GPU remoting is a promising technique for supporting AI applications. Networking plays a key role in enabling remoting. However, for efficient remoting, the network requirements in terms of latency and bandwidth are unknown. In this paper, we take a GPU-centric approach to derive the minimum latency and bandwidth requirements for GPU remoting, while ensuring no (or little) performance degradation for AI applications. Our study including theoretical model demonstrates that, with careful remoting design, unmodified AI applications can run on the remoting setup using commodity networking hardware without any overhead or even with better performance, with low network demands.

The $D^+\to f_0(500)μ^+ν_μ$ decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of $D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e$ in different $\ell^+ν_\ell$ four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor $f^{f_0}_{+}(0)$ and the magnitude of the $c\to d$ Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ is determined to be $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)|V_{cd}|=0.0787\pm0.0060_{\rm stat}\pm0.0033_{\rm syst}$ for the first time. With the input of $|V_{cd}|$ from the global fit in the standard model, we determine $f_{+}^{f_0} (0)=0.350\pm0.027_{\rm stat}\pm0.015_{\rm syst}$. The absolute branching fractions of $D^+\to f_0(500)_{(π^+π^-)}μ^+ν_μ$ and $D^+\to ρ^0_{(π^+π^-)} μ^+ν_μ$ are determined as $(0.72\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3}$ and $(1.64\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.11_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to ρ^0 e^+ν_e}=0.88\pm0.10$ and ${\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) μ^+ν_μ}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) e^+ν_e}=1.14\pm0.28$, which are compatible with the standard model expectation.

Common-pool resource governance requires users to cooperate and avoid overexploitation, but defection and free-riding often undermine cooperation. We model a human-environmental system that integrates dynamics of resource and users' strategies. The resource follows a logistic function that depends on natural growth rate, carrying capacity, and extraction rates of cooperators and defectors. The users' strategies evolve according to different processes that capture effects of payoff, resource, and noise. We analyze the feedback between resource availability and strategic adaptation, and explores the conditions for the emergence and maintenance of cooperation. We find different processes lead to different regimes of equilibrium solutions and resource levels depending on the parameter configuration and initial conditions. We also show that some processes can enhance the sustainability of the resource by making the users more responsive to the resource scarcity. The paper advances the understanding of human-environmental system and offers insights for resource governance policies and interventions.

Among the compact objects observed in gravitational wave merger events a few have masses in the gap between the most massive neutron stars (NSs) and least massive black holes (BHs) known. Their nature and the formation of their merging binaries are not well understood. We report on pulsar timing observations using the Karoo Array Telescope (MeerKAT) of PSR J0514-4002E, an eccentric binary millisecond pulsar in the globular cluster NGC 1851 with a total binary mass of $3.887 \pm 0.004$ solar masses. The companion to the pulsar is a compact object and its mass (between $2.09$ and $2.71$ solar masses, 95% confidence interval) is in the mass gap, so it either is a very massive NS or a low-mass BH. We propose the companion was formed by a merger between two earlier NSs.

The measurements are performed at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.510 to 4.951 GeV. No significant evidence for the decay of the charmonium(-like) states, $ψ(3770)$, $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4160)$, $Y(4230)$, $Y(4360)$, $ψ(4415)$, and $Y(4660)$, into a $Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$ final state is observed. Consequently, upper limits for the products of the branching fractions and the electronic partial widths at the 90% confidence level are reported for these decays.

This result is lower than the naive prediction of 67\%, obtained from isospin symmetry, by more than $2σ$, thereby indicating that the novel mechanism referred to as the \textit{threshold effect}, proposed for the strong decays of $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}$, also applies to $Λ_{c}(2625)^{+}$. This measurement is necessary to obtain the coupling constants for the transitions between $s$-wave and $p$-wave charmed baryons in heavy hadron chiral perturbation theory. In addition, we search for the decay $Λ_{c}(2595)^{+}\to Λ^{+}_{c}π^+π^-$. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on its branching fraction is determined to be 80.8\% at the 90\% confidence level.

Within the single pole model, the parameter of electromagnetic transition form factor for $η\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ is determined to be $Λ_η=(0.749 \pm 0.027 \pm 0.007)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$. Within the multi-pole model, we extract the electromagnetic transition form factors for $η'\rightarrowγe^+e^-$ to be $Λ_{η'} = (0.802 \pm 0.007\pm 0.008)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$ and $γ_{η'} = (0.113\pm0.010\pm0.002)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}$. The results are consistent with both theoretical predictions and previous measurements. The characteristic sizes of the interaction regions for the $η$ and $η'$ are calculated to be $(0.645 \pm 0.023 \pm 0.007 )~ {\rm fm}$ and $(0.596 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.006)~ {\rm fm}$, respectively. In addition, we search for the dark photon in $η/η^\prime\rightarrowγe^{+}e^{-}$, and the upper limits of the branching fractions as a function of the dark photon are given at 90\% confidence level.

