Abstract:
Macroeconomic indexes are of high importance for banks: many risk-control decisions utilize these indexes. A typical workflow of these indexes evaluation is costly and protracted, with a lag between the actual date and available index being a couple of months. Macroeconomic indexes are of high importance for banks: many risk-control decisions utilize these indexes. A typical workflow of these indexes evaluation is costly and protracted, with a lag between the actual date and available index being a couple of months. Banks predict such indexes now using autoregressive models to make decisions in a rapidly changing environment. However, autoregressive models fail in complex scenarios related to appearances of crises.
We propose to use clients' financial transactions data from a large Russian bank to get such indexes. Financial transactions are long, and a number of clients is huge, so we develop an efficient approach that allows fast and accurate estimation of macroeconomic indexes based on a stream of transactions consisting of millions of transactions. The approach uses a neural networks paradigm and a smart sampling scheme.
The results show that our neural network approach outperforms the baseline method on hand-crafted features based on transactions. Calculated embeddings show the correlation between the client's transaction activity and bank macroeconomic indexes over time.

In this paper, we give some observation of applying modern optimization methods for functionals describing digital predistortion (DPD) of signals with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation. The considered family of model functionals is determined by the class of cascade Wiener--Hammerstein models, which can be represented as a computational graph consisting of various nonlinear blocks. To assess optimization methods with the best convergence depth and rate as a properties of this models family we multilaterally consider modern techniques used in optimizing neural networks and numerous numerical methods used to optimize non-convex multimodal functions. The research emphasizes the most effective of the considered techniques and describes several useful observations about the model properties and optimization methods behavior.

Mobile microscopy is a promising technology to assist and to accelerate disease diagnostics, with its widespread adoption being hindered by the mediocre quality of acquired images. Although some paired image translation and super-resolution approaches for mobile microscopy have emerged, a set of essential challenges, necessary for automating it in a high-throughput setting, still await to be addressed. The issues like in-focus/out-of-focus classification, fast scanning deblurring, focus-stacking, etc. -- all have specific peculiarities when the data are recorded using a mobile device. In this work, we aspire to create a comprehensive pipeline by connecting a set of methods purposely tuned to mobile microscopy: (1) a CNN model for stable in-focus / out-of-focus classification, (2) modified DeblurGAN architecture for image deblurring, (3) FuseGAN model for combining in-focus parts from multiple images to boost the detail. We discuss the limitations of the existing solutions developed for professional clinical microscopes, propose corresponding improvements, and compare to the other state-of-the-art mobile analytics solutions.
