The problem of an optimal map** between Hilbert spaces $IN$ and $OUT$, based on a series of density matrix map** measurements $ρ^{(l)} \to \varrho^{(l)}$, $l=1\dots M$, is formulated as an optimization problem maximizing the total fidelity $\mathcal{F}=\sum_{l=1}^{M} ω^{(l)} F\left(\varrho^{(l)},\sum_s B_s ρ^{(l)} B^{\dagger}_s\right)$ subject to probability preservation constraints on Kraus operators $B_s$. For $F(\varrho,σ)$ in the form that total fidelity can be represented as a quadratic form with superoperator $\mathcal{F}=\sum_s\left\langle B_s\middle|S\middle| B_s \right\rangle$ (either exactly or as an approximation) an iterative algorithm is developed to find the global maximum. The result comprises in $N_s$ operators $B_s$ that collectively form an $IN$ to $OUT$ quantum channel $A^{OUT}=\sum_s B_s A^{IN} B_s^{\dagger}$. The work introduces two important generalizations of unitary learning: 1. $IN$/$OUT$ states are represented as density matrices. 2. The map** itself is formulated as a general quantum channel. This marks a crucial advancement from the commonly studied unitary map** of pure states $φ_l=\mathcal{U} ψ_l$ to a general quantum channel, what allows us to distinguish probabilistic mixture of states and their superposition. An application of the approach is demonstrated on unitary learning of density matrix map** $\varrho^{(l)}=\mathcal{U} ρ^{(l)} \mathcal{U}^{\dagger}$, in this case a quadratic on $\mathcal{U}$ fidelity can be constructed by considering $\sqrt{ρ^{(l)}} \to \sqrt{\varrho^{(l)}}$ map**, and on a general quantum channel of Kraus rank $N_s$, where quadratic on $B_s$ fidelity is an approximation -- a quantum channel is then built as a hierarchy of unitary map**s. The approach can be applied to study decoherence effects, spontaneous coherence, synchronizing, etc.

Constructed operator $\mathcal{U}$ can be considered as a $IN$ to $OUT$ quantum channel; it is a partially unitary rectangular matrix of the dimension $\dim(OUT) \times \dim(IN)$ transforming operators as $A^{OUT}=\mathcal{U} A^{IN} \mathcal{U}^{\dagger}$. An iteration algorithm finding the global maximum of this optimization problem is developed and it's application to a number of problems is demonstrated. A software product implementing the algorithm is available from the authors.

For the first time we observe a fairly bright room-temperature ultraviolet PL of both crystal grown from the Lu$_{2}$Si$_{0.98}$O$_{4.96}$ melt and Lu$_{2}$SiO$_{5}$ ceramics doped with Ca$^{2+}$ ions. A band at 290 nm in the PL spectrum of the crystal and a band at 283 nm in the PL spectrum of the calcium-doped ceramics are observed. The spectral and kinetic properties of these bands are close to each other. This fact indicates similar origins of these bands. The results of the work show that the studied ultraviolet luminescence is related to oxygen vacancies in lutetium oxyorthosilicate.

Micrometer diameter bilayers of NiFe (permalloy, Py) and cobalt oxide (CoO) deposited on nanomechanical resonators were used to investigate exchange bias effects. The mechanical compliances of two resonator axes were enhanced by severing one torsion arm, resulting in a unique three-axis resonator that responds resonantly to torques generated by a three-axis RF field. Our technique permits simultaneous measurement of three orthogonal torque components. Measurements of the anisotropies associated with interfacial exchange coupling effects have been made. At cryogenic temperatures, observations of shifted linear hysteresis loops confirmed the presence of exchange bias from the Py/CoO interface. An in-plane rotating DC bias field was used to probe in-plane anisotropies through the out-of-plane torque. Training effects in the rotational hysteresis data were observed and showed that features due to interfacial coupling did not diminish irrespective of substantial training of the unidirectional anisotropy. The data from the rotational hysteresis loops were fit with parameters from a macrospin solution to the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. Each parameter of the exchange bias model accounts for specific features of the rotational loop.

