Mutually elusive: vectorlike antileptons and leptoquarks
Abstract: We study the properties of vectorlike fermions that have the same gauge charges as the Standard Model lepton doublets, but opposite lepton number. These antileptons undergo decays mediated by heavier scalar leptoquarks, while the symmetries of this renormalizable model protect the vectorlike fermions and the leptoquarks from standard decays probed so far at colliders. Vectorlike leptons and long-lived bosons at the LHC
Abstract: We study a renormalizable theory that includes a heavy weak-singlet vectorlike lepton, $τ^\prime$, that decays into a pseudoscalar boson and a tau lepton. We show that this can be the dominant decay mode of $τ^\prime$ provided the pseudoscalar couplings deviate from the case of a Nambu-Goldstone boson. For a range of parameters, the pseudoscalar is long-lived, and mainly decays into a photon pair… ▽ More

Proton decay from quark and lepton compositeness
Abstract: Within a chiral $SU(15)$ gauge theory in which the Standard Model fermions are bound states of massless preons, we show that proton-decay operators are likely induced at the compositeness scale, $Λ_{\rm pre}$. Our estimate of the limit imposed by searches for proton decays is $Λ_{\rm pre} > 10^4 \, {\rm TeV}^{1/2} \, C_8^{1/4} \, m_{\cal Q}^{1/2}$, where $C_8$ is a rescaled coefficient of an 8-pre… ▽ More

New Physics Searches at Kaon and Hyperon Factories
Abstract: Rare meson decays are among the most sensitive probes of both heavy and light new physics. A model of quark and lepton compositeness
Abstract: In the chiral $SU(15)$ gauge theory presented here, the quarks and leptons are bound states ("prebaryons") of massless preons. The Standard Model charges of the preons imply 3 generations of quarks and leptons, plus some vectorlike fermions lighter than the confining scale $Λ_{\rm pre}$. Under certain assumptions about the chiral dynamics, bound states of two prebaryons behave as Higgs fields. The… ▽ More

Dijet and electroweak limits on a $Z'$ boson coupled to quarks
Abstract: An insightful way of presenting the LHC limits on dijet resonances is the coupling-mass plot for a $Z'$ boson that has flavor-independent quark interactions. This also illustrates the comparison of low-mass LHC sensitivity with constraints on the flavor-independent $Z'$ boson from electroweak and quarkonium measurements. General solution to the U(1) anomaly equations
Abstract: The anomaly cancellation equations for the $U(1)$ gauge group can be written as a cubic equation in $n-1$ integer variables, where $n$ is the number of Weyl fermions carrying the $U(1)$ charge. We solve this Diophantine cubic equation by providing a parametrization of the charges in terms of $n-2$ integers, and prove that this is the most general solution.

Abstract: We present a collection of signatures for physics beyond the standard model that need to be explored at the LHC. The signatures are organized according to the experimental objects that appear in the final state, and in particular the number of high pT leptons. Our report, which includes brief experimental and theoretical reviews as well as original results, summarizes the activities of the "New… ▽ More

Massive color-octet bosons and pairs of resonances at hadron colliders
Abstract: We analyze collider signatures of massive color-octet bosons whose couplings to quarks are suppressed. Gauge invariance forces the octets to couple at tree level only in pairs to gluons, with a strength set by the QCD gauge coupling. For a spin-1 octet, the cross section for pair production at hadron colliders is larger than that for a quark of equal mass. The octet decays into two jets, leading… ▽ More

Spinless photon dark matter from two universal extra dimensions
Abstract: We explore the properties of dark matter in theories with two universal extra dimensions, where the lightest Kaluza-Klein state is a spin-0 neutral particle, representing a six-dimensional photon polarized along the extra dimensions. Annihilation of this 'spinless photon' proceeds predominantly through Higgs boson exchange, and is largely independent of other Kaluza-Klein particles. The measured… ▽ More

Leptons and photons at the LHC: cascades through spinless adjoints
Abstract: We study the hadron collider phenomenology of (1,0) Kaluza-Klein modes along two universal extra dimensions compactified on the chiral square. Cascade decays of spinless adjoints proceed through tree-level 3-body decays involving leptons as well as one-loop 2-body decays involving photons. As a result, spectacular events with as many as six charged leptons, or one photon plus four charged lepton… ▽ More

Gauge Trimming of Neutrino Masses
Abstract: We show that under a new U(1) gauge symmetry, which is non-anomalous in the presence of one ``right-handed neutrino'' per generation and consistent with the standard model Yukawa couplings, the most general fermion charges are determined in terms of four rational parameters. This generalization of the B-L symmetry with generation-dependent lepton charges leads to neutrino masses induced by opera… ▽ More

Spin-Dependent Macroscopic Forces from New Particle Exchange
Abstract: Long-range forces between macroscopic objects are mediated by light particles that interact with the electrons or nucleons, and include spin-dependent static components as well as spin- and velocity-dependent components. We parametrize the long-range potential between two fermions assuming rotational invariance, and find 16 different components. Applying this result to electrically neutral objec… ▽ More

Resonances from Two Universal Extra Dimensions
Abstract: Standard model gauge bosons propagating in two universal extra dimensions give rise to heavy spin-1 and spin-0 particles. The lightest of these, carrying Kaluza-Klein numbers (1,0), may be produced only in pairs at colliders, whereas the (1,1) modes, which are heavier by a factor of \sqrt{2}, may be singly produced. We show that the cascade decays of (1,1) particles generate a series of closely-… ▽ More

Anomaly-Free Sets of Fermions
Abstract: We present new techniques for finding anomaly-free sets of fermions. Although the anomaly cancellation conditions typically include cubic equations with integer variables that cannot be solved in general, we prove by construction that any chiral set of fermions can be embedded in a larger set of fermions which is chiral and anomaly-free. Applying these techniques to extensions of the Standard Mo… ▽ More

Six-Dimensional Gauge Theory on the Chiral Square
Abstract: We construct gauge theories in two extra dimensions compactified on the chiral square, which is a simple compactification that leads to chiral fermions in four dimensions. Stationarity of the action on the boundary specifies the boundary conditions for gauge fields. Any six-dimensional gauge field decomposed in Kaluza-Klein modes includes a tower of heavy spin-1 particles whose longitudinal pola… ▽ More
