The calculations of the inelastic spin wave scattering by flexure vibrations of the Bloch domain wall (Winters magnons) in thin magnetic films are presented. The approach is based on the interaction of the propagating spin waves with the dynamical emergent electromagnetic field generated by the moving inhomogeneous magnetization texture (domain wall). The probability of the spin wave scattering for the Winters magnon emission and absorption processes essentially rises with the spin wave scattering angle increase up to 900. The angular dependence of the scattering probability is essentially stronger for the magnon absorption processes that allow distinguishing these elementary emission/absorption processes experimentally.

We present a theoretical investigation of the lateral shift of an infrared light beam reflected from a magnetic film deposited on a non-magnetic dielectric substrate, taking into account the linear magneto-electric interaction in the magnetic film. We use the stationary phase method to evaluate the lateral shift. It is shown that the magneto-electric coupling leads to a six-fold enhancement of the lateral shift amplitude of a p-(s-) polarized incident beam reflected into a s-(p-) polarized beam. A reversal of the magnetization in the film leads to a nonreciprocal sign change of the lateral shift.

The influence of the misfit strain on the lateral shift (Goos-Hanchen effect) experienced by a near-infrared electromagnetic wave upon reflection from the surface of a bilayer consisting of a magnetic, gyrotropic (i.e., whose permittivity tensor elements depend upon magnetization) yttrium-iron garnet film deposited on a nonmagnetic gadolinium-gallium garnet substrate is investigated theoretically. In the geometry of the transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect, it is shown that the mechanical strain near the geometrical film/substrate interface can induce a significant lateral shift of the beam for incidence angles close to normal incidence, where no shift appears in the absence of strain. Our calculations demonstrate positive as well as negative values of the lateral shift, depending on the incident light polarization and on the film thickness. In contrast to that of the misfit strain, the influence of the magnetization of the gyrotropic film on the lateral shift is more noticeable for a TM- than for a TE-polarized wave.

It has been shown that optical anisotropy of YBa2Cu3O7 film, as well as its positions in the three-layer specimen, strongly effects on the lateral shift values. We have shown that, for all positions of the superconducting film in the three-layered structure, variation of temperature makes possible to control the values of the lateral shift of TE-polarized light at the incidence angles close to pseudo-Brewster angles, whereas for TM-polarized light the lateral shift is only significant at grazing incidence.

The bigyrotropic properties of yttrium-iron garnet are taken into account for obtaining the dispersion equation and an original algorithm for the guided modes identification is proposed. We demonstrated the polarization switching of TE- and TM-modes dependent on the geometrical parameters of the guiding layers. The dispersion diagrams and field profiles are used to illustrate the change of propagation properties with variation of the multilayer thickness ratio of the nanocomposite layers. The energy flux distributions across the structure are calculated and the conditions of the optimal guiding regime are obtained. The power switching ratio in the waveguide layers of about 6 dB for the wavelength range of 100 nm is shown to be achieved.

We present a theoretical investigation of the polarization plane rotation at light transmission - Faraday effect, through one-dimensional multilayered magneto-photonic systems consisting of periodically distributed magnetic and dielectric layers. We calculate Faraday rotation spectra of photonic-magnonic crystals, where cell (or supercell) is composed of magnetic layer and dielectric layer (or section of dielectric photonic crystal). We found that the Faraday rotation of p-polarized incident light is increasing in the transmission band with the number of magnetic supercells. The increase of Faraday rotation is observed also in vicinity of the band-gap modes localized in magnetic layers but the maximal polarization plane rotation angles are reached at minimal transmittivity. We show that presence of linear magneto-electric interaction in the magnetic layers leads to significant increase of the Faraday rotation angles of s-polarized incident light in the vicinity of the fine-structured modes inside the photonic-band-gap.

We show that the increase of the number of periods in the photonic-magnonic structure leads to increase of the Goos-Hänchen shift in the vicinity of the frequencies of defect modes located inside the photonic band gaps. Presence of the linear magnetoelectric coupling in the magnetic layers can result in a vanishing of the positive maxima of the cross-polarized contribution to the Goos-Hänchen shift.

Hartman effect for spin waves tunnelling through a barrier in a thin magnetic film is considered theoretically. The barrier is assumed to be created by a locally increased magnetic anisotropy field. The considerations are focused on a nanoscale system operating in the exchange-dominated regime. We derive the formula for group delay $τ_{gr}$ of spin wave package and show that $τ_{gr}$ saturates with increasing barrier width, which is a signature of the Hartman effect predicted earlier for photonic and electronic systems. In our calculations we consider the general boundary exchange conditions which take into account different strength of exchange coupling between the barrier and its surrounding. As a system suitable for experimental observation of the Hartman effect we propose a CoFeB layer with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy induced by a MgO overlayer.

The numerical analysis of such a complex structure shows polarization filtration of TE- and TM-modes depending on geometrical parameters of the waveguide and photonic crystal. We have investigated multifunctional periodic structures in which electromagnetic waves and spin waves can be confined in the same areas. Such simultaneous localization of both sorts of excitations can potentially enhance the interaction between electromagnetic waves and spin waves. The system we considered has a form of one dimensional photonic-magnonic crystal with two types of magnetic layers (thicker and thinner ones) separated by sections of the dielectric photonic crystals. We focused on the electromagnetic defect modes localized in the magnetic layers (areas where spin waves can be exited) and decaying in the sections of conventional (nonmagnetic) photonic crystals. We showed how the change of relative thickness of two types of the magnetic layers can influence on the spectrum of spin waves and electromagnetic defect modes, both localized in magnetic parts of the system.

We study propagation of the Gaussian beam of spin waves and its reflection from the edge of thin yttrium-iron-garnet film with in-plane magnetization perpendicular to this edge. We have performed micromagnetic simulations supported by analytical calculations to investigate influence of the surface magnetic anisotropy present at the film edge on the reflection, especially in the context of the Goos-Hanchen effect. We have shown the appearance of a negative lateral shift between reflected and incident spin wave beams' spots. This shift is particularly sensitive to the surface magnetic anisotropy value and is a result of the Goos-Hanchen shift which is sensitive to the magnitude of the anisotropy and of the bending of spin wave beam. We have demonstrated that the demagnetizing field provide graded increase of the refractive index for spin waves, which is responsible for the bending.
