Approximate knowledge of the renormalon structure of Bjorken polarised sum rule (BSR) ${\overline Γ}_1^{\rm p-n}(Q^2)$ leads to the corresponding BSR characteristic function that allows us to evaluate the leading-twist part of BSR. In our previous work \cite{pPLB}, this evaluation (resummation) was performed using perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling $a(Q^2) \equiv α_s(Q^2)/π$ in specific renormalisation schemes. In the present paper, we continue this work, by using instead holomorphic couplings [$a(Q^2) \mapsto {\mathcal A}(Q^2)$] that have no Landau singularities and thus require, in contrast to the pQCD case, no regularisation of the resummation formula. The $D=2$ and $D=4$ terms are included in the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) of inelastic BSR, and fits are performed to the available experimental data in a specific interval $(Q^2_{\rm min},Q^2_{\rm max})$ where $ Q^2_{\rm max}=4.74 \ {\rm GeV}^2$. We needed relatively high $Q^2_{\rm min} \approx 1.7 \ {\rm GeV}^2$ in the pQCD case since the pQCD coupling $a(Q^2)$ has Landau singularities at $Q^2 \lesssim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$. Now, when holomorphic (AQCD) couplings ${\mathcal A}(Q^2)$ are used, no such problems occur: for the $3 δ$AQCD and $2 δ$AQCD variants the preferred values are $Q^2_{\rm min} \approx 0.6 \ {\rm GeV}^2$. The preferred values of $α_s$ in general cannot be unambiguously extracted, due to large uncertainties of the experimental BSR data, although the fit with $2 δ$AQCD and the $D=2$ term included suggests $α_s^{\overline {\rm MS}}(M_Z^2) \approx 0.1181$. At a fixed value of $α_s^{\overline {\rm MS}}(M_Z^2)$, the values of the $D=2$ and $D=4$ residue parameters are determined in all cases, with the corresponding uncertainties.

These neutrinos can be either Dirac or Majorana, and are considered to be almost degenerate in mass. The decays can thus be either lepton number conserving (LNC), $τ^{\mp} \to π^{\mp} N_j \to π^{\mp} μ^{\mp} π^{\pm}$, or lepton number violating (LNV), $τ^{\mp} \to π^{\mp} N_j \to π^{\mp} μ^{\pm} π^{\mp}$. If neutrinos are Dirac, only LNC decays are possible. If they are Majorana, both LNC and LNV are possible. We derive the corresponding expressions for the effective decay widths $Γ_{{\rm eff},\mp}^{\rm (X)}$ (X=LNC, LNV) of these rare decays, where we account for $N_1$-$N_2$ overlap and oscillation effects and for the finite detector length effects. We then numerically evaluate these decay widths as well as the related CP violation asymmetry width $ΔΓ_{\rm CP}^{\rm (X)} = (Γ_{{\rm eff},-}^{\rm (X)} - Γ_{{\rm eff},+}^{\rm (X)})$. We conclude that for certain, presently allowed, ranges of the heavy-light neutrino mixing parameters, such decays and asymmetries could be observed in Belle II experiment.

We use the known renormalon structure of Bjorken polarised sum rule (BSR) ${\overline Γ}_1^{p-n}(Q^2)$ to evaluate the leading-twist part of that quantity. In addition, we include $D=2$ and $D=4$ Operator Product Expansion (OPE) terms and fit this expression to available experimental data for inelastic BSR. Since we use perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling, which fails at low squared spacelike momenta $Q^2 \lesssim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$ due to Landau singularities, the fit is performed for $Q^2 \geq Q^2_{\rm min}$ where $Q^2_{\rm min} \approx (1.7 \pm 0.3) \ {\rm GeV}^2$. Due to large BSR experimental uncertainties, the extracted value of the pQCD coupling has very large uncertainties, especially when $Q^2_{\rm min}$ is varied. However, when we fix the pQCD coupling to the known world average values, the $D=2$ and $D=4$ residue parameters can be determined within large but reasonable uncertainties.