Clear signals are observed for the two reactions. The cross sections in $-0.9\leq\rm{cos}θ_{Λ/\barΛ}\leq0.9$ are measured to be $σ(Λp\rightarrowΛp)=(12.2\pm1.6_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.1_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(\barΛ p\rightarrow\barΛ p)=(17.5\pm2.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.6_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Λ/\barΛ$ momentum of $1.074$ GeV/$c$ within a range of $\pm0.017$ GeV/$c$, where the $θ_{Λ/\barΛ}$ are the scattering angles of the $Λ/\barΛ$ in the $Λp/\barΛp$ rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for $Λp\rightarrowΛp$, and a strong forward peak for $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction.

Recent studies indicate that Generative Pre-trained Transformer 4 with Vision (GPT-4V) outperforms human physicians in medical challenge tasks. However, these evaluations primarily focused on the accuracy of multi-choice questions alone. Our study extends the current scope by conducting a comprehensive analysis of GPT-4V's rationales of image comprehension, recall of medical knowledge, and step-by-step multimodal reasoning when solving New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) Image Challenges - an imaging quiz designed to test the knowledge and diagnostic capabilities of medical professionals. Evaluation results confirmed that GPT-4V performs comparatively to human physicians regarding multi-choice accuracy (81.6% vs. 77.8%). GPT-4V also performs well in cases where physicians incorrectly answer, with over 78% accuracy. However, we discovered that GPT-4V frequently presents flawed rationales in cases where it makes the correct final choices (35.5%), most prominent in image comprehension (27.2%). Regardless of GPT-4V's high accuracy in multi-choice questions, our findings emphasize the necessity for further in-depth evaluations of its rationales before integrating such multimodal AI models into clinical workflows.

These features make DDMs attractive to nuclear fusion energy and power plant applications, leveraging accelerated workflows through machine learning and artificial intelligence. Here we describe Physics-informed Meta-instrument for eXperiments (PiMiX) that integrates X-ray (including high-energy photons such as $γ$-rays from nuclear fusion), neutron and others (such as proton radiography) measurements for nuclear fusion. PiMiX solves multi-domain high-dimensional optimization problems and integrates multi-modal measurements with multiphysics modeling through neural networks. Super-resolution for neutron detection and energy resolved X-ray detection have been demonstrated. Multi-modal measurements through MIDF can extract more information than individual or uni-modal measurements alone. Further optimization schemes through DF are possible towards empirical fusion scaling laws discovery and new fusion reactor designs.

We perform a detailed spectral analysis of the linearized problem associated to the above mentioned perturbations, and derive various stability and instability criteria which depends in a delicate way on the parameter value of $b$, the transverse dispersion parameter $σ$, and the wave number $k$ of the longitudinal waves.

Negative sampling is essential for implicit collaborative filtering to provide proper negative training signals so as to achieve desirable performance. We experimentally unveil a common limitation of all existing negative sampling methods that they can only select negative samples of a fixed hardness level, leading to the false positive problem (FPP) and false negative problem (FNP). We then propose a new paradigm called adaptive hardness negative sampling (AHNS) and discuss its three key criteria. By adaptively selecting negative samples with appropriate hardnesses during the training process, AHNS can well mitigate the impacts of FPP and FNP. Next, we present a concrete instantiation of AHNS called AHNS_{p<0}, and theoretically demonstrate that AHNS_{p<0} can fit the three criteria of AHNS well and achieve a larger lower bound of normalized discounted cumulative gain. Besides, we note that existing negative sampling methods can be regarded as more relaxed cases of AHNS. Finally, we conduct comprehensive experiments, and the results show that AHNS_{p<0} can consistently and substantially outperform several state-of-the-art competitors on multiple datasets.

An emergent and promising tensor-network-based impurity solver is to represent the path integral as a matrix product state, where the bath is analytically integrated out using Feynman-Vernon influence functional. Here we present an approach to calculate the equilibrium impurity spectral function based on the recently proposed Grassmann time-evolving matrix product operators method. The central idea is to perform a quench from a separable impurity-bath initial state as in the non-equilibrium scenario. The retarded Green's function $G(t+t_0, t'+t_0)$ is then calculated after an equilibration time $t_0$ such that the impurity and bath are approximately in thermal equilibrium. There are two major advantages of this method. First, since we focus on real-time dynamics, we do not need to perform the numerically ill-posed analytic continuation in the continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo case that relies on imaginary-time evolution. Second, the entanglement growth of the matrix product states in real-time calculations is observed to be much slower than that in imaginary-time calculations, leading to a significant improvement in numerical efficiency. The accuracy of this method is demonstrated in the single-orbital Anderson impurity model and benchmarked against the continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo method.

