In this review, we present some advanced algorithms and programs used in our scientific school with short description of types of astrophysical systems, which we study. However, we discuss mainly mathematical methods, which may be applied to analysis of signal of any nature - in computer science, engineering, economics, social studies, decision making etc. The variety of types of signals need a diversity of adequate complementary specific methods, in an addition to common algorithms. As an example, one may refer to vibrations, stability of mechanisms. Many mathematical equations are common in Science, Technics and Humanities.

It has no special funds, and is supported from resources and grants of participating organizations, when informal working groups are created. The types of instability in the interacting binary stars are reviewed. The project "Inter-Longitude Astronomy" is a series of smaller projects on concrete stars or groups of stars. It has no special funds, and is supported from resources and grants of participating organizations, when informal working groups are created. Totally we studied 1900+ variable stars of different types. The characteristic timescale is from seconds to decades and (extrapolating) even more. The monitoring of the first star of our sample AM Her was initiated by Prof. V.P. Tsesevich (1907-1983). Since more than 358 ADS papers were published. Some highlights of our photometric and photo-polarimetric monitoring and mathematical modelling of interacting binary stars of different types are presented: classical, asynchronous, intermediate polars and magnetic dwarf novae (DO Dra) with 25 timescales corresponding to different physical mechanisms and their combinations (part "Polar"); negative and positive superhumpers in nova-like and many dwarf novae stars ("Superhumper"); eclipsing "non-magnetic" cataclysmic variables; symbiotic systems ("Symbiosis"); super-soft sources (SSS, QR And); spotted (and not spotted) eclipsing variables with (and without) evidence for a current mass transfer ("Eclipser") with a special emphasis on systems with a direct impact of the stream into the gainer star's atmosphere, or V361 Lyr-type stars. Other parts of the ILA project are "Stellar Bell" (interesting pulsating variables of different types and periods - M, SR, RV Tau, RR Lyr, Delta Sct) and "Novice"(="New Variable") discoveries and classification with a subsequent monitoring for searching and studying possible multiple components of variability. Special mathematical methods have been developed to create a set of complementary software for statistically optimal modelling of variable stars of different types.

Variability of the spin period of the white dwarf in the V405 Aur (RX J0558.0+5353) system using our observations and previously published maxima timings is analyzed. As the phase light curve contains two nearly equal photometric waves, one maximum was set as a "primary" one. The ephemeris for the maxima of the "spin variability" (due to rotation of the magnetized white dwarf) for recent seasons 2010-2012 is Tmax = HJD 2455882.470614(25)+0.00631314602(46)E. This corresponds to a significant negative trend at the "O-C" diagram. Due to significant gaps in the observational data and statistical error of timings, there may be some suggestions on the spin period variability - a fast period "jump" in 2007y; secular period variations; a cubic ephemeris (which may be interpreted by a precession of the magnetic white dwarf at a time-scale of decades) or a periodic change with a period of 6.2 years and semi-amplitude of 17.2\pm1.8 sec. For the present observations, more reliable are two latter models. To distinguish between them, a continuation of monitoring is needed. The periodic variations may be interpreted by a light time effect caused by a third body of mass (M3 > 0.09M\odot), which corresponds to a low-mass star, but not to an extra-solar planet. In this case, the system belongs to a rare class of cataclysmic variables with a third body.

The observations of the two-periodic magnetic cataclysmic system EX Hya have been carried out, using the telescopes RC16 and TOA-150 of the Tzec Maun observatory. 6 nights of observations were obtained in 2010-2011 (alternatively changing filters VR). Also the databases of WASP, ASAS and AAVSO have been analyzed. Processing time series was carried out using the program MCV. We analyzed changes in the rotation period of the white dwarf, and based on our own and previously published moments of maximum. The ephemeris was determined for the maxima of the radiation flux associated with the rotation of the magnetic white dwarf: Tmax=2437699.89079(59) +0.0465464808(69).E-6.3(2)*10^{-13}E^2, which corresponds to the characteristic timescale of the rotation spin-up of 4.67(14)*10^6 years. This contradicts the estimated value of the mass of the white dwarf of 0.42M_\odot, based on X-ray observations made by Yuasa et al (2010), however, is consistent with estimates of the masses of 0.79 M_\odot (white dwarf) and 0.108 M_\odot (red dwarf) previously published Beuermann and Reinsch (2008), and the assumption that the capture of accreted plasma by magnetic field of the white dwarf is near the border of the Roche lobe. Analyzed moments do not support the assumption of Mauche et al (2009) for a statistically significant cubic term in the ephemeris. Despite the presence of outbursts in EX Hya, there are significant differences from the DO Dra, which supports the introduction to a detailed classification of the intermediate polars the groups of "outbursting intermediate polars" and "magnetic dwarf novae."

