The use of AR elements in the study of foreign languages at the university

Abstract: The article deals with the analysis of the impact of the using AR technology in the study of a foreign language by university students. It is stated out that AR technology can be a good tool for learning a foreign language. It is stated out that AR technology can be a good tool for learning a foreign language. The use of elements of AR in the course of studying a foreign language, in particular in the form of virtual excursions, is proposed. Advantages of using AR technology in the study of the German language are identified, namely: the possibility of involvement of different channels of information perception, the integrity of the representation of the studied object, the faster and better memorization of new vocabulary, the development of communicative foreign language skills. The ease and accessibility of using QR codes to obtain information about the object of study from open Internet sources is shown. The results of a survey of students after virtual tours are presented. A reorientation of methodological support for the study of a foreign language at universities is proposed. Attention is drawn to the use of AR elements in order to support students with different learning styles (audio, visual, kinesthetic). △ Less

The application of geographic information systems in schools around the world: a retrospective analysis

The authors single out the stages of GIS application in school geographical education based on the retrospective analysis of the scientific literature. The first stage (late 70s - early 90s of the 20th century) is the beginning of the first educational GIS programs and partnership… ▽ More The article is devoted to the problem of incorporation geographic information systems (GIS) in world school practice. The authors single out the stages of GIS application in school geographical education based on the retrospective analysis of the scientific literature. The first stage (late 70s - early 90s of the 20th century) is the beginning of the first educational GIS programs and partnership agreements between schools and universities. The second stage (mid 90s of the 20th century - the beginning of the 21st century) comprises the distribution of GIS-educational programs in European and Australian schools with the involvement of leading developers of GIS-packages (ESRI, Intergraph, MapInfo Corp., etc.). The third stage (2005-2012) marks the spread of the GIS school education in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America; on the fourth stage (from 2012 to the present) geographic information systems emerge in school curricula in most countries. The haracteristics of the GIS-technologies development stages are given considering the GIS didactic possibilities for the study of school geography, as well as highlighting their advantages and disadvantages. △ Less

Distance learning as innovation technology of school geographical education

Particular attention is paid to distance learning as a pedagogical innovation, its theoretical aspects and the ways of its introduction into the educational process. The relevance of using distance learning at the New Ukrainian School is proved. Its advantages and disadvantages are revealed. The examples of some forms of distance learning that will contribute to geographical competence development according to European requirements are provided. Cloud technologies as a tool of creating Earth Remote Sensing educational resources

One of the major problems that now constrains the active introduction of remote sensing data in the educational process is the low availability of training aerospace pictures, which meet didactic requirements. The article analyzes the main sources of ERS as a basis for educational resources formation with aerospace images: paper, various individual sources (personal stations receiving satellite information, drones, balloons, kites and balls) and Internet sources (mainstream sites, sites of scientific-technical organizations and distributors, interactive Internet geoservices, cloud platforms of geospatial analysis). The authors point out that their geospatial analysis platforms (Google Earth Engine, Land Viewer, EOS Platform, etc.), due to their unique features, are the basis for the creation of information thematic databases of ERS. The article presents an example of such a database, covering more than 800 aerospace images and dynamic models, which are combined according to such didactic principles as high information load and clarity. △ Less

The article determines the didactic potential of the virtual information educational environment for the geography students training based on the analysis of the authors' experience of blended learning by means of the Google Classroom. It also specifies the features (immersion, interactivity, and dynamism, sense of presence, continuity, and causality). The authors highlighted the advantages of virtual information educational environment implementation, such as: increase of the efficiency of the educational process by intensifying the process of cognition and interpersonal interactive communication; continuous access to multimedia content both in Google Classroom and beyond; saving student time due to the absence of necessity to work out the training material "manually"; availability of virtual pages of the virtual class; individualization of the educational process; formation of informational culture of the geography students ; and more productive learning of the educational material at the expense of IT educational facilities. Among the disadvantages the article mentions low level of computerization, insignificant quantity and low quality of software products, underestimation of the role of VIEE in the professional training of geography students, and the lack of economic stimuli, etc. △ Less

