As the share of variable renewable energy sources increases in the electricity mix, new solutions are needed to build a flexible and reliable grid. Energy arbitrage with battery storage systems supports renewable energy integration into the grid by shifting demand and increasing the overall utilization of power production systems. In this paper, we propose a mixed integer linear programming model for energy arbitrage on the day-ahead market, that takes into account operational and availability constraints of asset owners willing to get an additional revenue stream from their storage asset. This approach optimally schedules the charge and discharge operations associated with the most profitable trading strategy, and achieves between 80% and 90% of the maximum obtainable profits considering one-year time horizons using the prices of electricity in multiple European countries including Germany, France, Italy, Denmark, and Spain.

A short review will be made of elliptic integrals, widely applied in GPS (Global Positioning System) communications (accounting for General Relativity Theory-effects), cosmology, Black hole physics and celestial mechanics. Then a novel analytical method for calculation of zero-order elliptic integrals in the Legendre form will be presented, based on the combination of several methods from the theory of elliptic functions: 1. the recurrent system of equations for higher-order elliptic integrals in two different representations. 2. uniformization of four-dimensional algebraic equations by means of the Weierstrass elliptic function 3.a variable transformation, inversely (quadratically) proportional to a new variable. The developed method is a step forward towards constructing analytical methods, which can improve the precision of the calculation of elliptic integrals, necessary both for theoretical and experimental problems.

The ATLAS EventIndex system comprises the catalogue of all events collected, processed or generated by the ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC accelerator, and all associated software tools to collect, store and query this information. ATLAS records several billion particle interactions every year of operation, processes them for analysis and generates even larger simulated data samples; a global catalogue is needed to keep track of the location of each event record and be able to search and retrieve specific events for in-depth investigations. Each EventIndex record includes summary information on the event itself and the pointers to the files containing the full event. Most components of the EventIndex system are implemented using BigData open-source tools. This paper describes the architectural choices and their evolution in time, as well as the past, current and foreseen future implementations of all EventIndex components.

The propagation time of a signal, emitted by a moving along an elliptical orbit satellite from the GPS (or GLONASS) satellite confi gurations is a very important ingredient of the theory, based on the formalism of the null cone and accounting for the effects of the General Relativity Theory. For the case of satellites, orbiting along a plane elliptic orbit, it has been proved that the propagation time for the signal between the satellites is given by a combination of elliptic integrals of the first, second and third kind. For the more general case of satellites on a space-distributed elliptic orbit, the propagation time is expressed by higher (fourth) order elliptic integrals, which according to the standard theory can be expressed recurrently by means of lower-order elliptic integrals. In the concrete case, the elliptic integrals of the second and the fourth order are expressed by means of a combination of irrational functions and the zero-order elliptic integral in the Legendre form. It has been proved that for the investigated case, second-order elliptic integrals can be expressed by elementary functions.

The ESS allows one to asynchronously deliver only the input events required by ES processing, with the aim to decrease data traffic over WAN and improve overall data processing throughput. A prototype of ESS was developed to deliver streaming events to fine-grained ES jobs. Based on it, an intelligent Data Delivery Service (iDDS) is under development to decouple the "cold format" and the processing format of the data, which also opens the opportunity to include the production systems of other HEP experiments. Here we will at first present the ESS model view and its motivations for iDDS system. Then we will also present the iDDS schema, architecture and the applications of iDDS.

The video technology scenery has been very vivid over the past years, with novel video coding technologies introduced that promise improved compression performance over state-of-the-art technologies. Despite the fact that a lot of video datasets are available, representative content of the wide parameter space along with subjective evaluations of variations of encoded content from an unpartial end is required. In response to this requirement, this paper features a dataset, the BVI-CC. Three video codecs were deployed to create the variations of the encoded sequences: High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) Test Model (HM), AOMedia Video 1 (AV1), and Versatile Video Coding (VVC) Test Model (VTM). Nine source video sequences were carefully selected to offer both diversity and representativeness in the spatio-temporal domain. Different spatial resolution versions of the sequences were created and encoded by all three codecs at pre-defined target bit rates. The compression efficiency of the codecs was evaluated with commonly used objective quality metrics, and the subjective quality of their reconstructed content was also evaluated through psychophysical experiments. Additionally, an adaptive bit rate (convex hull rate-distortion optimization across spatial resolutions) test case was assessed using both objective and subjective evaluations. Finally, the computational complexities of the tested codecs were examined. All data have been made publicly available as part of the dataset, which can be used for coding performance evaluation and video quality metric development.

