Refining fast simulation using machine learning
Abstract: At the CMS experiment, a growing reliance on the fast Monte Carlo application (FastSim) will accompany the high luminosity and detector granularity expected in Phase 2. The FastSim chain is roughly 10 times faster than the application based on the GEANT4 detector simulation and full reconstruction referred to as FullSim. However, this advantage comes at the price of decreased accuracy in some of t… ▽ More

Report of the Topical Group on Physics Beyond the Standard Model at Energy Frontier for Snowmass 2021
Abstract: This is the Snowmass2021 Energy Frontier (EF) Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) report. It combines the EF topical group reports of EF08 (Model-specific explorations), EF09 (More general explorations), and EF10 (Dark Matter at Colliders). The report includes a general introduction to BSM motivations and the comparative prospects for proposed future experiments for a broad range of potential BSM mode… ▽ More

A Grand Scan of the pMSSM Parameter Space for Snowmass 2021
Abstract: We present a flexible framework for interpretation of SUSY sensitivity studies for future colliders in terms of the phenomenological minimal supersymmetric standard model (pMSSM). We perform a grand scan of the pMSSM 19-dimensional parameter space that covers the accessible ranges of many collider scenarios, including electron, muon, and hadron colliders at a variety of center of mass energies. Th… ▽ More

Rebalance and Smear for Multi-jet Background Estimation
Abstract: For many particle collider searches for physics beyond the Standard Model in final states with jets and missing transverse momentum, events from QCD multi-jet processes are an important and challenging background contribution. The CMS and ATLAS experiments have previously developed data-driven methods designed to succeed where Monte Carlo methods suffer large theoretical and experimental uncertain… ▽ More

Proceedings of the second MadAnalysis 5 workshop on LHC recasting in Korea
Abstract: We document the activities performed during the second MadAnalysis 5 workshop on LHC recasting, that was organised in KIAS (Seoul, Korea) on February 12-20, 2020. We detail the implementation of 12 new ATLAS and CMS searches in the MadAnalysis 5 Public Analysis Database, and the associated validation procedures. Those searches probe the production of extra gauge and scalar/pseudoscalar bosons, sup… ▽ More

Proceedings of the first MadAnalysis 5 workshop on LHC recasting in Korea
Abstract: We present the activities performed during the first MadAnalysis 5 workshop on LHC recasting that has been organized at High 1 (Gangwon privince, Korea) on August 20-27, 2017. This report includes details on the implementation in the MadAnalysis 5 framework of eight ATLAS and CMS analyses, as well as a description of the corresponding validation and the various issues that have been observed.

Towards a public analysis database for LHC new physics searches using MadAnalysis 5
Abstract: We present the implementation, in the MadAnalysis 5 framework, of several ATLAS and CMS searches for supersymmetry in data recorded during the first run of the LHC. We provide extensive details on the validation of our implementations and propose to create a public analysis database within this framework.