The authors outline the basic principles for implementing ArcGIS Online in the educational process (interdisciplinary integration, the sequence of individualization in training, communicability, distance education and region… ▽ More The article dwells upon the scientifically relevant problem of using cloud-based GIS-technologies when training future geography teachers (based on ArcGIS Online application). The authors outline the basic principles for implementing ArcGIS Online in the educational process (interdisciplinary integration, the sequence of individualization in training, communicability, distance education and regional studies), and provide an example of an interactive map created with the help of the specified cloud GIS, since this kind of map is the most popular a form of research by geography students. In the article it is noted that integration of ArcGIS Online into the educational process allows the teacher to follow a clear pedagogical strategy, taking into account possible variants of its use (demonstration, direct mastering of GIS in a computer class and independent work in an individual mode). The authors argue that the use of aerospace images by means of the information and communication technologies involvement… ▽ More The article dwells upon the Earth remote sensing data as one of the basic directions of Geo-Information Science, a unique source of information on processes and phenomena occurring in almost all spheres of the Earth geographic shell (atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, etc.). The authors argue that the use of aerospace images by means of the information and communication technologies involvement in the learning process allows not only to increase the information context value of learning, but also contributes to the formation of students' cognitive interest in such disciplines as geography, biology, history, physics, computer science, etc. It has been grounded that remote sensing data form students' spatial, temporal and qualitative concepts, sensory support for the perception, knowledge and explanation of the specifics of objects and phenomena of geographical reality, which, in its turn, provides an increase in the level of educational achievements. The techniques of aerospace images application into the modern school practice have been analyzed and illustrated in the examples: from using them as visual aids, to realization of practical and research orientation of training on the basis of remote sensing data. For the last three years, the authors have tested such inclass and distance courses as "Cartography and Basics of Topography", "Population Geography", "Information Systems and Technologies in Tourism Industry","Regional Economic and Social World Geography (Europe and the CIS)", "Regional Economic and Social World Geography (Africa, Latin America, Asia,Anglo-America, Australia and Oceania)", "Socio-Economic Cartography". The advantages of using the specified interactive tool during the study of geographical disciplines are highlighted out in the article. As it has been established, the organization of the learning process using Google Classroom ensures the unity of in-class and out-of-class learning; it is designed to realize effective interaction of the subjects learning in real time; to monitor the quality of training and control the students' learning achievements in class as well as out of it, etc. The article outlines the disadvantages that should be taken into account when organizing blended learning using Google Classroom, including the occasional predominance of students' external motivation in education and their low level of readiness for work in the classroom; insufficient level of material and technical support in some classrooms; need for out-of-class pedagogical support; lack of guidance on the content aspect of Google Classroom pages, etc. Through the test series conducted during 2016-2017, an increase in the number of geography students with a sufficient level of academic achievements and a decrease of those with a low level of it was revealed. △ Less

Abstract: Based on a sample of \etapr mesons produced in the radiative decay $J/ψ\toγη^{\prime}$ in $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decay $η^{\prime}\toωe^{+} e^{-}$ is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of $8σ$. The branching fraction is measured to be… ▽ More Based on a sample of \etapr mesons produced in the radiative decay $J/ψ\toγη^{\prime}$ in $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decay $η^{\prime}\toωe^{+} e^{-}$ is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of $8σ$. The branching fraction is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η^{\prime}\toωe^{+} e^{-})=(1.97\pm0.34(\text{stat})\pm0.17(\text{syst}))\times10^{-4}$, which is in agreement with theoretical predictions. The branching fraction of $η^{\prime}\toωγ$ is also measured to be $(2.55\pm0.03(\text{stat})\pm0.16(\text{syst}))\times10^{-2}$, which is the most precise measurement to date, and the relative branching fraction $\frac{\mathcal{B}(η^{\prime}\to ωe^{+}e^{-})}{\mathcal{B}(η^{\prime}\to ωγ)}$ is determined to be $(7.71\pm1.34(\text{stat})\pm0.54(\text{syst}))\times10^{-3}$. △ Less

