Ptychography is an imaging technique that captures multiple overlap** snapshots of a sample, illuminated coherently by a moving localized probe. The image recovery from ptychographic data is generally achieved via an iterative algorithm that solves a nonlinear phase retrieval problem derived from measured diffraction patterns. However, these iterative approaches have high computational cost. In this paper, we introduce PtychoDV, a novel deep model-based network designed for efficient, high-quality ptychographic image reconstruction. PtychoDV comprises a vision transformer that generates an initial image from the set of raw measurements, taking into consideration their mutual correlations. This is followed by a deep unrolling network that refines the initial image using learnable convolutional priors and the ptychography measurement model. Experimental results on simulated data demonstrate that PtychoDV is capable of outperforming existing deep learning methods for this problem, and significantly reduces computational cost compared to iterative methodologies, while maintaining competitive performance.

Weights initialization in deep neural networks have a strong impact on the speed of converge of the learning map. Recent studies have shown that in the case of random initializations, a chaos/order phase transition occur in the space of variances of random weights and biases. Experiments then had shown that large improvements can be made, in terms of the training speed, if a neural network is initialized on values along the critical line of such phase transition. In this contribution, we show evidence that the scaling property exhibited by physical systems at criticality, is also present in untrained feedforward networks with random weights initialization at the critical line. Additionally, we suggest an additional data-resizing symmetry, which is directly inherited from the scaling symmetry at criticality.

We present a novel AI-assisted method for decomposing (segmenting) planar CAD (computer-aided design) models into well shaped rectangular blocks as a proof-of-principle of a general decomposition method applicable to complex 2D and 3D CAD models. The decomposed blocks are required for generating good quality meshes (tilings of quadrilaterals or hexahedra) suitable for numerical simulations of physical systems governed by conservation laws. The problem of hexahedral mesh generation of general CAD models has vexed researchers for over 3 decades and analysts often spend more than 50% of the design-analysis cycle time decomposing complex models into simpler parts meshable by existing techniques. Our method uses reinforcement learning to train an agent to perform a series of optimal cuts on the CAD model that result in a good quality block decomposition. We show that the agent quickly learns an effective strategy for picking the location and direction of the cuts and maximizing its rewards as opposed to making random cuts. This paper is the first successful demonstration of an agent autonomously learning how to perform this block decomposition task effectively thereby holding the promise of a viable method to automate this challenging process.

In this work we apply the lightcone bootstrap to a four-point function of scalars in two-dimensional conformal field theory. We include the entire Virasoro symmetry and consider non-rational theories with a gap in the spectrum from the vacuum and no conserved currents. For those theories, we compute the large dimension limit (h/c>>1) of the OPE spectral decomposition of the Virasoro vacuum. We then propose a kernel ansatz that generalizes the spectral decomposition beyond h/c>>1. Finally, we estimate the corrections to the OPE spectral densities from the inclusion of the lightest operator in the spectrum.

General Relativity predicts that the passage of matter or radiation from an asymmetrically-emitting source should cause a permanent change in the local space-time metric. This phenomenon, called the \emph{gravitational memory effect}, has never been observed, however supernova neutrinos have long been considered a promising avenue for its detection in the future. With the advent of deci-Hertz gravitational wave interferometers, observing the supernova neutrino memory will be possible, with important implications for multimessenger astronomy and for tests of gravity. In this work, we develop a phenomenological (analytical) toy model for the supernova neutrino memory effect, which is overall consistent with the results of numerical simulations. This description is then generalized to several case studies of interest. We find that, for a galactic supernova, the dimensionless strain, $h(t)$, is of order $\sim 10^{-22} - 10^{-21}$, and develops over a typical time scale that varies between $\sim 0.1 - 10$ s, depending on the time-evolution of the anisotropy of the neutrino emission. The characteristic strain, $h_c(f)$, has a maximum at a frequency $f_{max} \sim {\mathcal O}(10^{-1}) - {\mathcal O}(1)$ Hz. The detailed features of the time- and frequency-structure of the memory strain will inform us of the matter dynamics near the collapsed core, and allow to distinguish between different stellar collapse scenarios. Next generation gravitational wave detectors like DECIGO and BBO will be sensitive to the neutrino memory effect for supernovae at typical galactic distances and beyond; with Ultimate DECIGO exceeding a detectability distance of 10 Mpc.

