Abstract:
We state a conjecture, local Langlands in families, connecting the centre of the category of smooth representations on $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{q}^{-1}]$-modules of a quasi-split $p$-adic group $\mathrm{G}$ (where $q$ is the cardinality of the residue field of the underlying local field), the ring of global functions on the stack of Langlands parameters for $\mathrm{G}$ over $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{q}^{-1}]$,…

We state a conjecture, local Langlands in families, connecting the centre of the category of smooth representations on $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{q}^{-1}]$-modules of a quasi-split $p$-adic group $\mathrm{G}$ (where $q$ is the cardinality of the residue field of the underlying local field), the ring of global functions on the stack of Langlands parameters for $\mathrm{G}$ over $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{q}^{-1}]$, and the endomorphisms of a Gelfand-Graev representation for $\mathrm{G}$. For a class of classical $p$-adic groups (symplectic, unitary, or split odd special orthogonal groups), we prove this conjecture after inverting an integer depending only on $\mathrm{G}$. Along the way, we show that the local Langlands correspondence for classical $p$-adic groups (1) preserves integrality of $\ell$-adic representations; (2) satisfies an "extended" (generic) packet conjecture; (3) is compatible with parabolic induction up to semisimplification (generalizing a result of Moussaoui), hence induces a semisimple local Langlands correspondence; and (4) the semisimple correspondence is compatible with automorphisms of $\mathbb{C}$ fixing $\sqrt{q}$.

We prove that the Hecke algebras of $G(F)$ with coefficients in a ${\mathbb Z}_{\ell}$-algebra $R$ for $\ell$ not equal to $p$ are finitely generated modules over their centers, and that these centers are finitely generated $R$-algebras. Following Bernstein's original strategy, we then deduce that "second adjointness" holds for smooth representations of $G(F)$ with coefficients in any ring $R$ in which $p$ is invertible. These results had been conjectured for a long time. The crucial new tool that unlocks the problem is the Fargues-Scholze morphism between a certain "excursion algebra" defined on the Langlands parameters side and the Bernstein center of $G(F)$. Using this bridge, our main results are representation theoretic counterparts of the finiteness of certain morphisms between coarse moduli spaces of local Langlands parameters that we also prove here, which may be of independent interest

We consider the category of depth $0$ representations of a $p$-adic quasi-split reductive group with coefficients in $\overline{\mathbb{Z}}[\frac{1}{p}]$. We prove that the blocks of this category are in natural bijection with the connected components of the space of tamely ramified Langlands parameters for $G$ over $\overline{\mathbb{Z}}[\frac{1}{p}]$. As a particular case, this depth $0$ category is thus indecomposable when the group is tamely ramified. Along the way we prove a similar result for finite reductive groups. As an application, we deduce that the semi-simple local Langlands correspondence $π\mapsto \varphi_π$ constructed by Fargues and Scholze takes depth $0$ representations to tamely ramified parameters, using a motivic version of their construction recently announced by Scholze. We also bound the restriction of $\varphi_π$ to tame inertia in terms of the Deligne-Lusztig parameter of $π$ and show, in particular, that $\varphi_π$ is unramified if $π$ is unipotent.

We construct a moduli space of Langlands parameters $W_F \to {^LG}$, and show that it is locally of finite type and flat over $\mathbb{Z}[1/p]$, and that it is a reduced local complete intersection. We give parameterizations of the connected components and the irreducible components of the geometric fibers of this space, and parameterizations of the connected components of the total space over $\overline{\mathbb{Z}}[1/p]$ (under mild hypotheses) and over $\overline{\mathbb{Z}}_{\ell}$ for $\ell\neq p$. In each case, we show precisely how each connected component identifies with the "principal" connected component attached to a smaller split reductive group scheme. Finally we study the GIT quotient of this space by $\hat{G}$ and give a complete description of its fibers up to homeomorphism, and a complete description of its ring of functions after inverting an explicit finite set of primes depending only on $^LG$.

The output of these purely representation-theoretic computations is that many of these blocks are equivalent. The motto of this paper is that most of these coincidences are explained, and many more can be predicted, by a functoriality principle involving dual groups. We prove a precise statement for groups related to GL n , and then state conjectural generalizations in two directions : more general reductive groups and/or integral l-adic representations.

This paper is a continuation and a completion of [BoRo1]. We extend the Jordan decomposition of blocks: we show that blocks of finite groups of Lie type in non-describing characteristic are Morita equivalent to blocks of subgroups associated to isolated elements of the dual group. The key new result is the invariance of the part of the cohomology in a given modular series of Deligne-Lusztig varieties associated to a given Levi subgroup, under certain variations of parabolic subgroups. We also show that the equivalence arises from a splendid Rickard equivalence. Even in the setting of [BoRo1], the finer homotopy equivalence was unknown. As a consequence, the equivalence preserves defect groups and categories of subpairs. We finally determine when Deligne-Lusztig induced representations of tori generate the derived category of representations.

