavelength and intensity of the acoustic waves. Implications in the interstellar gas, in particular, in the high velocity clouds are outlined.

In this work, we present the studies of structural phase transitions in Fe(Se,Te) crystals in the range of about 30% selenium substitution by tellurium. We found a significant change in the properties of the ordered state of these compositions compared to the case of pure FeSe. The resistivity at low temperatures for the studied Fe(Se,Te) is proportional to the square of the temperature while for pure FeSe below the structural transition it depends almost linearly on temperature. The NMR data show a noticeable line broadening below the structural transition and an anomaly in the temperature dependence of the relaxation rate in the tellurium-substituted compounds, which was not observed in the pure FeSe. This reveals in quasi-binary compounds of iron-based superconductors a region of quantum criticality similar to that which exists when the nematicity of FeSe is suppressed under pressure and which precedes the emergence of high-temperature superconductivity in FeSe under hydrostatic pressure.

A collision hazard measure that has the essential characteristics to provide a measurement of safety that will be useful to AV developers, traffic infrastructure developers and managers, regulators and the public is introduced here. The Streetscope Collision Hazard Measure (SHM) overcomes the limitations of existing measures, and provides an independent leading indication of safety. * Trailing indicators, such as collision statistics, incur pain and loss on society, and are not an ethically acceptable approach. * Near-misses have been shown to be effective predictors of incidents. * Time-to-Collision (TTC) provides ambiguous indication of collision hazards, and requires assumptions about vehicle behavior. * Responsibility-Sensitive Safety (RSS), because of its reliance on rules for individual circumstances, will not scale up to handle the complexities of traffic. * Instantaneous Safety Metric (ISM) relies on probabilistic predictions of behaviors to categorize events (possible, imminent, critical), and does not provide a quantitative measure of the severity of the hazard. * Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) acceleration data is not correlated with hazard or risk. * A new measure, based on the concept of near-misses, that incorporates both proximity (separation distance) and motion (relative speed) is introduced. * Near-miss data has been shown to be predictive of the likelihood and severity of incidents. The new measure presented here gathers movement data about vehicles continuously and a quantitative score reflecting the hazard encountered or created (from which the riskiness or safeness of the behavior of vehicles can be estimated) is computed nearly continuously.

An operating system kernel uses cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator for creating address space localization randomization offsets to protect memory addresses to processes from exploration, storing users' password securely and creating cryptographic keys. The paper proposes a CSPRNG called KCS-PRNG which produces non-reproducible bitstreams. The proposed KCS-PRNG presents an efficient design uniquely configured with two new non-standard and verified elliptic curves and clock-controlled linear feedback shift registers and a novel method to consistently generate non-reproducible random bits of arbitrary lengths. The generated bit streams are statistically indistinguishable from true random bitstreams and provably secure, resilient to important attacks, exhibits backward and forward secrecy, exhibits exponential linear complexity, large period and huge key space.

The Provence Adaptive optics Pyramid Run System (PAPYRUS) is a pyramid-based Adaptive Optics (AO) system that will be installed at the Coude focus of the 1.52m telescope (T152) at the Observatoire de Haute Provence (OHP). The project is being developed by PhD students and Postdocs across France with support from staff members consolidating the existing expertise and hardware into an R&D testbed. This testbed allows us to run various pyramid wavefront sensing (WFS) control algorithms on-sky and experiment on new concepts for wavefront control with additional benefit from the high number of available nights at this telescope. It will also function as a teaching tool for students during the planned AO summer school at OHP. To our knowledge, this is one of the first pedagogic pyramid-based AO systems on-sky. The key components of PAPYRUS are a 17x17 actuators Alpao deformable mirror with a Alpao RTC, a very low noise camera OCAM2k, and a 4-faces glass pyramid. PAPYRUS is designed in order to be a simple and modular system to explore wavefront control with a pyramid WFS on sky. We present an overview of PAPYRUS, a description of the opto-mechanical design and the current status of the project.