We perform numerical analysis of double-pinched Borel-Laplace QCD sum rules for the strangeless semihadronic $τ$-decay data. The $D=0$ contribution to the theoretical contour integral in the sum rules is evaluated by the (truncated) Fixed Order perturbation theory method (FO) and by the Principal Value (PV) of the Borel integration. We use for the full Adler function the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) with the terms $\sim \langle O_D \rangle$ of dimension $D=2 n$ where $2 \leq n \leq 5$ for the (V+A)-channel, and $2 \leq n \leq 7$ for the V-channel data. In our previous works [1,2], only the (V+A)-channel data was analysed. In this work, the analysis of a new set of V-channel data is performed as well. Further, a renormalon-motivated construction of the $D=0$ part of the Adler function is improved in the $u=3$ infrared renormalon sector, by involving the recently known information on the two principal noninteger values $k^{(j)}=γ^{(1)}(O_6^{(j)})/β_0$ of the effective leading-order anomalous dimensions. Additionally, the OPE of the Adler function has now the D=6 contribution with the principal anomalous dimension ($\sim α_s^{k^{(1)}}$), and terms of higher dimension (with zero anomalous dimension). Cross-checks of the obtained extracted values of $α_s$ and of the condensates were performed by reproduction of the (central) experimental values of several double-pinched momenta $a^{(2,n)}$. The averaged final extracted values of the (MSbar) coupling are: $α_s(m_τ^2) = 0.3169^{+0.0070}_{-0.0096}$, corresponding to $α_s(M_Z^2)=0.1183^{+0.0009}_{-0.0012}$.

Two variants of the fixed order perturbation theory, and the inverse Borel transform, are applied to the evaluation of the $D=0$ contribution. We use improved truncated Operator Product Expansion (OPE) for the Adler function, involving two types of terms with dimension $D=6$, in the double-pinched Borel-Laplace Sum Rules and Finite Energy Sum Rules for the V+A channel strangeless semihadronic $τ$ decays. The generation of the higher order perturbative QCD terms of the $D=0$ part of the Adler function is carried out using a renormalon-motivated ansatz incorporating the leading UV renormalon and the first two leading IR renormalons. The trunacted $D=0$ part of the Sum Rules is evaluated by two variants of the fixed-order perturbation theory (FO), by Principal Value of the Borel resummation (PV), and by contour-improved perturbation theory (CI). For the experimental V+A channel spectral function we use the ALEPH $τ$-decay data. We point out that the truncated FO and PV evaluation methods account correctly for the renormalon structure of the Sum Rules, while this is not the case for the truncated CI evaluation. We extract the value of the ${\overline {\rm MS}}$ coupling $α_s(m_τ^2) = 0.3235^{+0.0138}_{-0.0126}$ [$α_s(M_Z^2)=0.1191 \pm 0.0016$] for the average of the two FO methods and the PV method, which we consider as our main result. If we included in the average also CI extraction, the value would be $α_s(m_τ^2) = 0.3299^{+0.0232}_{-0.0225}$ [$α_s(M_Z^2)=0.1199^{+0.0026}_{-0.0028}$]. This work is an extension and improvement of our previous work [Eur.Phys.J.C81 (2021) 10, 930] where we used for the truncated OPE a more naive (and widely used) form and where the extracted values for $α_s(M_Z^2)$ were somewhat lower.

We present a determination of the perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling using the V+A channel ALEPH $τ$-decay data. The determination involves the double-pinched Borel-Laplace Sum Rules and Finite Energy Sum Rules. The theoretical basis is the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) of the V+A channel Adler function in which the higher order terms of the leading-twist part originate from a model based on the known structure of the leading renormalons of this quantity. The applied evaluation methods are contour-improved perturbation theory (CIPT), fixed-order perturbation theory (FOPT), and Principal Value of the Borel resummation (PV). All the methods involve truncations in the order of the coupling. In contrast to the truncated CIPT method, the truncated FOPT and PV methods account correctly for the suppression of various renormalon contributions of the Adler function in the mentioned sum rules. The extracted value of the ${\overline {\rm MS}}$ coupling is $α_s(m_τ^2) = 0.3116 \pm 0.0073$ [$α_s(M_Z^2)=0.1176 \pm 0.0010$] for the average of the FOPT and PV methods, which we regard as our main result. On the other hand, if we include in the average also the CIPT method, the resulting values are significantly higher, $α_s(m_τ^2) = 0.3194 \pm 0.0167$ [$α_s(M_Z^2)=0.1186 \pm 0.0021$].

We present an updated version of a QCD coupling which fulfills various physically motivated conditions: at high momenta it practically coincides with the perturbative QCD (pQCD) coupling; at intermediate momenta it reproduces correctly the physics of the semihadronic tau decay; and at very low momenta it is suppressed as suggested by large-volume lattice calculations. An earlier presented analysis is updated here in the sense that the Adler function, in the regime $|Q^2| \lesssim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$, is evaluated by a renormalon-motivated resummation method. This Adler function is then used here in the evaluation of the quantities related with the semihadronic (strangeless) $τ$-decay spectral functions, including Borel-Laplace sum rules in the (V+A)-channel. The analysis is then extended to the evaluation of the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment, $a_μ^{\rm had(1)}$, where we include in the Adler function the V-channel higher-twist OPE terms which are regulated in the infrared (IR) by mass parameters which are expected to be $\lesssim 1$ GeV. The correct value of $a_μ^{\rm had(1)}$ can be reproduced with the mentioned IR-regulating mass parameters if the value of the condensate $\langle O_4 \rangle_{\rm V+A}$ is positive (and thus the gluon condensate value is positive). This restriction and the requirement of the acceptable quality of the fits to the various mentioned sum rules then lead us to the restriction $0.1171 < α_s(M_Z^2;{\overline{MS}}) < 0.1180$.

