RS Oph is a symbiotic recurrent nova containing a massive white dwarf with heavy mass loss during activity. In August 2021, it underwent its seventh optical eruption since the end of the 19th century. The goal of this work is to analyse the structure of the outflows from the outbursting object. Based on broad-band $U$, $B$, $V$, $R_{\rm C}$, and $I_{\rm C}$ photometry and high-resolution H$α$ spectroscopy obtained at days 11--15 of the outburst, we derived some parameters of the system's components and outflows and their changes during our observation. The effective temperature of a warm shell (pseudophotosphere) produced by the ejected material and occulting the hot component of the system was $T_{eff}=15000\pm1000$ K and the electron temperature of the nebula was $T_{e}=17000\pm3000$ K throughout the observations. The effective radius of the pseudophotosphere was $R_{ eff}=13.3\pm2.0$ R$_{\odot}$ and the emission measure of the nebula $EM=(9.50\pm0.59) $10$^{61}$ cm$^{-3}$ for day 11 and $R_{eff}=10.3\pm1.6$ R$_{\odot}$ and $EM=(5.60\pm0.35)$10$^{61}$ cm$^{-3}$ for day 15. To provide this emission measure, the bolometric luminosity of the outbursting object must exceed its Eddington limit. The mass-loss rate of the outbursting object through its wind is much greater than through its streams. The total rate (from wind + streams) was less than $(4-5)$ 10$^{-5}$ (d/1.6kpc)$^{3/2}$ M$_{\odot}$yr$^{-1}$. The streams are not highly collimated. Their mean outflowing velocities are $\upsilon_{b}=-3680\pm60$ km s$^{-1}$ for the approaching stream and $\upsilon_{r}=3520\pm50$ km s$^{-1}$ for the receding one if the orbit inclination is 50$^\circ$.

Many of observed hot Jupiters are subject to atmospheric outflows. Numerical simulations have shown that the matter esca** from the atmosphere can accumulate outside the orbit of the planet, forming a torus. In a few 10^8 yr, the mass of the torus can become large enough to exert a significant gravitational effect on the planet. Accumulation of mass, in its own turn, is hindered by the activity of the star, which leads to the photoevaporation of the torus matter. We explore the role of these and other factors in the planet's migration in the epoch when the protoplanetary disk has already disappeared. Using HD209458 system as an example, we show that the gravitational interaction with the torus leads to the possibility of migration of the planet to its observable position, starting from an orbit >= 0.3 AU.

A two dimensional numerical model in the axisymmetric approximation that describes the flow structure in the magnetosphere of the white dwarf in the EX Hya system has been developed. Results of simulations show that the accretion in EX Hya proceeds via accretion columns, that are not closed and have curtain-like shapes. The thickness of the accretion curtains depends only weakly on the thickness of the accretion disk. This thickness developed in the simulations does not agree with observations. It is concluded that the main reason for the formation of thick accretion curtains in the used model is the assumption that the magnetic field penetrates fully into the plasma of the disk. An analysis based on simple estimates shows that a diamagnetic disk that fully or partially shields the magnetic field of the star may be a more attractive explanation for the observed features of the accretion in EX Hya.

The structures of plasma flows in close binary systems whose accretors have strong intrinsic magnetic fields are studied. A close binary system with the parameters of a typical polar is considered. The results of three dimensional numerical simulations of the material flow from the donor into the accretor Roche lobe are presented. Special attention is given to the flow structure in the vicinity of the inner Lagrangian point, where the accretion flow is formed. The interaction of the accretion flow material from the envelope of the donor with the magnetic field of the accretor results in the formation of a hierarchical structure of the magnetosphere, because less dense areas of the accretion flow are captured by the magnetic field of the white dwarf earlier than more dense regions. Taking into account this kind of magnetosphere structure can affect analysis results and interpretation of the observations.