Diffusion models have become the go-to method for large-scale generative models in real-world applications. These applications often involve data distributions confined within bounded domains, typically requiring ad-hoc thresholding techniques for boundary enforcement. Reflected diffusion models (Lou23) aim to enhance generalizability by generating the data distribution through a backward process governed by reflected Brownian motion. However, reflected diffusion models may not easily adapt to diverse domains without the derivation of proper diffeomorphic map**s and do not guarantee optimal transport properties. To overcome these limitations, we introduce the Reflected Schrodinger Bridge algorithm: an entropy-regularized optimal transport approach tailored for generating data within diverse bounded domains. We derive elegant reflected forward-backward stochastic differential equations with Neumann and Robin boundary conditions, extend divergence-based likelihood training to bounded domains, and explore natural connections to entropic optimal transport for the study of approximate linear convergence - a valuable insight for practical training. Our algorithm yields robust generative modeling in diverse domains, and its scalability is demonstrated in real-world constrained generative modeling through standard image benchmarks.

In recent years, Floquet engineering has attracted considerable attention as a promising approach for tuning topological phase transitions. In this work, we investigate the effects of high-frequency time-periodic driving in a four-dimensional (4D) topological insulator, focusing on topological phase transitions at the off-resonant quasienergy gap. The 4D topological insulator hosts gapless three-dimensional boundary states characterized by the second Chern number $C_{2}$. We demonstrate that the second Chern number of 4D topological insulators can be modulated by tuning the amplitude of time-periodic driving. This includes transitions from a topological phase with $C_{2}=\pm3$ to another topological phase with $C_{2}=\pm1$, or to a topological phase with an even second Chern number $C_{2}=\pm2$ which is absent in the 4D static system. Finally, the approximation theory in the high-frequency limit further confirms the numerical conclusions.

DES-SN discovered more than 20,000 SN candidates and obtained spectroscopic redshifts of 7,000 host galaxies. Based on the light-curve quality, we select 1635 photometrically-identified SNe Ia with spectroscopic redshift 0.10$< z <$1.13, which is the largest sample of supernovae from any single survey and increases the number of known $z>0.5$ supernovae by a factor of five. In a companion paper, we present cosmological results of the DES-SN sample combined with 194 spectroscopically-classified SNe Ia at low redshift as an anchor for cosmological fits. Here we present extensive modeling of this combined sample and validate the entire analysis pipeline used to derive distances. We show that the statistical and systematic uncertainties on cosmological parameters are $σ_{Ω_M,{\rm stat+sys}}^{Λ{\rm CDM}}=$0.017 in a flat $Λ$CDM model, and $(σ_{Ω_M},σ_w)_{\rm stat+sys}^{w{\rm CDM}}=$(0.082, 0.152) in a flat $w$CDM model. Combining the DES SN data with the highly complementary CMB measurements by Planck Collaboration (2020) reduces uncertainties on cosmological parameters by a factor of 4. In all cases, statistical uncertainties dominate over systematics. We show that uncertainties due to photometric classification make up less than 10% of the total systematic uncertainty budget. This result sets the stage for the next generation of SN cosmology surveys such as the Vera C. Rubin Observatory's Legacy Survey of Space and Time.

We present cosmological constraints from the sample of Type Ia supernovae (SN Ia) discovered during the full five years of the Dark Energy Survey (DES) Supernova Program. In contrast to most previous cosmological samples, in which SN are classified based on their spectra, we classify the DES SNe using a machine learning algorithm applied to their light curves in four photometric bands. Spectroscopic redshifts are acquired from a dedicated follow-up survey of the host galaxies. After accounting for the likelihood of each SN being a SN Ia, we find 1635 DES SNe in the redshift range $0.10<z<1.13$ that pass quality selection criteria sufficient to constrain cosmological parameters. This quintuples the number of high-quality $z>0.5$ SNe compared to the previous leading compilation of Pantheon+, and results in the tightest cosmological constraints achieved by any SN data set to date. To derive cosmological constraints we combine the DES supernova data with a high-quality external low-redshift sample consisting of 194 SNe Ia spanning $0.025<z<0.10$. Using SN data alone and including systematic uncertainties we find $Ω_{\rm M}=0.352\pm 0.017$ in flat $Λ$CDM. Supernova data alone now require acceleration ($q_0<0$ in $Λ$CDM) with over $5σ$ confidence. We find $(Ω_{\rm M},w)=(0.264^{+0.074}_{-0.096},-0.80^{+0.14}_{-0.16})$ in flat $w$CDM. For flat $w_0w_a$CDM, we find $(Ω_{\rm M},w_0,w_a)=(0.495^{+0.033}_{-0.043},-0.36^{+0.36}_{-0.30},-8.8^{+3.7}_{-4.5})$. Including Planck CMB data, SDSS BAO data, and DES $3\times2$-point data gives $(Ω_{\rm M},w)=(0.321\pm0.007,-0.941\pm0.026)$. In all cases dark energy is consistent with a cosmological constant to within $\sim2σ$. In our analysis, systematic errors on cosmological parameters are subdominant compared to statistical errors; paving the way for future photometrically classified supernova analyses.