We investigate a large class of perturbative QCD (pQCD) renormalization schemes whose beta functions $β(a)$ are meromorphic functions of the running coupling and give finite positive value of the coupling $a(Q^2)$ in the infrared regime ("freezing"), $a(Q^2) \to a_0$ for $Q^2 \to 0$. Such couplings automatically have no singularities on the positive axis of the squared momenta $Q^2$ ($ \equiv -q^2$). Explicit integration of the renormalization group equation (RGE) leads to the implicit (inverted) solution for the coupling, of the form $\ln (Q^2/Q^2_{\rm in}) = {\cal H}(a)$. An analysis of this solution leads us to an algebraic algorithm for the search of the Landau singularities of $a(Q^2)$ on the first Riemann sheet of the complex $Q^2$-plane, i.e., poles and branching points (with cuts) outside the negative semiaxis. We present specific representative examples of the use of such algorithm, and compare the found Landau singularities with those seen after the 2-dimensional numerical integration of the RGE in the entire first Riemann sheet, where the latter approach is numerically demanding and may not always be precise. The specific examples suggest that the presented algebraic approach is useful to find out whether the running pQCD coupling has Landau singularities and, if yes, where precisely these singularities are.

A variant of QCD with the coupling suppressed in the infrared (IR) regime, as suggested by large-volume lattice calculations of the Landau-gauge gluon and ghost dressing functions, is considered. The coupling is further restricted by the condition of approximate coincidence with perturbative QCD in the high momentum regime, and by the $τ$-lepton semihadronic decay rate in the intermediate momentum regime, the rate which is evaluated by a renormalon-motivated resummation method. The obtained coupling turns out to be free of Landau singularities. The $D=4,6$ condensate values of the Adler function are then extracted by application of the Borel sum rules to the OPAL and ALEPH (V+A)-channel data of $τ$-decay, and the corresponding V-channel condensate values are deduced as well. We then show that the correct value of the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment, $a_μ^{\rm had(1)}$, is reproduced by regularizing the $D=4,6$ OPE terms in the V-channel Adler function with IR-regularization masses ${\cal M}_{D/2} \lesssim 1 \ {\rm GeV}$, suggesting the internal consistency of the presented QCD framework.

We evaluate QCD effects in the neutrinoless double beta ($0νββ$) decay, originating from new physics short-range mechanism in the form of five dimension-9 operators. For this, we employ the one-loop and two-loop renormalization group equations (RGEs) for the corresponding Wilson coefficients, performing the RGE-evolution from the new physics scales (estimated as $Λ~ \sim 10^2$ GeV) to the typical spacelike $0νββ$-scale $Q \sim 0.1$ GeV. Since the latter scale is clearly nonperturbative, we apply various infrared-safe (IR-safe) variants of QCD where the running coupling has no Landau singularities at low spacelike $Q$. We point out that the correct treatment of the IR-safe analogs of the (noninteger) powers of the couplings is important. It turns out that in most cases of the considered operators the resulting QCD effects can be significant in this process, i.e., can be stronger than the effects of the present uncertainties in the nuclear matrix elements.

In this article we study the LNV decay of the W boson via two almost degenerate heavy on-shell Majorana neutrinos $N_j$, into three charged leptons and a light neutrino. We consider the scenario where the heavy neutrino masses are within $1$ GeV $\leq M_N \leq 10$ GeV. We evaluated the possibility to measure a LNV oscillation process in such a scenario, namely, the modulation of the quantity $d Γ/d L$ for the process at the LHC where $W^{\pm} \to μ^{\pm} N \to μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} W^{\mp *}$ $ \to μ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} e^{\mp} ν_e$. $L$ is the distance within the detector between the two vertices of the process. We found out some realistic conditions under which such a modulation could be probed at the LHC.

In addition, we consider the analogous decays with opposite sign muons or taus. All these decays are considered to be mediated by a heavy on-shell neutrino $N$. Such decays of $B$ mesons, if not detected, will give in general stringent upper bounds on the heavy-light mixing parameter $|U_{μN}|^2$ as a function of the neutrino mass $M_N \sim 1$ GeV, principally due to the large expected number of produced mesons $B$. While some of the decays of the other mentioned mesons are attractive due to a weaker CKM-suppression, the expected produced number of such mesons is significantly smaller that that of $B$'s; therefore, the sensitivity bounds from such decays are in general comparable or less restrictive. When $τ$ pairs are produced, only two types of such decays are significant: $B^{\pm}, B_{c}^{\pm} \to τ^{\pm} τ^{\pm} π^{\mp}$ (and $τ^{\pm} τ^{\mp} π^{\pm}$), giving us stringent upper bounds on $|U_{τN}|^2$; the other decays with a pair of $τ$, such as $B^0 \to D^{(*)-} τ^+ τ^+ π^-$ (and $D^{(*)-} τ^+ τ^- π^+$), are prohibited or very suppressed by kinematics.

