Irreducible representations (irreps) of $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded supersymmetry algebra of ${\cal N}=2$ are obtained by the method of induced representation and they are used to derive $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded supersymmetric classical actions. The irreps are four dimensional for $ λ= 0$ where $ λ$ is an eigenvalue of the Casimir element, and eight dimensional for $λ\neq 0.$ The eight dimensional irreps reduce to four dimensional ones only when $λ$ and an eigenvalue of Hamiltonian satisfy a particular relation. The reduced four dimensional irreps are used to define $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-graded supersymmetry transformations and two types of classical actions invariant under the transformations are presented. It is shown that one of the Noether charges vanishes if all the variables of specific $\mathbb{Z}_2^2$-degree are auxiliary.

In the present paper we study the representations of the Jacobi algebra. More concretely, we define, analogously to the case of semi-simple Lie algebras, the Verma modules over the Jacobi algebra ${\cal G}_2$. We study their reducibility and give explicit construction of the reducible Verma modules exhibiting the corresponding singular vectors. Using this information we give a complete classification of the reducible Verma modules. More than this we exhibit their interrelation of embeddings between these modules. These embeddings are illustrated by diagrams of the embedding patterns so that each reducible Verma module appears in one such diagram.

This is done by finding a realization of a $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded Lie superalgebra in terms of a standard Lie superalgebra and the Clifford algebra. The realization allows us to map many models of superconformal quantum mechanics (SCQM) to their $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded extensions. It is observed that for the simplest SCQM with $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ symmetry there exist two inequivalent $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded extensions. Applying the standard prescription of conformal quantum mechanics, spectrum of the SCQMs with the $\mathbb{Z}_2^3$-graded $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ symmetry is analyzed. It is shown that many models of SCQM can be extended to $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$-graded setting.

COVID-19 pandemic has created an extreme pressure on the global healthcare services. Fast, reliable and early clinical assessment of the severity of the disease can help in allocating and prioritizing resources to reduce mortality. In order to study the important blood biomarkers for predicting disease mortality, a retrospective study was conducted on 375 COVID-19 positive patients admitted to Tongji Hospital (China) from January 10 to February 18, 2020. Demographic and clinical characteristics, and patient outcomes were investigated using machine learning tools to identify key biomarkers to predict the mortality of individual patient. A nomogram was developed for predicting the mortality risk among COVID-19 patients. Lactate dehydrogenase, neutrophils (%), lymphocyte (%), high sensitive C-reactive protein, and age - acquired at hospital admission were identified as key predictors of death by multi-tree XGBoost model. The area under curve (AUC) of the nomogram for the derivation and validation cohort were 0.961 and 0.991, respectively. An integrated score (LNLCA) was calculated with the corresponding death probability. COVID-19 patients were divided into three subgroups: low-, moderate- and high-risk groups using LNLCA cut-off values of 10.4 and 12.65 with the death probability less than 5%, 5% to 50%, and above 50%, respectively. The prognostic model, nomogram and LNLCA score can help in early detection of high mortality risk of COVID-19 patients, which will help doctors to improve the management of patient stratification.

We propose a data-assimilation method for evaluating the finite-temperature magnetization of a permanent magnet over a high-dimensional composition space. Based on a general framework for constructing a predictor from two data sets including missing values, a practical scheme for magnetic materials is formulated in which a small number of experimental data in limited composition space are integrated with a larger number of first-principles calculation data. We apply the scheme to (Nd$_{1-α-β-γ}$Pr$_α$La$_β$Ce$_γ$)$_{2}$(Fe$_{1-δ-ζ}$Co$_δ$Ni$_ζ$)$_{14}$B. The magnetization in the whole $(α, β, γ, δ, ζ)$ space at arbitrary temperature is obtained. It is shown that the Co do** does not enhance the magnetization at low temperatures, whereas the magnetization increases with increasing $δ$ above 320 K.

Multi-layered materials provide fascinating platforms to realize various functional properties, possibly leading to future electronic devices controlled by external fields. In particular, layered magnets coupled with conducting layers have been extensively studied recently for possible control of their transport properties via the spin structure. Successful control of quantum-transport properties in the materials with antiferromagnetic (AFM) layers, so-called natural spin-valve structure, has been reported for the Dirac Fermion and topological/axion materials. However, a bulk crystal in which magnetic and superconducting layers are alternately stacked has not been realized until now, and the search for functional properties in it is an interesting yet unexplored field in material science. Here, we discover superconductivity providing such an ideal platform in EuSn2As2 with the van der Waals stacking of magnetic Eu layers and superconducting Sn-As layers, and present the first demonstration of a natural spin-valve effect on the superconducting current. Below the superconducting transition temperature (Tc), the electrical resistivity becomes zero in the in-plane direction. In contrast, it, surprisingly, remains finite down to the lowest temperature in the out-of-plane direction, mostly due to the structure of intrinsic magnetic Josephson junctions in EuSn2As2. The magnetic order of the Eu layers (or natural spin-valve) is observed to be extremely soft, allowing one to easy control of the out-of-plane to in-plane resistivities ratio from 1 to infinity by weak external magnetic fields. The concept of multi-functional materials with stacked magnetic-superconducting layers will open a new pathway to develop novel spintronic devices with magnetically controllable superconductivity.