For two distinct primes p and l, we investigate the Z_l-cohomology of the Lubin-Tate towers of a p-adic field. We prove that it realizes some version of Langlands and Jacquet-Langlands correspondences for flat families of irreducible supercuspidal representations parametrized by a Z_l-algebra R, in a way compatible with extension of scalars. When R is a field of characteristic l, this gives a cohomological realization of the Langlands-Vigneras correspondence for supercuspidals, and a new proof of its existence. When R runs over complete local algebras, this provides bijections between deformations of matching mod-l representations. Roughly speaking, we can decompose "the supercuspidal part" of the l-integral cohomology as a direct sum, indexed by irreducible supercuspidals πmod l, of tensor products of universal deformations of πand of its two mates.
Besides, we also get a virtual realization of both the semi-simple Langlands-Vigneras correspondence and the l-modular Langlands-Jacquet transfer for all representations, by using the cohomology complex and working in a suitable Grothendieck group.

Let G be a general linear group over a p-adic field and let D^* be an anisotropic inner form of G. The Jacquet-Langlands correspondence between irreducible complex representations of D^* and discrete series of G does not behave well with respect to reduction modulo l\neq p. However we show that the Langlands-Jacquet transfer, from the Grothendieck group of admissible l-adic representations of G to that of D^* is compatible with congruences and reduces modulo l to a similar transfer for l-modular representations, which moreover can be characterized by some Brauer characters identities. Studying more carefully this transfer, we deduce a bijection between irreducible l-modular representations of D^* and "super-Speh" l-modular representations of G. Via reduction mod l, this latter bijection is compatible with the classical Jacquet-Langlands correspondence composed with the Zelevinsky involution. Our arguments rely on Vigneras' classification of representations of G. Finally we discuss the question whether our Langlands-Jacquet transfer sends irreducibles to effective virtual representations up to a sign. This presumably boils down to some unknown properties of parabolic affine Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.

We study basic properties of the category of smooth representations of a p-adic group G with coefficients in any commutative ring R in which p is invertible. Our main purpose is to prove that Hecke algebras are noetherian whenever R is ; a question left open since Bernstein's fundamental work for R=C. In a first step, we prove that this noetherian property would follow from a generalization of the so-called Bernstein's second adjointness property between parabolic functors for complex representations. Then, to attack this second adjointness, we introduce and study "parahoric functors" between representations of groups of integral points of smooth integral models of G and of their "Levi" subgroups. Applying our general study to Bruhat-Tits parahoric models, we get second adjointness for minimal parabolic groups. For non-minimal parabolic subgroups, we have to restrict to classical and linear groups, and use smooth models associated with Bushnell-Kutzko and Stevens semi-simple characters. According to recent announcements by Kim and Yu, the same strategy should also work for "tame groups", using Yu's generic characters.

Harris and Taylor proved that the supercuspidal part of the cohomology of the Lubin-Tate tower realizes both the local Langlands and Jacquet-Langlands correspondences, as conjectured by Carayol. Recently, Boyer computed the remaining part of the cohomology and exhibited two defects : first, the representations of GL\_d which appear are of a very particular and restrictive form ; second, the Langlands correspondence is not realized anymore. In this paper, we study the cohomology complex in a suitable equivariant derived category, and show how it encodes Langlands correspondance for all elliptic representations. Then we transfer this result to the Drinfeld tower via an enhancement of a theorem of Faltings due to Fargues. We deduce that Deligne's weight-monodromy conjecture is true for varieties uniformized by Drinfeld's coverings of his symmetric spaces.

The conjecture stated by Carayol in [{\em Non-abelian Lubin-Tate theory.} Automorphic forms, Shimura varieties and $L$-functions, vol II: 15--39, Academic Press,1990] predicted that the {\em supercuspidal part} of the l-adic cohomology of the moduli spaces classifying certain formal groups introduced by Drinfeld would provide a simultaneaous "realization" of Langlands and Jacquet-Langlands local correspondences for {\em supercuspidal} representations of $GL_d$. By works of Harris, Boyer, Harris-Taylor and Hausberger, this conjecture is now proved. On another hand, recent works by Boyer and Faltings provide a description of all the cohomology spaces and show in particular that these spaces do not retain enough information for Langlands correspondence of non-supercupidal representations. From these works, our main aim is to show how one can still get a simultaneous realization for {\em elliptic} representations of $GL_d$, using the formalism of derived categories. More specifically, we describe the action of the monodromy on the (suitably defined) cohomology complex of the Drinfeld tower and get the lacking information back from this description..