In Federated Learning (FL), common privacy-enhancing techniques, such as secure aggregation and distributed differential privacy, rely on the critical assumption of an honest majority among participants to withstand various attacks. In practice, however, servers are not always trusted, and an adversarial server can strategically select compromised clients to create a dishonest majority, thereby undermining the system's security guarantees. In this paper, we present Lotto, an FL system that addresses this fundamental, yet underexplored issue by providing secure participant selection against an adversarial server. Lotto supports two selection algorithms: random and informed. To ensure random selection without a trusted server, Lotto enables each client to autonomously determine their participation using verifiable randomness. For informed selection, which is more vulnerable to manipulation, Lotto approximates the algorithm by employing random selection within a refined client pool. Our theoretical analysis shows that Lotto effectively aligns the proportion of server-selected compromised participants with the base rate of dishonest clients in the population. Large-scale experiments further reveal that Lotto achieves time-to-accuracy performance comparable to that of insecure selection methods, indicating a low computational overhead for secure selection.

We present cosmological constraints from the abundance of galaxy clusters selected via the thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect in South Pole Telescope (SPT) data with a simultaneous mass calibration using weak gravitational lensing data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). The cluster sample is constructed from the combined SPT-SZ, SPTpol ECS, and SPTpol 500d surveys, and comprises 1,005 confirmed clusters in the redshift range $0.25-1.78$ over a total sky area of 5,200 deg$^2$. We use DES Year 3 weak-lensing data for 688 clusters with redshifts $z<0.95$ and HST weak-lensing data for 39 clusters with $0.6<z<1.7$. The weak-lensing measurements enable robust mass measurements of sample clusters and allow us to empirically constrain the SZ observable--mass relation. For a flat $Λ$CDM cosmology, and marginalizing over the sum of massive neutrinos, we measure $Ω_\mathrm{m}=0.286\pm0.032$, $σ_8=0.817\pm0.026$, and the parameter combination $σ_8\,(Ω_\mathrm{m}/0.3)^{0.25}=0.805\pm0.016$. Our measurement of $S_8\equivσ_8\,\sqrt{Ω_\mathrm{m}/0.3}=0.795\pm0.029$ and the constraint from Planck CMB anisotropies (2018 TT,TE,EE+lowE) differ by $1.1σ$. In combination with that Planck dataset, we place a 95% upper limit on the sum of neutrino masses $\sum m_ν<0.18$ eV. When additionally allowing the dark energy equation of state parameter $w$ to vary, we obtain $w=-1.45\pm0.31$ from our cluster-based analysis. In combination with Planck data, we measure $w=-1.34^{+0.22}_{-0.15}$, or a $2.2σ$ difference with a cosmological constant. We use the cluster abundance to measure $σ_8$ in five redshift bins between 0.25 and 1.8, and we find the results to be consistent with structure growth as predicted by the $Λ$CDM model fit to Planck primary CMB data.

Cross-target stance detection (CTSD) is an important task, which infers the attitude of the destination target by utilizing annotated data derived from the source target. One important approach in CTSD is to extract domain-invariant features to bridge the knowledge gap between multiple targets. However, the analysis of informal and short text structure, and implicit expressions, complicate the extraction of domain-invariant knowledge. In this paper, we propose a Multi-Perspective Prompt-Tuning (MPPT) model for CTSD that uses the analysis perspective as a bridge to transfer knowledge. First, we develop a two-stage instruct-based chain-of-thought method (TsCoT) to elicit target analysis perspectives and provide natural language explanations (NLEs) from multiple viewpoints by formulating instructions based on large language model (LLM). Second, we propose a multi-perspective prompt-tuning framework (MultiPLN) to fuse the NLEs into the stance predictor. Extensive experiments results demonstrate the superiority of MPPT against the state-of-the-art baseline methods.

Mergers of binary compact objects, accompanied with electromagnetic (EM) counterparts, offer excellent opportunities to explore varied cosmological models, since gravitational waves (GWs) and EM counterparts always carry the information of luminosity distance and redshift, respectively. $f(T)$ gravity, which alters the background evolution and provides a friction term in the propagation of GWs, can be tested by comparing the modified GW luminosity distance with the EM luminosity distance. Considering the third-generation gravitational-wave detectors, Einstein Telescope and two cosmic explorers, we simulate a series of GW events of binary neutron stars and neutron-star-black-hole binaries with EM counterparts. These simulations can be used to constrain $f(T)$ gravity [especially the power-law model $f(T)=T+α(-T)^β$ in this work] and other cosmological parameters, such as $β$ and the Hubble constant. In addition, combining simulations with current observations of type Ia supernovae and baryon acoustic oscillations, we obtain tighter limitations for $f(T)$ gravity. We find that the estimated precision significantly improved when all three datasets are combined ($Δβ\sim 0.03$), compared to analyzing the current observations alone ($Δβ\sim 0.3$). Simultaneously, the uncertainty of the Hubble constant can be reduced to approximately $1\%$.