The electronic structure of the ferromagnetic material CeRh$_{3}$B$_{2}$ is studied by means of first-principles calculations with an emphasis on the treatment of localized $4f$ states around Ce. Via the construction of an effective spin model from electronic structure calculations, we estimated the Curie temperature $T_{\rm C}$ of CeRh$_{3}$B$_{2}$ and found a specific configuration of the electronic structure which explains the exceptionally high measured value of $T_{\rm C} \sim 120$ K as well as the small saturation magnetization and the topology of the Fermi surface. Present advance in the understanding of the subtle nature of the $4f$-electron state in CeRh$_{3}$B$_{2}$ that brings about the exceptionally high $T_{\rm C}$ should be also of technological relevance to exploit the utility of Ce in rare-earth permanent magnets.

It is known that car drivers tilt their head toward the center of a curve. In addition, drivers are generally less susceptible to carsickness than are the passengers. This paper uses a mathematical model to investigate the effect of the head-tilt strategy on motion sickness. It is shown that tilting the head in the centripetal direction reduces the estimated motion sickness incidence (MSI), defined as the percentage of subjects who vomited. In addition, the head movements of both drivers and passengers were measured in a real car. It is also shown that the estimated MSI of the drivers is smaller than that of the passengers. Experimental results presented in previous studies demonstrated that the severity of motion sickness was reduced when passengers imitated the head tilt of the driver. These results strongly suggest that the driver's head tilt reduces motion sickness, and this can be understood as a subjective vertical conflict.

We investigate the effects of magnetic inhomogeneities and thermal fluctuations on the magnetic properties of a rare earth intermetallic compound, Nd$_2$Fe$_{14}$B. The constrained Monte Carlo method is applied to a Nd$_2$Fe$_{14}$B bulk system to realize the experimentally observed spin reorientation and magnetic anisotropy constants $K^{\rm A}_m (m=1, 2, 4)$ at finite temperatures. % Subsequently, it is found that the temperature dependence of $K^{\rm A}_1$ deviates from the Callen--Callen law, $K^{\rm A}_1(T) \propto M(T)^3$, even above room temperature, $T_{\rm R}\sim 300\rm\, K$, when the Fe (Nd) anisotropy terms are removed to leave only the Nd (Fe) anisotropy terms. This is because the exchange couplings between Nd moments and Fe spins are much smaller than those between Fe spins. % It is also found that the exponent $n$ in the external magnetic field $H_{\rm ext}$ response of barrier height $\mathcal{F}_{\rm B}=\mathcal{F}_{\rm B}^0(1-H_{\rm ext}/H_0)^n$ is less than $2$ in the low-temperature region below $T_{\rm R}$, whereas $n$ approaches $2$ when $T>T_{\rm R}$, indicating the presence of Stoner--Wohlfarth-type magnetization rotation. This reflects the fact that the magnetic anisotropy is mainly governed by the $K^{\rm A}_1$ term in the $T>T_{\rm R}$ region.

Objective: We investigated the effect of the passenger head-tilt strategy on the severity of carsickness in lateral acceleration situations in automobiles. Background: It is well known that the driver is generally less susceptible to carsickness than are the passengers. However, it is also known that the driver tilts his or her head toward the curve center when negotiating a curve, whereas the passenger's head moves in the opposite direction. Therefore, we hypothesized that the head-tilt strategy has the effect of reducing the severity of carsickness. Method: A passenger car was driven on a quasi-oval track with a pylon slalom while the participant sat in the navigator seat. The experiment was terminated when either the participant felt the initial symptoms of motion sickness or the car finished 20 laps. In the natural head-tilt condition, the participants were instructed to sit naturally, to relax, and not to oppose the lateral acceleration intentionally. In the active head-tilt condition, the participants were asked to tilt their heads against the centrifugal acceleration, thus imitating the driver's head tilt. Results: The number of laps achieved in the active condition was significantly greater than that in the natural condition. In addition, the subjective ratings of motion sickness and symptoms in the active condition were significantly lower than those in the natural condition. Conclusion: We suggest that an active head tilt against centrifugal acceleration reduces the severity of motion sickness. Application: Potential applications of this study include development of a methodology to reduce carsickness.

