Fermi coordinates and static observer in Schwarzschild spacetime
Abstract: In this paper we construct the Fermi coordinates along any arbitrary line in simple analytical way without use the orthogonal frames and their parallel transport. In this manner we extend the Eddington approach to the construction of the Fermi metric in terms of the Riemann tensor. In the second part of the present article we show how the proposed approach works practically by applying it for deri… ▽ More

On the black holes in external electromagnetic fields
Abstract: This preprint mainly reflects the new chapter we are prepearing for the second edition of our book "Gravitational Solitons" (V. Belinski and E. Verdaguer). However, here it is written in the form of more or less self-consistent paper dedicated to the mathematical theory of black holes immersed in the external electromagnetic field. The purpose of this development is to describe the procedure by wh… ▽ More

Superposition of fields of two rotating charged masses in General Relativity and existence of equilibrium configurations
Abstract: It is known that two Reissner-Nordstrom black holes or two overextreme Reissner-Nordstrom sources cannot be in physical equilibrium. In the static case such equilibrium is possible only if one of the sources is a black hole and another one is a naked singularity. We define the notion of physical equilibrium in general (stationary) case when both components of a binary system are rotating and show… ▽ More

BKL oscillations in 2+1 space-time dimensions
Abstract: We investigate the question whether there are cosmological models in 2+1 space-time dimensions which exhibit dynamics similar to BKL oscillations, as the cosmological singularity is approached. Based on intuition, we conceive a toy model which displays such oscillatory dynamics. We show that in the phase space of this model, the cosmological singularity is represented by a separatrix curve and dis… ▽ More

On the cosmological gravitational waves and cosmological distances
Abstract: We show that solitonic cosmological gravitational waves propagated through the Friedmann universe and generated by the inhomogeneities of the gravitational field near the Big Bang can be responsible for increase of cosmological distances.

On the integrable gravity coupled to fermions
Abstract: In the present letter we indicate an extension of the pure gravity inverse scattering integration technique to the case when fermions (introduced on the base of supersymmetry) are present. In this way the integrability technique for simple ($N=1$) supergravity in two space-time dimensions coupled to the matter fields taking values in the Lie algebra of $E_{8\left( +8\right) }$ group is developed.… ▽ More

Comments: Version 1611.02924v1 was withdrawn due to groundless assumption on the existence of the relation (43). In footnote 7 it was stressed that its proof remains to be seen. Analysis showed that such relation indeed is doubtful. Then the extension of the pure gravity inverse scattering method to superspace surely can cover only the simple integrable supergravity with E8(8) symmetry

On the stabilization of the Friedmann Big Bang by the shear stresses
Abstract: The window is found in the space of the free parameters of the theory of viscoelastic matter for which the Friedmann singularity is stable. Under stability we mean that in the presence of the shear stresses the \textit{generic} solution of the equations of relativistic gravity possessing the isotropic, homogeneous and thermally equilibrated cosmological singularity exists.

On the equilibrium state of two rotating charged masses in General Relativity
Abstract: This paper is a direct continuation of our old publication where it was found the exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations for two static sources of Reissner-Nordstrom type in the state of the physical equilibrium. Here we present the exact solution of these equations for the case of two rotating charged sources and we proved the existence of the physical equilibrium state also for this ge… ▽ More

Soliton Nature of Equilibrium State of Two Charged Masses in General Relativity
Abstract: New derivation of static equilibrium state for two charged masses in General Relativity is given in the framework of the Inverse Scattering Method as an alternative to our previous derivation of this solution by the Integral Equation Method. This shows that such solution is of solitonic character and represents the particular case of more general (12-parametric) stationary axisymmetric electrovacu… ▽ More

On Tunnelling Through the Black Hole Horizon
Abstract: It is shown here that there is no way for particle creation to occur by quantum tunneling through an infinitesimal neighborhood of the black hole horizon. This result is a trivial consequence of the regularity of the horizon, the equivalence principle and the general covariance of the relativistic theory of gravity. Moreover, we also confirm the less trivial statement that no particle creation by… ▽ More

Equilibrium configurations of two charged masses in General Relativity
Abstract: An asymptotically flat static solution of Einstein-Maxwell equations which describes the field of two non-extreme Reissner - Nordström sources in equilibrium is presented. Very simple analytical forms were found for the solution as well as for the equilibrium condition which guarantees… ▽ More

On chaotic behavior of gravitating stellar shells
Abstract: Motion of two gravitating spherical stellar shells around a massive central body is considered. Each shell consists of point particles with the same specific angular momenta and energies. In the case when one can neglect the influence of gravitation of one ("light") shell onto another ("heavy") shell ("restricted problem") the structure of the phase space is described. The scaling laws for the m… ▽ More

An example of a uniformly accelerated particle detector with non-Unruh response
Abstract: We propose a scalar background in Minkowski spacetime imparting constant proper acceleration to a classical particle. In contrast to the case of a constant electric field the proposed scalar potential does not create particle-antiparticle pairs. Therefore an elementary particle accelerated by such field is a more appropriate candidate for an "Unruh-detector" than a particle moving in a constant… ▽ More

A Cosmic Battery Reconsidered
Abstract: We revisit the problem of magnetic field generation in accretion flows onto black holes owing to the excess radiation force on electrons. This excess force may arise from the Poynting-Robertson effect. Chaotic motion and ballistic ejection of gravitating shells
Abstract: It is shown that during the motion of two initially gravitationally bound spherical shells, consisting of point particles moving along ballistic trajectories, one of the shell may be expelled to infinity at subrelativistic speed $v_{exp}\leq 0.25 c$. The problem is solved in Newtonian gravity. Motion of two intersecting shells in the case when they do not runaway shows a chaotic behaviour. We ho… ▽ More
