Y Cam is classified as one of the oscillating Eclipsing Algol (oEA) systems, which feature a $δ$ Scuti-type pulsating component alongside mass transfer phenomena. oEA systems are invaluable for probing the evolutionary processes and internal structures of binary components offering insights through their binary variations and oscillating. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive investigation of Y Cam utilizing high-quality photometric TESS data, and high-resolution ELODIE spectra. Through our analysis, we examined the radial velocity variation, performed binary modeling, and calculated the effective temperature values of binary components. The fundamental stellar parameters, such as mass and radius, were determined with an accuracy of $\sim$ $2-6$ %. Furthermore, we examined the orbital period variation to assess the amount of mass transfer using the available minima times of the system and three new minima times obtained from TESS light curves. Analyzing the pulsation structure of the system with the TESS data revealed the dominant pulsation period and amplitude of the pulsating component to be 0.066 d and 4.65 mmag, respectively. Notably, we observed frequency modulations with the orbital period's frequency, along with variations in the amplitude of the highest amplitude frequency across different orbital phases. Remarkably, the amplitude reaches its peak at phases 0.5 and 1. These findings indicate a candidate of a tidally tilted pulsator. Consequently, we investigated the evolutionary status of the binary components using MESA binary evolution models, determining the age of the system to be 3.28 $\pm$ 0.09 Gyr.

Despite known differences between reading and listening in the brain, recent work has shown that text-based language models predict both text-evoked and speech-evoked brain activity to an impressive degree. This poses the question of what types of information language models truly predict in the brain. We investigate this question via a direct approach, in which we systematically remove specific low-level stimulus features (textual, speech, and visual) from language model representations to assess their impact on alignment with fMRI brain recordings during reading and listening. Comparing these findings with speech-based language models reveals starkly different effects of low-level features on brain alignment. While text-based models show reduced alignment in early sensory regions post-removal, they retain significant predictive power in late language regions. In contrast, speech-based models maintain strong alignment in early auditory regions even after feature removal but lose all predictive power in late language regions. These results suggest that speech-based models provide insights into additional information processed by early auditory regions, but caution is needed when using them to model processing in late language regions. We make our code publicly available. [https://github.com/subbareddy248/speech-llm-brain]

The presence of pulsating stars in eclipsing binary systems (EBs) makes these objects significant since they allow us to investigate the stellar interior structure and evolution. Different types of pulsating stars could be found in EBs such as Delta Scuti variables. Delta Scuti stars in EBs have been known for decades and the increasing number of such systems is important for understanding pulsational structure. Hence, in this study, a research was carried out on the southern TESS field to discover new Delta Scuti stars in EBs. We produced an algorithm to search for detached and semi-detached EBs considering three steps; the orbital period (P$_{orb}$)'s harmonics in the Fourier spectrum, skewness of the light curves, and classification of \textsc{UPSILON} program. If two of these steps classify a system as an EB, the algorithm also identifies it as an EB. The TESS pixel files of targets were also analyzed to see whether the fluxes are contaminated by other systems. No contamination was found. We researched the existence of pulsation through EBs with a visual inspection. To confirm Delta Scuti-type oscillations, the binary variation was removed from the light curve, and residuals were analyzed. Consequently, we identified 42 Delta Scuti candidates in EBs. The P$_{orb}$, $L$, and M$_{V}$ of systems were calculated. Their positions on the H-R diagram and the known orbital-pulsation period relationship were analyzed. We also examined our targets to find if any of them show frequency modulation with the orbital period and discovered one candidate of tidally tilted pulsators.