A method of evaluation of spacelike QCD observables ${\cal D}(Q^2)$ is developed, motivated by the renormalon structure of these quantities. A related auxiliary quantity ${\widetilde {\cal D}}(Q^2)$ is introduced, which is renomalization scale independent only at the one-loop level, and a large-$β_0$-type renormalon motivated ansatz is made for the Borel transform of this quantity. This leads to a `dressed' Borel transform of the considered observable ${\cal D}(Q^2)$. From there, a Neubert-type distribution is obtained for the observable. The described method is then applied to the massless Adler function and the related decay ratio of the $τ$ lepton semihadronic decays. Comparisons are then made with an evaluation method at higher truncated orders, developed in our earlier works, which is a renormalization scale invariant extension of the diagonal Padé approximants.

Experimental data obtained for the polarized Bjorken sum rule (BSR) $Γ_1^{p-n}(Q^2)$ are fitted by using predictions derived within a truncated operator product expansion (OPE) approach to QCD. Four QCD versions are considered: perturbative QCD (pQCD) in the MSbar scheme, Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT), and 2$δ$ and 3$δ$ analytic QCD versions. In contrast to pQCD, these QCD variants do not have Landau singularities at low positive $Q^2$, which facilitates the fitting procedure significantly. The fitting procedure is applied first to the experimental data of the inelastic part of BSR, and the known elastic contributions are added after the fitting. In general, when 2$δ$ and 3$δ$ QCD coupling is used the fitted curves give the best results, within the $Q^2$-range of the fit as well as in extended $Q^2$-intervals. When the fitting procedure is applied to the total BSR, i.e., to the sum of the experimental data and the elastic contribution, the quality of the results deteriorates significantly.

We focus on a scenario that contains at least two heavy Majorana neutrinos in the mass range 2-80 GeV. The results indicate that the modulation of the branching ratios as a function of the distance between the vertices may be detected in a future experiment such as High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider. The product of the gluon dressing function and the square of the ghost dressing function in the Landau gauge can be regarded to represent, apart from the inverse power corrections $1/Q^{2 n}$, a nonperturbative generalization $A(Q^2)$ of the perturbative QCD running coupling $a(Q^2)$ ($\equiv α_s(Q^2)/π$). Recent large volume lattice calculations for these dressing functions strongly indicate that such a generalized coupling goes to zero as $A(Q^2) \sim Q^2$ when the squared momenta $Q^2$ go to zero ($Q^2 \ll 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$). We construct such a QCD coupling $A(Q^2)$ which fulfills also various other physically motivated conditions. At high momenta it becomes the underlying perturbative coupling $a(Q^2)$ to a very high precision. And at intermediately low momenta $Q^2 \sim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$ it gives results consistent with the data of the semihadronic $τ$ lepton decays as measured by OPAL and ALEPH. The coupling is constructed in a dispersive way, ensuring as a byproduct the holomorphic behavior of $A(Q^2)$ in the complex $Q^2$-plane which reflects the holomorphic behavior of the spacelike QCD observables. Application of the Borel sum rules to $τ$-decay V + A spectral functions allows us to obtain values for the gluon (dimension-4) condensate and the dimension-6 condensate, which reproduce the measured OPAL and ALEPH data to a significantly better precision than the perturbative MSbar coupling (+OPE) approach. The comparison with the experimental V-channel Adler function, related with the $e^+ e^- \to$ hadrons ratio, at low $Q^2 \sim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$, also gives results considerably better than with the usual MSbar pQCD+OPE approach.

The focus of this chapter lies on the possible experimental tests of leptogenesis scenarios. We consider both leptogenesis generated from oscillations, as well as leptogenesis from out-of-equilibrium decays. As the Akhmedov-Rubakov-Smirnov (ARS) mechanism allows for heavy neutrinos in the GeV range, this opens up a plethora of possible experimental tests, e.g. at neutrino oscillation experiments, neutrinoless double beta decay, and direct searches for neutral heavy leptons at future facilities. In contrast, testing leptogenesis from out-of-equilibrium decays is a quite difficult task. We comment on the necessary conditions for having successful leptogenesis at the TeV-scale. We further discuss possible realizations and their model specific testability in extended seesaw models, models with extended gauge sectors, and supersymmetric leptogenesis. Not being able to test high-scale leptogenesis directly, we present a way to falsify such scenarios by focusing on their washout processes. This is discussed specifically for the left-right symmetric model and the observation of a heavy $W_R$, as well as model independently when measuring $ΔL = 2$ washout processes at the LHC or neutrinoless double beta decay.

