Towards the super Yang-Mills spectrum at large $N_c$
Abstract: We examine one-flavour $SU(N_c)$ gauge theories, where $N_c$ denotes the number of colors, with one fermion in the antisymmetric representation as a candidate to approximate $\mathcal{N}=1$ super Yang Mills due to their equivalence in the large-$N_c$ limit. Summarising results on spectral evaluations of $N_c=3$, we will report on the progress of dynamical calculations for $N_c>3$. We discuss cut-o… ▽ More

Spectrum of QCD with one flavor: A window for supersymmetric dynamics
Abstract: We compute the spectrum of the low-lying mesonic states with vector, scalar and pseudoscalar quantum numbers in QCD with one flavour. With three colours the fundamental and the two-index anti-symmetric representations of the gauge group coincide. The latter is an orientifold theory that maps into the bosonic sector of $\mathcal{N} = 1$ super Yang-Mills theory in the large number of colours limit.… ▽ More

On the definition of schemes for computing leading order isospin breaking corrections
Abstract: We discuss an alternate scheme, or a 'line of constant physics', which can be used when computing isospin breaking corrections to hadronic quantities. We show that within a certain class of schemes one can separate the electromagnetic corrections from the strong isospin breaking corrections at leading order, meaning that within this class scheme-ambiguities are higher order effects.

Abstract: We report our final estimate of the b-quark mass from $N_f=2$ lattice QCD simulations using Heavy Quark Effective Theory non-perturbatively matched to QCD at $O(1/m_h)$. Treating systematic and statistical errors in a conservative manner, we obtain $\overline{m}_{\rm b}^{\overline{\rm MS}}(2 {\rm GeV})=4.88(15)$ GeV after an extrapolation to the physical point.

Review of lattice results concerning low energy particle physics
Abstract: We review lattice results related to pion, kaon, D- and B-meson physics with the aim of making them easily accessible to the particle physics community. More specifically, we report on the determination of the light-quark masses, the form factor f+(0), arising in semileptonic K -> pi transition at zero momentum transfer, as well as the decay constant ratio fK/fpi of decay constants and its consequ… ▽ More

A non-perturbative study of massive gauge theories
Abstract: We consider a non-perturbative formulation of an SU(2) massive gauge theory on a space-time lattice, which is also a discretised gauged non-linear chiral model. The lattice model is shown to have an exactly conserved global SU(2) symmetry. If a scaling region for the lattice model exists and the lightest degrees of freedom are spin one vector particles with the same quantum numbers as the conserve… ▽ More

B-physics with $N_f=2$ Wilson fermions
Abstract: We report the final results of the ALPHA collaboration for some B-physics observables: $f_B$, $f_{B_s}$ and $m_b$. We employ CLS configurations with 2 flavors of $O(a)$ improved Wilson fermions in the sea and pion masses ranging down to 190 MeV. The b-quark is treated in HQET to order $1/m_b$. The renormalization, the matching and the improvement were performed non-perturbatively, and three lattic… ▽ More

$|V_{ub}|$ determination in lattice QCD
Abstract: The 2012 PDG reports a tension at the level of $3 σ$ between two exclusive determinations of $|V_{ub}|$. They are obtained by combining the experimental branching ratios of $B \to τν$ and $B \to πl ν$ (respectively) with a theoretical computation of the hadronic matrix elements $\fB$ and the $B \to π$ form factor $f_+(q^2)$. To understand the tension, improved precision and a careful analysis of t… ▽ More

Improved interpolating fields for hadrons at non-vanishing momentum
Abstract: We demonstrate that a reduction in the noise-to-signal ratio may be obtained for hadrons at non-zero momenta whilst maintaining a good overlap with the ground state through a generalisation of Gaussian/Wuppertal smearing. The use of an anisotropic smearing wavefunction is motivated by the physical picture of a boosted hadron.

Excited state systematics in extracting nucleon electromagnetic form factors
Abstract: We present updated preliminary results for the nucleon electromagnetic form factors for non-perturbatively $\mathcal{O}(a)$ improved Wilson fermions in $N_f=2$ QCD measured on the CLS ensembles. The use of the summed operator insertion method allows us to suppress the influence of excited states in our measurements. A study of the effect that excited state contaminations have on the $Q^2$ dependen… ▽ More

Lattice calculations of the leading hadronic contribution to (g-2)_mu
Abstract: We report on our ongoing project to calculate the leading hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon a_mu^HLO using two dynamical flavours of non-perturbatively O(a) improved Wilson fermions. In this study, we changed the vacuum polarisation tensor to a combination of local and point-split currents which significantly reduces the numerical effort. Partially twisted boundary… ▽ More

B-physics from HQET in two-flavour lattice QCD
Abstract: We present our analysis of B physics quantities using non-perturbatively matched Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) in Nf= 2 lattice QCD on the CLS ensembles. Using all-to-all propagators, HYP-smeared static quarks, and the Generalized Eigenvalue Problem (GEVP) approach with a conservative plateau selection procedure, we are able to systematically control all sources of error. With significantly… ▽ More

Improved interpolating fields for hadrons at non-zero momentum
Abstract: We generalize Gaussian/Wuppertal smearing in order to produce non-spherical wave functions. We show that we can achieve a reduction in the noise-to-signal ratio for correlation functions of certain hadrons at non-zero momentum, while at the same time preserving a good projection on the ground state.

The nucleon axial charge from lattice QCD with controlled errors
Abstract: We report on our calculation of the nucleon axial charge gA in QCD with two flavours of dynamical quarks. A detailed investigation of systematic errors is performed, with a particular focus on contributions from excited states to three-point correlation functions. The use of summed operator insertions allows for a much better control over such contamination. After performing a chiral extrapolation… ▽ More