We present 17 transit light curves of seven known warm-Jupiters observed with the CHaracterising ExOPlanet Satellite (CHEOPS). The light curves have been collected as part of the CHEOPS Guaranteed Time Observation (GTO) program that searches for transit-timing variation (TTV) of warm-Jupiters induced by a possible external perturber to shed light on the evolution path of such planetary systems. We describe the CHEOPS observation process, from the planning to the data analysis. In this work we focused on the timing performance of CHEOPS, the impact of the sampling of the transit phases, and the improvement we can obtain combining multiple transits together. We reached the highest precision on the transit time of about 13-16 s for the brightest target (WASP-38, G = 9.2) in our sample. From the combined analysis of multiple transits of fainter targets with G >= 11 we obtained a timing precision of about 2 min. Additional observations with CHEOPS, covering a longer temporal baseline, will further improve the precision on the transit times and will allow us to detect possible TTV signals induced by an external perturber.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) improves traffic management and reduce the amount of road accidents by providing safety applications. However, VANETs are vulnerable to variety of security attacks from malicious entities. An authentication is an integral a neighborhood of trust establishment and secure communications between vehicles. The Road-side Unit (RSU) evaluates trust-value and the Agent Trusted Authority (ATA) helps in computing the trust-value of auto supported its reward-points. The communication between nodes is enhanced, this can reduce 50% of road accidents. The security of the VANET is improved. We propose the utilization of Elliptic Curve Cryptography in the design of an efficient data encryption/decryption system for sensor nodes in a wireless network. Elliptic Curve Cryptography can provide impressive levels of security standards while kee** down the cost of certain issues, primarily storage space. Sensors will benefit from having to store relatively smaller keys coupled with increased computational capability and this will be a stronger design as the bit-level security is improved. Thus, reducing the time delay between the nodes and to provide better results between them we have made use of this method. The implementation of this work is done with NS2 software.

LOCNES (LOw-Cost NIR Extended Solar telescope) is a solar telescope installed at the TNG (Telescopio Nazionale Galileo). It feeds the light of the Sun into the NIR spectrograph GIANO-B through a 40-m patch of optical fibers. LOCNES has been designed to obtain high signal-to-noise ratio spectra of the Sun as a star with an accurate wavelength calibration through molecular-band cells. This is an entirely new area of investigation that will provide timely results to improve the search of telluric planets with NIR spectrographs such as iSHELL, CARMENES, and GIANO-B. We will extract several disc-integrated activity indicators and average magnetic field measurements for the Sun in the NIR. Eventually, they will be correlated with both the RV of the Sun-as-a -star and the resolved images of the solar disc in visible and NIR. Such an approach will allow for a better understanding of the origin of activity-induced RV variations in the two spectral domains and will help in improving the techniques for their corrections. In this paper, we outline the science drivers for the LOCNES project and its first commissioning results.

Before about 500 million years ago, most probably our planet experienced temporary snowball conditions, with continental and sea ices covering a large fraction of its surface. This points to a potential bistability of Earth's climate, that can have at least two different (statistical) equilibrium states for the same external forcing (i.e., solar radiation). Here we explore the probability of finding bistable climates in earth-like exoplanets, and consider the properties of planetary climates obtained by varying the semi-major orbital axis (thus, received stellar radiation), eccentricity and obliquity, and atmospheric pressure. To this goal, we use the Earth-like planet surface temperature model (ESTM), an extension of 1D Energy Balance Models developed to provide a numerically efficient climate estimator for parameter sensitivity studies and long climatic simulations. After verifying that the ESTM is able to reproduce Earth climate bistability, we identify the range of parameter space where climate bistability is detected. An intriguing result of the present work is that the planetary conditions that support climate bistability are remarkably similar to those required for the sustainance of complex, multicellular life on the planetary surface. The interpretation of this result deserves further investigation, given its relevance for the potential distribution of life in exoplanetary systems.