We investigate the Bjorken polarized sum rule (BSR) in three approaches to QCD with analytic (holomorphic) coupling: Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT), Two-delta analytic QCD (2$δ$anQCD), and Three-delta lattice-motivated analytic QCD in the three-loop and four-loop MOM scheme (3l3$δ$anQCD, 4l3$δ$anQCD). These couplings do not have unphysical (Landau) singularities, and have finite values when the transferred momentum goes to zero, which allows us to explore the infrared regime. With the exception of APT, these theories at high momenta practically coincide with the underlying perturbative QCD (pQCD) in the same scheme. We apply them in order to verify the Bjorken sum rule within the range of energies available in the data collected by the experimental JLAB collaboration, i.e., $0.05 GeV^2 <Q^2< 3 GeV^2$ and compare the results with those obtained by using the perturbative QCD coupling. The results of the new frameworks with respective couplings (2$δ$ and 3$δ$) are in good agreement with the experimental data for $0.5 GeV^2<Q^2<3 GeV^2$ already when only one higher-twist term is used. In the low-$Q^2$ regime ($Q^2 \lesssim 1 GeV^2$) we use $χ$PT-motivated expression or an expression motivated by the light-front holography (LFH) QCD used earlier in the literature.

The projected total number of produced $B$ mesons is $4.8 \times 10^{12}$ at LHCb upgrade and $5 \times 10^{10}$ at Belle-II. For the case that the above decays are not detected, we deduce the new upper bounds (sensitivity limits) for the mixing parameter $|U_{μN}|^2$ of heavy sterile neutrino with sub-eV light neutrino, as a function of the sterile neutrino mass in the interval $1.75 \ {\rm GeV} < M_N < 5.0 \ {\rm GeV}$. We take into account the probability of decay of the sterile neutrino $N$ within the detector, taking as the effective detector length $L=2.3 \ m$ at LCHb upgrade and $L=1 \ m$ at Belle-II. In the interval $1.75 \ {\rm GeV} < M_N < 3 \ {\rm GeV}$, the most stringent bounds can be obtained with the decays $B \to μ^{\pm} μ^{\pm} π^{\mp}$ at LHCb upgrade. The sensitivity limits are expected to be in general more stringent at LHCb upgrade than at Belle-II, principally because the number of produced $B$ mesons in LHCb upgrade is expected to be by about two orders of magnitude larger than at Belle-II. We conclude that the LHCb upgrade and Belle-II experiments have the potential to either find a new heavy Majorana neutrino $N$, or to improve significantly the sensitivity limits (upper bounds) on the heavy-light mixing parameter $|U_{μN}|^2$, particularly in the mass range $1.75 \ {\rm GeV} < M_N < 3 \ {\rm GeV}$. This work is a continuation and refinement of our previous work [1] on the subject.

We consider a simple model for QCD dynamics in which DGLAP integro-differential equation may be solved analytically. This is a gauge model which possesses dominant evolution of gauge boson (gluon) distribution and in which the gauge coupling does not run. This may be ${\cal N} =4$ supersymmetric gauge theory with softly broken supersymmetry, other finite supersymmetric gauge theory with lower level of supersymmetry, or topological Chern-Simons field theories. We maintain only one term in the splitting function of unintegrated gluon distribution and solve DGLAP analytically for this simplified splitting function. The solution is found by use of the Cauchy integral formula. The solution restricts form of the unintegrated gluon distribution as function of momentum transfer and of Bjorken $x$. Then we consider an almost realistic splitting function of unintegrated gluon distribution as an input to DGLAP equation and solve it by the same method which we have developed to solve DGLAP equation for the toy-model. We study a result obtained for the realistic gluon distribution and find a singular Bessel-like behaviour in the vicinity of the point $x=0$ and a smooth behaviour in the vicinity of the point

Newer lattice results indicate that, in the Landau gauge at low spacelike momenta, the gluon propagator and the ghost dressing function are finite nonzero. This leads to a definition of the QCD running coupling, in a specific scheme, that goes to zero at low spacelike momenta. We construct a running coupling which fulfills these conditions, and at the same time reproduces to a high precision the perturbative behavior at high momenta. The coupling is constructed in such a way that it reflects qualitatively correctly the holomorphic (analytic) behavior of spacelike observables in the complex plane of the squared momenta, as dictated by the general principles of Quantum Field Theories. Further, we require the coupling to reproduce correctly the nonstrange semihadronic decay rate of tau lepton which is the best measured low-momentum QCD observable with small higher-twist effects. Subsequent application of the Borel sum rules to the V+A spectral functions of tau lepton decays, as measured by OPAL Collaboration, determines the values of the gluon condensate and of the V+A 6-dimensional condensate, and reproduces the data to a significantly higher precision than the usual MSbar running coupling.