The second author and Katzarkov introduced categorical invariants based on counting of full triangulated subcategories in a given triangulated category $\mathcal T$, and they demonstrated different choices of additional properties of the subcategories being counted, in particular - an approach to make non-commutative counting in $\mathcal T$ dependable on a stability condition $σ\in {\rm Stab}(\mathcal T)$. In this paper, we focus on this approach. After recalling the definitions of a stable non-commutative curve in $\mathcal T$ and related notions, we prove a few general facts and study an example: $\mathcal T = D^b(Q)$, where $Q$ is the acyclic triangular quiver. In previous papers, it was shown that there are two non-commutative curves of non-commutative genus $1$ and infinitely many non-commutative curves of non-commutative genus $0$ in $D^b(Q)$. Our studies here imply that for an open and dense subset in ${\rm Stab}(D^b(Q))$ the stable non-commutative curves in $D^b(Q)$ are finitely many. This paper also introduces counting of semistable derived points and shows that the corresponding invariants are finite on an open dense subset of ${\rm Stab}\big(D^b(Q)\big)$.

Several space missions such as GRACE, GRAIL, ACES and others rely on intersatellite communications (ISC) between two satellites at a large distance one from another. The main goal of the theory is to formulate all the navigation observables within the General Relativity Theory (GRT). The same approach should be applied also to the intersatellite GPS-communications (in perspective also between the GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellite constellations). In this paper a theoretical approach has been developed for ISC between two satellites moving on (one-plane) elliptical orbits based on the introduction of two gravity null cones with origins at the emitting-signal and receiving-signal satellites. The two null cones account for the variable distance between the satellites during their uncorrelated motion. This intersection of the two null cones gives the space-time interval in GRT. Applying some theorems from higher algebra, it was proved that this space-time distance can become zero, consequently it can be also negative and positive. But in order to represent the geodesic distance travelled by the signal, the space-time interval has to be "compatible" with the Euclidean distance. So this "compatibility condition", conditionally called "condition for ISC", is the most important consequence of the theory. The other important consequence is that the geodesic distance turns out to be the space-time interval, but with account also of the "condition for ISC". The geodesic distance is proved to be greater than the Euclidean distance - a result, entirely based on the "two null cones approach" and moreover, without any use of the Shapiro delay formulae. Application of the same higher algebra theorems shows that the geodesic distance cannot have any zeroes, in accord with being greater than the Euclidean distance.

In our previous paper, viewing $D^b(K(l))$ as a non-commutative curve, where $K(l)$ is the Kronecker quiver with $l$-arrows, we introduced categorical invariants via counting of non-commutative curves. Roughly, these invariants are sets of subcategories in a given category and their quotients. The non-commutative curve-counting invariants are obtained by restricting the subcategories to be equivalent to $D^b(K(l))$. The general definition defines much larger class of invariants and many of them behave properly with respect to fully faithful functors. Here, after recalling the definition, we focus on examples and extend our studies beyond counting. We enrich our invariants with structures: the inclusion of subcategories makes them partially ordered sets, and considering semi-orthogonal pairs of subcategories as edges amount to directed graphs. In addition to computing the non-commutative curve-counting invariants in $D^b(Q)$ for two affine quivers, for $ A_n$ and $D_4$ we derive formulas for counting of the subcategories of type $D^b(A_k)$ in $D^b(A_n)$, whereas for the two affine quivers and for $D_4$ we determine and count all generated by an exceptional collection subcategories. Estimating the numbers counting non-commutative curves in $D^b({\mathbb P}^2)$ modulo group action we prove finiteness and that an exact determining of these numbers leads to proving (or disproving) of Markov conjecture. Regarding the mentioned structure of a partially ordered set we initiate intersection theory of non-commutative curves. Via the structure of a directed graph we build an analogue to the classical curve complex used in Teichmueller and Thurston theory. The paper contains many pictures of graphs and presents an approach to Markov Conjecture via counting of subgraphs in a graph associated with $D^b(P^2)$. Some of the results proved here were announced in the previous work.