It is now established that the hot Jupiters have extensive gaseous (ionospheric) envelopes, which expanding far beyond the Roche lobe. The envelopes are weakly bound to the planet and affected by strong influence of stellar wind fluctuations. Also, the hot Jupiters are located close to the parent star and therefore the magnetic field of stellar wind is an important factor, determining the structure their magnetosphere. At the same time, for a typical hot Jupiter, the velocity of stellar wind plasma, flowing around the atmosphere, is close to the Alfvén velocity. This should result in stellar wind parameters fluctuations (density, velocity, magnetic field), that can affect the conditions of formation of bow shock waves around a hot Jupiter, i. e. to switch flow from sub-Alfvén to super-Alfvén mode and back. In this paper, based on the results of three-dimensional numerical MHD modeling, it is confirmed that in the envelope of hot Jupiter, which is in Alfvén point vicinity of the stellar wind, both disappearance and appearance of the bow shock wave occures under the action of coronal mass ejection. The paper also shows that this effect can influence the observational manifestations of hot Jupiter, including luminosity in energetic part of the spectrum.

We show that the orbits of exoplanets of the "hot Jupiter" type, as a rule, are located close to the Alfven point of the stellar wind of the parent star. At this, many hot Jupiters can be located in the sub-Alfven zone in which the magnetic pressure of the stellar wind exceeds its dynamic pressure. Therefore, magnetic field of the wind must play an extremely important role for the flow of the stellar wind around the atmospheres of the hot Jupiters. This factor must be considered both in theoretical models and in the interpretation of observational data. The analysis shows that many typical hot Jupiters should have shock-less intrinsic magnetospheres, which, apparently, do not have counterparts in the Solar System. Such magnetospheres are characterized, primarily, by the absence of the bow shock, while the magnetic barrier (ionopause) is formed by the induced currents in the upper layers of the ionosphere. We confirmed this inference by the three-dimensional numerical simulation of the flow of the parent star stellar wind around the hot Jupiter HD 209458b in which we took into account both proper magnetic field of the planet and magnetic field of the wind.

We employ a one-dimensional aeronomic model to study the reaction of the upper atmosphere of the hot Jupiter HD 209458b to the additional high-energy irradiation caused by a stellar flare. Atmospheric absorption of the additional energy produced during a flare leads to local atmospheric heating, accompanied by the formation of two propagating shock waves. We present estimates of the additional atmospheric loss occurring in response to the flare. We find the mass loss rate at the exobase level to significantly increase (3.8*10^10, 8*10^10, and 3.5*10^11 g s-1 for 10, 100, and 1000 times the high-energy flux of the quiet star, respectively) in comparison to that found considering the inactive star (2*10^10 g s-1).

We consider scenario of merger of two stellar mass black holes surrounded by an accretion disk. Due to emission of gravitational waves, the mass of the central object decreases and accretion disk experiences perturbation. Calculations show that the main consequence of this disturbance is formation of a shock wave propagating from the center of the disk to its periphery. Light curve is computed and duration of the flash is estimated under assumption that the flash terminates when the luminosity returns to the initial value.
It is shown that, if the total mass of the merging binary is 55 M_sol (like in the event GW170814), the flash produced by the shock will increase bolometric luminosity of the disk by 4--6 orders of magnitude, up to 10^{45} erg/s (absolute stellar magnitude -23.8^m). With account of the distance to the source (540 Mpc) and for reasonable assumptions on the parameters of the accretion disk, it turns out that the apparent magnitude of the flash at the maximum of the spectral flux density should be 12.8^m -- 14.2^m, while duration of the flash --- few minutes.
The main part of the shock radiation flux is emitted in the X-ray and gamma-ray ranges. In the spectral band of the EPIC instrument of the XMM-Newton observatory or the telescope eROSITA of the Spectrum-RG observatory (0.3--10 keV), luminosity will increase by 3--4 orders of magnitude, up to 10^{44} erg/s, corresponding to the apparent stellar magnitude about 17^m. Luminosity is at maximum in the observational band of the IBIS instrument of the INTEGRAL observatory (20 keV -- 10 MeV) and will be 10^{44} -- 10^{45} erg/s, corresponding to the apparent flux 10^{-4} photons per cm^2/s/keV at the wavelength ~100 keV. From the far UV to the longer wavelengths, the brightening is virtually absent.

Hot-Jupiters are subject to extreme radiation and plasma flows coming from their host stars. Past ultraviolet Hubble Space Telescope observations, supported by hydrodynamic models, confirmed that these factors lead to the formation of an extended envelope, part of which lies beyond the Roche lobe. We use gas-dynamic simulations to study the impact of time variations in the parameters of the stellar wind, namely that of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), on the envelope of the typical hot-Jupiter HD 209458b. We consider three CMEs characterized by different velocities and densities, taking their parameters from typical CMEs observed for the Sun. The perturbations in the ram-pressure of the stellar wind during the passage of each CME tear off most of the envelope that is located beyond the Roche lobe. This leads to a substantial increase of the mass-loss rates during the interaction with the CME. We find that the mass lost by the planet during the whole crossing of a CME is of ${\approx}10^{15}$ g, regardless of the CME taken into consideration. We also find that over the course of 1 Gyr, the mass lost by the planet because of CME impacts is comparable to that lost because of high-energy stellar irradiation.