Here, $\ell_1 \not= \ell_2$ in order to avoid serious QED background. We account for the possible effects of the strong neutrino lifetime on the observability of the rare decays. If no charmed mesons ($D^{(*)}$) are produced at the first vertex of the sterile neutrino, a strong CKM-suppression becomes effective; this is not true if we consider instead the decays of $B_c$ mesons which can be produced copiously in LHC-b. The production of charmed mesons $D^{(*)}$ at the first vertex offers an attractive possibility because it avoids strong CKM-suppression. Such rare decays of $B$ mesons could be detected at Belle II experiment, with $N$ neutrino either decaying within the detector or manifesting itself as a massive missing momentum.

We update our perturbative determination of MSbar bottom quark mass mb(mb), by including the recently obtained four-loop coefficient in the relation between the pole and MSbar mass. First the renormalon subtracted (RS or RS') mass is determined from the known mass of the Upsilon(1S) meson, where we use the renormalon residue Nm obtained from the asymptotic behavior of the coefficient of the 3-loop static singlet potential. MSbar mass is then obtained using the 4-loop renormalon-free relation between the RS (RS') and MSbar mass. We argue that the effects of the charm quark mass are accounted for by effectively using Nf=3 in the mass relations. The extracted value is mb(mb) = 4222(40) MeV, where the uncertainty is dominated by the renormalization scale dependence.

It is a two-fold series in terms of powers of the conformal anomaly and of $SU(N_c)$ coupling $α_s$. Explicit expressions are obtained for the $\{β\}$-expanded perturbation coefficients at $O(α_s^4)$ level in $\bar{\rm MS}$ scheme, for both considered physical quqantities. Comparisons of the terms in the $\{β\}$-expanded coefficients are made with the corresponding terms obtained by using extra gluino degrees of freedom, or skeleton-motivated expansion, or $R_δ$-scheme motivated expansion in the Principle of Maximal Conformality. Relations between terms of the $\{β\}$-expansion for the $D^{ns}$- and $C_{ns}^{Bjp}$-functions, which follow from the conformal symmetry limit and its violation, are presnted. The relevance to the possible new analysis of the experimental data for the Adler function and Bjorken sum rule is discussed.

We derive the decay widths for the leptonic decays of heavy charged pseudoscalars to massive sterile neutrinos, $M^{\pm} \to \ell^{\pm} + N$, within the frameworks involving the Standard Model and two-Higgs doublets (type II). We then apply the result to $B^\pm \to τ^\pm +$ "missing momentum" of the Belle/BaBar experimental results, in order to measure directly the relevant parameter space, including the mixing parameter $U_{τN}$.

It had been explained in the literature that such decays may be eventually detected, and that they can present even detectable CP violation effects. In this work we point out that, in addition, such decays may present detectable effects of heavy neutrino oscillation, allowing us to extract the oscillation length and thus the heavy neutrino mass difference $ΔM_N$, as well as a CP-violating Majorana phase.

In this article we describe neutrino-mediated decays of charged pseudoscalar mesons such as $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$ and $B^{\pm}$, in scenarios where extra neutrinos are heavy and can be on their mass shell. We discuss semileptonic and leptonic decays of such kinds. We investigate possible ways of using these decays in order to distinguish between the Dirac and Majorana character of neutrinos. Further, we argue that there are significant possibilities of detecting CP violation in such decays when there are at least two almost degenerate Majorana neutrinos involved. This latter type of scenario fits well into the known neutrino minimal standard model ($ν$MSM) which could simultaneously explain the Dark Matter and Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe.

They are thus more suited for evaluations of such physical quantities, especially at low momenta $|Q^2| \sim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$.

Perturbative QCD in mass independent schemes leads in general to running coupling $a(Q^2)$ which is nonanalytic (nonholomorphic) in the regime of low spacelike momenta $|Q^2| \lesssim 1 \ {\rm GeV}^2$. Such (Landau) singularities are inconvenient in the following sense: evaluations of spacelike physical quantities ${\cal D}(Q^2)$ with such a running coupling $a(κQ^2)$ ($κ\sim 1$) give us expressions with the same kind of singularities, while the general principles of local quantum field theory require that the mentioned physical quantities have no such singularities. In a previous work, certain classes of perturbative mass independent beta functions were found such that the resulting coupling was holomorphic. However, the resulting perturbation series showed explosive increase of coefficients already at ${\rm N}^4{\rm LO}$ order, as a consequence of the requirement that the theory reproduce the correct value of the $τ$ lepton semihadronic strangeless decay ratio $r_τ$. In this work we successfully extend the construction to specific classes of perturbative beta functions such that the perturbation series do not show explosive increase of coefficients, the perturbative coupling is holomorphic, and the correct value of $r_τ$ is reproduced. In addition, we extract, with Borel sum rule analysis of the V+A channel of the semihadronic strangeless decays of $τ$ lepton, reasonable values of the corresponding D=4 and D=6 condensates.

