The Ambrose-Singer Theorem for cohomogeneity one Riemannian manifolds
Abstract: We characterize isometric actions when the principal orbits are hypersurfaces by the existence of a linear connection satisfying a set of covariant equations. We use this results to characterize isomorphic cohomogeneity one foliations in terms of these connections and give explicit examples of these objects in the Euclidean space and the real hyperbolic space.

Codimension two polar homogeneous foliations on symmetric spaces of noncompact type
Abstract: We classify homogeneous polar foliations of codimension two on irreducible symmetric spaces of noncompact type up to orbit equivalence. Any such foliation is either hyperpolar or the canonical extension of a polar homogeneous foliation on a rank one symmetric space.

Cohomogeneity one actions on symmetric spaces of noncompact type and higher rank
Abstract: We develop a new structural result for cohomogeneity one actions on (not necessarily irreducible) symmetric spaces of noncompact type and arbitrary rank. We apply this result to classify cohomogeneity one actions on SL(n,R)/SO(n), n>1, up to orbit equivalence. We also reduce the classification problem on a reducible space to the classification on each one of its irreducible factors, which in parti… ▽ More

Homogeneous Lagrangian foliations on complex space forms
Abstract: We classify holomorphic isometric actions on complex space forms all whose orbits are Lagrangian submanifolds, up to orbit equivalence. The only examples are Lagrangian affine subspace foliations of complex Euclidean spaces, and Lagrangian horocycle foliations of complex hyperbolic spaces.

Homogeneous and inhomogeneous isoparametric hypersurfaces in rank one symmetric spaces
Abstract: We conclude the classification of cohomogeneity one actions on symmetric spaces of rank one by classifying cohomogeneity one actions on quaternionic hyperbolic spaces up to orbit equivalence. As a by-product of our proof, we produce uncountably many examples of inhomogeneous isoparametric families of hypersurfaces with constant principal curvatures in quaternionic hyperbolic spaces.

On homogeneous manifolds whose isotropy actions are polar
Abstract: We show that simply connected Riemannian homogeneous spaces of compact semisimple Lie groups with polar isotropy actions are symmetric, generalizing results of Fabio Podesta and the third named author. Without assuming compactness, we give a classification of Riemannian homogeneous spaces of semisimple Lie groups whose linear isotropy representations are polar. We show for various such spaces that… ▽ More

We also give some new examples of nonproper cohomogeneity one actions on $AdS^{n+1}$ and determine parabolic Lie subgroups of $SO(2,n)$ and their orbits in $AdS^{n+1}$

Real hypersurfaces with two principal curvatures in complex projective and hyperbolic planes
Abstract: We find the first examples of real hypersurfaces with two nonconstant principal curvatures in complex projective and hyperbolic planes, and we classify them. It turns out that each such hypersurface is foliated by equidistant Lagrangian flat surfaces with parallel mean curvature or, equivalently, by principal orbits of a cohomogeneity two polar action.

Polar actions with a fixed point
Abstract: We prove a criterion for an isometric action of a Lie group on a Riemannian manifold to be polar.