Accretion disks in binary systems can experience hydrodynamic impact at inner as well as outer edges. The first case is typical for protoplanetary disks around young T Tau stars. The second one is typical for circumstellar disks in close binaries. As a result of such an impact, perturbations with different scales and amplitudes are excited in the disk. We investigated the nonlinear evolution of perturbations of a finite, but small amplitude, at the background of sub-Keplerian flow. Nonlinear effects at the front of perturbations lead to the formation of a shock wave, namely the discontinuity of the density and radial velocity. At this, the tangential flow in the neighborhood of the shock becomes equivalent to the flow in in the boundary layer. Instability of the tangential flow further leads to turbulization of the disk. Characteristics of the turbulence depend on perturbation parameters, but alpha-parameter of Shakura-Sunyaev does not exceed ~0.1.

High-resolution observations in the region, centered at 4400 Å and those of the lines HeII 4686, Hbeta and HeI 6678 of the spectrum of the symbiotic binary Z And were performed during its outburst in 2006. The line Hbeta had additional satellite high-velocity emission components situated on either side of its central peak. The lines of neutral helium presented two components, consisting of a nebular emission situated close to the reference wavelength and a highly variable P Cyg absorption. Close to the optical maximum the line HeII 4686 was weak emission feature, but with the fading of the light it changed into an intensive emission consisting of a central narrow component and a broad component with a low intensity. The lines of NIII and CIII were very broadened. We demonstrate that all of these groups of lines with very different profiles can be interpreted in the light of the same model, where a disc-shaped material surrounding the compact object collimates its stellar wind and gives rise to bipolar outflow.

The results of three-dimensional numerical simulations of the gas dynamics of the atmosphere of a "hot Jupiter" exoplanet during the passage of a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the central star are presented. These computations assumed the parameters for the stellar wind and the CME to be typical of the solar values. The characteristic variations of the flow pattern are considered for quasi-closed and closed (but appreciably distorted by the gravitational influence of the star) gaseous envelopes of the exoplanet. It is shown that a typical CME is sufficient to tear off the outer part of an asymmetric envelope that is located beyond the Roche lobe and carry it away from the exoplanet. This leads to a substantial increase in the mass-loss rate from the exoplanet envelope during the passage of CMEs. The mass-loss rate grows by about a factor of 11 for a closed envelope, and by about a factor of 14 for a quasi-closed envelope. Possible evolutionary consequences of the loss of part of the atmosphere during the passage of CMEs are discussed.

According to the computations results obtained by Bisikalo et al. (2013b) for the gas-dynamical effect of stellar winds on exoplanet atmospheres, three types of gaseous envelopes can form around hot Jupiters: closed, quasi-closed, and open. The type of envelope that forms depends on the position of the frontal collision point (where the dynamical pressure of the wind is equal to the pressure of the surrounding atmosphere) relative to the Roche-lobe boundaries. Closed envelopes are formed around planets whose atmospheres lie completely within their Roche lobes. If the frontal collision point is located outside the Roche lobe, the atmospheric material begins to flow out through the Lagrangian points $\mathrm{L_1}$ and $\mathrm{L_2}$, which can result in the formation of quasi-closed (if the dynamical pressure of the stellar wind stops the outflow through $\mathrm{L_1}$) or open gaseous envelopes. The example of the typical hot Jupiter HD 209458 b is considered for four sets of atmospheric parameters, to determine the mass-loss rates for the different types of envelopes arising with these parameters. The mass-loss rates based on the modeling results were estimated to be $\dot{M} \leq 10^{9}$ g/s for a closed atmosphere, $\dot{M} \simeq 3 \times 10^{9}$ g/s for a quasi-closed atmosphere, and $\dot{M} \simeq 3 \times 10^{10}$ g/s for an open atmosphere. The matter in the closed and quasi-closed atmospheres flows out mainly through $\mathrm{L_2}$, and the matter in open envelopes primarily through $\mathrm{L_1}$.