In particular, a piecewise function that describes the dynamics of the $π^{0}π^{0}$ system is determined as a function of $M_{π^{0}π^{0}}$ from an analysis of the $(1.311\pm0.011)\times10^{9}$ $J/ψ$ decays collected by the BESIII detector. The goal of this analysis is to provide a description of the scalar and tensor components of the $π^0π^0$ system while making minimal assumptions about the properties or number of poles in the amplitude. Such a model-independent description allows one to integrate these results with other related results from complementary reactions in the development of phenomenological models, which can then be used to directly fit experimental data to obtain parameters of interest. The branching fraction of $J/ψ\to γπ^{0}π^{0}$ is determined to be $(1.15\pm0.05)\times10^{-3}$, where the uncertainty is systematic only and the statistical uncertainty is negligible. △ Less

The production of a resonance with quantum numbers J^PC = 1^++ such as the X(3872) via single photon e+e- annihilation is forbidden, but is allowed by a next-to-le… ▽ More Using the data sets taken at center-of-mass energies above 4 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we search for the reaction e+e- -> gamma_ISR X(3872) -> gamma_ISR pi+pi-J/psi via the Initial State Radiation technique. The production of a resonance with quantum numbers J^PC = 1^++ such as the X(3872) via single photon e+e- annihilation is forbidden, but is allowed by a next-to-leading order box diagram. We do not observe a significant signal of X(3872), and therefore give an upper limit for the electronic width times the branching fraction Gamma_ee^X(3872)Br(X(3872) -> pi+pi-Jψ) < 0.13 eV at the 90% confidence level. This measurement improves upon existing limits by a factor of 46. Using the same final state, we also measure the electronic width of the psi(3686) to be Gamma_ee^psi(3686) = 2231 +- 18 +- 99 eV. △ Less

Abstract: We report a measurement of the branching fraction of $ψ(3770)\toγχ_{c1}$ and search for the transition $ψ(3770)\rightarrow γχ_{c2}$ based on 2.92~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data accumulated at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$~GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. Abstract: We report the first observation of the Dalitz decay $η' \to γe^+e^-$, based on a data sample of 1.31 billion $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector. The $η'$ mesons are produced via the $J/ψ\to γη'$ decay process. The ratio $Γ(η' \to γe^+ e^-)/Γ(η'\toγγ)$ is measured to be $(2.13\pm0.09(\text{stat.})\pm0.07(\text{sys.}))\times10^{-2}$. The corresponding effective electromagnetic form factor of the proton is deduced under the assumption that the electric and magnetic form factors are equal $(|G_{E}|= |G_{M}|)$. In addition, the… ▽ More Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the Born cross section of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow p\bar{p}$ at 12 center-of-mass energies from 2232.4 to 3671.0 MeV. The corresponding effective electromagnetic form factor of the proton is deduced under the assumption that the electric and magnetic form factors are equal $(|G_{E}|= |G_{M}|)$. In addition, the ratio of electric to magnetic form factors, $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$, and $|G_{M}|$ are extracted by fitting the polar angle distribution of the proton for the data samples with larger statistics, namely at $\sqrt{s}=$ 2232.4 and 2400.0 MeV and a combined sample at $\sqrt{s}$ = 3050.0, 3060.0 and 3080.0 MeV, respectively. The measured cross sections are in agreement with recent results from BaBar, improving the overall uncertainty by about 30\%. The $|G_{E}/G_{M}|$ ratios are close to unity and consistent with BaBar results in the same $q^{2}$ region, which indicates the data are consistent with the assumption that $|G_{E}|=|G_{M}|$ within uncertainties. △ Less