This study focuses on the "ecology-food" imbalance problem.taking Sichuan-Chongqing Region as an example, to set up future scenarios topredicate the distribution of ESs. We first forecast land use/cover change in 2050under four different scenarios: Natural Development Scenarios; Arable LandConservation Scenarios; Ecological Priority Scenarios; Ecology-Arable LandHarmonization Scenarios. Then we assess changes in five ESs: habitat quality ,cropproduction, soil conservation, water yield, and carbon storage from 1990 to 2020 and2050. Finally, we reveal the spacial distribution of ESs. The following conclusions areobtained: (1) From 1990-2020, CS, SC, and HQ reveal an increasing trend with growthrates of 1.68%, 0.08%, and 0.46%: CP reveals a reduce rate of 2.75% . (2) S4 has anincrease in arable land, and CP has increased by 7.56% compared to S1, reversingthe trend of reduced CP under S1. (3) The high-high anomalies area of CP under S4 isoasically the same as that under S2, which proves that S4 is a scenario policy that canbe referred to for future development.

The goal is to equip robots with the ability to reliably receive objects with unseen geometry handed over by humans in various complex trajectories. We acquire such generalizability by learning H2R handover at scale with a comprehensive solution including procedural simulation assets creation, automated demonstration generation, and effective imitation learning. We leverage large-scale 3D model repositories, dexterous grasp generation methods, and curve-based 3D animation to create an H2R handover simulation environment named \simabbns, surpassing the number of scenes in existing simulators by three orders of magnitude. We further introduce a distillation-friendly demonstration generation method that automatically generates a million high-quality demonstrations suitable for learning. Finally, we present a 4D imitation learning method augmented by a future forecasting objective to distill demonstrations into a visuo-motor handover policy. Experimental evaluations in both simulators and the real world demonstrate significant improvements (at least +10\% success rate) over baselines in all cases. It is found that evaluation content and images on social media can reflect individuals' concerns and sentiment responses, providing a rich data base for cognitive research that contains both sentimental and image-based cognitive information. Leveraging deep learning techniques, we analyze textual and visual data from social media, thereby unveiling the relationship between people's perceptions and sentiment cognition within the context of overseas Chinese gardens. In addition, our study introduces a multi-agent system (MAS)alongside AI agents. Each agent explores the laws of aesthetic cognition through chat scene simulation combined with web search. This study goes beyond the traditional approach of translating perceptions into sentiment scores, allowing for an extension of the research methodology in terms of directly analyzing texts and digging deeper into opinion data. This study provides new perspectives for understanding aesthetic experience and its impact on architecture and landscape design across diverse cultural contexts, which is an essential contribution to the field of cultural communication and aesthetic understanding.

We report a stable, low loss method for coupling light from silicon-on-insulator (SOI) photonic chips into optical fibers. The technique is realized using an on-chip tapered waveguide and a cleaved small core optical fiber. The on-chip taper is monolithic and does not require a patterned cladding, thus simplifying the chip fabrication process. The optical fiber segment is composed of a centimeter-long small core fiber (UHNA7) which is spliced to SMF-28 fiber with less than -0.1 dB loss. We observe an overall coupling loss of -0.64 dB with this design. The chip edge and fiber tip can be butt coupled without damaging the on-chip taper or fiber. Friction between the surfaces maintains alignment leading to an observation of +-0.1 dB coupling fluctuation during a ten-day continuous measurement without use of any adhesive. This technique minimizes the potential for generating Raman noise in the fiber, and has good stability compared to coupling strategies based on longer UHNA fibers or fragile lensed fibers. We also applied the edge coupler on a correlated photon pair source and observed a raw coincidence count rate of 1.21 million cps and raw heralding efficiency of 21.3%. We achieved an auto correlation function g^(2) (0) as low as 0.0004 at the low pump power regime.

The magnetic Weyl semimetal Co$_3$Sn$_2$S$_2$ is extensively investigated due to its giant anomalous Hall effect (AHE).Recent studies demonstrate that the AHE can be effectively tuned by multi-electron Ni do**.To reveal the underlying mechanism of this significant manipulation,it is crucial to explore the band structure modification caused by Ni do**. Here,we study the electrodynamics of both pristine and Ni-doped Co$_{3-x}$Ni$_x$Sn$_2$S$_2$ with $x=$0, 0.11 and 0.17 by infrared spectroscopy. We find that the inverted energy gap around the Fermi level($E_{F}$) gets smaller at $x=$0.11,which is supposed to enhance the Berry curvature and therefore increase the AHE.Then $E_{F}$ moves out of this gap at $x=$0.17. Additionally, the low temperature carrier density is demonstrated to increase monotonically upon do**,which is different from previous Hall measurement results. We also observe the evidences of band broadening and exotic changes of high-energy interband transitions caused by do**.Our results provide detailed information about the band structure of Co$_{3-x}$Ni$_x$Sn$_2$S$_2$ at different do** levels, which will help to guide further studies on the chemical tuning of AHE.