The main example considered is the AE Aquarii system; the spin period of the white dwarf is about a factor of 1000 shorter than the orbital period, and the magnetic field on the white dwarf surface is of order of 50 MG. The mass transfer in this system was analyzed via numerical solution of the system of MHD equations. These computations show that the magnetic field of the white dwarf does not significantly influence the velocity field of the material in its Roche lobe in the case of laminar flow regime, so that the field does not hinder the formation of a transient disk (ring) surrounding the magnetosphere. However, the efficiency of the energy and angular momentum exchange between the white dwarf and the surrounding material increases considerably with the development of turbulent motions in the matter, resulting in its acceleration at the magnetospheric boundary and further escape from the system at a high rate. The time scales of the transition of the system between the laminar and turbulent modes are close to those of the AE\,Aqr transition between its quiet and active phases.

A three-dimensional numerical model for an accretion process investigation in the magnetosphere of a white dwarf in magnetic cataclysmic variables is developed. The model assumes that the white dwarf has a dipole magnetic field with its symmetry axis inclined to the rotation axis. The model is based on the equations of modified MHD, that describe the mean flow parameters in the wave MHD turbulence. Diffusion of the magnetic field and radiative heating and cooling are taken into account. The suitability of the model is confirmed by modeling the accretion in a typical intermediate polar. The computations show that a magnetosphere forms around the accretor, with the accretion occurring via columns. The accretion columns have a curtain-like shape, and arc-shaped zones of energy release form on the surface of the white dwarf in the magnetic poles area as a result of the matter infall.

The optical light of the symbiotic binary BF Cygni during its last eruption after 2006 shows orbital variations because of an eclipse of the outbursting compact object. The first orbital minimum is deeper than the following ones. Moreover, the Balmer profiles of this system acquired additional satellite components indicating bipolar collimated outflow at one time between the first and second orbital minima. This behaviour is interpreted in the framework of the model of collimated stellar wind from the outbursting object. It is supposed that one extended disc-like envelope covering the accretion disc of the compact object and collimating its stellar wind forms in the period between the first and second minima. The uneclipsed part of this envelope is responsible for the decrease of the depth of the orbital minimum. The calculated $UBVR_{C}I_{C}$ fluxes of this uneclipsed part are in agreement with the observed residual of the depths of the first and second orbital minima. The parameters of the envelope require that it is the main emitting region of the line H$α$ but the H$α$ profile is less determined from its rotation and mostly from other mechanisms. It is concluded that the envelope is a transient nebular region and its destruction determines the increase of the depth of the orbital minimum with fading of the optical light.

Exoplanet science is now in its full expansion, particularly after the CoRoT and Kepler space missions that led us to the discovery of thousands of extra-solar planets. The last decade has taught us that UV observations play a major role in advancing our understanding of planets and of their host stars, but the necessary UV observations can be carried out only by HST, and this is going to be the case for many years to come. It is therefore crucial to build a treasury data archive of UV exoplanet observations formed by a dozen "golden systems" for which observations will be available from the UV to the infrared. Only in this way we will be able to fully exploit JWST observations for exoplanet science, one of the key JWST science case.

The arising of turbulence in gas-dynamic (non-magnetic) accretion disks is a major issue of modern astrophysics. Such accretion disks should be stable against the turbulence generation, in contradiction to observations. Searching for possible instabilities leading to the turbulization of gas-dynamic disks is one of the challenging astrophysical problems. In 2004, we showed that in accretion disks in binary stars the so-called precessional density wave forms and induces additional density and velocity gradients in the disk. Linear analysis of the fluid instability of an accretion disk in a binary system revealed that the presence of the precessional wave in the disk due to tidal interaction with the binary companion gives rise to instability of radial modes with the characteristic growth time of tenths and hundredths of the binary orbital period. The radial velocity gradient in the precessional wave is shown to be responsible for the instability. A perturbation becomes unstable if the velocity variation the perturbation wavelength scale is about or higher than the sound speed. Unstable perturbations arise in the inner part of the disk and, by propagating towards its outer edge, lead to the disk turbulence with parameters corresponding to observations (the Shakura-Sunyaev parameter $α\lesssim 0.01$).

