The stability of a dark matter detector on the timescale of a few years is a key requirement due to the large exposure needed to achieve a competitive sensitivity. It is especially crucial to enable the detector to potentially detect any annual event rate modulation, an expected dark matter signature. In this work, we present the performance history of the DarkSide-50 dual-phase argon time projection chamber over its almost three-year low-radioactivity argon run. In particular, we focus on the electroluminescence signal that enables sensitivity to sub-keV energy depositions. The stability of the electroluminescence yield is found to be better than 0.5%. Finally, we show the temporal evolution of the observed event rate around the sub-keV region being consistent to the background prediction.

Dark matter induced event rate in an Earth-based detector is predicted to show an annual modulation as a result of the Earth's orbital motion around the Sun. We searched for this modulation signature using the ionization signal of the DarkSide-50 liquid argon time projection chamber. No significant signature compatible with dark matter is observed in the electron recoil equivalent energy range above $40~{\rm eV_{ee}}$, the lowest threshold ever achieved in such a search.

We present a novel approach for the search of dark matter in the DarkSide-50 experiment, relying on Bayesian Networks. This method incorporates the detector response model into the likelihood function, explicitly maintaining the connection with the quantity of interest. No assumptions about the linearity of the problem or the shape of the probability distribution functions are required, and there is no need to morph signal and background spectra as a function of nuisance parameters. By expressing the problem in terms of Bayesian Networks, we have developed an inference algorithm based on a Markov Chain Monte Carlo to calculate the posterior probability. A clever description of the detector response model in terms of parametric matrices allows us to study the impact of systematic variations of any parameter on the final results. Our approach not only provides the desired information on the parameter of interest, but also potential constraints on the response model. Our results are consistent with recent published analyses and further refine the parameters of the detector response model.

Neutrino masses are addressed within the usual type I seesaw mechanism. A vector-like fermion acts as dark matter and it interacts with Standard Model particles via the kinetic and mass mixings between the neutral gauge bosons. We compute the relevant observables such as the dark matter relic density and spin-independent scattering cross section to outline the region of parameter space that obeys current and projected limits from collider and direct detection experiments via thermal and non-thermal dark matter production.

Direct dark matter detection signatures rise from dark matter-nucleus scatterings at bubble chamber and liquid xenon detectors, and from the flux of neutrinos from the Sun measured by the IceCube experiment, which is governed by the spin-dependent dark matter-nucleus scattering. On the collider side, LHC searches for dilepton and mono-jet + missing energy signals play an important role. The relic density and perturbativity requirements are also addressed. By exploiting the dark matter complementarity we outline the region of parameter space where one can successfully have a Majorana dark matter particle in light of current and planned experimental sensitivities.

Several extensions of the Standard Model contain right-handed (sterile) neutrinos in the GeV-TeV mass range. Due to their mixing with the active neutrinos, they may give rise to novel effects in cosmology, neutrino physics, and collider searches. In addition, right-handed neutrinos can also appear as final states from dark matter annihilations, with important implications for dark matter indirect detection searches. In this paper, we use current data from the Fermi Large Area Telescope (6-year observation of dwarf spheroidal galaxies) and H.E.S.S. (10-year observation of the Galactic center) to constrain the annihilation of dark matter into right-handed neutrinos. We consider right-handed neutrino with masses between 10 GeV and 1 TeV, including both two-body and three-body decays, to derive bounds on the dark matter annihilation rate, $\langle σv\rangle$, as a function of the dark matter mass. Our results show, in particular, that the thermal dark matter annihilation cross section, $3\times 10^{-26}\, {\rm cm^3 s^{-1}} $, into right-handed neutrinos is excluded for dark matter masses smaller than $200$ GeV.

If keV-scale sterile neutrinos scatter inelastically with bound electrons of the target material, an electron recoil signal is generated. This can be used to set limits on the sterile neutrino mass and its mixing with the active sector. While not competitive with astrophysical constraints from X-ray data, the constraints are the first direct laboratory bounds on sterile neutrino warm dark matter, and will be in some parts of parameter space the strongest limits on keV-scale neutrinos.

A small breaking of this $Z_3$ symmetry can explain the $2.4\,σ$ excess of Higgs decay final states with a $μτ$ topology reported recently by CMS if the new neutral scalars are light. The model also predicts sizable rates for lepton flavor violating Higgs decays in the $eτ$ and $e μ$ channels because of the unifying $S_4$ flavor symmetry.

