Here, we report electrostriction in co-doped ceria (Sm, Nd) with a nominally low short-range vacancy-dopant association energy. Such a strategy results in a higher electrostrictive strain coefficient at lower-frequencies, and unexpected electromechanical strain saturation and relaxation effects.