As a rule, the orbital velocities of "hot Jupiters," i.e., exoplanets with masses comparable to the mass of Jupiter and orbital semi-major axes less than 0.1 AU, are supersonic relative to the stellar wind, resulting in the formation of a bow shock. Gas-dynamical modeling shows that the gaseous envelopes around "hot Jupiters" can belong to two classes, depending on the position of the collision point. if the collision point is inside the Roche lobe of the planet, the envelopes have the almost spherical shapes of classical atmospheres, slightly distorted by the influence of the star and interactions with the stellar-wind gas; if the collision point is located outside the Roche lobe, outflows from the vicinity of the Lagrangian points $\mathrm L_1$ and $\mathrm L_2$ arise, and the envelope becomes substantially asymmetrical. The latter class of objects can also be divided into two types. If the dynamical pressure of the stellar-wind gas is high enough to stop the most powerful outflow from the vicinity of the inner Lagrangian point $\mathrm L_1$, a closed quasi-spherical envelope with a complex shape forms in the system. If the wind is unable to stop the outflow from $\mathrm L_1$, an open aspherical envelope forms. The possible existence of atmospheres of these three types is confirmed by 3D numerical modeling. Using the typical "hot Jupiter" HD 209458b as an example, it is shown that all three types of atmospheres could exist within the range of estimated parameters of this planet. Since different types of envelopes have different observational manifestations, determining the type of envelope in HD 209458b could apply additional constrains on the parameters of this exoplanet.

A new non-dissipative mechanism is proposed for the saturation of the axisymmetric magnetorotational (MRI) instability in thin Keplerian disks that are subject to an axial magnetic field. That mechanism relies on the energy transfer from the MRI to stable magnetosonic (MS) waves. Such mode interaction is enabled due to the vertical stratification of the disk that results in the discretization of its MRI spectrum, as well as by applying the appropriate boundary conditions. A second order Duffing-like amplitude equation for the initially unstable MRI modes is derived. The solutions of that equation exhibit bursty nonlinear oscillations with a constant amplitude that signifies the saturation level of the MRI. Those results are verified by a direct numerical solution of the full nonlinear reduced set of thin disk magnetohydrodynamics equations.

We performed 3D MHD calculations of stream accretion in cataclysmic variable stars for which the white dwarf primary star possesses a strong and complex magnetic field. These calculations are motivated by observations of polars; cataclysmic variables containing white dwarfs with magnetic fields sufficiently strong to prevent the formation of an accretion disk. So an accretion stream flows from the L1 point and impacts directly onto one or more spots on the surface of the white dwarf. Observations indicate that the white dwarf, in some binaries, possesses a complex (non-dipolar) magnetic field. We perform simulations of 10 polars or equivalently one asynchronous polar at 10 different beat phases. Our models have an aligned dipole plus quadrupole magnetic field centered on the white dwarf primary. We find that for a sufficiently strong quadrupole component an accretion spot occurs near the magnetic equator for slightly less than half of our simulations while a polar accretion zone is active for most of the rest of the simulations. For one or two configurations; accretion at the dominant polar region and at an equatorial zone occurs simultaneously. These are the first 3D MHD calculations to confirm the existence of complex magnetic fields in magnetic CVs. We conclude, that it might be difficult observationally determine if the field is a pure dipole or if it is complex for polars, but there will be indications for some systems. Specifically, a complex magnetic field should be considered if the there is an accretion zone near the white dwarf's spin equator (orbital plane) or if there are two or more accretion regions that cannot be fit by a dipole magnetic field. For asynchronous polars, magnetic field constraints are expected to be substantially stronger, with clearer indicators of complex field geometry due to changes in accretion flow structure as a function of spin-orbit beat phase.

Our previous gas-dynamical studies of mass transfer in close binaries indicate that, for hot disks (with temperatures for the outer parts of the disk of several hundred thousand K), the interaction between the stream from the inner Lagrange point and the disk is shockless. To study the morphology of the interaction between the stream and a cool accretion disk, we carried out three-dimensional modeling of the flow structure in a binary for the case when the gas temperature in the outer parts of the forming disk does not exceed 13600 K. The flow pattern indicates that the interaction is again shockless. The computations provide evidence that, as is the case for hot disks, the zone of enhanced energy release (the "hot line") is located beyond the disk, and originates due to the interaction between the circum-disk halo and the stream.