Measurements of magnetic torque are most commonly preformed about a single axis or component of torque. Such measurements are very useful for hysteresis measurements of thin film structures in particular, where high shape anisotropy yields a near-proportionality of in-plane magnetic moment and the magnetic torque along the perpendicular in-plane axis. A technique to measure the full magnetic torque vector (three orthogonal torque components) on micro- and nano-scale magnetic materials is introduced. The method is demonstrated using a modified, single-paddle silicon-on-insulator resonant torque sensor. The mechanical compliances to all three orthogonal torque components are maximized by clam** the sensor at a single point. Mechanically-resonant AC torques are driven by an RF field containing a frequency component for each fundamental torsional mode of the device, and the resulting displacements read out through optical position-sensitive detection. The measurements are compared with micromagnetic simulations of the mechanical torque to augment the interpretation of the signals. As an application example, simultaneous observations of hysteresis in the net magnetization along with the field-dependent in-plane anisotropy is highly beneficial for studies of exchange bias.

The Einstein-de Haas (EdH) effect and its reciprocal the Barnett effect are fundamental to magnetism and uniquely yield measures of the ratio of magnetic moment to total angular momentum. These effects, small and generally difficult to observe, are enjoying a resurgence of interest as contemporary techniques enable new approaches to their study. The high mechanical resonance frequencies in nanomechanical systems offer a tremendous advantage for the observation of EdH torques in particular. At radio frequencies, the EdH effect can become comparable to or even exceed in magnitude conventional cross-product magnetic torques. In addition, the RF-EdH torque is expected to be phase-shifted by 90 degrees relative to cross-product torques, provided the magnetic system remains in quasi-static equilibrium, enabling separation in quadratures when both sources of torque are operative. Radio frequency EdH measurements are demonstrated through the full hysteresis range of micrometer scale, monocrystalline yttrium iron garnet (YIG) disks. Equilibrium behavior is observed in the vortex state at low bias field. Barkhausen-like features emerge in the in-plane EdH torque at higher fields in the vortex state, revealing magnetic disorder too weak to be visible through the in-plane cross-product torque. Beyond vortex annihilation, peaks arise in the EdH torque versus bias field, and these together with their phase signatures indicate additional utility of the Einstein-de Haas effect for the study of RF-driven spin dynamics.

Extracting context from visual representations is of utmost importance in the advancement of Computer Science. Representation of such a format in Natural Language has a huge variety of applications such as hel** the visually impaired etc. Such an approach is a combination of Computer Vision and Natural Language techniques which is a hard problem to solve. This project aims to compare different approaches for solving the image captioning problem. In specific, the focus was on comparing two different types of models: Encoder-Decoder approach and a Multi-model approach. In the encoder-decoder approach, inject and merge architectures were compared against a multi-modal image captioning approach based primarily on object detection. These approaches have been compared on the basis on state of the art sentence comparison metrics such as BLEU, GLEU, Meteor, and Rouge on a subset of the Google Conceptual captions dataset which contains 100k images. On the basis of this comparison, we observed that the best model was the Inception injected encoder model. This best approach has been deployed as a web-based system. On uploading an image, such a system will output the best caption associated with the image.

We show that a gerbe connection on X, which is invariant with respect to the torus action, yields an affine double torus fibration Y over the base space M - the generalization of the correspondence space. We construct a symplectic form on the cotangent bundle to the loop space LY and study the relation of its symmetries to T-duality. We find that geometric T-duality is possible if and only if the torus symmetry is generated by Hamiltonian vector fields. Put differently, the obstruction to T-duality is the non-Hamiltonian action of the symmetry group.

We consider noncommutative quantum field theories emphasizing an issue of their renormalizability and the UV/IR mixing. Sen's conjectures on open string tachyon condensation and their application to the D-brane physics have led to wide investigations of the covariant string field theory proposed by Witten about 15 years ago. We review main ingredients of cubic (super)string field theories using various formulations: functional, operator, conformal and the half string formalisms. The main technical tools that are used to study conjectured D-brane decay into closed string vacuum through the tachyon condensation are presented. We describe also methods which are used to study the cubic open string field theory around the tachyon vacuum: construction of the sliver state, ``comma'' and matrix representations of vertices.

