DSeg: Direct Line Segments Detection

This paper presents a model-driven approach to detect image line segments. The approach incrementally detects segments on the gradient image using a linear Kalman filter that estimates the supporting line parameters and their associated variances. This paper presents a model-driven approach to detect image line segments. The approach incrementally detects segments on the gradient image using a linear Kalman filter that estimates the supporting line parameters and their associated variances. The algorithm is fast and robust with respect to image noise and illumination variations, it allows the detection of longer line segments than data-driven approaches, and does not require any tedious parameters tuning. An extension of the algorithm that exploits a pyramidal approach to enhance the quality of results is proposed. Results with varying scene illumination and comparisons to classic existing approaches are presented.

The developpment of the Internet of Things (IoT) concept revives Responsive Environments (RE) technologies. Nowadays, the idea of a permanent connection between physical and digital world is technologically possible. The capillar Internet relates to the Internet extension into daily appliances such as they become actors of Internet like any hu-man. The parallel development of Machine-to-Machine communications and Arti cial Intelligence (AI) technics start a new area of cybernetic. This paper presents an approach for Cybernetic Organism (Cyborg) for RE based on Organic Computing (OC). In such approach, each appli-ance is a part of an autonomic system in order to control a physical environment. The underlying idea is that such systems must have self-x properties in order to adapt their behavior to external disturbances with a high-degree of autonomy.

Abstract:
We present a mathematical method for identifying, separating and quantifying the 3D significant distortions. Measurement of a gas quenched C-ring type sample is performed by a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Quenching simulation is done with the commercial software Forge 2008 TTT. After comparisons, we notice that the distortions and their tendencies are the same but not exactly the amplitud…

We present a mathematical method for identifying, separating and quantifying the 3D significant distortions. Measurement of a gas quenched C-ring type sample is performed by a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Quenching simulation is done with the commercial software Forge 2008 TTT. After comparisons, we notice that the distortions and their tendencies are the same but not exactly the amplitudes. We only focus on distortions which have a physical origin, like the pincers opening, often observed in the literature. As a first explanation, we underline the role of phase transformations and volume dilatation of the steel during quenching.

Ultra-high energy cosmic rays from super-heavy X particle decay
Authors:
Barbot Cyrille
Abstract:
In this talk, I present the last and more precise results obtained in the computation of the final spectra of stable particles issued from the decay of super-heavy X particles (M_X ~ 10^21 to 10^25 eV). Such very energetic decay products, carrying a fraction of the mass of the X particle, are believed to be a plausible explanation for the observed ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECR). Combining…

Combining these results with X-particle models and with a code describing the propagation effects for UHECRs through the interstellar medium, it becomes possible to make some predictions on the fluxes expected on Earth, hopefully detectable in the next generation of experiments.