It turns out that the CP-violating difference $S_{-}(M) \equiv [Γ(M^- \to \ell_1^- \ell_2^- M^{' +})-Γ(M^+ \to \ell_1^+ \ell_2^+ M^{' -})]$ can become appreciable when two intermediate on-shell Majorana neutrinos $N_j$ ($j=1,2$) participate in these decays. Our calculations show that the asymmetry becomes largest when the masses of $N_1$ and $N_2$ are almost degenerate, i.e., when the mass difference $ΔM_N$ becomes comparable with the (small) decay widths $Γ_N$ of these neutrinos: $ΔM_N \not\gg Γ_N$. We show that in such a case, the CP ratio ${\cal A}_{CP}(M) \equiv [Γ(M^- \to \ell_1^- \ell_2^- M^{' +})-Γ(M^+ \to \ell_1^+ \ell_2^+ M^{' -})]/[Γ(M^- \to \ell_1^- \ell_2^- M^{' +})+Γ(M^+ \to \ell_1^+ \ell_2^+ M^{' -})]$ becomes a quantity $\sim 1$. The observation of CP violation in these decays would be consistent with the existence of the well-motivated $ν$MSM model with two almost degenerate heavy neutrinos in the mass range between $M_N \sim 0.1$-$10^1$ GeV.

We consider the gluon propagator in the Landau gauge at low spacelike momenta and with the dressing function $Z(Q^2)$ at the two-loop order. We incorporate the nonperturbative effects by making the (noninteger) powers of the QCD coupling in the dressing function $Z(Q^2)$ analytic (holomorphic) via the Fractional Analytic Perturbation Theory (FAPT) model, and simultaneously introducing the gluon dynamical mass in the propagator as motivated by the previous analyses of the Dyson-Schwinger equations. The obtained propagator has behavior compatible with the unquenched lattice data ($N_f=2+1$) at low spacelike momenta $0.4 \ {\rm GeV} < Q \lesssim 10$ GeV. We conclude that the removal of the unphysical Landau singularities of the powers of the coupling via the (F)APT prescription, in conjunction with the introduction of the dynamical mass $M \approx 0.62$ GeV of the gluon, leads to an acceptable behavior of the propagator in the infrared regime.

MSbar-like schemes in QCD have in general the running coupling which contains Landau singularities, i.e., singularities outside the timelike semi-axis, at low squared momenta. As a consequence, evaluation of the spacelike quantities, such as current correlators, in terms of (powers of) such a coupling then results in quantities which contradict the basic principles of Quantum Field Theories. On the other hand, in those QCD frameworks where the running coupling remains finite at low squared momenta (IR freezing), the coupling usually does not have Landau singularities in the complex plane of the squared momenta. I argue that in such QCD frameworks the spacelike quantities should not be evaluated as a power series, but rather as a series in derivatives of the coupling with respect to the logarithm of the squared momenta. Such series show considerably better convergence properties. Moreover, Pade-related resummations of such logarithmic derivative series give convergent series, thus eliminating the practical problem of series divergence due to renormalons.

If $N$ is Dirac, only the lepton number conserving (LC) decays contribute (LC: $ν= ν_e$ or ${\bar ν}_e$); if $N$ is Majorana, both LC and lepton number violating (LV) decays contribute (LV: $ν={\bar ν}_μ$ or $ν=ν_μ$). The results show that the CP asymmetry ${\cal A}_{\rm CP}$ is in general very small, but increases and becomes $\sim 1$ when the masses of the two intermediate neutrinos get closer to each other, i.e., when their mass difference becomes comparable with their decay width, $ΔM_N \not\gg Γ_N$. Perturbative QCD (pQCD) running coupling a(Q^2) (=alpha_s(Q^2)/pi) is expected to get modified at low spacelike momenta 0 < Q^2 < 1 GeV^2 so that, instead of having unphysical (Landau) singularities it remains smooth and finite there, due to infared (IR) fixed point. This behavior is suggested by: Gribov-Zwanziger approach, Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSE) and other functional methods, lattice calculations, light-front holographic map** AdS/CFT modified by a dilaton background, and by most of the analytic (holomorphic) QCD models. All such couplings, A(Q^2), differ from the pQCD couplings a(Q^2) at |Q| > 1 GeV by nonperturbative (NP) terms, typically by some power-suppressed terms ~1/(Q^2)^N. Evaluations of low-energy physical QCD quantities in terms of such A(Q^2) couplings (with IR fixed point) at a level beyond one-loop are usually performed with (truncated) power series in A(Q^2). We argue that such an evaluation is not correct, because the NP terms in general get out of control as the number of terms in the power series increases. The series consequently become increasingly unstable under the variation of the renormalization scale, and have a fast asymptotic divergent behavior compounded by the renormalon problem. We argue that an alternative series in terms of logarithmic derivatives of A(Q^2) should be used. Further, a Padé-related resummation based on this series gives results which are renormalization scale independent and show very good convergence. Timelike low-energy observables can be evaluated analogously, using the integral transformation which relates the timelike observable with the corresponding spacelike observable.

