A geometric model for the module category of a string algebra
Abstract: In this paper, we give a geometric construction of string algebras and of their module categories. Our approach uses dissections of punctured Riemann surfaces with extra data at marked points, called labels. As an application, we give a classification of support tau-tilting modules in terms of arcs in such a tiled surface. In the case when the string algebra is gentle, we recover the classificatio… ▽ More

Spatiotemporal Disentanglement of Arteriovenous Malformations in Digital Subtraction Angiography

Flip graphs of coloured triangulations of convex polygons
Abstract: A triangulation of a polygon is a subdivision of it into triangles, using diagonals between its vertices. Two different triangulations of a polygon can be related by a sequence of flips: a flip replaces a diagonal by the unique other diagonal in the quadrilateral it defines. In this paper, we study coloured triangulations and coloured flips. In this more general situation, it is no longer true tha… ▽ More

A gluing operation for dimer quivers
Abstract: In this article we introduce a gluing operation on dimer models. This allows us to construct dimer quivers on arbitrary surfaces. We study how the associated dimer and boundary algebras behave under the gluing and how to determine them from the gluing components. We also use this operation to construct homogeneous dimer quivers on annuli.

A generalization of cancellative dimer algebras to hyperbolic surfaces
Abstract: We study a new class of quiver algebras on surfaces, called 'geodesic ghor algebras'. These algebras generalize cancellative dimer algebras on a torus to higher genus surfaces, where the relations come from perfect matchings rather than a potential. Although cancellative dimer algebras on a torus are noncommutative crepant resolutions, the center of any dimer algebra on a higher genus surface is j… ▽ More

Examples of geodesic ghor algebras on hyperbolic surfaces
Abstract: Cancellative dimer algebras on a torus have many nice algebraic and homological properties. However, these nice properties disappear for dimer algebras on higher genus surfaces. We consider a new class of quiver algebras on surfaces, called 'geodesic ghor algebras', that reduce to cancellative dimer algebras on a torus, yet continue to have nice properties on higher genus surfaces. Frieze patterns of integers
Abstract: The famous theorem of Conway and Coxeter on frieze patterns gave a geometric interpretation to integral friezes via triangulations of polygons. In this article, we review this result and show some of the development it has led to. The last decade has seen a lot of activities on friezes. One reason behind this is the connection to cluster combinatorics.

Abstract: We study entropy generation in a one-dimensional (1D) model of bosons in an optical lattice experiencing two-particle losses. Such heating is a major impediment to observing exotic low temperature states, and "simulating" condensed matter systems. Develo** intuition through numerical simulations, we present a simple empirical model for the entropy produced in this 1D setting. We also explore the… ▽ More

On the complement of the Richardson orbit
Abstract: We consider parabolic subgroups of a general algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$ whose Levi part has exactly $t$ factors. By a classical theorem of Richardson, the nilradical of a parabolic subgroup $P$ has an open dense $P$-orbit. In the complement to this dense orbit, there are infinitely many orbits as soon as the number $t$ of factors in the Levi part is $\ge 6$. In this pap… ▽ More

Cluster categories, m-cluster categories and diagonals in polygons
Abstract: The goals of this expository article are on one hand to describe how to construct ($m$-) cluster categories from triangulations (resp. from $m+2$-angulations) of polygons. On the other hand, we explain how to use translation quivers and their powers to obtain the $m$-cluster categories directly from the diagonals of a polygon.

Spin-Imbalance in a One-Dimensional Fermi Gas
Abstract: Superconductivity and magnetism generally do not coexist. Changing the relative number of up and down spin electrons disrupts the basic mechanism of superconductivity, where atoms of opposite momentum and spin form Cooper pairs. Nearly forty years ago Fulde and Ferrell and Larkin and Ovchinnikov proposed an exotic pairing mechanism (FFLO) where magnetism is accommodated by formation of pairs with… ▽ More

Detecting antiferromagnetism of atoms in an optical lattice via optical Bragg scattering
Abstract: Antiferromagnetism of ultracold fermions in an optical lattice can be detected by Bragg diffraction of light, in analogy to the diffraction of neutrons from solid state materials. A finite sublattice magnetization will lead to a Bragg peak from the (1/2 1/2 1/2) crystal plane with an intensity depending on details of the atomic states, the frequency and polarization of the probe beam, the direct… ▽ More

FFLO vs Bose-Fermi mixture in polarized 1D Fermi gas on a Feshbach resonance: a 3-body study
Abstract: We study the three-fermion problem within a 1D model of a Feshbach resonance in order to gain insight into how the FFLO-like state at small negative scattering lengths evolves into a Bose-Fermi mixture at small positive scattering lengths. The FFLO state possesses an oscillating superfluid correlation function, while in a Bose-Fermi mixture correlations are monotonic. We find that this behavior… ▽ More
