Rectification of displacement currents in an adiabatic electron pump
Abstract: Rectification of ac displacement currents generated by periodic variation of two independent gate voltages of a quantum dot can lead to a dc voltage linear in the frequency. The presence of this rectified displacement current could account for the magnetic field symmetry observed in a recent measurement on an adiabatic quantum electron pump by Switkes et al. [Science 283, 1905 (1999)].

Current induced switching of magnetic domains to a perpendicular configuration

Fano resonances as a probe of phase coherence in quantum dots
Abstract: In the presence of direct trajectories connecting source and drain contacts, the conductance of a quantum dot may exhibit resonances of the Fano type. Universal gap fluctuations in the superconductor proximity effect
Abstract: Random-matrix theory is used to study the mesoscopic fluctuations of the excitation gap in a metal grain or quantum dot induced by the proximity to a superconductor. GENERALIZED CIRCULAR ENSEMBLE OF SCATTERING MATRICES FOR A CHAOTIC CAVITY WITH NON-IDEAL LEADS
Abstract: We consider the problem of the statistics of the scattering matrix S of a chaotic cavity (quantum dot), which is coupled to the outside world by non-ideal leads containing N scattering channels. The Hamiltonian H of the quantum dot is assumed to be an M x N hermitian matrix with probability distribution P(H) ~ det[lambda^2 + (H - epsilon)^2]^[-(beta M + 2- beta)/2], where lambda and epsilon are ar… ▽ More

Giant Backscattering Peak in Angle-Resolved Andreev Reflection
Abstract: It is shown analytically and by numerical simulation that the angular distribution of Andreev reflection by a disordered normal-metal -- superconductor junction has a narrow peak at the angle of incidence. The peak is higher than the well-known coherent backscattering peak in the normal state, by a large factor G/G_0 (where G is the conductance of the junction and G_0=2e^2/h). The enhanced backs… ▽ More

Effect of a Voltage Probe on the Phase-Coherent Conductance of a Ballistic Chaotic Cavity
Abstract: The effect of an invasive voltage probe on the phase-coherent conduction through a ballistic chaotic cavity is investigated by random-matrix theory. The entire distribution P(G) of the conductance G is computed for the case that the cavity is coupled to source and drain by two point contacts with a quantized conductance of 2 e^2/h, both in the presence (beta = 1) and absence (beta = 2) of time-r… ▽ More

Low-Temperature Behavior of the Large-U Hubbard Model from High-Temperature Expansions
Abstract: We derive low-temperature properties of the large-U Hubbard model in two and three dimensions from exact series-expansion results for high temperatures. Convergence problems and limited available information prevent a direct or Pade'-type extrapolation. We propose a new method of extrapolation, which is restricted to large U and low hole densities, for which the problem can be mapped on that of… ▽ More