We extract MSbar quark masses mqbar (q=b,c) from the evaluation of the masses of quarkonia Upsilon(1S) and J/ψ(1S), performed in two analytic QCD models, and in perturbative QCD in two renormalization schemes. In analytic QCD the running coupling has no unphysical singularities in the low-momentum regime. We apply the analytic model of Shirkov et al.[Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT)], extended by Bakulev et al.[Fractional Analytic Perturbation Theory (FAPT)], and the two-delta analytic model (2delanQCD). The latter, in contrast to (F)APT, at higher energies basically coincides with the perturbative QCD (in the same scheme). We use the renormalon-free mass mqbar as input. The separation of the soft and ultrasoft parts of the binding energy E is performed by the requirement of the cancellation of the leading infrared renormalon. The analysis in the 2delanQCD model indicates that the low-momentum ultrasoft regime is important for the extraction of the masses mqbar, especially mbbar. The 2delanQCD model gives us clues on how to estimate the influence of the ultrasoft sector on mqbar in general. These effects lead to relatively large values mbbar(mbbar) =approx (4.35 +- 0.08) GeV in the 2delanQCD model, which, however, are compatible with recent lattice calculations. In perturbative QCD in MSbar scheme these effects are even stronger and give larger uncertainties in mbbar. The (F)APT model gives small ultrasoft effects and the extracted values of mbbar agree with those in most of the literature: mbbar(mbbar) =approx 4.2 GeV. The extracted values of mcbar(mcbar) in all four models are about 1.26-1.27 GeV and agree well with those in the literature.

We apply a recently constructed model of analytic QCD in the Operator Product Expansion (OPE) analysis of the tau lepton decay data in the V+A channel. The model has the running coupling A(Q^2) with no unphysical singularities, i.e., it is analytic. It differs from the corresponding perturbative QCD coupling a(Q^2) at high squared momenta |Q^2| by terms ~ 1/(Q^2)^5, hence it does not contradict the ITEP OPE philosophy and can be consistently applied with OPE up to terms of dimension D=8. In evaluations for the Adler function we use a Pade-related renormalization-scale-independent resummation, applicable in any analytic QCD model. Applying the Borel sum rules in the Q^2 plane along rays of the complex Borel scale and comparing with ALEPH data of 1998, we obtain the gluon condensate value <(alpha_s/pi)G^2> = 0.0055 +- 0.0047 GeV^4. Consideration of the D=6 term gives us the result <O6(V+A)> = (-0.5 +- 1.1) 10^{-3} GeV^6, not incompatible with nonnegative values. The real Borel transform gives us then, for the central values of the two condensates, a good agreement with the experimental results in the entire considered interval of the Borel scales M^2. In perturbative QCD in MSbar scheme we deduce similar result for the gluon condensate, 0.0059 +- 0.0049 GeV^4, but the value of D=6 condensate is negative, <O6(V+A)> = (-1.8 +- 0.9) 10^{-3} GeV^6, and the resulting real Borel transform for the central values is close to the lower bound of the experimental band.

In contrast to perturbative QCD, the analytic QCD models have running coupling whose analytic properties correctly mirror those of spacelike observables. The discontinuity (spectral) function of such running coupling is expected to agree with the perturbative case at large timelike momenta; however, at low timelike momenta it is not known. In the latter regime, we parametrize the unknown behavior of the spectral function as a sum of (two) delta functions; while the onset of the perturbative behavior of the spectral function is set to be 1.0-1.5 GeV. This is in close analogy with the "minimal hadronic ansatz" used in the literature for modeling spectral functions of correlators. For the running coupling itself, we impose the condition that it basically merges with the perturbative coupling at high spacelike momenta. In addition, we require that the well-measured nonstrange semihadronic (V+A) tau decay ratio value be reproduced by the model. We thus obtain a QCD framework which is basically indistinguishable from perturbative QCD at high momenta (Q > 1 GeV), and at low momenta it respects the basic analyticity properties of spacelike observables as dictated by the general principles of the local quantum field theories.