In the $K\bar{K}π$ invariant mass distribution a structure near the $K^*(892)\bar{K}$ mass threshold is observed, and the corresponding mass and width are measured to be $1412\pm4(\mathrm{stat.})\pm8(\mathrm{sys.}) \mathrm{MeV}/c^2$ and $Γ$ = $84\pm12(\mathrm{stat.})\pm40(\mathrm{sys.}) \mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. The observed state favors an assignment to the $h_1(1380)$, considering its possible $J^{PC}$ and comparing its mass, width and decay mode to those reported in the Particle Data Group. △ Less

Abstract: We report a measurement of the parameter $y_{CP}$ in $\ensuremath{D^0}\xspace-\ensuremath{\overline{D}^{0}}\xspace$ oscillations performed by taking advantage of quantum coherence between pairs of $\ensuremath{D^0}\xspace \ensuremath{\overline{D}^{0}}\xspace$ mesons produced in $e^+e^-$ annihilations near threshold. Study of J/psi->eta phi pi+pi- at BESIII

Abstract: Based on a sample of $2.25\times 10^{8} J/ψ$ events taken with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we present the results of a study of the decay $J/ψ\to ηφπ^{+}π^{-}$. The $Y(2175)$ resonance is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of $φf_{0}(980)$ with a statistical significance of greater than $10σ$. The results are consistent within errors with those of previous experiments. We also measure the branching fraction of $J/ψ\to φf_1(1285)$ with $f_1(1285)\to ηπ^{+}π^{-}$ and set upper limits on the branching fractions for $J/ψ\to φη(1405)$/$φX(1835)$/$φX(1870)$ with $η(1405)$/$X(1835)$/$X(1870)\to ηπ^{+}π^{-}$ at the 90\% confidence level. △ Less

Precision measurement of the $D^{*0}$ decay branching fractions

Abstract: Using 482 pb$^{-1}$ of data taken at $\sqrt{s}=4.009$ GeV, we measure the branching fractions of the decays of $D^{*0}$ into $D^0π^0$ and $D^0γ$ to be $\BR(D^{*0} \to D^0π^0)=(65.5\pm 0.8\pm 0.5)%$ and $\BR(D^{*0} \to D^0γ)=(34.5\pm 0.8\pm 0.5)%$ respectively, by assuming that the $D^{*0}$ decays only into these two modes. By examining the $ωχ_{c0}$ cross section as a function of center-of-mass energy, we find that it is inconsistent with the line shape of the $Y(4260)$ observed in $e^+ e^-\toπ^+π^-J/ψ$. Assuming the $ωχ_{c0}$ signals come from a single resonance, we extract mass and width of the resonance to be $(4230\pm8\pm6)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(38\pm12\pm2)$ MeV, respectively, and the statistical significance is more than $9σ$. △ Less

Observation of $e^+e^-\to π^0π^0 h_c$ and a neutral charmoniumlike structure $Z_c(4020)^0$

Abstract: Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Bei**g Electron Positron Collider at center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4.23$, 4.26, and 4.36~GeV, we observe $\EE\to \pphc$ for the first time. The Born cross sections are measured and found to be about half of those of $\EE\to π^+π^-h_c$ within less than 2$σ$. In the $π^0h_c$ mass spectrum, a structure at 4.02~GeV/$c^2$ is found.… ▽ More Using data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Bei**g Electron Positron Collider at center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=4.23$, 4.26, and 4.36~GeV, we observe $\EE\to \pphc$ for the first time. The Born cross sections are measured and found to be about half of those of $\EE\to π^+π^-h_c$ within less than 2$σ$. In the $π^0h_c$ mass spectrum, a structure at 4.02~GeV/$c^2$ is found. It is most likely to be the neutral isospin partner of the $\zcp^{\pm}$ observed in the process of $\EE\to π^+π^-h_c$ is found. A fit to the $π^0 h_c$ invariant mass spectrum, with the width of the $\zcpn$ fixed to that of its charged isospin partner and possible interferences with non-$\zcpn$ amplitudes neglected, gives a mass of ($4023.9\pm 2.2 \pm 3.8$)~MeV/$c^2$ for the $\zcpn$, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. △ Less