The angular separation of the binary components was 1.448"{\pm}0.005 and the position angle of the system was 255.9°{\pm}0.3° at the observation epoch (JD 2 454 255.9). We find using published data that these values have been changing with mean rates of +0.002"/yr and +0.02°/yr, respectively, over the past 70 years. This implies that the direction of the orbital motion of the binary system is opposite to the direction of the disk rotation in RW Aur A. We propose a physical model to explain the formation of circumstellar accretion disks rotating in the reverse direction relative to young binary stars surrounded by protoplanetary disks. Our model can explain the characteristic features of the matter flow in RW Aur A: the high accretion rate, small size of the disk around the massive component, and reverse direction of rotation.

The supersonic orbital motion of the system components in the envelope gas leads to the formation of bow shocks around the star. Two- and three-dimensional numerical modeling indicates an important role of these shocks in the formation of the structure of the circumbinary envelope. In particular, for systems with circular orbits, the size of the central region of the envelope that is not filled with matter (the gap) is essentially determined by the parameters of the bow shocks. These modeling results are supported by comparisons of the obtained estimates for the gap parameters with observations.

High-resolution spectra obtained during the first and fourth outburst, which was the strongest one, have been analyzed. These data are compared with results of theoretical computations. The comparison provides information about the behaviour of the system during the entire active phase rather than during an individual outburst. In particular it was found fundamental difference between the first outburst, which opened the active phase, and the recurrent outbursts - namely, the presence of bipolar collimated optical outflow during some of the recurrent outbursts. A scenario that can explain all the spectroscopic phenomena observed during this active phase as well as previous active phases of Z And is proposed. The possibility to use this scenario for explanation of the line spectrum of other classical symbiotic stars during their active phases is motivated.

In Montgomery (2009a), we show that accretion discs in binary systems could retrogradely precess by tidal torques like the Moon and the Sun on a tilted, spinning, non-spherical Earth. In addition, we show that the state of matter and the geometrical shape of the celestial object could significantly affect the precessional value. For example, a Cataclysmic Variable (CV) Dwarf Novae (DN) non-magnetic system that shows negative superhumps in its light curve can be described by a retrogradely precessing, differentially rotating, tilted disc. Because the disc is a fluid and because the gas stream overflows the tilted disc and particles can migrate into inner disc annuli, coupled to the disc could be a retrogradely precessing inner ring that is located near the innermost annuli of the disc. However, numerical simulations by Bisikalo et al. (2003, 2004) and this work show that an inner spiral density wave can be generated instead of an inner ring. Therefore, we show that retrograde precession in non-magnetic, spinning, tilted CV DN systems can equally be described by a retrogradely precessing and differentially rotating disc with an attached retrogradely precessing inner spiral density wave so long as the wave appears at the same radius as the ring and within the plane of the tilted disc. We find that the theoretical results generated in this work agree well with the theoretical results presented in Montgomery (2009a) and thus with the numerical simulations and select CV DN systems in Montgomery (2009b) that may have a main sequence secondary. Therefore, pressure effects do need to be considered in CV DN systems that exhibit negative superhumps if the accretion discs are tilted and have an inner spiral density wave that is in the plane of the disc.

We have developed a three-dimensional numerical model and applied it to simulate plasma flows in semi-detached binary systems whose accretor possesses a strong intrinsic magnetic field. The model is based on the assumption that the plasma dynamics are determined by the slow mean flow, which forms a backdrop for the rapid propagation of MHD waves. The equations describing the slow motion of matter were obtained by averaging over rapidly propagating pulsations. The numerical model includes the diffusion of magnetic field by current dissipation in turbulent vortices, magnetic buoyancy, and wave MHD turbulence. A modified three-dimensional, parallel, numerical code was used to simulate the flow structure in close binary systems with various accretor magnetic fields, from $10^5$ to $10^8$ G. The conditions for the formation of the accretion disk and the criteria distinguishing the two types of flow corresponding to intermediate polars and polars are discussed.

The results of three-dimensional MHD numerical simulations are used to investigate the characteristic properties of the magnetic-field structures in the accretion disks of semi-detached binary systems. It is assumed that the intrinsic magnetic field of the accretor star is dipolar. Turbulent diffusion of the magnetic field in the disk is taken into account. The SS Cyg system is considered as an example. The results of the numerical simulations show the intense generation of a predominantly toroidal magnetic field in the accretion disk. Magnetic zones with well defined structures for the toroidal magnetic field form in the disk, which are separated by current sheets in which there is magnetic reconnection and current dissipation. Possible observational manifestations of such structures are discussed. It is shown that the interaction of a spiral precessional wave with the accretor's magnetosphere could lead to quasi-periodic oscillations of the accretion rate.