We announce the discovery of two planets orbiting the M dwarfs GJ 251 ($0.360\pm0.015$ M$_\odot$) and HD 238090 ($0.578\pm0.021$ M$_\odot$) based on CARMENES radial velocity (RV) data. In addition, we independently confirm with CARMENES data the existence of Lalande 21185 b, a planet that has recently been discovered with the SOPHIE spectrograph. All three planets belong to the class of warm or temperate super-Earths and share similar properties. The orbital periods are 14.24 d, 13.67 d, and 12.95 d and the minimum masses are $4.0\pm0.4$ $M_\oplus$, $6.9\pm0.9$ $M_\oplus$, and $2.7\pm0.3$ $M_\oplus$ for GJ 251 b, HD 238090 b, and Lalande 21185 b, respectively. Based on the orbital and stellar properties, we estimate equilibrium temperatures of $351.0\pm1.4$ K for GJ 251 b, $469.6\pm2.6$ K for HD 238090 b, and $370.1\pm6.8$ K for Lalande 21185 b. For the latter we resolve the daily aliases that were present in the SOPHIE data and that hindered an unambiguous determination of the orbital period. We find no significant signals in any of our spectral activity indicators at the planetary periods. The RV observations were accompanied by contemporaneous photometric observations. We derive stellar rotation periods of $122.1\pm2.2$ d and $96.7\pm3.7$ d for GJ 251 and HD 238090, respectively. The RV data of all three stars exhibit significant signals at the rotational period or its first harmonic. For GJ 251 and Lalande 21185, we also find long-period signals around 600 d, and 2900 d, respectively, which we tentatively attribute to long-term magnetic cycles. We apply a Bayesian approach to carefully model the Keplerian signals simultaneously with the stellar activity using Gaussian process regression models and extensively search for additional significant planetary signals hidden behind the stellar activity.

We examine a one-dimensional nonlinear (Kerr) waveguide array which contains a single "void" waveguide where the nonlinearity is identically zero.
We uncover a new family of nonlinear localized modes centered at or near the void, and their stability properties. Unlike a usual impurity problem, here the void acts like a repulsive impurity causing the center of the simplest mode to lie to the side of the void's position. We also compute the stability of extended nonlinear modes showing significant differences from the usual homogeneous nonlinear array. The transmission of a nonlinear pulse across the void shows three main regimes, transmission, reflection and trap** at the void's position, and we identify a critical momentum for the pulse below (above) where the pulse gets reflected (transmitted), or trapped indefinitely at the void's position. For relatively wide pulses, we observe a steep increase from a regime of no transmission to a regime of high transmission, as the amplitude of the soliton increases beyond a critical wavevector value. Finally, we consider the transmission of an extended nonlinear wave across the void impurity numerically, finding a rather complex structure of the transmission as a function of wavevector, with the creation of more and more transmission gaps as nonlinearity increases. The overall transmittance decreases and disappears eventually, where the boundaries separating passing from non-passing regions are complex and fractal-like.

From it we can extract flat space scattering processes localized in AdS that ultimate should be related to corresponding observables on the conformal field theory at the boundary. In this paper we use this interesting property to propose a map from flat space s-matrix to conformal correlation functions and try it on perturbative gravitational scattering. In particular, we show that the eikonal limit of gravitation scattering maps to a correlation function of the expected form at the bulk point singularity. We also compute the inverse map recovering a previous proposal in the literature.

By using the inversion formula of Caron-Huot and the integral (Mellin) representation of conformal blocks, we show that the contribution from individual exchanges to anomalous dimensions and corrections to the OPE coefficients for "double-twist" operators $[\mathcal{O}_1\mathcal{O}_2]_{Δ,J}$ in $s-$channel can be written at finite conformal spin in terms of generalized Wilson polynomials. This approach is democratic {\it wrt} space-time dimensions, thus generalizing the earlier findings to cases where closed form expressions of the conformal blocks are not available.

We compute anomalous dimensions of higher spin operators in Conformal Field Theory at arbitrary space-time dimension by using the OPE inversion formula of \cite{Caron-Huot:2017vep}, both from the position space representation as well as from the integral (viz. Mellin) representation of the conformal blocks. The Mellin space is advantageous over the position space not only in allowing to write expressions agnostic to the space-time dimension, but also in that it replaces tedious recursion relations in terms of simple sums which are easy to perform. We evaluate the contributions of scalar and spin exchanges in the $t-$channel exactly, in terms of higher order Hypergeometric functions. These relate to a particular exchange of conformal spin $β=Δ+J$ in the $s-$channel through the inversion formula. Our exact results reproduce the special cases for large spin anomalous dimension and OPE coefficients obtained previously in the literature.

