We provide a correlation analysis of signatures associated with traces of the dark matter decay and the galaxy spatial distribution according to the 2MRS catalog of galaxies. Signature data analysis plays an important role in the context of current and future observations and cosmological constraints. Attention is paid to the constraints that can be obtained for decaying sterile neutrinos when analyzing observations in the context of the Spectr-Roentegn-Gamma (SRG) mission. We study the correlation spectra of dark matter and galaxies, which can be obtained both for the eROSITA telescope and for the first time for the ART-XC telescope. The analysis is carried out both within the framework of the Limber approximation and within the framework of the extended Limber approximation, which makes it possible to more accurately study the power spectra in the region of small multipoles. We calculate the power spectra in both approaches and examine the contribution of different ranges of multipoles to the resulting constraints on sterile neutrino parameters.

The Baksan Experiment on Sterile Transitions (BEST) probes the gallium anomaly and its possible connections to oscillations between active and sterile neutrinos. Based on the Gallium-Germanium Neutrino Telescope (GGNT) technology of the SAGE experiment, BEST employs two zones of liquid Ga target to explore neutrino oscillations on the meter scale. Oscillations on this short scale could produce deficits in the $^{71}$Ge production rates within the two zones, as well as a possible rate difference between the zones.
From July 5th to October 13th 2019, the two-zone target was exposed to a primarily monoenergetic, 3.4-MCi $^{51}$Cr neutrino source 10 times for a total of 20 independent $^{71}$Ge extractions from the two Ga targets. The $^{71}$Ge production rates from the neutrino source were measured from July 2019 to March 2020. At the end of these measurements, the counters were filled with $^{71}$Ge doped gas and calibrated during November 2020. In this paper, results from the BEST sterile neutrino oscillation experiment are presented in details. The ratio of the measured $^{71}$Ge production rates to the predicted rates for the inner and the outer target volumes are calculated from the known neutrino capture cross section. Comparable deficits in the measured ratios relative to predicted values are found for both zones, with the $4 σ$ deviations from unity consistent with the previously reported gallium anomaly. If interpreted in the context of neutrino oscillations, the deficits give best fit oscillation parameters of $Δm^2=3.3^{+\infty}_{-2.3}$ eV$^2$ and sin$^2 2θ=0.42^{+0.15}_{-0.17}$, consistent with $ν_e \rightarrow ν_s$ oscillations governed by a surprisingly large mixing angle.

Recently the Baksan Experiment on Sterile Transitions (BEST) has presented results confirming the gallium anomaly -- a lack of electron neutrinos $ν_e$ at calibrations of SAGE and GALLEX -- at the statistical significance exceeding 5$\,σ$. This result is consistent with explanation of the gallium anomaly as electron neutrino oscillations into sterile neutrino, $ν_s$. Within this explanation the BEST experiment itself provides the strongest evidence for the sterile neutrino among all the previous anomalous results in the neutrino sector. We combine the results of gallium experiments with searches for sterile neutrinos in reactor antineutrino experiments (assuming CPT-conservation in the $3+1$ neutrino sector). While the "gallium" best fit point in the model parameter space (sterile neutrino mass squared $m_{ν_s}^2\approx 1.25\,$eV$^2$, sterile-electron neutrino mixing $\sin^22θ\approx 0.34$) is excluded by these searches, a part of the BEST-favored 2$\,σ$ region with $m^2_{ν_s}>5\,$eV$^2$ is consistent with all of them. Remarkably, the regions advertised by anomalous results of the NEUTRINO-4 experiment overlap with those of the BEST experiment: the best fit point of the joint analysis is $\sin^22θ\approx 0.38$, $m_{ν_s}^2\approx7.3\,$eV$^2$, the favored region will be explored by the KATRIN experiment. The sterile neutrino explanation of the BEST results would suggest not only the extension of the Standard Model of particle physics, but also either serious modifications of the Standard Cosmological Model and Solar Model, or a specific modification of the sterile sector needed to suppress the sterile neutrino production in the early Universe and in the Sun.

The Baksan Experiment on Sterile Transitions (BEST) was designed to investigate the deficit of electron neutrinos, $ν_{e}$, observed in previous gallium-based radiochemical measurements with high-intensity neutrino sources, commonly referred to as the \textit{gallium anomaly}, which could be interpreted as evidence for oscillations between $ν_e$ and sterile neutrino ($ν_s$) states. A 3.414-MCi \nuc{51}{Cr} $ν_e$ source was placed at the center of two nested Ga volumes and measurements were made of the production of \nuc{71}{Ge} through the charged current reaction, \nuc{71}{Ga}($ν_e$,e$^-$)\nuc{71}{Ge}, at two average distances. The measured production rates for the inner and the outer targets respectively are ($54.9^{+2.5}_{-2.4}(\mbox{stat})\pm1.4 (\mbox{syst})$) and ($55.6^{+2.7}_{-2.6}(\mbox{stat})\pm1.4 (\mbox{syst})$) atoms of \nuc{71}{Ge}/d. The ratio ($R$) of the measured rate of \nuc{71}{Ge} production at each distance to the expected rate from the known cross section and experimental efficiencies are $R_{in}=0.79\pm0.05$ and $R_{out}= 0.77\pm0.05$. The ratio of the outer to the inner result is 0.97$\pm$0.07, which is consistent with unity within uncertainty. The rates at each distance were found to be similar, but 20-24\% lower than expected, thus reaffirming the anomaly. These results are consistent with $ν_e \rightarrow ν_s$ oscillations with a relatively large $Δm^2$ ($>$0.5 eV$^2$) and mixing sin$^2 2θ$ ($\approx$0.4).

