We propose a dual Wilson loop description for the MHV super form factors of half-BPS operators in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ super-Yang-Mills theory. In this description, the local operators are represented by on-shell states, made out of zero-momentum particles, that are absorbed by a null periodic super Wilson loop. We present evidence for this duality at weak coupling, by performing an explicit calculation of the Wilson loop matrix elements through one loop. At tree level, the interactions localize at the cusps of the loop, revealing a simple connection between the super form factors and the $m=2$ tree amplituhedron. At loop level, we show that the Wilson loop calculation reproduces the known results for the super form factors. Inspired by this duality, we extend the OPE program developed for the form factors of the Lagrangian to the super form factors of the higher-charge operators. We introduce non-perturbative axioms and conjectures for the main building blocks that govern the exchange of the lightest flux-tube excitations. These blocks appear as simple refinements of the form factor transitions introduced in earlier OPE studies. They are expressed at any value of the 't Hooft coupling in terms of the tilted Beisert-Eden-Staudacher kernel. We carry out checks of our conjectures up to two loops at weak coupling for three- and four-point form factors of half-BPS operators of various lengths, finding perfect agreement with perturbative data.

We consider four-point integrals arising in the planar limit of the conformal "fishnet" theory in four dimensions. They define a two-parameter family of higher-loop Feynman integrals, which extend the series of ladder integrals and were argued, based on integrability and analyticity, to admit matrix-model-like integral and determinantal representations. In this paper, we prove the equivalence of all these representations using exact summation and integration techniques. We then analyze the large-order behaviour, corresponding to the thermodynamic limit of a large fishnet graph. The saddle-point equations are found to match known two-cut singular equations arising in matrix models, enabling us to obtain a concise parametric expression for the free-energy density in terms of complete elliptic integrals. Interestingly, the latter depends non-trivially on the fishnet aspect ratio and differs from a scaling formula due to Zamolodchikov for large periodic fishnets, suggesting a strong sensitivity to the boundary conditions. We also find an intriguing connection between the saddle-point equation and the equation describing the Frolov-Tseytlin spinning string in $AdS_{3}\times S^{1}$, in a generalized scaling combining the thermodynamic and short-distance limits.

We study the maximally-helicity-violating (MHV) six-gluon scattering amplitude in planar $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super-Yang-Mills theory at finite coupling when all three cross ratios are small. It exhibits a double logarithmic scaling in the cross ratios, controlled by a handful of "anomalous dimensions" that are functions of the coupling constant alone. Inspired by known seven-loop results at weak coupling and the integrability-based pentagon OPE, we present conjectures for the all-order resummation of these anomalous dimensions. At strong coupling, our predictions agree perfectly with the string theory analysis. Intriguingly, the simplest of these anomalous dimensions coincides with one describing the light-like limit of the octagon, namely the four-point function of large-charge BPS operators.

The mixing matrix of such operators is given in terms of fishnet planar graphs of multi-wheel and multi-spiral type. These graphs probe the two main building blocks of the TBA approach that are the magnon dispersion relation and the magnon scattering matrix and which we both obtain by diagonalising suitable graph-building operators. We also obtain the dual version of the TBA equations, which relates, in the continuum limit, $D$-dimensional graphs to two dimensional sigma models in $AdS_{D+1}$. It allows us to verify a general formula obtained by A.~Zamolodchikov for the critical coupling.

We consider structure constants of single-trace operators at strong coupling in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory using the hexagon formalism. We concentrate on heavy-heavy-light correlators where the heavy operators are BMN operators, with large R-charges and finite anomalous dimensions, and the light one is a finite-charge chiral primary operator. They describe the couplings between two highly boosted strings and a supergravity mode in the bulk dual. In the hexagon framework, two sums over virtual magnons are needed to bind the hexagons together around the light operator. We evaluate these sums explicitly at strong coupling, for a certain choice of BMN operators, and show that they factorise into a ratio of Gamma functions and a simple stringy prefactor. The former originates from giant mirror magnons scanning the AdS geometry while the latter stems from small fluctuations around the BMN vacuum. The resulting structure constants have poles at positions where an enhanced mixing with double-trace operators is expected and zeros whenever the process is forbidden by supersymmetry. We also discuss the transition to the classical regime, when the length of the light operator scales like the string tension, where we observe similitudes with the Neumann coefficients of the pp-wave String Field Theory vertex.