The full quark-gluon vertex is a crucial ingredient for the dynamical generation of a constituent quark mass from the standard quark gap equation, and its non-transverse part may be determined exactly from the nonlinear Slavnov-Taylor identity that it satisfies. The resulting expression involves not only the quark propagator, but also the ghost dressing function and the quark-ghost kernel, and constitutes the non-abelian extension of the so-called "Ball-Chiu vertex", known from QED. In the present work we carry out a detailed study of the impact of this vertex on the gap equation and the quark masses generated from it, putting particular emphasis on the contributions directly related with the ghost sector of the theory, and especially the quark-ghost kernel. In particular, we set up and solve the coupled system of six equations that determine the four form factors of the latter kernel and the two typical Dirac structures composing the quark propagator. Due to the incomplete implementation of the multiplicative renormalizability at the level of the gap equation, the correct anomalous dimension of the quark mass is recovered through the inclusion of a certain function, whose ultraviolet behavior is fixed, but its infrared completion is unknown; three particular Ansätze for this function are considered, and their effect on the quark mass and the pion decay constant is explored. The main results of this study indicate that the numerical impact of the quark-ghost kernel is considerable; the transition from a tree-level kernel to the one computed here leads to a $20\%$ increase in the value of the quark mass at the origin. Particularly interesting is the contribution of the fourth Ball-Chiu form factor, which, contrary to the abelian case, is nonvanishing, and accounts for $10\%$ of the total constituent quark mass.

The simulations consider a single line of identical cars, equally spaced, and with no obstacles after the signal crossing line. The flow dependence on vehicle's characteristics, as it's length and sensitivity, are studied. Also, the influence of the attitude of drivers (careful or aggressive) has been used as parameters on the present work. It was found that the optimal separation between cars, defined as the distance that allows the system to carry the higher number of vehicles through the signal crossing line, is independent of the sensitivity of the system, but it does depend on the aggressive or careful characteristic of the drivers. The optimal separation is also found to be proportional to the length of the cars for a system of identical vehicles.

Such configuration arises naturally if we consider the 4-dimensional S-matrix as a compactified massless 5-dimensional theory. This identification allows us to rewrite the massless S-matrix in the CHY formulation, where the factorization singularities are re-interpreted as factorization limits of a Riemann sphere. Using this, we can see that vanishing Regge behaviour occurs at small t'Hooft limit.

We determine the non-Abelian version of the four longitudinal form factors of the quark-gluon vertex, using exact expressions derived from the Slavnov-Taylor identity that this vertex satisfies. In addition to the quark and ghost propagators, a key ingredient of the present approach is the quark-ghost scattering kernel, which is computed within the one-loop dressed approximation. The vertex form factors obtained from this procedure are evaluated for arbitrary Euclidean momenta, and display features not captured by the well-known Ball-Chiu vertex, deduced from the Abelian (ghost-free) Ward identity. The potential phenomenological impact of these results is evaluated through the study of special renormalization-point-independent combinations, which quantify the strength of the interaction kernels appearing in the standard quark gap and Bethe-Salpeter equations.

Recently, we proposed a new approach using a punctured Elliptic curve in the CHY framework in order to compute one-loop scattering amplitudes. In this note, we further develop this approach by introducing a set of connectors, which become the main ingredient to build integrands on $\mathfrak{M}_{1,n}$, the moduli space of n-punctured Elliptic curves. As a particular application, we study the $Φ^3$ bi-adjoint scalar theory. We propose a set of rules to construct integrands on $\mathfrak{M}_{1,n}$ from $Φ^ 3$ integrands on $\mathfrak{M}_{0,n}$, the moduli space of n-punctured spheres. We illustrate these rules by computing a variety of $Φ^3$ one-loop Feynman diagrams. Conversely, we also provide another set of rules to compute the corresponding CHY-integrand on $\mathfrak{M}_{1,n}$ by starting instead from a given $Φ^ 3$ one-loop Feynman diagram. In addition, our results can easily be extended to higher loops.

