The gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model can provide for additional contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment by means of a loop involving the $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson. However, the parameter space of such models is severely constrained if one combines the latest muon $(g-2)$ data with various neutrino experiments, such as neutrino trident production, $ν-e$ and $ν-q$ elastic scattering, etc. In a supersymmetric $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model, a larger region of parameter space opens up, thus enabling one to explore otherwise forbidden regions of parameter space in nonsupersymmetric models involving the new gauge coupling ($g_X$) and the mass of the $Z^\prime$ gauge boson ($M_{Z^{\prime}}$) . We show that the minimal model with the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) field content is strongly disfavored from $Z$-boson decay and neutrino data. We also show that the nonminimal model with two extra singlet superfields can lead to correct neutrino masses and mixing involving both tree-level and one-loop contributions. We find that, in this model, both muon $(g-2)$ and neutrino data may be simultaneously explained in a parameter region consistent with experimental observations. In addition, we observe that the muon $(g-2)$ anomaly can be accommodated even with higher values of electroweak sparticle masses compared to the MSSM. Charged lepton-flavor-violating processes (like $μ\rightarrow eγ$, $τ\rightarrow μγ$, etc.) may have potentially large branching ratios in this scenario. Depending on the magnitude of the supersymmetry contribution to these processes, they may constrain hitherto unconstrained regions of the $M_{Z^{\prime}}-g_X$ parameter space. However, we find that these branching fractions never exceed their upper bounds in a region where both muon $(g-2)$ and neutrino oscillation data can be simultaneously accommodated.

Abstract:
Lam suggested that the PMNS matrix (or at least some of its elements) can be predicted by embedding the residual symmetry of the leptonic mass terms into a bigger symmetry. We analyze the possibility that the residual symmetries consist of involution generators only and explore how Lam's idea can be implemented.

As examples, we enlist all the $Z_N$ ${\cal R}$-symmetries as well as non-${\cal R}$ $Z_N$ symmetries (N=2,3,4) in the minimally supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) that are free from gauge and gravitational anomalies. We show that there exists non-anomalous discrete symmetries that forbid Baryon number violation up to dimension 6 level (in superspace). We also observe that there exists no non-anomalous $Z_3$ ${\cal R}$-symmetry in the MSSM. Furthermore, we point out that in a theory with one Majorana spin 3/2 gravitino, a large class of $Z_4$ ${\cal R}$-symmetries are violated in the presence of Eguchi-Hanson (EH) gravitational instanton. This is also in general true for higher $Z_N$ ${\cal R}$-symmetries. We also notice that in 4 dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity, the global $U(1)$ ${\cal R}$-symmetry is always violated by the EH instanton irrespective of the matter content of the theory.

The recent LHCb measurement of $R_{K^*}$ in two $q^2$ bins, when combined with the earlier measurement of $R_K$, strongly suggests lepton flavour non-universal new physics in semi-leptonic $B$ meson decays. Motivated by these intriguing hints of new physics, several authors have considered vector, axial vector, scalar and pseudo scalar operators as possible explanations of these measurements. However, tensor operators have widely been neglected in this context. In this paper, we consider the effect of tensor operators in $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$. We find that, unlike other local operators, tensor operators can comfortably produce both of $R_{K^*} ^{\rm low}$ and $R_{K^*} ^{\rm central}$ close to their experimental central values. However, a simultaneous explanation of $R_K$ is not possible with only Tensor operators, and other vector or axial vector operators are needed. In fact, we find that combination of vector and tensor operators can provide simultaneous explanations of all the anomalies comfortably at the $1 σ$ level, a scenario which is hard to achieve with only vector or axial vector operators. We also comment on the compatibility of the various new physics solutions with the measurements of the inclusive decay $B_d \to X_s \ell^+ \ell^-$.

