The Extended Generalized Pareto Distribution (EGPD) (Naveau et al. 2016) is a family of distribution that has been introduced to model the full range of a positive random variable but with the lower and the upper tails distributed according to the peaks-over-threshold methodology. The aim of this article is to augment the scope of application of EGPD allowing the analyst to incorporate the effect of covariates on the model. In particular we introduce a specification where the parameters of EGPD can be modeled as additive functions of the covariates, e.g. space or time. As a related product we provide an add-on code written in R that it is flexible enough to implement the EGPD in a generic way, allowing to introduce new parametric forms. We show the potential of our add-on on the modeling of hourly rainfalls over the North-West region of France and discuss modeling strategies.

This note will be part of Chapter 6.5 of the ALICE Physics Performance Report (PPR), "ALICE Physics: Charm and Beauty", where the capabilities of ALICE for the detection of open heavy flavour particles will be described.
We define here the present ALICE baseline for what concerns the heavy flavour production cross sections at LHC and the kinematical distributions of the heavy quark pairs. We start by qualitatively assessing the Bjorken x regimes accessible with charm and beauty measurements at LHC with ALICE (Section 1). In Section 2 we report the most recent results (and the uncertainties) of the next-to-leading order (NLO) pQCD calculations for the cross sections in pp collisions at LHC energies. These results are extrapolated to Pb-Pb collisions in Section 3.1 and to p-Pb collisions in Section 3.2, taking into account nuclear shadowing and parton intrinsic transverse momentum broadening.Heavy quark kinematics as given by the NLO pQCD calculation are reported in Section 4. We tuned the PYTHIA event generator in order to reproduce such results for what concerns the c and b quarks transverse momentum distributions (Section 5). Finally, we report the yields and transverse momentum distributions for D and B mesons (Section 6).

This report gives benchmark heavy quark and quarkonium cross sections for $pp$ and $pA$ collisions at the LHC against which the $AA$ rates can be compared in the study of the quark-gluon plasma. We present the results from the heavy quarks and quarkonia working group. This report gives benchmark heavy quark and quarkonium cross sections for $pp$ and $pA$ collisions at the LHC against which the $AA$ rates can be compared in the study of the quark-gluon plasma. We also provide an assessment of the theoretical uncertainties in these benchmarks. We then discuss some of the cold matter effects on quarkonia production, including nuclear absorption, scattering by produced hadrons, and energy loss in the medium. Hot matter effects that could reduce the observed quarkonium rates such as color screening and thermal activation are then discussed. Possible quarkonium enhancement through coalescence of uncorrelated heavy quarks and antiquarks is also described. Finally, we discuss the capabilities of the LHC detectors to measure heavy quarks and quarkonia as well as the Monte Carlo generators used in the data analysis.
