Mesons and diquarks in a color superconducting regime
Authors:

Abstract:
The behavior of the mesons and diquarks is studied at finite temperatures, chemical potentials and densities, notably when the color superconductivity is taken into account. The Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model complemented by a Polyakov loop (PNJL description) has been adapted in order to model these composite particles in this regime. This paper focuses on the scalar and pseudo-scalar mesons and diquarks, in a three-flavor and three-color description, with the isospin symmetry and at null strangeness. A finality of this work is to underline the modifications carried out by the color superconducting regime on the used equations and on the obtained results. It has been observed that the two-flavor color-superconducting (2SC) phase affects the masses of the mesons and diquarks in a non-negligible way. This observation is particularly true at high densities and low temperatures for the pions, $η$ and the diquarks [ud] whose color is rg. This reveals that the inclusion of the color superconductivity is relevant to describe the mesons and diquarks near the first order chiral phase transition.

Color superconductivity in the Nambu Jona-Lasinio model complemented by a Polyakov loop
Authors:

Abstract:
The color superconductivity was studied with an adaptation of the Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model (NJL). This one was coupled to a Polyakov loop, to form the PNJL model. A $μ$-dependent Polyakov loop potential was considered. An objective of the presented works was to describe the analytical calculations required to establish the equations to be solved, in all of the treated cases. They concerned the…

They concerned the normal quark phase, the 2-flavor color-superconducting and the color-flavor-locked phases, in an SU(3)f X SU(3)c description. The calculations were performed according to the temperature T, the chemical potentials $μ_{f}$ or according to the densities $ρ_{f}$, with or without the isospin symmetry. Among the obtained results, it was found that at low T, the restoration of the chiral symmetry, the deconfinement transition and the transition between the normal quark and 2-flavor color-superconducting phases occur via first order phase transitions at the same chemical potential. Moreover, an sSC phase was identified in the $ρ_{q}$, $ρ_{s}$ plane.

The Polyakov, Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model and its applications to describe the sub-nuclear particles

To study the high energy nuclear physics and the associated phenomenon, as the QGP/hadronic matter phase transition, the Nambu and Jona-Lasinio model (NJL) appears as an interesting alternative to the Quantum Chromodynamics, which is not solvable at the considered energies. Indeed, the NJL model allows describing the quarks physics, at finite temperatures and finite densities. Furthermore, in order to try to correct a limitation of the NJL model, i.e. the absence of confinement, it was proposed to couple the quarks/antiquarks to a Polyakov loop: it forms the PNJL model. The objective of this thesis is to see the possibilities offered by the NJL and PNJL models, to describe the relevant sub-nuclear particles (quarks, mesons, diquarks and baryons), to study their interactions, and to proceed to a dynamical study involving these particles.

The Nambu Jona-Lasinio Lagrangian offers an explication of the seemingly contradictory observations that a) the energy loss in the entrance channel of heavy ion reactions is not sufficient to thermalize the system and that b) the observed hadron cross sections are in almost perfect agreement with hydrodynamical calculations. According to this scenario, a critical opacity develops close to the chiral phase transition which equilibrates and hadronizes the expanding system very effectively. It creates as well radial flow and, if the system is not isotropic, finite $v_2$ values.
