An Ising model on a 3D honeycomb zigzag-ladder lattice: a solution to the ground-state problem and application to the SrRE$_2$O$_4$ and BaRE$_2$O$_4$ magnets
Abstract: An exact solution (incomplete) of the ground-state problem for an Ising model in an external field on a 3D honeycomb zigzag-ladder lattice with two types of sites is found. It is shown that the geometrical frustration due to the presence of triangle elements leads to the emergence of a variety of magnetic phases. The majority of these are partially disordered (highly degenerate). The theoretical r… ▽ More

Ground-state structures in Ising magnets on the Shastry-Sutherland lattice with long-range interactions and fractional magnetization plateaus in TmB4
Abstract: A method for the study of the ground states of lattice-gas models or equivalent spin models with extended-range interactions is developed. It is shown that effect of longer-range interactions can be studied in terms of the solution of the ground-state problem for a model with short-range interactions. The method is applied to explain the emergence of fractional magnetization plateaus in TmB4 that… ▽ More

Ground states of an Ising model on an extended Shastry-Sutherland lattice and the 1/2-magnetization plateau in some rare-earth-metal tetraborides
Abstract: A complete solution of the ground-state problem for an Ising model on the Shastry-Sutherland lattice with an additional interaction along the diagonals of "empty" squares in an applied magnetic field is presented. A rigorous proof is given that this interaction gives rise to a plateau at one-half of the saturation magnetization. Such a fractional plateau has been observed in some rare-earth-metal… ▽ More

Phase transitions in the Mitsui model
Abstract: In this paper, phase transitions in the Mitsui model without longitudinal field but with a transverse one are investigated in the mean field approximation. The one-to-one correspondence has been established between this model and the two-sublattice Ising-type model with longitudinal and transverse fields. Phase diagrams and diagrams of existence of the ferroelectric phase are constructed. In the c… ▽ More