Floquet topological insulators have been widely investigated in lower-dimensional systems. However, Floquet topological insulators induced by time-periodic driving in higher-dimensional systems remain unexplored. In this work, we study the effects of time-periodic driving in a four-dimensional (4D) normal insulator, focusing on topological phase transitions at the resonant quasienergy gap. We consider two types of time-periodic driving, including a time-periodic onsite potential and a time-periodic vector potential. We reveal that both types of time-periodic driving can transform the 4D normal insulator into a 4D Floquet topological insulator characterized by an emergent second Chern number. Moreover, it is found that the topological phase of the 4D system can be modulated by tuning the strength and frequency of the time-periodic driving. Our work will be helpful for the future investigation of Floquet topological insulators in higher dimensions.

The accelerated proliferation of visual content and the rapid development of machine vision technologies bring significant challenges in delivering visual data on a gigantic scale, which shall be effectively represented to satisfy both human and machine requirements. In this work, we investigate how hierarchical representations derived from the advanced generative prior facilitate constructing an efficient scalable coding paradigm for human-machine collaborative vision. Our key insight is that by exploiting the StyleGAN prior, we can learn three-layered representations encoding hierarchical semantics, which are elaborately designed into the basic, middle, and enhanced layers, supporting machine intelligence and human visual perception in a progressive fashion. With the aim of achieving efficient compression, we propose the layer-wise scalable entropy transformer to reduce the redundancy between layers. Based on the multi-task scalable rate-distortion objective, the proposed scheme is jointly optimized to achieve optimal machine analysis performance, human perception experience, and compression ratio. We validate the proposed paradigm's feasibility in face image compression. Extensive qualitative and quantitative experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed paradigm over the latest compression standard Versatile Video Coding (VVC) in terms of both machine analysis as well as human perception at extremely low bitrates ($<0.01$ bpp), offering new insights for human-machine collaborative compression.

Magnetar giant flares (MGFs), originating from noncatastrophic magnetars, share noteworthy similarities with some short gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). However, understanding their detailed origin and radiation mechanisms remains challenging due to limited observations. The discovery of MGF GRB 231115A, the second extragalactic MGF located in the Cigar galaxy at a luminosity distance of $\sim 3.5$ Mpc, offers yet another significant opportunity for gaining insights into the aforementioned topics. This Letter explores its temporal properties and conducts a comprehensive analysis of both the time-integrated and time-resolved spectra through empirical and physical model fitting. Our results reveal certain properties of GRB 231115A that bear resemblances to GRB 200415A. We employ a Comptonized fireball bubble model, in which the Compton cloud, formed by the magnetar wind with high density $e^{\pm}$, undergoes Compton scattering and inverse Compton scattering, resulting in reshaped thermal spectra from the expanding fireball at the photosphere radius. This leads to dynamic shifts in dominant emission features over time. Our model successfully fits the observed data, providing a constrained physical picture, such as a trapped fireball with a radius of $\sim 1.95 \times 10^{5}$ cm and a high local magnetic field of $2.5\times 10^{16}$ G. The derived peak energy and isotropic energy of the event further confirm the burst's MGF origin and its contribution to the MGF-GRB sample. We also discuss prospects for further gravitational wave detection associated with MGFs, given their high-event-rate density ($\sim 8\times 10^5\ \rm Gpc^{-3}\ yr^{-1}$) and ultrahigh local magnetic field.

This paper examines the safety performance of the Waymo Driver, an SAE level 4 automated driving system (ADS) used in a rider-only (RO) ride-hailing application without a human driver, either in the vehicle or remotely. ADS crash data was derived from NHTSA's Standing General Order (SGO) reporting over 7.14 million RO miles through the end of October 2023 in Phoenix, AZ, San Francisco, CA, and Los Angeles, CA. This study is one of the first to compare overall crashed vehicle rates using only RO data (as opposed to ADS testing with a human behind the wheel) to a human benchmark that also corrects for biases caused by underreporting and unequal reporting thresholds reported in the literature. When considering all locations together, the any-injury-reported crashed vehicle rate was 0.41 incidents per million miles (IPMM) for the ADS vs 2.78 IPMM for the human benchmark, an 85% reduction or a 6.8 times lower rate. Police-reported crashed vehicle rates for all locations together were 2.1 IPMM for the ADS vs. 4.85 IPMM for the human benchmark, a 57% reduction or 2.3 times lower rate. Police-reported and any-injury-reported crashed vehicle rate reductions for the ADS were statistically significant when compared in San Francisco and Phoenix as well as combined across all locations. The comparison in Los Angeles, which to date has low mileage and no reported events, was not statistically significant. In general, the Waymo ADS had a lower any property damage or injury rate than the human benchmarks. Given imprecision in the benchmark estimate and multiple potential sources of underreporting biasing the benchmarks, caution should be taken when interpreting the results of the any property damage or injury comparison. Together, these crash-rate results should be interpreted as a directional and continuous confidence growth indicator, together with other methodologies, in a safety case approach.

