In this paper, we introduce a new category of map**s within metric spaces, specifically focusing on three-point analogs of the well-established Chatterjea type map**s. We demonstrate that Chatterjea type map**s and their three-point analogs are different classes of map**s. A fixed point theorem for generalized Chatterjea type map**s is established. It is shown that these map**s are continuous at fixed point. Connections between generalized Chatterjea type map**s, generalized Kannan type map**s, Chatterjea type map**s, and map**s contracting perimeters of triangles are found. Additionally, we derive two fixed point theorems for generalized Chatterjea type map**s in metric spaces, even when completeness is not mandatory.

It is shown that in general case such map**s are discontinuous but continuous at fixed points as well as Kannan type map**s and that these two classes of map**s are independent. The fixed-point theorem for generalized Kannan type map**s is proved. Additional conditions of asymptotic regularity and continuity allow us to extent the class of map**s for which the fixed-point theorems hold. Following Kannan, we also obtain two other fixed-point theorems for generalized Kannan type map**s in metric spaces which are not obligatory complete.

Fuzzy time series forecasting methods are very popular among researchers for predicting future values as they are not based on the strict assumptions of traditional time series forecasting methods. Non-stochastic methods of fuzzy time series forecasting are preferred by the researchers as they provide more significant forecasting results. There are generally, four factors that determine the performance of the forecasting method (1) number of intervals (NOIs) and length of intervals to partition universe of discourse (UOD) (2) fuzzification rules or feature representation of crisp time series (3) method of establishing fuzzy logic rule (FLRs) between input and target values (4) defuzzification rule to get crisp forecasted value. Considering the first two factors to improve the forecasting accuracy, we proposed a novel non-stochastic method fuzzy time series forecasting in which interval index number and membership value are used as input features to predict future value. We suggested a simple rounding-off range and suitable step size method to find the optimal number of intervals (NOIs) and used fuzzy c-means clustering process to divide UOD into intervals of unequal length. We implement support vector machine (SVM) to establish FLRs. To test our proposed method we conduct a simulated study on five widely used real time series and compare the performance with some recently developed models. We also examine the performance of the proposed model by using multi-layer perceptron (MLP) instead of SVM. Two performance measures RSME and SMAPE are used for performance analysis and observed better forecasting accuracy by the proposed model.

Bacteria living on surfaces use different types of motility mechanisms to move on the surface in search of food or to form micro-colonies. Twitching is one such form of motility employed by bacteria such as N. gonorrhoeae, in which the polymeric extensions known as type IV pili mediate its movement. Pili extending from cell body adheres to the surface and pulls the bacteria by retraction. The bacterial movement is decided by the two-dimensional tug-of-war between the pili attached to the surface. Natural surfaces in which these micro-crawlers dwell are generally spatially inhomogeneous and have varying surface properties. Their motility is known to be affected by the topography of the surfaces. Therefore, it is possible to control bacterial movement by designing structured surfaces which can be potentially utilized for controlling biofilm architecture. In this paper, we numerically investigate the twitching motility in a two-dimensional corrugated channel. The bacterial movement is simulated by two different models: (a) a detailed tug-of-war model which extensively describe the twitching motility of bacteria assisted by pili and (b) a coarse-grained run-and-tumble model which depicts the motion of wide-ranging self-propelled particles. The simulation of bacterial motion through asymmetric corrugated channels using the above models show rectification. The bacterial transport depends on the geometric parameters of the channel and inherent system parameters such as persistence length and self-propelled velocity. In particular, the variation of the particle current with the geometric parameters of the micro-channels show that one can optimize the particle current for specific values of these parameters.

We focus on a dilute uniform suspension of magnetic nanoparticles in a nematic-filled micron-sized shallow well with tangent boundary conditions, as a paradigm system with two coupled order parameters. This system exhibits spontaneous magnetization without magnetic fields. We numerically obtain the stable nematic and associated magnetization morphologies, induced purely by the geometry, boundary conditions and the coupling between the magnetic nanoparticles and the host nematic medium. Our most striking observations pertain to domain walls in the magnetization profile whose location can be manipulated by the coupling and material properties, and stable interior and boundary nematic defects, whose location and multiplicity can be tailored by the coupling too. These novel morphologies are not accessible in uncoupled systems and can be used for new multistable systems with singularities and stable interfaces.

We study a ferromagnetic suspension or a suspension of magnetic nanoparticles in an anisotropic nematic medium, in three different one-dimensional variational settings, ordered in terms of increasing complexity. The three models are featured by a nematic energy, a magnetic energy and a magneto-nematic coupling energy and the experimentally observed patterns are modelled as local or global energy minimizers. We numerically observe polydomains with distinct states of magnetization for weak to moderate magneto-nematic coupling in our models. We demonstrate that these polydomains are stabilised by lowering the temperature (as in Mertelj et al., 2013) and that the polydomain structures lose stability as the magneto-nematic coupling increases. Some exact solutions for prototypical situations are also obtained.

A human pathogen, \textit{Neisseria gonorrhoeae} (NG), moves on surfaces by attaching and retracting polymeric structures called Type IV pili. The \textit{tug-of-war} between the pili results in a two-dimensional stochastic motion called \textit{twitching motility}. In this paper, with the help of real time NG trajectories, we develop coarse-grained models for their description. The \textit{fractal properties} of these trajectories are determined and their influence on \textit{first passage time} and formation of bacterial microcolonies is studied. Our main observations are as follows: (i) NG performs a fast ballistic walk on small time scales and a slow diffusive walk over long time scales with a long crossover region; (ii) There exists a characteristic persistent length $l_p^*$ which yields the fastest growth of bacterial aggregates or biofilms. Our simulations reveal that $l_{p}^{*} \sim L^{0.6}$, where $L\times L$ is the surface on which the bacteria move; (iii) The morphologies have distinct fractal characteristics as a consequence of the ballistic and diffusive motion of the constituting bacteria.

Aim of the searcher is to get most relevant results immaterial of how the query has been expressed. In the present paper, we have examined the results of search engine for change in coverage and similarity of first few results when a query is entered in two semantically same but in different formats. Searching has been made through Google search engine. Fifteen pairs of queries have been chosen for the study. The t-test has been used for the purpose and the results have been checked on the basis of total documents found, similarity of first five and first ten documents found in the results of a query entered in two different formats. It has been found that the total coverage is same but first few results are significantly different.

The system does not show any memory effects which is in sharp contrast to the usual behavior shown by other antiferromagnetic nanoparticles. It turns out that the nature of CuO nanoparticles is very strange and is neither superparamagnetic nor spin glass-like .

Collocations are important for many tasks of Natural language processing such as information retrieval, machine translation, computational lexicography etc. So far many statistical methods have been used for collocation extraction. Almost all the methods form a classical crisp set of collocation. We propose a fuzzy logic approach of collocation extraction to form a fuzzy set of collocations in which each word combination has a certain grade of membership for being collocation. Fuzzy logic provides an easy way to express natural language into fuzzy logic rules. Two existing methods; Mutual information and t-test have been utilized for the input of the fuzzy inference system. The resulting membership function could be easily seen and demonstrated. To show the utility of the fuzzy logic some word pairs have been examined as an example. The working data has been based on a corpus of about one million words contained in different novels constituting project Gutenberg available on www.gutenberg.org. The proposed method has all the advantages of the two methods, while overcoming their drawbacks. Hence it provides a better result than the two methods.
