Abstract: The objective of this article is to study the boundary value problem for the general semilinear elliptic equation of second order involving $L^1$ functions or Radon measures with finite total variation. The study investigates the existence and uniqueness of `{\it very weak}' solutions to the boundary value problem for a given $L^1$ function. However, a `{\it very weak}' solution need not exist whe… ▽ More

Composition operators on Orlicz-Sobolev spaces
Abstract: The kernel of composition operator $C_T$ on Orlicz-Sobolev space is obtained. Using the kernel, a necessary and a sufficient condition for injectivity of composition operator $C_T$ has been established. Composition operators on Orlicz-Sobolev space with finite ascent as well as infinite ascent have been characterized.

A problem involving the $p$-Laplacian operator
Abstract: Using a variational technique we guarantee the existence of a solution to the \emph{resonant Lane-Emden} problem $-Δ_p u=λ|u|^{q-2}u$, $u|_{\partialΩ}=0$ if and only if a solution to $-Δ_p u=λ|u|^{q-2}u+f$, $u|_{\partialΩ}=0$, $f\in L^{p'}(Ω)$ ($p'$ being the conjugate of $p$), exists for $q\in (1,p)\bigcup (p,p^{*})$ under a certain condition for both the cases, i.e., $1<q<p<p^{*}$ and… ▽ More

Multi-scale Patterns formed by Sodium Sulphate in a Drying Droplet of Gelatin
Abstract: We present a study of patterns, formed in drying drops of aqueous gelatin solution containing sodium sulphate. The patterns are highly complex, consisting of a hierarchical sequence of rings which form concentric bands as well as dendritic crystalline aggregates. When the preparation of the complex fluid is done by mixing an aqueous solution of the salt with an aqueous solution of gelatin prepared… ▽ More