Several space missions such as GRACE, GRAIL, ACES and others rely on intersatellite communications (ISC) between two satellites at a large distance one from another. The main goal of the theory is to formulate all the navigation observables within the General Relativity Theory. The same approach should be applied also to the intersatellite GPS-communications (in perspective also between the GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellite constellations). In this paper a theoretical approach has been developed for ISC between two satellites moving on (one-plane) elliptical orbits, based on the introduction of two gravity null cones with origins at the emitting-signal and receiving-signal satellites. The two null cones account for the variable distance between the satellites during their uncorrelated motion. The intersection of the two null cones defines a distance, which can be found from a differential equation in full derivatives. This distance is the space-time interval in GRT. This interpretation enables the strict mathematical proof that the geodesic distance is greater than the Euclidean distance - a result, entirely based on the "two null cones approach" and moreover, without any use of the Shapiro delay formulae. Consistency between several other newly derived numerical parameters is noted.

We introduce several notions and give examples.
We prove that ${\rm Stab}(D^b(K(l)))\cong {\mathbb C}\times \mathcal H$ for $l\geq 3$, where $K(l)$ is $l$-Kronecker quiver. This is an example of SOD, where ${\rm Stab}( \langle \mathcal T_1,\mathcal T_2\rangle )\not \cong{\rm Stab}(\mathcal T_1)\times {\rm Stab}(\mathcal T_2)$.
This example suggest a new notion of a norm, strictly increasing on $\{D^b(K(l))\}_{l\geq 2}$. To a triangulated category $\mathcal T$ which has property of a phase gap we attach a non-negative number $\Vert \mathcal T \Vert_{\varepsilon}$. Natural assumptions on a SOD imply $ \Vert \langle \mathcal T_1,\mathcal T_2\rangle \Vert_{\varepsilon}\geq {\rm max}\{ \Vert \mathcal T_1 \Vert_{\varepsilon}, \Vert\mathcal T_2 \Vert_{\varepsilon}\}$. Using this we define a topology on the set of equivalence classes of triangulated categories with a phase gap, where the set of discrete derived categories is a discrete subset and the rationality of a smooth surface $S$ ensures that $[D^b(point)] \in {\rm Cl}([D^b(S)])$.
Viewing $D^b(K(l))$ as a non-commutative curve, we observe that it is reasonable to count non-commutative curves in any category in a small neighborhood of $D^b(K(l))$. Examples show that this idea (non-commutative curve-counting) opens directions to new categorical structures and connections to number theory and classical geometry. We give a definition, which specializes to the non-commutative curve-counting invariants. In an example arising on the A side we specialize our definition to non-commutative Calabi-Yau curve-counting, where the entities we count are a Calabi-Yau modification of $D^b(K(l))$.
Finally we speculate that one might consider a holomorphic family of categories, introduced by Kontsevich, as a non-commutative extension with the norm playing a role similar to the classical notion of degree of an extension in Galois theory.