There is a number of indications that scattering amplitudes in the Aharony-Bergman-Jafferis-Maldacena theory might have a dual description in terms of a holonomy of a supergauge connection on a null polygonal contour in a way analogous to the four-dimensional maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. However, so far its explicit implementations evaded a successful completion. The difficulty is intimately tied to the lack of the T-self-duality of the sigma model on the string side of the gauge/string correspondence. Unscathed by the last misfortune, we initiate with this study an application of the pentagon paradigm to scattering amplitudes of the theory. With the language being democratic and nondiscriminatory to whether one considers a Wilson loop expectation value or an amplitude, the success in the application of the program points towards a possible unified observable on the field theory side. Our present consideration is focused on two-loop perturbation theory in the planar limit, begging for higher loop data in order to bootstrap current analysis to all orders in the 't Hooft coupling.

We consider the continuum limit of 4d planar fishnet diagrams using integrable spin chain methods borrowed from the $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super-Yang-Mills theory. These techniques give us control on the scaling dimensions of single-trace operators for all values of the coupling constant in the fishnet theory. We use them to study the thermodynamical limit of the BMN operator corresponding to the spin chain ferromagnetic vacuum. We find that its scaling dimension exhibits a critical behaviour when the coupling constant approaches Zamolodchikov's critical coupling. Analysis close to that point suggests that the continuum limit of the fishnet graphs is controlled by the two-dimensional $AdS_{5}$ non-linear sigma model. More generally, we present evidence that the fishnet diagrams define an integrable lattice regularization of the $AdS_{5}$ model. A system of massless TBA equations is derived for the tachyon energy by dualizing the TBA equations of the weakly coupled planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory.

We perform extensive three-loop tests of the hexagon bootstrap approach for structure constants in planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM theory. We focus on correlators involving two BPS operators and one non-BPS operator in the so-called $SL(2)$ sector. At three loops, such correlators receive wrap** corrections from mirror excitations flowing in either the adjacent or the opposing channel. Amusingly, we find that the first type of correction coincides exactly with the leading wrap** correction for the spectrum (divided by the one-loop anomalous dimension). We develop an efficient method for computing the second type of correction for operators with any spin. The results are in perfect agreement with the recently obtained three-loop perturbative data by Chicherin, Drummond, Heslop, Sokatchev [2] and by Eden [3]. We also derive the integrand for general multi-particle wrap** corrections, which turns out to take a remarkably simple form. As an application we estimate the loop order at which various new physical effects are expected to kick-in.

We argue that in this limit scattering amplitudes map into correlators of twist fields in the two dimensional non-linear O(6) sigma model, similar to those appearing in recent studies of entanglement entropy. We provide evidence for this assertion by combining the intuition springing from the string worldsheet picture and the predictions coming from the OPE series. We consider light-like Wilson loops with hexagonal geometry in the planar limit of N=4 Super-Yang-Mills theory. Within the Operator-Product-Expansion framework these loops receive contributions from all states that can propagate on top of the colour flux tube sourced by any two opposite edges of the loops. Of particular interest are the two-particle contributions. They comprise virtual effects like the propagation of a pair of scalars, fermions, and gluons, on top of the flux tube. Each one of them is thoroughly discussed in this paper. Our main result is the prediction of all the twist-2 corrections to the expansion of the dual 6-gluons MHV amplitude in the near-collinear limit at finite coupling. At weak coupling, our result was recently used by Dixon, Drummond, Duhr and Pennington to predict the full amplitude at four loops. At strong coupling, it allows us to make contact with the classical string description and to recover the (previously elusive) AdS(3) mode from the continuum of two-fermion states. More generally, the two-particle contributions serve as an exemplar for all the multi-particle corrections.

