Einstein's Patents and Inventions
Abstract: Times magazine selected Albert Einstein, the German born Jewish Scientist as the person of the 20th century. Undoubtedly, 20th century was the age of science and Einstein's contributions in unraveling mysteries of nature was unparalleled. However, few are aware that Einstein was also a great inventor. He and his collaborators had patented a wide variety of inventions in several countries. After a… ▽ More

Abstract: In the Israel-Stewart's theory of dissipative hydrodynamics, we have analysed the STAR data on $φ$ meson production in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=200 GeV. From a simultaneous fit to $φ$ mesons multiplicity, mean $p_T$ and integrated $v_2$, we obtain a phenomenological estimate of QGP viscosity, $η/s =0.07 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.14$, the first error is due to the experimental uncertainty in STAR meas… ▽ More

Initial eccentricity and constituent quark number scaling of elliptic flow in ideal and viscous dynamics
Abstract: In the Israel-Stewart's theory of dissipative hydrodynamics, we study the scaling properties elliptic flow in Au+Au collisions. Initial energy density of the fluid was fixed to reproduce STAR data on $φ$ meson multiplicity in 0-5% Au+Au collisions, such that irrespective of fluid viscosity, entropy at the freeze-out is similar in ideal or in viscous evolution. Initial eccentricity or constituent… ▽ More

Hydrodynamical model for $J/ψ$ suppression and elliptic flow
Abstract: In a hydrodynamic model, we have studied $J/ψ$ suppression and elliptic flow in Au+Au collisions at RHIC energy $\sqrt{s}$=200 GeV. At the initial time, $J/ψ$'s are randomly distributed in the fluid. As the fluid evolve in time, the free streaming $J/ψ$'s are dissolved if the local fluid temperature exceeds a melting temperature $T_{J/ψ}$. Sequential melting of charmonium states ($χ_c$,… ▽ More

Equation of state dependence of Mach cone like structures in Au+Au collisions
Abstract: In jet quenching, a hard QCD parton, before fragmenting into a jet of hadrons, deposits a fraction of its energy in the medium. As the parton moves nearly with speed of light, much greater that the speed of sound of the medium, quenching jet can generate Mach shock wave. We have examined the possibility of Mach shock wave formation due to jet quenching. Assuming that the deposited energy quickly… ▽ More

Viscous hydrodynamics description of $φ$ meson production in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions
Abstract: In the Israel-Stewart's theory of 2nd order dissipative hydrodynamics, we have simulated $φ$ production in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s}_{NN}$=200 GeV. Evolution of QGP fluid with viscosity over the entropy ratio $η/s$=0.25, thermalised at $τ_i$=0.2 fm, with initial energy density $ε_i$=5.1 $GeV/fm^3$ explains the experimental data on $φ$ multiplicity, integrated $v_2$, mean $p_T$,… ▽ More

An estimate of QGP viscosity from STAR data on $φ$ mesons
Abstract: In the Israel-Stewart's theory of dissipative hydrodynamics, with a lattice based equation of state, where the confinement-deconfinement transition is a cross-over at $T_{co}$=196 MeV, we have analysed the STAR data on $φ$ meson production in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=200 GeV. Dissipative hydrodynamics and heavy ion collisions
Abstract: Space-time evolution and subsequent particle production from minimally viscous ($η/s$=0.08) QGP fluid is studied using the 2nd order Israel-Stewart's theory of dissipative relativistic fluid. Compared to ideal fluid, energy density or temperature evolves slowly in viscous dynamics. Particle yield at high $p_T$ is increased. Elliptic flow on the other hand decreases in viscous dynamics. Minimally… ▽ More

Sequential melting of charmonium states in an expanding Quark Gluon Plasma and $J/ψ$ suppression at RHIC and LHC energy collisions
Abstract: We have developed a hydrodynamic model to study sequential melting of charmonium states in an expanding QGP medium. According to the initial fluid temperature profile, $J/ψ$'s are randomly distributed in the transverse plane. As the fluid evolve in time, the free streaming $J/ψ$'s are suppressed if the local fluid temperature exceed a critical temperature. PHENIX data on the centrality dependenc… ▽ More
