The anomalous Nernst effect generates transverse voltage to the applied thermal gradient in magnetically ordered systems. The effect was previously considered excluded in compensated magnetic materials with collinear ordering. However, in the recently identified class of compensated magnetic materials, dubbed altermagnets, time-reversal symmetry breaking in the electronic band structure makes the presence of the anomalous Nernst effect possible despite the collinear spin arrangement. In this work, we investigate epitaxial Mn5Si3 thin films known to be an altermagnetic candidate. We show that the material manifests a sizable anomalous Nernst coefficient despite the small net magnetization of the films. The measured magnitudes of the anomalous Nernst coefficient reach a scale of microVolts per Kelvin. We support our magneto-thermoelectric measurements by density-functional theory calculations of the material's spin-split electronic structure, which allows for the finite Berry curvature in the reciprocal space. Furthermore, we present our calculations of the intrinsic Berry-curvature Nernst conductivity, which agree with our experimental observations.

Magnetic vortices are topological spin structures frequently found in ferromagnets, yet novel to antiferromagnets. By combining experiment and theory, we demonstrate that in a nanostructured antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic NiO(111)-Fe(110) bilayer, a magnetic vortex is naturally stabilized by magnetostatic interactions in the ferromagnet and is imprinted onto the adjacent antiferromagnet via interface exchange coupling. We use micromagnetic simulations to construct a corresponding phase diagram of the stability of the imprinted antiferromagnetic vortex state. Our in depth analysis reveals that the interplay between interface exchange coupling and the antiferromagnet magnetic anisotropy plays a crucial role in locally reorienting the Néel vector out-of-plane in the prototypical in-plane antiferromagnet NiO and thereby stabilizing the vortices in the antiferromagnet.

Topological semimetal antiferromagnets provide a rich source of exotic topological states which can be controlled by manipulating the orientation of the Néel vector, or by modulating the lattice parameters through strain. We investigate via ${ab\ initio}$ density functional theory calculations, the effects of shear strain on the bulk and surface states n two antiferromagnetic EuCd$_2$As$_2$ phases with out-of-plane and in-plane spin configurations. When magnetic moments are along the $\textit{c}$-axis, a $3\%$ longitudinal or diagonal shear strain can tune the Dirac semimetal phase to an axion insulator phase, characterized by the parity-based invariant $η_{4I} = 2$. For an in-plane magnetic order, the axion insulator phase remains robust under all shear strains. We further find that for both magnetic orders, the bulk gap increases and a surface gap opens on the (001) surface up to 16 meV. Because of a nonzero $η_{4I}$ index and gapped states on the (001) surface, hinge modes are expected to happen on the side surface states between those gapped surface states. This result can provide a valuable insight in the realization of the long-sought axion states.

Altermagnetism represents an emergent collinear magnetic phase with compensated order and an unconventional alternating even-parity wave spin order in the non-relativistic band structure. We investigate directly this unconventional band splitting near the Fermi energy through spinintegrated soft X-ray angular resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The experimentally obtained angle-dependent photoemission intensity, acquired from epitaxial thin films of the predicted altermagnet CrSb, demonstrates robust agreement with the corresponding band structure calculations. In particular, we observe the distinctive splitting of an electronic band on a low-symmetry path in the Brilliouin zone that connects two points featuring symmetry-induced degeneracy. The measured large magnitude of the spin splitting of approximately 0.6 eV and the position of the band just below the Fermi energy underscores the signifcance of altermagnets for spintronics based on robust broken time reversal symmetry responses arising from exchange energy scales, akin to ferromagnets, while remaining insensitive to external magnetic fields and possessing THz dynamics, akin to antiferromagnets.