We propose a model based on the $SU(5)$ grand unification with an extra $A_{4}\otimes Z_{2}\otimes Z_{2}^{\prime }\otimes Z_{2}^{\prime \prime}\otimes U\left( 1\right) _{f}$ flavor symmetry, which accounts for the pattern of the SM fermion masses and mixings. The observed hierarchy of charged fermion masses and quark mixing matrix elements arises from a generalized Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism triggered by a scalar $\mathbf{24}$ representation of $SU(5)$ charged under the global $U(1)_{f}$ and acquiring a VEV at the GUT scale. The light neutrino masses are generated via a radiative seesaw mechanism with a single heavy Majorana neutrino and neutral scalars running in the loops. The model predictions for both quark and lepton sectors are in good agreement with the experimental data. The model predicts an effective Majorana neutrino mass, relevant for neutrinoless double beta decay, with values $m_{ββ}=$ 4 and 50 meV for the normal and the inverted neutrino spectrum, respectively. The model also features a suppression of CP violation in neutrino oscillations, a low scale for the heavy Majorana neutrino (few TeV) and, due to the unbroken $Z_{2}$ symmetry, a natural dark matter candidate.

A search for the decay Bs -> D*-+ π+- is presented using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb-1 of pp collisions collected by LHCb. This decay is expected to be mediated by a W-exchange diagram, with little contribution from rescattering processes, and therefore a measurement of the branching fraction will help to understand the mechanism behind related decays such as Bs -> π+ π- and Bs -> D Dbar. Systematic uncertainties are minimised by using B0 -> D*-+ π+- as a normalisation channel. We find no evidence for a signal, and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of BR(Bs -> D*-+ π+-) < 6.1 (7.8) x10^(-6) at 90% (95%) confidence level.

Abstract:
The quantum numbers of the X(3872) meson are determined to be JPC = 1++ based on angular correlations in B+ to X(3872) K+ decays, where X(3872) to pi+pi- J/psi and J/psi to μ+μ-. The quantum numbers of the X(3872) meson are determined to be JPC = 1++ based on angular correlations in B+ to X(3872) K+ decays, where X(3872) to pi+pi- J/psi and J/psi to μ+μ-. The data correspond to 1.0 fb-1 of pp collisions collected by the LHCb detector. The only alternative assignment allowed by previous measurements, JPC=2-+, is rejected with a confidence level equivalent to more than eight Gaussian standard deviations using the likelihood-ratio test in the full angular phase space. This result favors exotic explanations of the X(3872) state.

These branching fractions are normalized to those of $\bar{B}^0\to D^+D^-$, $B^0\to D_s^+D^-$ and $B^-\to D^0D_s^-$, respectively. An excess of events consistent with the decay $\bar{B}^0\to D^0\bar{D}^0$ is also seen, and its branching fraction is measured relative to that of $B^-\to D^0D_s^-$. Improved measurements of the branching fractions ${\cal{B}}(\bar{B}_s^0\to D_s^+D_s^-)$ and ${\cal{B}}(B^-\to D^0D_s^-)$ are reported, each relative to ${\cal{B}}(B^0\to D_s^+D^-)$. The ratios of branching fractions are {-0.2in} {center} {align*} {\cal{B}(\bar{B}_s^0\to D^+D^-)\over {\cal{B}}(\bar{B}^0\to D^+D^-)} &= 1.08\pm 0.20\pm0.10, {\cal{B}(\bar{B}_s^0\to D_s^+D^-)\over {\cal{B}}(B^0\to D_s^+D^-)} &= 0.050\pm 0.008\pm0.004, {\cal{B}(\bar{B}_s^0\to D^0\bar{D}^0)\over {\cal{B}}(B^-\to D^0D_s^-)} &= 0.019\pm 0.003\pm0.003, {\cal{B}(\bar{B}^0\to D^0\bar{D}^0)\over {\cal{B}}(B^-\to D^0D_s^-)} &= 0.0014\pm 0.0006\pm0.0002,{\cal{B}(\bar{B}_s^0\to D_s^+D_s^-)\over {\cal{B}}(B^0\to D_s^+D^-)} &= 0.56\pm 0.03\pm0.04, {\cal{B}(B^-\to D^0D_s^-)\over {\cal{B}}(B^0\to D_s^+D^-)} &= 1.22\pm 0.02\pm0.07, {align*} {center} \noindent where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
