The stochastic $φ^4$-theory in $d-$dimensions dynamically develops domain wall structures within which the order parameter is not continuous. We develop a statistical theory for the $φ^4$-theory driven with a random forcing which is white in time and Gaussian-correlated in space. A master equation is derived for the probability density function (PDF) of the order parameter, when the forcing correlation length is much smaller than the system size, but much larger than the typical width of the domain walls. Moreover, exact expressions for the one-point PDF and all the moments $<φ^n>$ are given. We then investigate the intermittency issue in the strong coupling limit, and derive the tail of the PDF of the increments $φ(x_2) - φ(x_1)$. The scaling laws for the structure functions of the increments are obtained through numerical simulations. It is shown that the moments of field increments defined by, $C_b=< |φ(x_2)-φ(x_1)|^b>$, behave as $|x_1-x_2|^{ξ_b}$, where $ξ_b=b$ for $b\leq 1$, and $ξ_b=1$ for $b\geq1$

We present numerical studies of stretching of Hookean dumbbells in a turbulent Navier-Stokes flow with a linear mean profile, <u_x>=Sy. In addition to the turbulence features beyond the viscous Kolmogorov scale η, the dynamics at the equilibrium extension of the dumbbells significantly below eta is well resolved. The variation of the constant shear rate S causes a change of the turbulent velocity fluctuations on all scales and thus of the intensity of local stretching rate of the advecting flow. The latter is measured by the maximum Lyapunov exponent lambda_1 which is found to increase as λ_1 ~ S^{3/2}, in agreement with a dimensional argument. The ensemble of up to 2 times 10^6 passively advected dumbbells is advanced by Brownian dynamics simulations in combination with a pseudospectral integration for the turbulent shear flow. Anisotropy of stretching is quantified by the statistics of the azimuthal angle $φ$ which measures the alignment with the mean flow axis in the x-y shear plane, and the polar angle theta which determines the orientation with respect to the shear plane. The asymmetry of the probability density function (PDF) of phi increases with growing shear rate S. Furthermore, the PDF becomes increasingly peaked around mean flow direction (phi= 0). In contrast, the PDF of the polar angle theta is symmetric and less sensitive to changes of S.

We study the anomalous scaling of the mass density measure of Lagrangian tracers in a compressible flow realized on the free surface on top of a three dimensional flow. The full two dimensional probability distribution of local stretching rates is measured. The intermittency exponents which quantify the fluctuations of the mass measure of tracers at small scales are calculated from the large deviation form of stretching rate fluctuations. The results indicate the existence of a critical exponent $n_c \simeq 0.86$ above which exponents saturate, in agreement with what has been predicted by an analytically solvable model. Direct evaluation of the multi-fractal dimensions by reconstructing the coarse-grained particle density supports the results for low order moments.

High-resolution simulations within the GOY shell model are used to study various scaling relations for turbulence. A power-law relation between the second-order intermittency correction and the crossover from the inertial to the dissipation range is confirmed. Evidence is found for the intermediate viscous dissipation range proposed by Frisch and Vergassola. It is emphasized that insufficient dissipation-range resolution systematically drives the energy spectrum towards statistical-mechanical equipartition. In fully resolved simulations the inertial-range scaling exponents depend on both model parameters; in particular, there is no evidence that the conservation of a helicity-like quantity leads to universal exponents.

Numerical computations of conditional averages of transverse pressure gradient increments are found to be compatible with a recently proposed self-consistent Gaussian model. An analogous low order closure model for the longitudinal pressure gradient is proposed and its validity is numerically examined. In this case numerical evidence for the presence of higher order terms in the closure is found. The fundamental role of conditional statistics between longitudinal and transverse components is highlighted.

The Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation in 1+1 dimension dynamically develops sharply connected valley structures within which the height derivative {\it is not} continuous. There are two different regimes before and after creation of the sharp valleys. We develop a statistical theory for the KPZ equation in 1+1 dimension driven with a random forcing which is white in time and Gaussian correlated in space. A master equation is derived for the joint probability density function of height difference and height gradient $P(h-\bar h,\partial_{x}h,t)$ when the forcing correlation length is much smaller than the system size and much bigger than the typical sharp valley width. In the time scales before the creation of the sharp valleys we find the exact generating function of $h-\bar h$ and $\partial_x h$. Then we express the time scale when the sharp valleys develop, in terms of the forcing characteristics. In the stationary state, when the sharp valleys are fully developed, finite size corrections to the scaling laws of the structure functions $<(h-\bar h)^n (\partial_x h)^m>$ are also obtained.

In the non-universal region we drive a Kramers-Moyal equation governing the evolution of the probability density function (PDF) of longitudinal velocity increments for three dimensional Burgers turbulence. In this region we prove Yakhot's conjecture {[Phys. Rev. E {\bf 57}, 1737 (1998)]} for the equation of PDF for three dimensional Burgers turbulence. We also derive the intermittency exponents for the longitudinal structure functions and show that in the inertial regime one point $U_{rms}$ enters in the PDF of velocity difference.