Mutual dependencies of mass and orbital moment increase for rotating bodies of various configurations (a string with uniform mass distribution, a string with squared mass distribution or a sphere with uniform mass distribution, double system of point masses) are considered in quasiclassical approximation. Results are used for analysis of meson, baryon resonances of rotating nature, and also for dipion and dinucleon resonances. For oneparticle resonances a string configuration with squared mass distribution is has been chosen. Radius values and their possible changes with spin increase are obtained. At this, in particular, for proton and $δ$-isobar, which are the founders of rotating bands, values 0.45 and 0.63 are defined, respectively. Dipion and dinucleon resonances are pre-sented as two rotating point bodies at distances of some fermy. Each of reso-nances is located in four rotary bands. Possible reasons of formation of some rotary bands for these resonances are discussed.

Abstract:
New experimental data of the comparative analysis of channels of the production of three α-particles and ^12C nuclei in ^16Op-collisions at 3.25 A GeV/c are submitted. It is shown, that the channel with the three α-particles production is realised in a half part of events as a result of decay of an excited ^12C^* nucleus, and the rest part of the channel - by the knocking-out of one α-cluster fr…

New experimental data of the comparative analysis of channels of the production of three α-particles and ^12C nuclei in ^16Op-collisions at 3.25 A GeV/c are submitted. It is shown, that the channel with the three α-particles production is realised in a half part of events as a result of decay of an excited ^12C^* nucleus, and the rest part of the channel - by the knocking-out of one α-cluster from the weakly bound residual nucleus, containing three α-clusters. The modelling of the decay of an excited system on the model of isotropic phase space is justified at small values of excitation energy and, nevertheless, it allows to take the valuable additional information about the dynamics of investigated process from experimental data.

Abstract:
Mass spectra of the reaction (p,2p) at the beam energy 500 MeV on nuclei C,Al,Cu and Pb were measured on two-armed nonmagnetic scintillation spectrometer (candlepower - 0.2 sr, mass allowance - 4 MeV), which is lokated on the TRIUMF cyclotron (Canada). Observable anomalies in these spectra can be stipulated by forming of two-nucleon resonance states.

Abstract:
It has been conjectured that at the stationary point of the tachyon potential for the non-BPS D-brane or brane-anti-D-brane pair, the negative energy density cancels the brane tension. We study this conjecture using a cubic superstring field theory with insertion of a double-step inverse picture changing operator. We compute the tachyon potential at levels (1/2,1) and (2,6). In the first case we obtain that the value of the potential at the minimum is 97.5% of the non BPS D-brane tension. Using a special gauge in the second case we get 105.8% of the tension.

We consider noncommutative analogs of scalar electrodynamics and N=2 D=4 SUSY Yang-Mills theory. We show that one-loop renormalizability of noncommutative scalar electrodynamics requires the scalar potential to be an anticommutator squared. This form of the scalar potential differs from the one expected from the point of view of noncommutative gauge theories with extended SUSY containing a square of commutator. We show that fermion contributions restore the commutator in the scalar potential. This provides one-loop renormalizability of noncommutative N=2 SUSY gauge theory. We demonstrate a presence of non-integrable IR singularities in noncommutative scalar electrodynamics for general coupling constants. We find that for a special ratio of coupling constants these IR singularities vanish. Also we show that IR poles are absent in noncommutative N=2 SUSY gauge theory.

Abstract:
Noncommutative quantum field theory of a complex scalar field is considered. There is a two-coupling noncommutative analogue of U(1)-invariant quartic interaction $(φ^*φ)^2$, namely $Aφ^*\starφ\starφ^*\starφ+ Bφ^*\starφ^*\starφ\starφ$. For arbitrary values of $A$ and $B$ the model is nonrenormalizable. However, it is one-loop renormalizable in two special cases: B=0 and $A=B$. Furthermore, in th…

Furthermore, in the case B=0 the model does not suffer from IR divergencies at least at one-loop insertions level.