Traditionally, Departments of Transportation (DOTs) use the factor-based model to estimate Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) from short-term traffic counts. The expansion factors, derived from the permanent traffic count stations, are applied to the short-term counts for AADT estimation. The inherent challenges of the factor-based method (i.e., grou** the count stations, applying proper expansion factors) make the estimated AADT values erroneous. Based on a survey conducted by the authors, 97% of the 39 public transportation agencies use the factor-based AADT estimation model, and these agencies face the aforementioned challenges while using factor-based models to estimate AADT. To derive a more accurate AADT, this paper presents the "estimAADTion" software, which is an open-source software developed based on a machine learning method called support vector regression (SVR) for estimating AADT using 24-hour short-term count data. DOTs conduct short-term counts at different locations periodically. This software has been designed to estimate AADT at a particular location from the short-term counts collected at those locations. In order to estimate AADT from short-term counts, the software uses data from permanent count stations to train the SVR model. The performance of the "estimAADTion" software is validated using the short-term count data from South Carolina. The Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of the AADT estimated from the software is 3%, while the factor-based method produces a MAPE value of 6%.

Abstract:
The possibility of spherically symmetric solutions in bi-metric theory of gravity is examined. It is shown that two possible black hole type solutions exists in the model. Spherically symmetric solution of general theory of relativity is recovered in the absence of the second metric. The result is compared with other bi-metric models as well as general theory of relativity.

The result is compared with other bi-metric models as well as general theory of relativity.

Abstract:
A procedure is developed to automatically correct the bit flip and the arbitrary phase change errors in Generalized Bell states (GBS). The phase and parity characteristics of the GBS are encoded in ancilla bits without altering the state under consideration. The same information is then used to correct the state at a different point, through appropriate unitrary control operations. It is also show…

It is also shown that the distributed/indirect measurements on ancilla can yield the error syndrome. The restricted error correction circuit obtained for N-qubit entangled states of the Bell type, are generalized for the corresponding higher dimensions, thus opening up the possibility of designing of task specific error correction circuits.

A one way partial quantum bit commitment protocol is developed, using states with built-in classical correlation, completely independent of entanglement. A one way partial quantum bit commitment protocol is developed, using states with built-in classical correlation, completely independent of entanglement. It involves concealing information in a set of mutually non-orthogonal states and revealing it through measurements on a set of product states that are mutually orthogonal. Given $2^N$ choices to commit from, the protocol encodes each choice in a $N+1$ qubit state, from $2^N$ non-orthogonal states. A previously agreed upon $N$ qubit state corresponding to each choice, when coupled with the $N+1$ qubit state, yields an element belonging to a set of orthogonal product states, which can be deterministically distinguished. The protocol is demonstrated by implementing it for a `coin-toss' game. A procedure to enhance security of the protocol is explicated, increasing the number of qubits required. Thus a modification is suggested to reduce this required number.

We explicate conditions under which, the two magnon state becomes highly entangled and is useful for several quantum communication protocols. This state, which is experimentally realizable in quantum dots using Heisenberg exchange interaction, is found to be suitable for carrying out deterministic teleportation of an arbitrary two qubit composite system. Further, conditions for which the channel capacity reaches "Holevo bound", allowing maximal amount of classical information to be encoded, are derived. Later, an explicit protocol for the splitting and sharing of a two qubit entangled state among two parties, using this state as an entangled resource, is demonstrated.

On the resolvent technique for stability of plane Couette flow
Authors:
Pablo Braz e Silva
Abstract:
We discuss the application of the resolvent technique to prove stability of plane Couette flow.
Using this technique, we derive a threshold amplitude for perturbations that can lead to turbulence in terms of the Reynolds number. Our main objective is to show exactly how much control one should have over the perturbation to assure stability via this technique.

We present results concerning resolvent estimates for the linear operator associated with the system of differential equations governing perturbations of the Couette flow. We prove estimates on the L_2 norm of the resolvent of this operator showing this norm to be proportional to the Reynolds number R for a region of the unstable half plane. For the remaining region, we show that the problem can be reduced to estimating the solution of a homogeneous ordinary differential equation with non-homogeneous boundary conditions. Numerical approximations indicate that the norm of the resolvent is proportional to R in the whole region of interest.