High resolution observations in the region of the lines Halpha, He II 4686 and Hgamma of the spectrum of the symbiotic binary Z And were performed during its small-amplitude brightening at the end of 2002. The profiles of the hydrogen lines were double-peaked. These profiles give a reason to suppose that the lines can be emitted mainly by an optically thin accretion disc. The Halpha line is strongly contaminated by the emission of the envelope, therefore for consideration of accretion disc properties we use the Hgamma line. The Halpha line had broad wings which are supposed to be determined mostly from radiation dam** but high velocity stellar wind from the compact object in the system can also contribute to their appearance. The Hgamma line had a broad emission component which is assumed to be emitted mainly from the inner part of the accretion disc. The line He II 4686 had a broad emission component too, but it is supposed to appear in a region of a high velocity stellar wind. The outer radius of the accretion disc can be calculated from the shift between the peaks. Assuming, that the orbit inclination can ranges from 47$^\circ$ to 76$^\circ$, we estimate the outer radius as 20 - 50 R_sun. The behaviour of the observed lines can be considered in the framework of the model proposed for interpretation of the line spectrum during the major 2000 - 2002 brightening of this binary.

The results of 3D modelling of the flow structure in the classical symbiotic system Z~Andromedae are presented. Outbursts in systems of this type occur when the accretion rate exceeds the upper limit of the steady burning range. Therefore, in order to realize the transition from a quiescent to an active state it is necessary to find a mechanism able to sufficiently increase the accretion rate on a time scale typical to the duration of outburst development.
Our calculations have confirmed the transition mechanism from quiescence to outburst in classic symbiotic systems suggested earlier on the basis of 2D calculations (Bisikalo et al, 2002). The analysis of our results have shown that for wind velocity of 20 km/s an accretion disc forms in the system. The accretion rate for the solution with the disc is ~22.5-25% of the mass loss rate of the donor, that is, ~4.5-5*10^(-8)Msun/yr for Z And. This value is in agreement with the steady burning range for white dwarf masses typically accepted for this system. When the wind velocity increases from 20 to 30 km/s the accretion disc is destroyed and the matter of the disc falls onto the accretor's surface. This process is followed by an approximately twofold accretion rate jump. The resulting accretion rate growth is sufficient for passing the upper limit of the steady burning range, thereby bringing the system into an active state. The time during which the accretion rate is above the steady burning value is in a very good agreement with observations.
The analysis of the results presented here allows us to conclude that small variations in the donor's wind velocity can lead to the transition from the disc accretion to the wind accretion and, as a consequence, to the transition from quiescent to active state in classic symbiotic stars.

A thickening at the outer edge of the accretion disk is usually invoked to explain the dips in the light curves of cataclysmic variables with stationary disks at phases ~0.7. The non-collisional interaction between the stream and the disk in the stationary solution raises the question of why matter appears at a considerable height above the accretion disk in such systems. Our three-dimensional numerical modeling demonstrates that a thickening of the halo above the disk can appear even in the absence of a direct collision between the stream and the disk. In the gas-dynamical flow pattern described with the "hot-line" model, a considerable fraction of the matter is accelerated in the vertical direction during the flow's interaction with the circumdisk halo. The vertical motion of the gas due to the presence of the z component of the velocity leads to a gradual thickening of the circumdisk halo. The computations reveal the strongest thickening of the halo above the outer edge of the disk at phases ~0.7, in agreement with observations for stationary-disk cataclysmic variables. This supports the hot-line model suggested earlier as a description of the pattern of the matter flows in semi-detached binaries, and presents new possibilities for interpreting the light curves of such systems.

A new mechanism explaining superoutbursts in binaries of SU UMa type is proposed. In the framework of this mechanism the accretion rate increase leading to the superoutburst is associated with formation of a spiral wave of a new "precessional" type in inner gasdynamically unperturbed parts of the accretion disc. The possibility of existence of this type of waves was suggested in our previous work (astro-ph/0403053). The features of the "precessional" spiral wave allow explaining both the energy release during the outburst and all its observational manifestations. The distinctive characteristic of a superoutburst in a SU UMa type star is the appearance of the superhump on the light curve. The proposed model reproduces well the formation of the superhump as well as its observational features, such as the period that is 3-7% longer than the orbital one and the detectability of superhumps regardless of the binary inclination.