We propose Dual Cross-Attention (DCA), a simple yet effective attention module that is able to enhance skip-connections in U-Net-based architectures for medical image segmentation. DCA addresses the semantic gap between encoder and decoder features by sequentially capturing channel and spatial dependencies across multi-scale encoder features. First, the Channel Cross-Attention (CCA) extracts global channel-wise dependencies by utilizing cross-attention across channel tokens of multi-scale encoder features. Then, the Spatial Cross-Attention (SCA) module performs cross-attention to capture spatial dependencies across spatial tokens. Finally, these fine-grained encoder features are up-sampled and connected to their corresponding decoder parts to form the skip-connection scheme. Our proposed DCA module can be integrated into any encoder-decoder architecture with skip-connections such as U-Net and its variants. We test our DCA module by integrating it into six U-Net-based architectures such as U-Net, V-Net, R2Unet, ResUnet++, DoubleUnet and MultiResUnet. Our DCA module shows Dice Score improvements up to 2.05% on GlaS, 2.74% on MoNuSeg, 1.37% on CVC-ClinicDB, 1.12% on Kvasir-Seg and 1.44% on Synapse datasets. Broadspread use of medical imaging devices with digital storage has paved the way for curation of substantial data repositories. Fast access to image samples with similar appearance to suspected cases can help establish a consulting system for healthcare professionals, and improve diagnostic procedures while minimizing processing delays. However, manual querying of large data repositories is labor intensive. Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) offers an automated solution based on dense embedding vectors that represent image features to allow quantitative similarity assessments. Triplet learning has emerged as a powerful approach to recover embeddings in CBIR, albeit traditional loss functions ignore the dynamic relationship between opponent image classes. Here, we introduce a triplet-learning method for automated querying of medical image repositories based on a novel Opponent Class Adaptive Margin (OCAM) loss. OCAM uses a variable margin value that is updated continually during the course of training to maintain optimally discriminative representations. CBIR performance of OCAM is compared against state-of-the-art loss functions for representational learning on three public databases (gastrointestinal disease, skin lesion, lung disease). Comprehensive experiments in each application domain demonstrate the superior performance of OCAM against baselines.

We study a discrete-in-time data-assimilation algorithm based on nudging through a time-delayed feedback control in which the observational measurements have been contaminated by a Gaussian noise process. In the context of the two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations we prove the expected value of the square-error between the approximating solution and the reference solution over time is proportional to the variance of the noise up to a logarithmic correction. The qualitative behavior and physical relevance of our analysis is further illustrated by numerical simulation.

Various estimates are established for the solution's gradient, in the Lebesgue norms of any order, in terms of the initial and boundary data. We describe a spectrally-filtered discrete-in-time downscaling data assimilation algorithm and prove, in the context of the two-dimensional Navier--Stokes equations, that this algorithm works for a general class of interpolants, such as those based on local spatial averages as well as point measurements of the velocity. Our algorithm is based on the classical technique of inserting new observational data directly into the dynamical model as it is being evolved over time, rather than nudging, and extends previous results in which the observations were defined directly in terms of an orthogonal projection onto the large-scale (lower) Fourier modes. In particular, our analysis does not require the interpolant to be represented by an orthogonal projection, but requires only the interpolant to satisfy a natural approximation of the identity.

To study complex flows when all three regimes may be present in different portions of a same domain, we use a single equation of motion to unify them. Several scenarios and models are then considered for slightly compressible fluids. A nonlinear parabolic equation for the pressure is derived, which is degenerate when the pressure gradient is either small or large. We estimate the pressure and its gradient for all time in terms of initial and boundary data. We also obtain their particular bounds for large time which depend on the asymptotic behavior of the boundary data but not on the initial one. Moreover, the continuous dependence of the solutions on initial and boundary data, and the structural stability for the equation are established.

This article continues our previous study of generalized Forchheimer flows in heterogeneous porous media. Such flows are used to account for deviations from Darcy's law. In heterogeneous media, the derived nonlinear partial differential equation for the pressure can be singular and degenerate in the spatial variables, in addition to being degenerate for large pressure gradient. Here we obtain the estimates for the $L^\infty$-norms of the pressure and its time derivative in terms of the initial and the time-dependent boundary data. They are established by implementing De Giorgi's iteration in the context of weighted norms with the weights specifically defined by the Forchheimer equation's coefficient functions. With these weights, we prove suitable weighted parabolic Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities and use them to facilitate the iteration. Moreover, local in time $L^\infty$-bounds are combined with uniform Gronwall-type energy inequalities to obtain long-time $L^\infty$-estimates.