Certain conditions on the Ext-nontrivial couples (exceptional objects $X,Y\in \mathcal A$ with ${\rm Ext}^1(X,Y)\neq 0$ and ${\rm Ext}^1(Y,X)\neq 0$) were shown to imply regularity-preserving. This paper is a brief review of the previous paper (with emphasis on regularity preserving property) and we add some remarks and conjectures.
It is known that in Dynkin quivers ${\rm Hom}(ρ,ρ')=0$ or ${\rm Ext}^1(ρ,ρ')=0$ for any two exceptional representations. In the present paper we use this property to show that for any Dynkin quiver $Q$ there are no Ext-nontrivial couples in $Rep_k(Q)$, which implies regularity preserving of $Rep_k(Q)$, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field. We study this property in other quivers. In particular in any star quiver with three arms $Q$ for any two exceptional representations $ρ, ρ'$ we have ${\rm Hom}(ρ,ρ')=0$ or ${\rm Ext}^1(ρ,ρ')=0$ provided that $ρ$ or $ρ'$ is a thin representation. In the previous version we asserted falsely that this holds for any two exceptional representations (without imposing the restriction that one of them is thin) for extended Dynkin quivers $\widetilde{\mathbb E}_6, \widetilde{\mathbb E}_7, \widetilde{\mathbb E}_8 $.

For a given stability condition $σ$ on a triangulated category we define a $σ$-exceptional collection as an Ext-exceptional collection, whose elements are $σ$-semistable with phases contained in an open interval of length one. If there exists a full $σ$-exceptional collection, then $σ$ is generated by this collection in a procedure described by E. Macrì.
Constructing $σ$-exceptional collections of length at least three in $D^b(\mathcal A)$ from a non-semistable exceptional object, where $\mathcal A$ is a hereditary hom-finite abelian category, we introduce certain conditions on the Ext-nontrivial couples (couples of exceptional objects $X,Y\in \mathcal A$ with ${\rm Ext}^1(X,Y)\neq 0$ and ${\rm Ext}^1(Y,X)\neq 0$).
After a detailed study of the exceptional objects of two tame quivers $Q_1$ and $Q_2$ with three and four vertices, respectively, we observe that the needed conditions do hold in $Rep_k(Q_1)$, $Rep_k(Q_2)$, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field.
Combining these findings, we prove that for each $σ\in {\rm Stab}(D^b(Q_1))$ there exists a full $σ$-exceptional collection. It follows that ${\rm Stab}(D^b(Q_1))$ is connected.

The description of the spaces as well as the proofs of our results use only the structure theory of reductive groups, in particular the notion of "stem" of a reduced root system, introduced in the first paper of this series.

The third part of the present paper continues the investigation of the solution of the multivariable cubic algebraic equation for reparametrization invariance of the gravitational Lagrangian. The main result in this paper constitutes the fact that the earlier found parametrization functions of the cubic algebraic equation for reparametrization invariance of the gravitational Lagrangian can be considered also as uniformization functions. These functions are obtained as solutions of first - order nonlinear differential equations, as a result of which they depend only on the complex (uniformization) variable z. Further, it has been demonstrated that this uniformization can be extended to two complex variables, which is particularly important for investigating various physical metrics, for example the ADS metric of constant negative curvature (Lobachevsky spaces).

In a previous paper, the general approach for treatment of algebraic equations of different order in gravity theory was exposed, based on the important distinction between covariant and contravariant metric tensor components. In the present second part of the paper it has been shown that a multivariable cubic algebraic equation can also be parametrized by means of complicated, irrational and non-elliptic functions, depending on the elliptic Weierstrass function and its derivative. As a model example, the proposed before cubic algebraic equation for reparametrization invariance of the gravitational Lagrangian has been investigated.
This is quite different from the standard algebraic geometry approach, where only the parametrization of two-dimensional cubic algebraic equations has been considered. Also, the possible applications in modern cosmological theories has been commented.

This is different from standard algebraic geometry, where only two-dimensional cubic equations are parametrized with elliptic functions and not multivariable ones.
Physical applications of the approach have been considered in reference to theories with extra dimensions. The s.c. "length function" l(x) has been introduced and found as a solution of quasilinear differential equations in partial derivatives for two different cases of "compactification + rescaling" and "rescaling + compactification". New physically important relations (inequalities) between the parameters in the action are established, which cannot be derived in the case $l=1$ of the standard gravitational theory, but should be fulfilled also for that case.

