European Strategy for Particle Physics -- Accelerator R&D Roadmap
Abstract: The 2020 update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics emphasised the importance of an intensified and well-coordinated programme of accelerator R&D, supporting the design and delivery of future particle accelerators in a timely, affordable and sustainable way. This report sets out a roadmap for European accelerator R&D for the next five to ten years, covering five topical areas identified… ▽ More

Phenomenology of the trilinear Higgs coupling at proton-proton colliders
Abstract: We investigate Higgs pair production at proton-proton colliders, with emphasis on the gluon fusion channel at the HL-LHC. We study the behaviour of the leading order matrix element using exact computation of quark loops and infinite quark mass approximation. We analyse di-Higgs kinematics in search for phase space regions where the contribution of Higgs self-coupling to SM Higgs pair production is… ▽ More

Expected Performance of the ATLAS Experiment - Detector, Trigger and Physics
Abstract: A detailed study is presented of the expected performance of the ATLAS detector. The reconstruction of tracks, leptons, photons, missing energy and jets is investigated, together with the performance of b-tagging and the trigger. The physics potential for a variety of interesting physics processes, within the Standard Model and beyond, is examined. The study comprises a series of notes based on… ▽ More

Special Supersymmetric features of large invariant mass unpolarized and polarized top-antitop production at LHC
Abstract: We consider the top-antitop invariant mass distributions for production of unpolarized and polarized top quark pairs at LHC, in the theoretical framework of the MSSM. Assuming a "moderately" light SUSY scenario, we derive the leading logarithmic electroweak contributions at one loop in a region of large invariant mass, $M_{t\bar t}\simeq1$ TeV, for the unpolarized differential cross section… ▽ More

Studies of Top Quark properties at the LHC
Abstract: The LHC collider plans to start in 2007, after which millions of top quarks will be produced at the collision points. In the first period of data taking these events will provide an essential calibration tool for the ATLAS and CMS detectors. During a later stage, as part of the precision measurement programme, both detectors will determine the top mass and properties like spin, charge and coupli… ▽ More

The Cambridge Jet algorithm: features and applications
Abstract: Jet clustering algorithms are widely used to analyse hadronic events in high energy collisions. Recently a new clustering method, known as `Cambridge', has been introduced. In this article we present an algorithm to determine the transition values of y_cut for this clustering scheme, which allows to resolve any event to a definite number of jets in the final state. We discuss some particularitie… ▽ More
