Perfect QCD -- a new Universal approach to soft QCD
Abstract: The ideas presented in this proceeding aims to be a first step towards a description of hadronic collisions where all soft processes are fundamentally strongly coupled and the same Universal strongly coupled physics drives both initial and final-state interactions. As it is not currently possible to derive such a picture from first principles, instead, an attempt to generalize the perfect liquid o… ▽ More

Probing the Gluon Plasma with Charm Balance Functions
Abstract: Recent theoretical explanations for how hydrodynamic-like flow can build up quickly in small collision systems (hydrodynamization) has led to a microscopic picture of flow building up in a gluon-dominated phase before chemical equilibrium between quarks and gluons has been attained. The goal of this contribution to Offshell-2021 is to explore consequence of assuming a long-lived gluon-dominated ph… ▽ More

Experimental Evaluation of Empirical NB-IoT Propagation Modelling in a Deep-Indoor Scenario
Abstract: Path-loss modelling in deep-indoor scenarios is a difficult task. On one hand, the theoretical formulae solely dependent on transmitter-receiver distance are too simple; on the other hand, discovering all significant factors affecting the loss of signal power in a given situation may often be infeasible. In this paper, we experimentally investigate the influence of deep-indoor features such as ind… ▽ More

QCD Challenges from pp to A-A Collisions
Abstract: This paper is a write-up of the ideas that were presented, developed and discussed at the third International Workshop on QCD Challenges from pp to A-A, which took place in August 2019 in Lund, Sweden. The goal of the workshop was to focus on some of the open questions in the field and try to come up with concrete suggestions for how to make progress on both the experimental and theoretical sides.… ▽ More

Confronting Experimental Data with Heavy-Ion Models: Rivet for Heavy Ions
Abstract: The Rivet library is an important toolkit in particle physics, and serves as a repository for analysis data and code. It allows for comparisons between data and theoretical calculations of the final state of collision events. This paper outlines several recent additions and improvements to the framework to include support for analysis of heavy ion collision simulated data. The paper also presents… ▽ More

What Quark-Gluon Plasma in small systems might tell us about nucleons
Abstract: The origin of flow-like effects in small systems, such as those produced in ultra-relativistic proton-proton and proton-lead collisions, is still widely debated. In this paper the goal is to look at possible consequences if indeed a mini-Quark-Gluon Plasma is formed in these collisions. It is argued that this could indicate a duality between the QGP phase and the color fields in hadrons. A qualita… ▽ More

High $p_{\rm T}$ spectra and anisotropy of light and heavy hadrons
Abstract: Data driven studies of heavy-ion results has played a big role in highlighting interesting features of these complex systems. In this proceeding, a simple QGP-brick interpretation of the $R_{\rm AA}$ and $v_{2}$ at high $p_{\rm T}$ ($p_{\rm T} \approx 10$ GeV/c) is presented. This interpretation draws attention to two fundamental questions: is there an effect of the asymmetric QGP expansion on the… ▽ More

Event-Shape Engineering and Jet Quenching
Abstract: Event-Shape Engineering (ESE) is a tool that enables some control of the initial geometry in heavy-ion collisions in a similar way as the centrality enables some control of the number of participants. Utilizing ESE, the path length in and out-of plane can be varied while kee** the medium properties (centrality) fixed. In this proceeding it is argued that this provides additional experimental inf… ▽ More

Identified Particle Production in p-Pb Collisions Measured with the ALICE Detector
Abstract: ALICE has unique capabilities among the LHC experiments for particle identification (PID) at mid-rapidity ($|η| < 0.9$) over a wide range of transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$). In this proceeding recent measurements of $p_{\rm T}$ spectra for $π$, K, ${\rm K}^0_s$, p, and $Λ$ in p-Pb collisions are presented and compared to results from Pb-Pb and pp. In particular the implications for the question… ▽ More

High pt identified particle production in ALICE
Abstract: The ALICE experiment is a dedicated heavy ion physics detector at the LHC with unique capabilities for studying identified particle production. In this proceeding preliminary results for RAA for pi and K+p (sum), are reported, based on measurements in pp at sqrt(s) = 2.76 TeV and Pb-Pb at sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV. The results are compared to theoretical predictions and measurements at RHIC.

Particle Identification Studies with an ALICE Test TPC
Abstract: Using a test TPC, consisting of the ALICE TPC field cage prototype in combination with the final ALICE TPC readout and electronics, the energy loss distribution and resolution were measured for identified protons. The measurements were compared to theoretical calculations and good quantitative agreement was found when detector effects were taken into account. The implications for particle identi… ▽ More

Rapidity Dependence of Net-protons at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV
Abstract: The BRAHMS collaboration has measured inclusive proton and anti-proton spectra at several rapidities (0 < y < 3) for Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV. Rapidity densities of protons, anti-protons, and net-protons [N(p)-N(p-bar)] are presented as a function of rapidity.