In this paper a new block-structure method is presented for the solution of the well-known from gravity theory matrix system of equations g{ij}g{jk}=delta{i}{k} (with respect to the unknown covariant components g{ij} and by known contravariant ones g{jk}) by transforming this matrix system into a linear algebraic system of equations in the general N-dimensional case. Although powerful computer methods exist for the solution of this problem for a given (fixed) dimension of the matrices g{ij} and especially for numerical elements of g{ij}, the structure of the obtained linear algebraic system in the general N-dimensional case and for arbitrary elements of g{ij} (functions) has not been known.
The proposed new analytical block-structure method for the case of symmetrical matrices g{ij} and g{jk} (the standard case in gravity theory) is based on the construction of a block-structure matrix, whose "elements" are again matrices. The method allows to obtain the structure of this linear system in the general N-dimensional case, after multiplication (to the left) with the transponed matrix.
Some arguments are given why the proposed method may be applied, after some refinement and generalization for the case of non-symmetrical matrices g{ij} and g{jk}, for finding the graviton modes in the Kaluza-Klein expansion in theories with extra dimensions.

For both the cases of "rescaling + compactification" and "compactification + rescaling", quasilinear differential equations in partial derivatives have been obtained and the corresponding solutions have been found for the scale (length) function and for the case of a flat 4D Minkowski space, embedded into a 5D space with an exponential warp factor. It has been shown how the periodic properties of the uniformization functions-solutions of cubic algebraic equations in gravity theory enable the orbifold periodic identification of the points pr{c} and -pr{c} under compactification. It has been speculated that corrections to the extradimensional volume in theories with extra dimensions should be taken into account due to the non-euclidean nature of the Lobachevsky space. It has been demonstrated that in the Higgs mass generation model with two branes (a "hidden" and a "visible" one), to any mass on the visible brane there could correspond a number of physical masses. Algebraic equations for 4D Schwarzschild Black Holes in higher dimensional brane worlds have been obtained.

Based on the distinction between the covariant and contravariant metric tensor components in the framework of the affine geometry approach and the s.c. "gravitational theories with covariant and contravariant connection and metrics", it is shown that a wide variety of third, fourth, fifth, seventh, tenth- degree algebraic equations exists in gravity theory. This is important in view of finding new solutions of the Einstein's equations, if they are treated as algebraic ones. Since the obtained cubic algebraic equations are multivariable, the standard algebraic geometry approach for parametrization of two-dimensional cubic equations with the elliptic Weierstrass function cannot be applied. Nevertheless, for a previously considered cubic equation for reparametrization invariance of the gravitational Lagrangian and on the base of a newly introduced notion of "embedded sequence of cubic algebraic equations", it is demonstrated that in the multivariable case such a parametrization is also possible, but with complicated irrational and non-elliptic functions. After finding the solutions of a system of first - order nonlinear differential equations, these parametrization functions can be considered also as uniformization ones (depending only on the complex uniformization variable z) for the initial multivariable cubic equation.

Motivated by the necessity to find exact solutions with the elliptic Weierstrass function of the Einstein's equations (see gr-qc/0105022),the present paper develops further the proposed approach in hep-th/0107231, concerning the s.c. cubic algebraic equation for effective parametrization. Obtaining an ''embedded'' sequence of cubic equations, it is shown that it is possible to parametrize also a multi-variable cubic curve, which is not the standardly known case from algebraic geometry. Algebraic solutions for the contravariant metric tensor components are derived and the parametrization is extended in respect to the covariant components as well. It has been speculated that corrections to the extradimensional volume in theories with extra dimensions should be taken into account, due to the non-euclidean nature of the Lobachevsky space. It was shown that the mechanism of exponential "dam**" of the physical mass in the higher-dimensional brane theory may be more complicated due to the variety of contravariant metric components for a spacetime with a given constant curvature. The invariance of the low-energy type I string theory effective action is considered in respect not only to the known procedure of compactification to a four-dimensional spacetime, but also in respect to rescaling the contravariant metric components. As a result, instead of the simple algebraic relations between the parameters in the string action, quasilinear differential equations in partial derivatives are obtained, which have been solved for the most simple case. In the Appendix, a new block structure method is presented for solving the well known system of operator equations in gravity theory in the N-dimensional case.

