In this work, we developed a novel text-guided image synthesis technique which could generate realistic tau PET images from textual descriptions and the subject's MR image. The generated tau PET images have the potential to be used in examining relations between different measures and also increasing the public availability of tau PET datasets. The method was based on latent diffusion models. Both textual descriptions and the subject's MR prior image were utilized as conditions during image generation. The subject's MR image can provide anatomical details, while the text descriptions, such as gender, scan time, cognitive test scores, and amyloid status, can provide further guidance regarding where the tau neurofibrillary tangles might be deposited. Preliminary experimental results based on clinical [18F]MK-6240 datasets demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method in generating realistic tau PET images at different clinical stages.

The induced polarization of a beam of polar clusters or molecules passing through an electric or magnetic field region differs from the textbook Langevin-Debye susceptibility. This distinction, which is important for the interpretation of deflection and focusing experiments, arises because instead of acquiring thermal equilibrium in the field region, the beam ensemble typically enters the field adiabatically, i.e., with a previously fixed distribution of rotational states. We discuss the orientation of rigid symmetric-top systems with a body-fixed electric or magnetic dipole moment. The analytical expression for their "adiabatic-entry" orientation is elucidated and compared with exact numerical results for a range of parameters. The differences between the polarization of thermodynamic and "adiabatic-entry" ensembles, of prolate and oblate tops, and of symmetric-top and linear rotators are illustrated and identified.

Abstract:
Level densities and radiative strength functions in $^{171}$Yb and $^{170}$Yb nuclei have been measured using the $^{171}$Yb($^3$He,$^3$He$^\primeγ$)$^{171}$Yb and $^{171}$Yb($^3$He,$αγ$)$^{170}$Yb reactions. New data on $^{171}$Yb are compared to a previous measurement for $^{171}$Yb from the $^{172}$Yb($^3$He,$αγ$)$^{171}$Yb reaction. Systematics of level densities and radiative strength funct…

New data on $^{171}$Yb are compared to a previous measurement for $^{171}$Yb from the $^{172}$Yb($^3$He,$αγ$)$^{171}$Yb reaction. Systematics of level densities and radiative strength functions in $^{170,171,172}$Yb are established. The entropy excess in $^{171}$Yb relative to the even-even nuclei $^{170,172}$Yb due to the unpaired neutron quasiparticle is found to be approximately 2$k_B$. Results for the radiative strength function from the two reactions lead to consistent parameters characterizing the ``pygmy'' resonances. Pygmy resonances in the $^{170,172}$Yb populated by the ($^3$He,$α$) reaction appear to be split into two components for both of which a complete set of resonance parameters are obtained.

Abstract:
Two-step-cascade spectra in 172-Yb have been measured after thermal neutron capture. They are compared to calculations based on experimental values of the level density and radiative strength function (RSF) obtained from the 173-Yb(3-He,alpha gamma)172-Yb reaction. The multipolarity of a 6.5(15) mu_N^2 resonance at E_gamma=3.3(1) MeV in the RSF is determined to be M1 by this comparison.

Abstract:
The $^{174}$Yb($^{29}$Si,5n) reaction at 148 MeV with thin targets was used to populate high-angular momentum states in $^{198}$Po. Resulting $γ$ rays were observed with Gammasphere. A weakly-populated superdeformed band of 10 $γ$-ray transitions was found and has been assigned to $^{198}$Po. This is the first observation of a SD band in the $A \approx 190$ region in a nucleus with $Z > 83$. The…

This is the first observation of a SD band in the $A \approx 190$ region in a nucleus with $Z > 83$. The ${\cal J}^{(2)}$ of the new band is very similar to those of the yrast SD bands in $^{194}$Hg and $^{196}$Pb. The intensity profile suggests that this band is populated through states close to where the SD band crosses the yrast line and the angular momentum at which the fission process dominates.

We have studied via in-beam $γ$-ray spectroscopy $^{196}$Po and $^{198}$Po, which are the first neutron-deficient Po isotopes to exhibit a collective low-lying structure. The ratios of yrast state energies and the E2 branching ratios of transitions from non-yrast to yrast states are indicative of a low-lying vibrational structure. The onset of collective motion in these isotopes can be attributed to the opening of the neutron i$_{13/2}$ orbital at N$\approx$112 and the resulting large overlap between the two valence protons in the h$_{9/2}$ orbital and the valence neutrons in the i$_{13/2}$ orbital.