The evaluation of generic Cachazo-He-Yuan(CHY)-integrands is a big challenge and efficient computational methods are in demand for practical evaluation. In this paper, we propose a systematic decomposition algorithm by using cross-ratio identities, which provides an analytic and easy to implement method for the evaluation of any CHY-integrand. This algorithm aims to decompose a given CHY-integrand containing higher-order poles as a linear combination of CHY-integrands with only simple poles in a finite number of steps, which ultimately can be trivially evaluated by integration rules of simple poles. To make the method even more efficient for CHY-integrands with large number of particles and complicated higher-order pole structures, we combine the $Λ$-algorithm and the cross-ratio identities, and as a by-product it provides us a way to deal with CHY-integrands where the $Λ$-algorithm was not applicable in its original formulation.

Recently the CHY approach has been extended to one loop level using elliptic functions and modular forms over a Jacobian variety. Due to the difficulty in manipulating these kind of functions, we propose an alternative prescription that is totally algebraic. This new proposal is based on an elliptic algebraic curve embedded in a $\mathbb{C}P^2$ space. We show that for the simplest integrand, namely the ${\rm n-gon}$, our proposal indeed reproduces the expected result. By using the recently formulated $Λ-$algorithm, we found a novel recurrence relation expansion in terms of tree level off-shell amplitudes. Our results connect nicely with recent results on the one-loop formulation of the scattering equations. In addition, this new proposal can be easily stretched out to hyperelliptic curves in order to compute higher genus.

Abstract:
In this short note we suggest that the singular behavior of large gauge transformations preserving the vacuum at null infinity in Yang-Mills theory implies monopoles into the bulk, as well as that the inclusion of a theta term induces a decoupling between holomorphic and anti-holomorphic currents associated to those large gauge transformations

We study the classical solutions of the model, in particular vortex solutions.

We constrain the discussion to a few examples sharing some similarities.

Authors:

Abstract:
We propose a state from the two-dimensional conformal field theory on the orbifold $(T^4)^N/S(N)$ as a dual description for a pulsating string moving in $AdS_3$. We show that, up to first order in the deforming parameter, the energy in both descriptions has the same dependence on the mode number, but with a non-trivial function of the coupling.

We discuss the relation between correlation functions of twist-two large spin operators and expectation values of Wilson loops along light-like trajectories. After presenting some heuristic field theoretical arguments suggesting this relation, we compute the divergent part of the correlator in the limit of large 't Hooft coupling and large spins, using a semi-classical worldsheet which asymptotically looks like a GKP rotating string. We show this diverges as expected from the expectation value of a null Wilson loop, namely, as $(\ln{μ^{-2}})^ 2$, $μ$ being a cut-off of the theory.

Organic bulk-heterojunctions (BHJ) and solar cells containing the trimetallic nitride endohedral fullerene 1-[3-(2-ethyl)hexoxy carbonyl]propyl-1-phenyl-Lu3N@C80 (Lu3N@C80-PCBEH) show an open circuit voltage (VOC) 0.3 V higher than similar devices with [6,6]-phenyl-C[61]-butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM). To fully exploit the potential of this acceptor molecule with respect to the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of solar cells, the short circuit current (JSC) should be improved to become competitive with the state of the art solar cells. Here, we address factors influencing the JSC in blends containing the high voltage absorber Lu3N@C80-PCBEH in view of both photogeneration but also transport and extraction of charge carriers. We apply optical, charge carrier extraction, morphology, and spin-sensitive techniques. In blends containing Lu3N@C80-PCBEH, we found 2 times weaker photoluminescence quenching, remainders of interchain excitons, and, most remarkably, triplet excitons formed on the polymer chain, which were absent in the reference P3HT:PC61BM blends. We show that electron back transfer to the triplet state along with the lower exciton dissociation yield due to intramolecular charge transfer in Lu3N@C80-PCBEH are responsible for the reduced photocurrent.

The computation is done for small values of the spacetime cross-ratio where global SL(2) and SU(2) descendants may be neglected in the intermediate channel. Ignoring also current algebra descendants, we find that in the non-extremal case the integrated worldsheet correlators factorize into spacetime three-point functions, which is non-trivial due to the integration over the moduli space. We then restrict to the extremal case and compare our results with the four-point correlators recently computed in the dual boundary theory. We also discuss a particular non-extremal correlator involving two chiral and two anti-chiral operators.

We present a derivation of the vertex operators creating spectral flow images of chiral primary states previously proposed in the literature. We compute spectral flow conserving three-point functions involving these operators on the sphere. Using the bulk-to-boundary dictionary, we compare the results with the corresponding correlators in the dual conformal field theory, the symmetric product orbifold of T(4). In the limit of small string coupling, agreement is found in all the cases considered.