We look for minimal extensions of Standard Model with vector like fermions leading to precision unification of gauge couplings. Constraints from proton decay, Higgs stability and perturbativity are considered. The simplest models contain several copies of vector fermions in two different (incomplete) representations. Some of these models encompass Type III seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses whereas some others have a dark matter candidate. In all the models, at least one of the candidates has non-trivial representation under $SU(3)_{color}$. In the limit of vanishing Yukawa couplings, new QCD bound states are formed, which can be probed at LHC. The present limits based on results from 13 TeV already probe these particles for masses around a TeV. Similar models can be constructed with three or four vector representations, examples of which are presented.

The combined deviation is at the level of $4 σ$ according to the Heavy Flavour Averaging Group (HFAG). In this paper, we perform an effective field theory analysis (at the dimension-6 level) of these potential New Physics (NP) signals assuming $\rm SU(3)_{C} \times SU(2)_{L} \times U(1)_{Y}$ gauge invariance. We first show that, in general, $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ are theoretically independent observables and hence, their theoretical predictions are not correlated. We identify the operators that can explain the experimental measurements of $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ individually and also together. Motivated by the recent measurement of the $τ$ polarisation in $\overline{B} \to D^* τ\barν_τ$ decay, $P_τ(D^*)$ by the Belle collaboration, we study the impact of a more precise measurement of $P_τ(D^*)$ (and a measurement of $P_τ(D)$) on the various possible NP explanations. Furthermore, we show that the measurement of $R_{D^*}$ in bins of $q^2$, the square of the invariant mass of the lepton-neutrino system, along with the information on $τ$ polarisation and the forward-backward asymmetry of the $τ$ lepton, can completely distinguish the various operator structures. We also provide the full expressions of the double differential decay widths for the individual $τ$ helicities in the presence of all the 10 dimension-6 operators that can contribute to these decays.

Extensions of these models with matter-messenger mixing terms have been proposed to generate a large trilinear parameter, $A_t$, relaxing these constraints. The detailed survey of these models \cite{Byakti:2013ti,Evans:2013kxa} so far considered messenger mixings with only MSSM superfields. In the present work, we extend the survey to MSSM with inverse-seesaw mechanism. The neutrino-sneutrino corrections to the Higgs mass in the inverse seesaw model are not significant in the minimal gauge mediation model, unless one considers messenger-matter interaction terms. We classify all possible models with messenger-matter interactions and perform thorough numerical analysis to find out the promising models. We found that out of the 17 possible models 9 of them can lead to Higgs mass within the observed value without raising the sfermion masses significantly. The successful models have stop masses $\sim $1.5 TeV with small or negligible mixing and yet a light CP even Higgs at 125 GeV.

To explain the absence of an excess in semileptonic channel, we explore the possibility where the particle $R$ decays to additional light scalars $X,X$ or $X,Y$. Modified analysis strategy has been proposed to study three particle final state of the resonance decay and to identify decay channels of $X$. Associated production of $R$ with gauge bosons has been studied in detail to identify the production mechanism of $R$. We construct comprehensive categories for vector and scalar BSM particles which may play the role of particles $R$, $X$, $Y$ and find alternate channels to fix the new couplings and search for these particles.

We consider a renormalizable messenger sector with magic messenger fields instead of usual SU(5) complete multiplets. We derive the soft supersymmetry breaking terms and show that the gaugino sector can be parameterized by only two parameters. These parameters can be chosen appropriately to obtain various patterns of gaugino masses and different ratios among them. The sfermion sector can also be characterized by two independent parameters which can be adjusted to change the relative masses of squarks and sleptons. A judicious choice of parameters also allows us to achieve the lightest Higgs boson mass about 125 GeV. In this paper we focus on a scenario where a comparatively large hierarchy exists between the U(1) and SU(2) gaugino mass parameters. In such a case, the lightest Higgs boson originating from the decay of the next-to-lightest neutralino, following the direct production of chargino neutralino pair, can be considerably boosted. We show that a boosted Supersymmetric Higgs signal with a decent signal to background ratio can be obtained using the jet substructure technique at LHC with 8 TeV (14 TeV) center of mass energy and an integrated luminosity of about 30 fb$^{-1}$ (15 fb$^{-1}$).
