A Cuntz--Krieger Uniqueness theorem for C*-algebras of relative generalized Boolean dynamical systems
Abstract: We prove a version of the Cuntz--Krieger Uniqueness Theorem for $C^*$-algebras of arbitrary relative generalized Boolean dynamical systems. We then describe properties of a $C^*$-algebra of a relative generalized Boolean dynamical system when the underlying Boolean dynamical system satisfies Condition (K). Ideal structure of C*-algebras of commuting local homeomorphisms
Abstract: We determine the primitive ideal space and hence the ideal lattice of a large class of separable groupoid C*-algebras that includes all 2-graph C*-algebras. Some results regarding the ideal structure of C*-algebras of étale groupoids
Abstract: We prove a sandwiching lemma for inner-exact locally compact Hausdorff étale groupoids. Our lemma says that every ideal of the reduced $C^*$-algebra of such a groupoid is sandwiched between the ideals associated to two uniquely defined open invariant subsets of the unit space. We obtain a bijection between ideals of the reduced $C^*$-algebra, and triples consisting of two nested open invariant set… ▽ More

Shift equivalences through the lens of Cuntz-Krieger algebras

On the Exel crossed product of topological covering maps
Abstract: For dynamical systems defined by a covering map of a compact Hausdorff space and the corresponding transfer operator, the associated crossed product $C^*$-algebras $\cros$ introduced by Exel and Vershik are considered. An important property for homeomorphism dynamical systems is topological freeness. It can be extended in a natural way to in general non-invertible dynamical systems generated by… ▽ More

Algebraic Cuntz-Pimsner rings
Abstract: From a system consisting of a right non-degenerate ring $R$, a pair of $R$-bimodules $Q$ and $P$ and an $R$-bimodule homomorphism $ψ:P\otimes Q\longrightarrow R$ we construct a $\Z$-graded ring $\mathcal{T}_{(P,Q,ψ)}$ called the Toeplitz ring and (for certain systems) a $\Z$-graded quotient $\mathcal{O}_{(P,Q,ψ)}$ of $\mathcal{T}_{(P,Q,ψ)}$ called the Cuntz-Pimsner ring. These rings are the alge… ▽ More

C*-algebras associated to shift spaces
Abstract: These are some notes I wrote for the summer school "Symbolic dynamics and homeomorphisms of the Cantor set" at the University of Copenhagen, 23 - 27 June 2008. The notes contain the definition of the C*-algebra associated to a shift space and some basic facts about these. The notes furthermore contain a proof of the fact that the C*-algebra associated to a shift space is a one-sided conjugacy… ▽ More

Symbolic Dynamics, Partial Dynamical Systems, Boolean Algebras and C*-algebras Generated by Partial Isometries
Abstract: We associate to each discrete partial dynamical system a universal C*-algebra generated by partial isometries satisfying relations given by a Boolean algebra connected to the discrete partial dynamical system in question. We show that for symbolic dynamical systems like one-sided and two-sided shift spaces and topological Markov chains with an arbitrary state space the C*-algebras usually associ… ▽ More

C*-crossed products and shift spaces
Abstract: In this article, we use Exel's construction to associate a C*-algebra to every shift space. We show that it has the C*-algebra defined in [Carlsen and Matsumoto: Some remarks on the C*-algebras associated with subshifts] as a quotient, and possesses properties indicating that it can be thought of as the universal C*-algebra associated to a shift space. We also consider its representations, relat… ▽ More

Cuntz-Pimsner C*-algebras associated with subshifts
Abstract: By using C*-correspondences and Cuntz-Pimsner algebras, we associate to every subshift (also called a shift space) $X$ a C*-algebra $O_X$, which is a generalization of the Cuntz-Krieger algebras. We show that $O_X$ is the universal C*-algebra generated by partial isometries satisfying relations given by $X$. We also show that $O_X$ is a one-sided conjugacy invariant of $X$.

On C*-algebras Associated with Sofic Shifts
Abstract: We show that for a sofic shift Lambda, Matsumoto's C*-algebra O_Lambda is isomorphic to the Cuntz-Krieger algebra of the left Krieger cover graph of Lambda.
