This work shows the development of a volume-produced negative ion source that consists of annular parallel plates driven by a 13.56 MHz capacitively coupled radio frequency in a push-pull configuration. This source shows advantages in controlling plasma conditions by varying the pressure, power, and applied axial magnetic field. It is found that the push-pull configuration allows the plasma potential to remain in the range of 20 to 40 Volts. Conversely, the application of a magnetic field helps serves to augment the production of negative ions in the central hollow part of the annular plate. Further, a plausible explanation to the obtained experimental results is presented.

The dielectric constant of a sheath, whether ionic or electronic, formed around the cylindrical limbs of a hairpin probe, is often considered the same as that of a vacuum. However, this assumption does not hold true for electron sheaths and electron-permeating ionic sheaths, resulting in a deviation of the sheath dielectric constant from that of a vacuum. This deviation significantly influences the effective dielectric between the cylindrical limbs. As a result, it impacts the theoretically estimated resonance frequency characteristic curve of a DC-biased hairpin probe. In this study, we investigate the influence of electron temperature on the sheath dielectric and, consequently, on the resonance frequency characteristic curve. The findings shows that electron temperature primarily determines the resonance frequency characteristic curve. With increasing electron temperature, the peak in the resonance frequency characteristic curve shifts towards higher positive probe bias values and exhibits a broadening near the maxima instead of a sharp peak. This broadening near the maxima has also been validated with an experimentally measured resonance frequency characteristic curve in a capacitively coupled argon discharge.

In this study, we have investigated the production of negative ions by mixing electronegative oxygen gas with electropositive argon gas in a geometrically asymmetric cylindrical capacitively coupled radio frequency plasma discharge. The plasma parameters such as density (electron, positive and negative ion), negative ion fraction, and electron temperature are investigated for fixed gas pressure and increasing axial magnetic field strength. The axisymmetric magnetic field creates an ExB drift in the azimuthal direction, leading to the confinement of high-energy electrons at the radial edge of the chamber, resulting in decreased species density and negative ion fraction in the plasma bulk. However, the electron temperature increases with the magnetic field. It is concluded that low magnetic fields are better suited for negative ion production in such devices. Furthermore, in addition to the percentage ratio of the two gases, the applied axial magnetic field also plays a vital role in controlling negative ion fraction.

We investigate the discharge characteristics of a low-pressure geometrically asymmetric cylindrical capacitively coupled plasma discharge with an axisymmetric magnetic field generating an EXB drift in the azimuthal direction. Vital discharge parameters, including electron density, electron temperature, DC self-bias, and Electron Energy distribution function (EEDF), are studied experimentally for varying magnetic field strength (B). A transition in the discharge asymmetry is observed along with a range of magnetic fields where the discharge is highly efficient with lower electron temperature. Outside this range of magnetic field, the plasma density drops, followed by an increase in the electron temperature. The observed behavior is attributed to the transition from geometrical asymmetry to magnetic field-associated symmetry due to reduced radial losses and plasma confinement in the peripheral region. In this region, the DC self-bias increases almost linearly from a large negative value to nearly zero, i.e., the discharge becomes symmetric. The EEDF undergoes a transition from bi-Maxwellian for unmagnetized to Maxwellian at intermediate B and finally becomes a weakly bi-Maxwellian at higher values of B. The above transitions present a novel way to independently control the ion energy and ion flux in a cylindrical CCP system using an axisymmetric magnetic field with an enhanced plasma density and lower electron temperature operation that is beneficial for plasma processing applications.

Suggestion mining tasks are often semantically complex and lack sophisticated methodologies that can be applied to real-world data. The presence of suggestions across a large diversity of domains and the absence of large labelled and balanced datasets render this task particularly challenging to deal with. In an attempt to overcome these challenges, we propose a two-tier pipeline that leverages Discourse Marker based oversampling and fine-grained suggestion mining techniques to retrieve suggestions from online forums. Through extensive comparison on a real-world open-domain suggestion dataset, we demonstrate how the oversampling technique combined with transformer based fine-grained analysis can beat the state of the art. Additionally, we perform extensive qualitative and qualitative analysis to give construct validity to our proposed pipeline. Finally, we discuss the practical, computational and reproducibility aspects of the deployment of our pipeline across the web.

Energy Autonomous Wearable Sensors (EAWS) have attracted a large interest due to their potential to provide reliable measurements and continuous bioelectric signals, which help to reduce health risk factors early on, ongoing assessment for disease prevention, and maintaining optimum, lifelong health quality. This review paper presents recent developments and state-of-the-art research related to three critical elements that enable an EAWS. The first element is wearable sensors, which monitor human body physiological signals and activities. Emphasis is given on explaining different types of transduction mechanisms presented, and emerging materials and fabrication techniques. The second element is the flexible and wearable energy storage device to drive low-power electronics and the software needed for automatic detection of unstable physiological parameters. The third is the flexible and stretchable energy harvesting module to recharge batteries for continuous operation of wearable sensors. We conclude by discussing some of the technical challenges in realizing energy-autonomous wearable sensing technologies and possible solutions for overcoming them.

This paper presents a statistical block fading channel model for multiuser massive MIMO system. The proposed channel model is evolved from correlation based stochastic channel model (CBSCM) but in addition to the properties of CBSCM, it has capability of capturing channel variations along time or frequency and along space simultaneously. It has a simplified analytical expression, still being able to simulate underlying physical phenomena which otherwise need a complex geometry based stochastic channel model (GBSCM). The channel model is verified with reported measurement data of channel for massive MIMO. Spatial determinism in channel, the basic cause of unfavorable propagation, is modeled into controlling parameters of channel model. Channel model uses only three controlling parameters; one parameter describes variation in channel along resource block (along time or frequency) and remaining two parameters describe spatial variation in channel. Modeling of simultaneous variation along time and space belongs to a very common scenario where mobility of mobile terminal and angular power distribution at base station receiver, are key parameters. Additionally, simulation results reveal the hidden advantages of spatial determinism in channel for multiuser massive MIMO.