We develop a "hybrid" model of the proton inelastic structure functions applicable in a wide region of invariant mass of produced states $W$ and invariant momentum transfer $Q$ including deep inelastic scattering (DIS), nucleon resonance production as well as the region close to inelastic threshold. DIS is described in terms of the parton distributions together with higher-twist corrections from an available global QCD fit. The resonant part is addressed in terms of the Breit-Wiegner contributions from five states including the $Δ(1232)$ resonance, the $N(1440)$ Roper resonance, and three effective resonances describing the second and third resonance regions. The couplings of the nucleon resonances to photon are described in terms of helicity amplitudes. The nonresonant background is addressed in terms of DIS structure functions smoothly extrapolated to low-$W$ and low-$Q$ values with the proper behavior at the real photon limit $Q^2=0$ as well as near the inelastic threshold. We independently treat the transverse $F_T$ and the longitudinal $F_L$ structure function and fix the model parameters from a global analysis of the world hydrogen electroproduction and photoproduction cross-section data. We demonstrate a very good performance of the model by comparing our predictions with data on differential cross sections and the structure functions $F_2$ and $R=F_L/F_T$.

We investigate the prospects of the SRG mission in searches for the keV-scale mass sterile neutrino dark matter radiatively decaying into active neutrino and photon. The ongoing all-sky X-ray survey of the SRG space observatory with data acquired by the ART-XC and eROSITA telescopes can provide a possibility to fully explore the resonant production mechanism of the dark matter sterile neutrino, which exploits the lepton asymmetry in the primordial plasma consistent with cosmological limits from the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis. In particular, it is shown that at the end of the four year all-sky survey, the sensitivity of the eROSITA telescope near the 3.5 keV line signal reported earlier can be comparable to that of the XMM-Newton with all collected data, which will allow one to carry out another independent study of the possible sterile neutrino decay signal in this area. In the energy range below $\approx2.4$ keV, the expected constraints on the model parameters can be significantly stronger than those obtained with XMM-Newton. From the ART-XC data, in the energy range approximately from 5 to 20 keV, it can be possible to get more stringent constraints than those obtained with NuSTAR so far. We conclude that the SRG mission has a very high potential in testing the sterile neutrino dark matter hypothesis.

Baksan Experiment on Sterile Neutrino (BEST) is presently at the stage of production of the artificial neutrino source Cr-51, the gallium exposure will start in July and proceed for three months. While aiming specifically at investigating the Gallium neutrino anomaly (SAGE and GALLEX experiments), BEST can do more and it is tempting to estimate its ability in testing sterile neutrino explanation of antineutrino (reactor) anomalies. We observe a moderate sensitivity to the region in model parameter space (sterile neutrino mass and mixing with active electron neutrino) outlined by the old reactor antineutrino anomaly and the best fit of DANSS experiment, while the Neutrino-4 favorite region falls right in the BEST ballpark. In particular, by analyzing SAGE+GALLEX and Neutrino-4 $χ^2$ distributions we find that Neutrino-4 results are fully consistent with the Gallium anomaly, the significance of the combined anomaly almost reaches 4$σ$ level. If the BEST confirms the Neutrino-4 results, the joint analysis will indicate more than 5$σ$ evidence for the sterile neutrino of eV-scale mass.

O(1) eV sterile neutrino can be responsible for a number of anomalous results of neutrino oscillation experiments. This hypothesis may be tested at short base-line neutrino oscillation experiments, several of which are either ongoing or under construction. Here we concentrate on the so-called Gallium anomaly, found by SAGE and GALLEX experiments, and its foreseeable future tests with BEST experiment at Baksan Neutrino Observatory. We start with a revision of the neutrino-gallium cross section, that is performed by utilizing the recent measurements of the nuclear final state spectra. We accordingly correct the parameters of Gallium anomaly and refine the BEST prospects in testing it and searching for sterile neutrinos. We further evolve the previously proposed idea to investigate the anomaly with Zn-65 artificial neutrino source as a next option available at BEST, and estimate its sensitivity to the sterile neutrino model parameters following the Bayesian approach. We show that after the two stages of operation BEST will make 5$σ$-discovery of the sterile neutrinos, if they are behind the Gallium anomaly.

The specially designed to fully explore the Gallium anomaly Baksan Experiment on Sterile Transitions (BEST) starts next year. We investigate the sensitivity of BEST in searches for sterile neutrino mixed with electron neutrino. Then, performing the combined analysis of all the Gallium experiments (SAGE, GALLEX, BEST) we find the regions in model parameter space (sterile neutrino mass and mixing angle), which will be excluded if BEST agrees with no sterile neutrino hypothesis. For the opposite case, if BEST observes the signal as it follows from the sterile neutrino explanation of the Gallium (SAGE and GALLEX) anomaly, we show how BEST will improve upon the present estimates of the model parameters.

The field theoretic renormalization group and operator product expansion are applied to the model of a passive scalar advected by the Gaussian velocity field with zero mean and correlation function $\proptoδ(t-t')/k^{d+\eps}$. Inertial-range anomalous exponents, identified with the critical dimensions of various scalar and tensor composite operators constructed of the scalar gradients, are calculated within the $\varepsilon$ expansion to order $\varepsilon^{3}$ (three-loop approximation), including the exponents in anisotropic sectors. The main goal of the paper is to give the complete derivation of this third-order result, and to present and explain in detail the corresponding calculational techniques. The character and convergence properties of the $\varepsilon$ expansion are discussed; the improved ``inverse'' $\varepsilon$ expansion is proposed and the comparison with the existing nonperturbative results is given.