The ratio of neutral-to-charged kaon form factors at large momentum transfers ($12~{\rm GeV}^2<Q^2<25~{\rm GeV}^2$) is determined to be $0.21\pm 0.01$, which indicates a small but significant effect of flavor-SU(3) breaking in the kaon wave function, and consequently excludes the possibility that flavor-SU(3) breaking is the primary reason for the strong experimental violation of the pQCD prediction $|F(π^{\pm})|/|F(K^{\pm})|=f^2_π/f^2_{K}$, where $F(π^{\pm})$ and $F(K^{\pm})$ are the form factors, and $f_π$ and $f_{K}$ are the decay constants of charged pions and kaons, respectively. We also observe a significant signal for the charmless decay $ψ(3770)\to K_S^0K_L^0$ for the first time. Within a $1σ$ contour of the likelihood value, the the branching fraction for $ψ(3770)\to K_S^0K_L^0$ is determined to be ${\cal B}=(2.63_{-1.59}^{+1.40})\times 10^{-5}$, and the relative phase between the continuum and $ψ(3770)$ amplitudes is $φ=(-0.39_{-0.10}^{+0.05})π$. The branching fraction is in good agreement with the $\mathcal{S}$- and $\mathcal{D}$-wave charmonia mixing scheme proposed in the interpretation of the "$ρπ$ puzzle" between $J/ψ$ and $ψ(3686)$ decays.

The development of generative design driven by artificial intelligence algorithms is speedy. There are two research gaps in the current research: 1) Most studies only focus on the relationship between design elements and pay little attention to the external information of the site; 2) GAN and other traditional generative algorithms generate results with low resolution and insufficient details. To address these two problems, we integrate GAN, Stable diffusion multimodal large-scale image pre-training model to construct a full-process park generative design method: 1) First, construct a high-precision remote sensing object extraction system for automated extraction of urban environmental information; 2) Secondly, use GAN to construct a park design generation system based on the external environment, which can quickly infer and generate design schemes from urban environmental information; 3) Finally, introduce Stable Diffusion to optimize the design plan, fill in details, and expand the resolution of the plan by 64 times. This method can achieve a fully unmanned design automation workflow. The research results show that: 1) The relationship between the inside and outside of the site will affect the algorithm generation results. 2) Compared with traditional GAN algorithms, Stable diffusion significantly improve the information richness of the generated results.

Smart roads have become an essential component of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The roadside perception technology, a critical aspect of smart roads, utilizes various sensors, roadside units (RSUs), and edge computing devices to gather real-time traffic data for vehicle-road cooperation. However, the full potential of smart roads in improving the safety and efficiency of autonomous vehicles only can be realized through the mass deployment of roadside perception and communication devices. On the one hand, roadside devices require significant investment but can only achieve monitoring function currently, resulting in no profitability for investors. On the other hand, drivers lack trust in the safety of autonomous driving technology, making it difficult to promote large-scale commercial applications. To deal with the dilemma of mass deployment, we propose a novel smart-road vehicle-guiding architecture for vehicle-road cooperative autonomous driving, based on which we then propose the corresponding business model and analyze its benefits from both operator and driver perspectives. The numerical simulations validate that our proposed smart road solution can enhance driving safety and traffic efficiency. Moreover, we utilize the cost-benefit analysis (CBA) model to assess the economic advantages of the proposed business model which indicates that the smart highway that can provide vehicle-guided-driving services for autonomous vehicles yields more profit than the regular highway.

Coherent optics has profoundly impacted diverse applications ranging from communications, LiDAR to quantum computations. However, building coherent systems in integrated photonics previously came at great expense in hardware integration and energy efficiency: the lack of a power-efficient way to generate highly coherent light necessitates bulky lasers and amplifiers, while frequency and phase recovery schemes require huge digital signal processing resources. In this work, we demonstrate a high-coherence parallelization strategy that facilitates advanced integrated coherent systems at a minimum price. Using a self-injection locked microcomb to injection lock a distributed feedback laser array, we boost the microcomb power by a record high gain of up to 60 dB on chip with no degradation in coherence. This strategy enables tens of highly coherent channels with an intrinsic linewidth down to the 10 Hz level and power of more than 20 dBm. The overall electrical to optical wall-plug efficiency reaches 19%, comparable with that of the state-of-the-art semiconductor lasers. Driven by this parallel source, we demonstrate a silicon photonic communication link with an unprecedented data rate beyond 60 Tbit/s. Importantly, the high coherence we achieve reduces the coherent-related DSP consumption by 99.999% compared with the traditional III-V laser pump scheme. This work paves a way to realizing scalable, high-performance coherent integrated photonic systems, potentially benefiting numerous applications.