A mathematical model of motion sickness incidence (MSI) is derived by integrating neurophysiological knowledge of the vestibular system to predict the severity of motion sickness of humans. Bos et al. proposed the successful mathematical model of motion sickness based on the neurophysiological mechanism based on the subject vertical conflict (SVC) theory. We expand this model to 6-DOF motion, including head rotation, by introducing the otolith-canal interaction. Then the model is applied to an analysis of passengers' comfort. It is known that the driver is less susceptible to motion sickness than are the passengers. In addition, it is known that the driver tilts his/her head toward the curve direction when curve driving, whereas the passengers' head movement is likely to occur in the opposite direction. Thus, the effect of the head tilt strategy on motion sickness was investigated by the proposed mathematical model. The head movements of drivers and passengers were measured in slalom driving. Then, the MSI of the drivers and that of the passengers predicted by the proposed model were compared. The results revealed that the head movement toward the centripetal direction has a significant effect in reducing the MSI in the sense of SVC theory.

One of the most interesting problems discerned when applying the Black--Scholes model to financial derivatives, is reconciling the deviation between expected and observed values. In our recent work, we derived a new model based on the Black--Scholes model and formulated a new mathematical approach to an inverse problem in financial markets. In this paper, we apply microlocal analysis to prove a uniqueness of the solution to our inverse problem. While microlocal analysis is used for various models in physics and engineering, this is the first attempt to apply it to a model in financial markets. First, we explain our model, which is a type of arbitrage model. Next we illustrate our new mathematical approach, and then for space-dependent real drift, we obtain stable linearization and an integral equation. Finally, by applying microlocal analysis to the integral equation, we prove our uniqueness of the solution to our new mathematical model in financial markets.

The randomness is introduced by replacing $c_1 \to -c_1$ for each link with the probability $p_1$ and $c_2 \to -c_2$ for each plaquette with the probability $p_2$. We calculate the phase diagram by a new kind of mean field theory that does not assume the replica symmetry and also by Monte Carlo simulations. For the case $p_1=p_2(\equiv p)$, the Monte Carlo simulations exhibit that (i) the region of the Higgs phase in the Coulomb-Higgs transition diminishes as $p$ increases, and (ii) the first-order phase transition between the Higgs and the confinement phases disappear for $p \ge p_c \simeq 0.01$. We discuss the implications of the results to the quantum memory studied by Kitaev et al. and the Z(2) gauge neural network on a lattice.

We study the effects of quenched disorder on the two-dimensional d-wave superconductors (SC's) at zero temperature by Monte-Carlo simulations. The model is defined on the three-dimesional (3D) lattice and the SC pair field is put on each spatial link as motivated in the resonating-valence-bond theory of the high-$T_{\rm c}$ SC's. For the nonrandom case, the model exhibits a second-order phase transition to a SC state as density of charge carriers is increased. It belongs to the universality class {\it different from} that of the 3D XY model. Quenched disorders (impurities) are introduced both in the hop** amplitude and the plaquette term of pair fields. Then the second-order transition disappears at a critical concentration of quenched disorder, $p_c\simeq 15%$. Implication of the results to cold atomic systems in optical lattices is also discussed.

We study the three-dimensional (3D) compact U(1) lattice gauge theory coupled with $N$-flavor Higgs fields by means of the Monte Carlo simulations. This model is relevant to multi-component superconductors, antiferromagnetic spin systems in easy plane, inflational cosmology, etc. It is known that there is no phase transition in the N=1 model. For N=2, we found that the system has a second-order phase transition line $\tilde{c}_1(c_2)$ in the $c_2$(gauge coupling)$-c_1$(Higgs coupling) plane, which separates the confinement phase and the Higgs phase. Numerical results suggest that the phase transition belongs to the universality class of the 3D XY model as the previous works by Babaev et al. and Smiseth et al. suggested. For N=3, we found that there exists a critical line similar to that in the N=2 model, but the critical line is separated into two parts; one for $c_2 < c_{2{\rm tc}}=2.4\pm 0.1$ with first-order transitions, and the other for $ c_{2{\rm tc}} < c_2$ with second-order transitions, indicating the existence of a tricritical point. We verified that similar phase diagram appears for the N=4 and N=5 systems. We also studied the case of anistropic Higgs coupling in the N=3 model and found that there appear two second-order phase transitions or a single second-order transition and a crossover depending on the values of the anisotropic Higgs couplings. This result indicates that an "enhancement" of phase transition occurs when multiple phase transitions coincide at a certain point in the parameter space.
