Reverse Divisors and Magic Numbers
Authors:

Abstract:
The study examines the relationship between Ball's magic numbers and reverses divisors. These numbers are the source of beautiful and curious properties. Activities related to numbers can be a fun way to motivate mathematics students, while also enabling surprising analysis and connections.

WSN are a growing technology in industrial and personal use fields. The Quality of Service (QoS) of WSN is associated to the architecture of WSN nodes and network design. In this work, the composition of the nodes and network is analysed. The success of WSN is related to the maximisation of the lifetime and coverage of the device, allied to the minimisation of energy consumption and number of nodes, guaranteeing a good network connectivity and high transmission. The most common WSN issues are presented and reviewed. The most suitable optimisation technique is Multi-objective (MOO) which is exemplified in this work from complex multi-objective functions which include several WSN problems. The second part of this review focus on bio-inspired algorithms in WSN optimisation: Genetic Algorithms (GA), Particles Swarm Optimisation (PSO) and Ant Colony Optimisation (ACO). Other less common methods are also present and related to WSN issues.

Scientific machine learning (SciML) is a field of increasing interest in several different application fields. In an optimization context, SciML-based tools have enabled the development of more efficient optimization methods. However, implementing SciML tools for optimization must be rigorously evaluated and performed with caution. This work proposes the deductions of a robustness test that guarantees the robustness of multiobjective SciML-based optimization by showing that its results respect the universal approximator theorem. The test is applied in the framework of a novel methodology which is evaluated in a series of benchmarks illustrating its consistency. Moreover, the proposed methodology results are compared with feasible regions of rigorous optimization, which requires a significantly higher computational effort. Hence, this work provides a robustness test for guaranteed robustness in applying SciML tools in multiobjective optimization with lower computational effort than the existent alternative.

The flavor is the focal point in the flavor industry, which follows social tendencies and behaviors. The research and development of new flavoring agents and molecules are essential in this field. On the other hand, the development of natural flavors plays a critical role in modern society. In light of this, the present work proposes a novel framework based on Scientific Machine Learning to undertake an emerging problem in flavor engineering and industry. Therefore, this work brings an innovative methodology to design new natural flavor molecules. The molecules are evaluated regarding the synthetic accessibility, the number of atoms, and the likeness to a natural or pseudo-natural product.

Abstract:
Let $K$ be a field and let $\mathbb N = \{1,2, \dots \}$. Let $R_n=K[x_{ij} \mid 1\le i\le n, j\in \mathbb N]$ be the ring of polynomials in $x_{ij}$ $(1 \le i \le n, j \in \mathbb N)$ over $K$. Let $S_n = Sym (\{1,2, \ldots, n \})$ and $Sym (\mathbb N)$ be the groups of the permutations of the sets $\{1,2,\dots, n \}$ and $\mathbb N$, respectively. Let $S_n = Sym (\{1,2, \ldots, n \})$ and $Sym (\mathbb N)$ be the groups of the permutations of the sets $\{1,2,\dots, n \}$ and $\mathbb N$, respectively. Then $S_n$ and $Sym (\mathbb N)$ act on $R_n$ in a natural way: $τ(x_{ij})=x_{τ(i)j}$ and $σ(x_{ij})=x_{iσ(j)}$ for all $τ\in S_n$ and $σ\in Sym(\mathbb N)$. Let $\overline{R}_n$ be the subalgebra of the symmetric polynomials in $R_n$, \[ \overline{R}_n = \{f \in R_n \mid τ(f) = f \mbox{for each} τ\in S_n \} . \] In 1992 the second author proved that if $char (K)= 0$ or $char(K)=p > n$ then every $Sym (\mathbb N)$-invariant ideal in $\overline{R}_n$ is finitely generated (as such). In this note we prove that this is not the case if $char (K)=p\le n$.
We also survey some results about $Sym (\mathbb N)$-invariant ideals in polynomial algebras and some related results.

Abstract:
Let $K$ be a unital associative and commutative ring and let $K \langle X \rangle$ be the free unital associative $K$-algebra on a non-empty set $X$ of free generators. Let $K$ be a unital associative and commutative ring and let $K \langle X \rangle$ be the free unital associative $K$-algebra on a non-empty set $X$ of free generators. Define a left-normed commutator $[a_1, a_2, \dots , a_n]$ inductively by $[a_1, a_2] = a_1 a_2 - a_2 a_1$, $[a_1, \dots , a_{n-1}, a_n] = [[a_1, \dots , a_{n-1}], a_n]$ $(n \ge 3)$. For $n \ge 2$, let $T^{(n)}$ be the two-sided ideal in $K \langle X \rangle$ generated by all commutators $[a_1,a_2, \dots , a_n]$ $( a_i \in K \langle X \rangle )$.
It can be easily seen that the ideal $T^{(2)}$ is generated (as a two-sided ideal in $K \langle X \rangle$) by the commutators $[x_1, x_2]$ $(x_i \in X)$. It is well-known that $T^{(3)}$ is generated by the polynomials $[x_1,x_2,x_3]$ and $[x_1,x_2][x_3,x_4] + [x_1,x_3][x_2,x_4]$ $(x_i \in X)$. A similar generating set for $T^{(4)}$ contains 3 types of polynomials in $x_i \in X$ if $\frac{1}{3} \in K$ and 5 types if $\frac{1}{3} \notin K$. In the present article we exhibit a generating set for $T^{(5)}$ that contains 8 types of polynomials in $x_i \in X$.