Search for C-parity violation in $J/ ψ\to γγ$ and $ γφ$

Abstract: Using $1.06\times10^8$ $ψ(3686)$ events recorded in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 3.686 GeV with the BESIII at the BEPCII collider, we present searches for C-parity violation in $J/ψ\to γγ$ and $ γφ$ decays via $ψ(3686) \to J/ψπ^+π^-$. No significant signals are observed in either channel. Two solutions with the same probability and a significance of 1.5$σ$ are found, and the Born cross section of $ψ(3770)\rightarrow p \overline{p} π^0$ is determined to be less than 0.22 pb at 90% confidence level and $33.8\pm1.8\pm2.1$ pb, respectively. Using the estimated cross section and a constant decay amplitude approximation, the cross section $σ(p\overline{p} \rightarrow ψ(3770) π^0)$ is calculated for the kinematic situation of the planned $\overline{\text{P}}\text{ANDA}$ experiment. The maximum cross section corresponding to the two solutions is expected to be less than $0.79$ nb at 90% confidence level and $122\pm10$ nb at a center of mass energy of 5.26 GeV. △ Less

Abstract: By using a 2.92 fb$^{-1}$ data sample taken at $\sqrt{s} = 3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the radiative transitions $ψ(3770)\toγη_c$ and $γη_c(2S)$ through the hadronic decays $η_c(η_c(2S))\to K^0_SK^\pmπ^\mp$. No significant excess of signal events above background is observed. Measurement of the branching fraction for $ψ(3686)\toωK^+ K^-$

Abstract: With $1.06\times 10^8$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the branching fraction of $ψ(3686) \to ωK^+ K^-$ is measured to be $(1.54 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.11) \times 10^{-4}$. Abstract: An energy scan near the $τ$ pair production threshold has been performed using the BESIII detector. About $24$ pb$^{-1}$ of data, distributed over four scan points, was collected. This analysis is based on $τ$ pair decays to $ee$, $eμ$, $eh$, $μμ$, $μh$, $hh$, $eρ$, $μρ$ and $πρ$ final states, where $h$ denotes a charged $π$ or $K$. Using world-average values of external parameters, we obtain $\cosδ_{Kπ} = 1.02\pm0.11\pm0.06\pm0.01$. Here, the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third uncertainty arises from the external parameters. The cross section of $e^+e^-\rightarrowψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}$, $σ(e^+e^-\rightarrowψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p})$, is found to have two solutions, determined to be ($0.059\pm0.032\pm0.012$) pb with the phase angle $φ= (255.8\pm37.9\pm4.8)^\circ$ ($<$0.11 pb at the 90% confidence level), or $σ(e^+e^-\rightarrowψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}) = (2.57\pm0.12\pm0.12$) pb with $φ= (266.9\pm6.1\pm0.9)^\circ$ both of which agree with a destructive interference. Using the obtained cross section of $ψ(3770)\rightarrow p\bar{p}$, the cross section of $p\bar{p}\rightarrow ψ(3770)$, which is useful information for the future PANDA experiment, is estimated to be either ($9.8\pm5.7$) nb ($<17.2$ nb at 90% C.L.) or $(425.6\pm42.9)$ nb. △ Less

Additionally, using this branching fraction measurement together with a Lattice QCD prediction for $f_{D^+}$, we find $|V_{\rm cd}|=0.2210\pm 0.0058 \pm 0.0047$. We present systematic studies of isospin-violating decays in charmonium, such as $ψ' \rightarrow π^{0} J/ψ$, $ψ' \rightarrow π^{0} h_{c}$, $e^{+}e^{-} \rightarrow π^{0} J/ψ$ at $\sqrt{s}=$ 4.009 GeV, and their improved measurements of their branching fractions. △ Less