We elaborate on a non-perturbative formulation of scattering amplitudes/null polygonal Wilson loops in planar N=4 Super-Yang-Mills theory. The construction is based on a decomposition of the Wilson loop into elementary building blocks named pentagon transitions. Our discussion expands on a previous letter of the authors where these transitions were introduced and analyzed for the so-called gluonic excitations. In this paper we revisit these transitions and extend the analysis to the sector of scalar excitations. We restrict ourselves to the single particle transitions and bootstrap their finite coupling expressions using a set of axioms. Besides these considerations, the main focus of the paper is on the extraction of perturbative data from scattering amplitudes at weak coupling and its comparison against the proposed pentagon transitions. We present several tests for both the hexagon and heptagon (MHV and NMHV) amplitudes up to two- and three-loop orders. Taking the conjectured all-loop asymptotic equations for the AdS_4/CFT_3 correspondence as the starting point, we derive the S-matrix and a set of spectral equations for the lowest-lying excitations. We find that these equations resemble closely the analogous equations for AdS_5/CFT_4, which are also discussed in this paper. We propose a non-perturbative formulation of planar scattering amplitudes in N=4 SYM or, equivalently, polygonal Wilson loops. The construction is based on the OPE approach and introduces a new decomposition of the Wilson loop in terms of fundamental building blocks named Pentagon transitions. These transitions satisfy a simple relation to the worldsheet S-matrix on top of the so called Gubser-Klebanov-Polyakov vacuum which allows us to bootstrap them at any value of the coupling. In this letter we present a subsector of the full solution to scattering amplitudes which we call the gluonic part. We match our results with both weak and strong coupling data available in the literature. For example, the strong coupling Y-system can be understood in this approach.

Abstract:
In this paper we study the integrability of a family of models with U(1)xSU(N) symmetry. They admit fermionic and bosonic formulations related through bosonization and subsequent T-duality. The fermionic theory is just the CP^(N-1) sigma model coupled to a self-interacting massless fermion, while the bosonic one defines a one-parameter deformation of the O(2N) sigma model. The fermionic theory is just the CP^(N-1) sigma model coupled to a self-interacting massless fermion, while the bosonic one defines a one-parameter deformation of the O(2N) sigma model. For N=2 the latter model is equivalent to the integrable deformation of the O(4) sigma model discovered by Wiegmann. At higher values of N we find that integrability is more sporadic and requires a fine-tuning of the parameters of the theory. A special case of our study is the N=4 model, which was found to describe the AdS_4xCP^3 string theory in the Alday-Maldacena decoupling limit. In this case we propose a set of asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations for the energy spectrum.

Abstract:
In this paper, we examine scaling dimensions at small spin in the so-called sl(2) sector of the planar maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We find that the Bethe ansatz equations, which control the spectrum of scaling dimensions, greatly simplify in this limit and can be solved exactly.

The formula should stand as a prediction of the Asymptotic Bethe Ansatz equations for the spectrum of scaling dimensions and evidence is given at both weak and strong coupling that it should be exact. In particular, agreement is found with established one-loop spectroscopy of string energies at strong coupling.

