In this paper we introduce an algorithm which provides approximate solutions to semi-linear ordinary differential equations with highly oscillatory solutions that after an appropriate change of variables can be written as a non-autonomous system with $(2π/ω)$-periodic dependence on $t$. The proposed approximate solutions are written in closed form as functions $X(t,ω\, t)$ where $X(t,θ)$ is, (i) a truncated Fourier series in $θ$ for fixed $t$, and (ii) a truncated Taylor series in $t$ for fixed $θ$ (that is the reason for the name of the proposed integrators). Such approximations are intended to be uniformly accurate in $ω$ (in the sense that their accuracy is not deteriorated as $ω\to \infty$). This feature implies that Taylor-Fourier approximations become more efficient than the application of standard numerical integrators for sufficiently high basic frequency $ω$. The main goal of the paper is to propose a procedure to efficiently compute such approximations by combining power series arithmetic techniques and the FFT algorithm. We present numerical experiments that demonstrate the effectiveness of our approximation method through its application to well-known problems of interest.

The digital transformation of the art world has become a revolution for the sector. Cryptoart, based on non-fungible tokens (NFT), is attracting the attention of artists, collectors and enthusiasts for its ability to tokenise any element that can be sold as art in the digital market. That means it is able to become a scarce resource and an economic asset by encapsulating the market value of a piece of digital art, which may or may not have a reference in the real world. This study will delve into the ethical aspects underlying what is known as the NFT Revolution, particularly impacts related to the abuse or destruction of cultural heritage, speculation and the generation of economic bubbles and environmental unsustainability.

The so-called Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or cognitive loss appears in a previous stage before Alzheimer's Disease (AD), but it does not seem sufficiently severe to interfere in independent abilities of daily life, so it usually does not receive an appropriate diagnosis. Its detection is a challenging issue to be addressed by medical specialists. This work presents a novel proposal based on automatic analysis of speech and disfluencies aimed at supporting MCI diagnosis. The approach includes deep learning by means of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and non-linear multifeature modelling. Moreover, to select the most relevant features non-parametric Mann-Whitney U-testt and Support Vector Machine Attribute (SVM) evaluation are used.

Most of medical developments require the ability to identify samples that are anomalous with respect to a target group or control group, in the sense they could belong to a new, previously unseen class or are not class data. In this case when there are not enough data to train two-class One-class classification appear like an available solution. On the other hand non-linear approaches could give very useful information. The aim of our project is to contribute to earlier diagnosis of AD and better estimates of its severity by using automatic analysis performed through new biomarkers extracted from speech signal. The methods selected in this case are speech biomarkers oriented to Spontaneous Speech and Emotional Response Analysis. In this approach One-class classifiers and two-class classifiers are analyzed. The use of information about outlier and Fractal Dimension features improves the system performance.

Biomedical systems are regulated by interacting mechanisms that operate across multiple spatial and temporal scales and produce biosignals with linear and non-linear information inside. In this sense entropy could provide a useful measure about disorder in the system, lack of information in time-series and/or irregularity of the signals. Essential tremor (ET) is the most common movement disorder, being 20 times more common than Parkinson's disease, and 50-70% of this disease cases are estimated to be genetic in origin. Archimedes spiral drawing is one of the most used standard tests for clinical diagnosis. This work, on selection of nonlinear biomarkers from drawings and handwriting, is part of a wide-ranging cross study for the diagnosis of essential tremor in BioDonostia Health Institute. Several entropy algorithms are used to generate nonlinear feayures. The automatic analysis system consists of several Machine Learning paradigms.

The aim of this study is to suggest a process for exploiting the data generated by the data generated and collected from an ethics line by extracting rules of association and applying the Apriori algorithm. This makes it possible to identify anomalies and behaviour patterns requiring action to review, correct, promote or expand them, as appropriate. Finally, I offer a simulated application of the Apriori algorithm, supplying it with synthetic data to find out its potential, strengths and limitations.

Beam strip** losses of H- ion beams by interactions with residual gas and electromagnetic fields are evaluated. These processes play an important role in compact cyclotrons where the beam is produced on an internal ion source, and they operate under high magnetic field. The implementation of strip** interactions into the beam dynamics code OPAL provides an adequate framework to estimate the strip** losses for compact cyclotrons such as AMIT. The analysis is focused on optimizing the high energy beam current delivered to the target. The optimization is performed by adjusting parameters of the ion source to regulate the vacuum level inside the accelerator and minimize the beam strip** losses.

A group of Early-Career Researchers (ECRs) has been given a mandate from the European Committee for Future Accelerators (ECFA) to debate the topics of the current European Strategy Update (ESU) for Particle Physics and to summarise the outcome in a brief document [1]. A full-day debate with 180 delegates was held at CERN, followed by a survey collecting quantitative input. During the debate, the ECRs discussed future colliders in terms of the physics prospects, their implications for accelerator and detector technology as well as computing and software. The discussion was organised into several topic areas. From these areas two common themes were particularly highlighted by the ECRs: sociological and human aspects; and issues of the environmental impact and sustainability of our research.

The leapfrog integrator is routinely used within the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo method and its variants. We give strong numerical evidence that alternative, easy to implement algorithms yield fewer rejections with a given computational effort. When the dimensionality of the target distribution is high, the number of accepted proposals may be multiplied by a factor of three or more. This increase in the number of accepted proposals is not achieved by impairing any positive features of the sampling. We also establish new non-asymptotic and asymptotic results on the monotonic relationship between the expected acceptance rate and the expected energy error. These results further validate the derivation of one of the integrators we consider and are of independent interest.

Many sophisticated computer models have been developed to understand the behaviour of particle accelerators. Even these complex models often do not describe the measured data. Interactions of the beam with external fields, other particles in the same beam and the beam walls all present modelling challenges. These can be challenging to model correctly even with modern supercomputers. This paper describes OPAL (Object Oriented Parallel Accelerator Library), a parallel open source tool for charged-particle optics in linear accelerators and rings, including 3D space charge. OPAL is built from the ground up as a parallel application exemplifying the fact that high performance computing is the third leg of science, complementing theory and experiment. Using the MAD language with extensions, OPAL can run on a laptop as well as on the largest high performance computing systems. The OPAL framework makes it easy to add new features in the form of new C++ classes, enabling the modelling of many physics processes and field types. OPAL comes in two flavours: OPAL-cycl: tracks particles with 3D space charge including neighbouring turns in cyclotrons and FFAs with time as the independent variable. OPAL-t: models beam lines, linacs, rf-photo injectors and complete XFELs excluding the undulator. The code is managed through the git distributed version control system. A suite of unit tests have been developed for various parts of OPAL, validating each part of the code independently. System tests validate the overall integration of different elements.