A cubic algebraic equation for the effective parametrizations of the standard gravitational Lagrangian has been obtained without applying any variational principle. It was suggested that such an equation may find application in gravity theory, brane, string and Rundall-Sundrum theories. The obtained algebraic equation was brought by means of a linear-fractional transformation to a parametrizable form, expressed through the elliptic Weierstrass function, which was proved to satisfy the standard parametrizable form, but with $g_{2}$ and $g_{3}$ functions of a complex variable instead of the definite complex numbers (known from the usual arithmetic theory of elliptic functions and curves). The generally divergent (two) infinite sums of the inverse first and second powers of the poles in the complex plane were shown to be convergent in the investigated particular case, and the case of the infinite point of the linear-fractional transformation was investigated. Some relations were found, which ensure the parametrization of the cubic equation in its general form with the Weierstrass function.

The purpose of this paper is to propose the implementation of some methods from algebraic geometry in the theory of gravitation, and more especially in the variational formalism. It has been assumed that the metric tensor depends on two vector fields, defined on a manifold, and also that the gravitational Lagrangian depends on the metric tensor and its first and second differentials (instead on the partial or covariant derivatives, as usually assumed).
Assuming also different operators of variation and differentiation, it has been shown that the first variation of the gravitational Lagrangian can be represented as a third-rank polynomial in respect to the variables, defined in terms of the variated or differentiated vector fields. Therefore, the solution of the variational problem is found to be equivalent to finding all the variables - elements of an algebraic variety, which satisfy the algebraic equation.

The purpose of the paper is to develop further a projection variational approach in relativistic hydrodynamics. The approach, previously proposed in [gr-qc/9908032], is based on the variation of the vector field and the projection tensor (instead of the given metric tensor) and their first partial derivatives. The previously proved property of non-commutativity of the variation and the partial derivative in respect to the projection tensor has been used to find all the variations. Subsequently, motivated by some analogy with the well-known (3+1) ADM projection formalism, an assumption has been made about a zero-covariant derivative of the projection tensor in respect to the projection connection. The combination of the equations for the variations of the projective tensor with covariant and contravariant indices has lead to the derivation of an important and concisely written relation: the derivative of the vector field length is equal to the ''twice'' projected along the vector field initial Christoffell connection. The result is of interest due to the following reasons: 1. It is a more general one and contains in itself a well-known formulae in affine differential geometry for the so called equiaffine connections (admitting covariantly conserved tensor fields), for which the trace of the connection is equal to the gradient of the logarithm of the vector field length. 2. The additional term is the projected (with the projection tensor) initially given connection and accounts for the influence of the reference system on the change of the vector field's length, measured in this system. 3. The formulae has been obtained within the proposed formalism of non-commuting variation and partial derivative.

A model is proposed, according to which the metric tensor field in the standard gravitational Lagrangian is decomposed into a projection (generally - with a non-zero covariant derivative) tensor field, orthogonal to an arbitrary 4-vector field and a tensor part along the same vector field. A theorem has been used, according to which the variation and the partial derivative, when applied to a tensor field, commute with each other if and only if the tensor field and its variation have zero covariant derivatives, provided also the connection variation is zero. Since the projection field obviously does not fulfill the above requirements of the ''commutation'' theorem, the exact expression for the (non-zero) commutator of the variation and the partial derivative, applied to the projection tensor field, can be found from a set of the three defining equations. The above method will be used to construct a modified variational approach in relativistic hydrodynamics, based on variation of the vector field and the projection field, the last one thus accounting for the influence of the reference system of matter (characterized by the 4-vector) on the gravitational field.