We investigate finite-size corrections to anomalous dimensions of large-spin twist-two operators in the planar maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We develop a framework for analysis of these corrections, that is complementary to the conventional spin-chain approach, by making use of the hole rather than the magnon picture. From the dual string theory perspective where the large-spin operator is identified with the Gubser-Klebanov-Polyakov (GKP) string, our approach is equivalent to constructing the first Luescher correction to the energy of the GKP string by incorporating the contribution of virtual excitations propagating on it. It allows us to propose a formula that controls a particular class of large-spin corrections to the twist-two anomalous dimension and holds at any value of the coupling constant. Compared to wrap** corrections computed with magnons propagating on the spin chain, the finite-size corrections that are encoded in our formalism start at a lower loop level. Our formalism thus calls for modification of the asymptotic contributions which are conventionally incorporated within the Asymptotic Bethe Ansatz. An educated guess allows us to remedy this pitfall and successfully confront our predictions with known results up to five loop accuracy at weak coupling. Finally, our formula sheds light on the weak-to-strong coupling transition for the subleading large-spin corrections under study and confirms stringy expectations at strong coupling where they are found to be identical to the first Luescher correction to the vacuum energy of the O(6) sigma model.

On the gauge theory side of the AdS/CFT correspondence, i.e., in the planar $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super-Yang-Mills theory, the problem is equivalent to finding the spectrum of scaling dimensions of large spin, single-trace operators. Their scaling dimensions are obtained from the analysis of the Beisert-Staudacher asymptotic Bethe ansatz equations, which are believed to solve the spectral problem of the planar gauge theory. We examine the resulting dispersion relations in various kinematical regimes, both at weak and strong coupling, and detail the matching with the Frolov-Tseytlin spectrum of transverse fluctuations of the long GKP string. At a more dynamical level, we identify the mechanism for the restoration of the SO(6) symmetry, initially broken by the choice of the Berenstein-Maldacena-Nastase vacuum in the Bethe ansatz solution to the mixing problem.

The cusp anomalous dimension is a ubiquitous quantity in four-dimensional gauge theories, ranging from QCD to maximally supersymmetric N=4 Yang-Mills theory, and it is one of the best investigated observables in the AdS/CFT correspondence. In planar N=4 SYM theory, its perturbative expansion at weak coupling has a finite radius of convergence while at strong coupling it admits an expansion in inverse powers of the 't Hooft coupling which is given by a non-Borel summable asymptotic series. We study the cusp anomalous dimension in the transition regime from strong to weak coupling and argue that the transition is driven by nonperturbative, exponentially suppressed corrections. To compute these corrections, we revisit the calculation of the cusp anomalous dimension in planar N=4 SYM theory and extend the previous analysis by taking into account nonperturbative effects. We demonstrate that the scale parameterizing nonperturbative corrections coincides with the mass gap of the two-dimensional bosonic O(6) sigma model embedded into the AdS_5xS^5 string theory. This result is in agreement with the prediction coming from the string theory consideration.

The result is in agreement with the prediction coming from the thermodynamical limit of the quantum string Bethe ansatz equations, but disagrees with the two-loop stringy corrections to the folded spinning string solution.

Anomalous dimensions of Wilson operators with large Lorentz spin scale logarithmically with the spin. Recent multi-loop QCD calculations of twist-two anomalous dimensions revealed the existence of interesting structure of the subleading corrections suppressed by powers of the Lorentz spin. We argue that this structure is a manifestation of the `self-tuning' property of the multi-loop anomalous dimensions - in a conformal gauge theory, the anomalous dimension of Wilson operators is a function of their conformal spin which is modified in higher loops by an amount proportional to the anomalous dimension. Making use of the parity property of this function and incorporating the beta-function contribution, we demonstrate the existence of (infinite number of) relations between subleading corrections to the twist-two anomalous dimensions in QCD and its supersymmetric extensions. They imply that the subleading corrections to the anomalous dimensions suppressed by odd powers of the conformal spin can be expressed in terms of the lower-loops corrections suppressed by smaller even powers of the spin. We show that these relations hold true in QCD to all loops in the large beta0 limit. In the N=4 SYM theory, we employ the AdS/CFT correspondence to argue that the same relations survive in the strong coupling regime for higher-twist scalar operators dual to a folded string rotating on the AdS3xS1.