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the Born cross sections of $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2595)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ and $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ are measured for the first time at center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV. Non-zero cross sections are observed very close to the production threshold. The measured Born cross sections of $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ are about $2\sim3$ times greater than those of $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2595)^- + \rm{c.c.}$, thereby indicating that the exotic structure potentially exists in the excited charmed baryons. The Born cross sections are $15.6\pm3.1\pm0.9$ pb and $29.4\pm3.7\pm2.7$ pb for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2595)^- + \rm{c.c.}$, and are $43.4\pm4.0\pm4.1$ pb and $76.8\pm6.5\pm4.2$ pb for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- +\rm{c.c.}$ at $\sqrt s=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV, respectively. Based on the polar angle distributions of the $\barΛ_{c}(2625)^-$ and $Λ_{c}(2625)^+$, the form-factor ratios $\sqrt{|G_{E}|^2 + 3|G_{M}|^2}/|G_{C}|$ are determined for $e^+e^-\to Λ_{c}^+ \barΛ_{c}(2625)^- + \rm{c.c.}$ for the first time, which are $5.95\pm4.07\pm0.15$ and $0.94\pm0.32\pm0.02$ at $\sqrt s=4918.0$ and 4950.9 MeV, respectively. All of these first uncertainties are statistical and second systematic.

Consider a communication system in which a single antenna user equipment exchanges information with a multi-antenna base station via a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) in the presence of spatially correlated channels and electromagnetic interference (EMI). To exploit the attractive advantages of RIS technology, accurate configuration of its reflecting elements is crucial. In this paper, we use statistical knowledge of channels and EMI to optimize the RIS elements for i) accurate channel estimation and ii) reliable data transmission. In both cases, our goal is to determine the RIS coefficients that minimize the mean square error, resulting in the formulation of two non-convex problems that share the same structure. To solve these two problems, we present an alternating optimization approach that reliably converges to a locally optimal solution. The incorporation of the diagonally scaled steepest descent algorithm, derived from Newton's method, ensures fast convergence with manageable complexity. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method under various propagation conditions. Notably, it shows significant advantages over existing alternatives that depend on a sub-optimal configuration of the RIS and are derived on the basis of different criteria.

The field of computational pathology has witnessed remarkable progress in the development of both task-specific predictive models and task-agnostic self-supervised vision encoders. However, despite the explosive growth of generative artificial intelligence (AI), there has been limited study on building general purpose, multimodal AI assistants tailored to pathology. Here we present PathChat, a vision-language generalist AI assistant for human pathology using an in-house developed foundational vision encoder pretrained on 100 million histology images from over 100,000 patient cases and 1.18 million pathology image-caption pairs. The vision encoder is then combined with a pretrained large language model and the whole system is finetuned on over 250,000 diverse disease agnostic visual language instructions. We compare PathChat against several multimodal vision language AI assistants as well as GPT4V, which powers the commercially available multimodal general purpose AI assistant ChatGPT-4. When relevant clinical context is provided with the histology image, PathChat achieved a diagnostic accuracy of 87% on multiple-choice questions based on publicly available cases of diverse tissue origins and disease models. Additionally, using open-ended questions and human expert evaluation, we found that overall PathChat produced more accurate and pathologist-preferable responses to diverse queries related to pathology. As an interactive and general vision language AI assistant that can flexibly handle both visual and natural language inputs, PathChat can potentially find impactful applications in pathology education, research, and human-in-the-loop clinical decision making.

Identifying disease phenotypes from electronic health records (EHRs) is critical for numerous secondary uses. Manually encoding physician knowledge into rules is particularly challenging for rare diseases due to inadequate EHR coding, necessitating review of clinical notes. Large language models (LLMs) offer promise in text understanding but may not efficiently handle real-world clinical documentation. We propose a zero-shot LLM-based method enriched by retrieval-augmented generation and MapReduce, which pre-identifies disease-related text snippets to be used in parallel as queries for the LLM to establish diagnosis. We show that this method as applied to pulmonary hypertension (PH), a rare disease characterized by elevated arterial pressures in the lungs, significantly outperforms physician logic rules ($F_1$ score of 0.62 vs. 0.75). This method has the potential to enhance rare disease cohort identification, expanding the scope of robust clinical research and care gap identification.

Crater detection can provide valuable information for humans to explore the topography and understand the history of extraterrestrial planets. Due to the significantly varying scenario distributions, existing detection models trained on known labelled crater datasets are hardly effective when applied to new unlabelled planets. To address this issue, we propose a two-stage adaptive network (TAN) for semi-supervised cross-domain crater detection. Our network is built on the YOLOv5 detector, where a series of strategies are employed to enhance its cross-domain generalisation ability. In the first stage, we propose an attention-based scale-adaptive fusion (ASAF) strategy to handle objects with significant scale variances. Furthermore, we propose a smoothing hard example mining (SHEM) loss function to address the issue of overfitting on hard examples. In the second stage, we propose a sort-based pseudo-labelling fine-tuning (SPF) strategy for semi-supervised learning to mitigate the distributional differences between source and target domains. For both stages, we employ weak or strong image augmentation to suit different cross-domain tasks. Experimental results on benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed network can enhance domain adaptation ability for crater detection under varying scenario distributions.
