Abstract:
We introduce a new estimator, CRE-GMM, which exploits the correlated random effects (CRE) approach within the generalised method of moments (GMM), specifically applied to level equations, GMM-lev. It has the advantage of estimating the effect of measurable time-invariant covariates using all available information. This is not possible with GMM-dif, applied to the equations of each period transform…

We introduce a new estimator, CRE-GMM, which exploits the correlated random effects (CRE) approach within the generalised method of moments (GMM), specifically applied to level equations, GMM-lev. It has the advantage of estimating the effect of measurable time-invariant covariates using all available information. This is not possible with GMM-dif, applied to the equations of each period transformed into first differences, while GMM-sys uses little information as it adds the equation in levels for only one period. The GMM-lev, by implying a two-component error term containing individual heterogeneity and shock, exposes the explanatory variables to possible double endogeneity. For example, the estimation of actual persistence could suffer from bias if instruments were correlated with the unit-specific error component. The CRE-GMM deals with double endogeneity, captures initial conditions and enhance inference. Monte Carlo simulations for different panel types and under different double endogeneity assumptions show the advantage of our approach. The empirical applications on production and R&D contribute to clarify the advantages of using CRE-GMM.

Abstract:
Structural and electronic properties of homogeneous poly(3-Hexylthiophene) (P3HT) films ob- tained from the electro-spray method were presented by means of grazing incidence x-ray diffrac- tion, atomic force microscopy, optical absorption, photoelectron spectroscopy and (photo)electrical conductivity. Structural and electronic properties of homogeneous poly(3-Hexylthiophene) (P3HT) films ob- tained from the electro-spray method were presented by means of grazing incidence x-ray diffrac- tion, atomic force microscopy, optical absorption, photoelectron spectroscopy and (photo)electrical conductivity. Different structural conformations were obtained starting from different solution con- centrations and flow rate conditions. The electro-spray method was shown to effectively expand the control of the conformation and assembling of the polymers films, opening the way to the possibility of tailoring film characteristics according to device specifications.

The ultrafast thermal and mechanical dynamics of a two-dimensional lattice of metallic nano-disks has been studied by near infrared pump-probe diffraction measurements, over a temporal range spanning from 100 fs to several nanoseconds. The experiments demonstrate that, in these systems, a two-dimensional surface acoustic wave (2DSAW), with a wavevector given by the reciprocal periodicity of the array, can be excited by ~120 fs Ti:sapphire laser pulses. In order to clarify the interaction between the nanodisks and the substrate, numerical calculations of the elastic eigenmodes and simulations of the thermodynamics of the system are developed through finite-element analysis. At this light, we unambiguously show that the observed 2DSAW velocity shift originates from the mechanical interaction between the 2DSAWs and the nano-disks, while the correlated 2DSAW dam** is due to the energy radiation into the substrate.