Altermagnets are compensated magnets with unconventional $d$, $g$, and $i$-wave spin order in reciprocal space. So far the search for new altermagnetic candidates has been focused on materials in which the magnetic unit cell is identical to the non-magnetic one, i.e. magnetic structures with zero propagation vector. Here, we substantially broaden the family of altermagnetic candidates by predicting supercell altermagnets. Their magnetic unit cell is constructed by enlarging the nonmagnetic primitive unit cell, resulting in a non-zero propagation vector for the magnetic structure. This connection of the magnetic configuration to the ordering of sublattices gives an extra degree of freedom to supercell altermagnets, which can allow for the control over the order parameter spatial orientation. We identify realistic candidates MnSe$_2$ with a $d$-wave order, and RbCoBr$_3$, CsCoCr$_3$, and BaMnO$_3$ with $g$-wave order. We demonstrate the reorientation of the order parameter in MnSe$_2$, which has two different magnetic configurations, whose energy difference is only 5 meV, opening the possibility of controlling the orientation of the altermagnetic order parameter by external perturbations.

The ever-growing demand for device miniaturization and energy efficiency in data storage and computing technology has prompted a shift towards antiferromagnetic (AFM) topological spin textures as information carriers, owing to their negligible stray fields, leading to possible high device density and potentially ultrafast dynamics. We realize, in this work, such chiral in-plane (IP) topological antiferromagnetic spin textures, namely merons, antimerons, and bimerons in synthetic antiferromagnets by concurrently engineering the effective perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, the interlayer exchange coupling, and the magnetic compensation ratio. We demonstrate by three-dimensional vector imaging of the Néel order parameter, the topology of those spin textures and reveal globally a well-defined chirality, which is a crucial requirement for controlled current-induced dynamics. Our analysis reveals that the interplay between interlayer exchange and interlayer magnetic dipolar interactions plays a key role in significantly reducing the critical strength of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction required to stabilize topological spin textures, such as AFM merons, making synthetic antiferromagnets a promising platform for next-generation spintronics applications.

In this work we study a non-flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe filled with a pressure-less dark matter (DM) and Barrow holographic dark energy (BHDE) whose IR cutoff is the apparent horizon. Among various DE models, (BHDE) model shows the dynamical enthusiasm to discuss the universe's transition phase. According to the new research, the universe transitioned smoothly from a decelerated to an accelerated period of expansion in the recent past. We exhibit that the development of $q$ relies upon the type of spatial curvature. Here we study the equation of state (EoS) parameter for the BHDE model to determine the cosmological evolution for the non-flat universe. The (EoS) parameter and the deceleration parameter (DP) shows a satisfactory behaviour, it does not cross the the phantom line. We also plot the statefinder diagram to characterize the properties of the BHDE model by taking distinct values of barrow exponent $\triangle$. Moreover, we likewise noticed the BHDE model in the $(ω_{D}-ω_{D}^{'})$ plane, which can furnish us with a valuable, powerful finding to the mathematical determination of the statefinder. In the statefinder trajectory, this model was found to be able to reach the $ΛCDM$ fixed point.

We study the emergence and dynamics of in-plane skyrmions in collinear ferromagnetic heterostructures. We present a minimal energy model for this class of magnetic textures, determine the crystal symmetries compatible with it and propose material candidates, based on symmetries only, for the observation of these topological solitons. We calculate exact solutions of the energy model for in-plane skyrmions in the absence of dipolar interactions at critical coupling, the latter defined by the relations $H = K$ and $D = \sqrt{AK}$ for the strength of the external magnetic field and the Dzyaloshinskii coupling constant, respectively, with $K$ and $A$ being the anisotropy constant and the exchange stiffness of the material. Through micromagnetic simulations, we demonstrate the possibility of in-plane skyrmion production via i) the motion of domain walls through a geometrical constriction and ii) shedding from a magnetic impurity driven both by spin-transfer torques. In-plane skyrmion dynamics triggered by spin-orbit torques are also investigated analytically and numerically. Our findings point towards the possibility of designing racetracks for in-plane skyrmions, whose speed could be tuned by adjusting the angle between the charge current and the uniform background magnetization; in particular, the speed is maximum for currents parallel to the easy axis and becomes zero for currents transverse to it.