We argue the possible existence of one more type of spiral density waves in the inner part of the disc where gasdynamical perturbations are negligible. The mechanism of formation of such a wave as well as its parameters are considered. We also present the results of 3D gasdynamical simulation of cool accretion discs. These results confirm the hypothesis of possible formation of the spiral wave of a new, "precessional" type in the inner regions of the disc. Possible observational manifestations of this wave are discussed.

Results of calculations of the flow structure in binary systems with mass exchange driven by stellar wind are presented. 2D simulations have been carried out using the Roe-Oscher scheme. The fine grid we used allowed us to detect the details of the flow structure. In particular, it was found out that solutions with the wind velocity V of the order of the orbital velocity of the system Vs are unstable: in solutions with V<Vs -- the steady accretion disk takes place and if V>Vs -- the cone shock forms. Consideration of the minor variations of the wind velocity V around Vs shows that they can influence greatly the flow structure causing transition from disk accretion to the accretion from the flow. During the flow rearrangement period (the accretion disk destruction) the accretion rate increases in dozens times for a short time (~0.1 of the orbital period of the system). This change can result in the drop-off of the gas from the accretor that is usually associated with activity in these systems.

We present synthetic Doppler maps of gaseous flows in binary IP Peg based on the results of 3D gasdynamical simulations. Using of gasdynamical calculations alongside with the Doppler tomography technique permits us to identify the main features of the flow on the Doppler maps without solution of an ill-posed inverse problem. Comparison of synthetic tomograms with observations shows that in quiescence there are two zones of high emission: a shock wave on the edge of the stream from L_1 caused by the interaction of the gas of circumbinary envelope and the stream, and the dense region in a apoastron of quasi-elliptical accretion disk. A single arm of the spiral shock and the stream itself give a minor input to the total brightness. During outburst the accretion disk dominates, and the most emitive regions are the two arms of the spiral shock.

The results of three-dimensional numerical simulations of mass transfer in binaries with spiral shocks are presented. It is shown that the mass transfer rate variation disturbs the equilibrium state of accretion disk and results in formation of the blob. This dense formation moves on the disk with variable velocity. The results of our simulations show that the blob lives long enough and retains its main characteristics for the time of order of tens orbital periods. Analysis of the results shows that the action of dissipation is negligible on these timescales and the blob smearing out due to differential rotation of the disk is stopped by its interaction with spiral shocks.
Light curves of some CVs show periodic or quasi-periodic photometric modulations with typical period 0.1-0.2P_orb. We suggest to consider the formation of the blob in binaries with spiral shocks as a possible reason for these modulations. The efficiency of this mechanism is confirmed by good qualitative (and, in part, quantitative) agreement between the results of our simulations and observations of binaries IP Peg and EX Dra.

The results of three-dimensional numerical simulations of mass transfer in semidetached binaries after mass transfer termination is presented and the structure of residual accretion disk was investigated. It was shown that after the mass transfer termination the quasi-elliptic accretion disk becomes circular. It was also shown that the cessation of mass transfer results in changing of the structure of the accretion disk: the second arm of spiral shock is appeared as well as a new dense formation (blob), the latter moving through the disk with variable velocity. The blob doesn't smear out under the action of dissipation but is sustained by interaction with arms of spiral shock for practically all the lifetime of the disk.
We also analyze the dependence of disk's lifetime on the value of viscosity. For the value of parameter $α$ that is typical for observing accretion disk ($α\sim0.01$) the lifetime of residual disk is found to be equal to 50 orbital periods.

If included into consideration in evolutionary calculations, this mechanism appreciably extends the range of mass ratios of components for which mass exchange in binaries is stable. It becomes possible to explain the existence of some observed cataclysmic binaries with high donor/accretor mass ratio, which was prohibited in conservative evolution models.

Characteristic features of the flow in this model, such as the formation of an circumbinary envelope, the absence of a `hot spot' at the edge of the accretion disk, and the formation of a shock wave along the edge of the stream, are also present in the solution for a binary with precessing donor star. The parameters of accretion disk and of the structure of the near-disk regions recur with the precessional period of the rotation axis of donor star.