We present the results of photometric CCD observations of the magnetic cataclysmic variable V405 Aurigae (RX J0558.0+5353 = 1RXS J055800.7+535358) obtained using different instruments. We analysed variability of the spin period of the white dwarf in the V405 Aur (RX J0558.0+5353) system using our observations and previously published maxima timings. The spin period of the system in 2010-2012 is $P=545.4558163(94)$s. As we have gaps in observational data, we present 2 hypotheses of the spin period variability of this system - a cubic ephemeris which may be interpreted by a precession of the magnetic white dwarf or a periodic change with a period of 6.2 years and semi-amplitude of $17.2\pm1.8$ sec. The periodic variations may be interpreted by a light-time effect caused by a low-mass star ($M_3\ge0.09M_\odot$). In this case, the system belongs to a rare class of cataclysmic variables with a third body.

During processing the observations of the intermediate polar 1RXS J180340.0+401214, obtained 26.05.2012 at the 60-cm telescope of the Mt. Suhora observatory (Krakow, Poland), variability of 2MASS J18024395+4003309 was discovered. As this object was not listed in the "General Catalogue of Variable Stars" or "Variable Stars Index", we registered it as VSX J180243.9+400331. Additionally we used 189 separate observations from the Catalina Sky Survey spread over 7 years. The periodogram analysis yields the period of 0d.3348837{\pm}0d.0000002.The object was classified as the Algol-type eclipsing binary with a strong effect of ellipticity. The depths of the primary and secondary minima are nearly identical, which corresponds to a brightness (and maybe) mass ratio close to 1. The statistically optimal degree of the trigonometric polynomial n=4. The most recent minimum occurred at HJD 2456074.4904. The brightness range from our data is 16.56-17.52 (V), 16.18-17.08 (R). The NAV ("New Algol Variable") algorithm was applied for statistically optimal phenomenological modeling and determination of corresponding parameters.

Results of a multi-color study of the variability of the magnetic cataclysmic variable BY Cam are presented. The observations were obtained at the Korean 1.8m and Ukrainian 2.6m, 1.2m and 38-cm telescopes in 2003-2005, 56 observational runs cover 189 hours. The variations of the mean brightness in different colors are correlated with a slope dR/dV=1.29(4), where the number in brackets denotes the error estimates in the last digits. For individual runs, this slope is much smaller ranging from 0.98(3) to 1.24(3), with a mean value of 1.11(1). Near the maximum, the slope becomes smaller for some nights, indicating more blue spectral energy distribution, whereas the night-to-night variability has an infrared character. For the simultaneous UBVRI photometry, the slopes increase with wavelength from dU/dR=0.23(1) to dI/dR=1.18(1). Such wavelength dependence is opposite to that observed in non-magnetic cataclysmic variables, in an agreement to the model of cyclotron emission. The principal component analysis shows two (with a third at the limit of detection) components of variablitity with different spectral energy distribution, which possibly correspond to different regions of emission. The scalegram analysis shows a highest peak corresponding to the 200-min spin variability, its quarter and to the 30-min and 8-min QPOs. The amplitudes of all these components are dependent on wavelength and luminosity state. The light curves were fitted by a statistically optimal trigonometrical polynomial (up to 4-th order) to take into account a 4-hump structure. The dependences of these parameters on the phase of the beat period and on mean brightness are discussed. The amplitude of spin variations increases with an increasing wavelength and with decreasing brightness
