We propose an electronic Lévy glass built from graphene nanoribbons in the presence of regions with enhanced spin-orbit coupling. Although electrons in graphene nanoribbons present a low spin-orbit coupling strength, it can be increased by a proximity effect with an appropriate substrate. We consider graphene nanoribbons with different edge types, which contain circular regions with a tunable Rashba spin-orbit coupling, whose diameter follow a power-law distribution. We find that spin-orbital clusters induce a transition from superdiffusive to diffusive charge transport, similar to what we recently reported for nanoribbons with electrostatic clusters [Phys. Rev. B. 107, 155432 (2023)]. We also investigate spin polarization in the spin-orbital Lévy glasses, and show that a finite spin polarization can be found only in the superdiffusive regime. In contrast, the spin polarization vanishes in the diffusive regime, making the electronic Lévy glass a useful device whose electronic transmission and spin polarization can be controlled by its Fermi energy. Finally, we apply a multifractal analysis to charge transmission and spin polarization, and find that the transmission time series in the superdiffusive regime are multifractal, while they tend to be monofractal in the diffusive regime. In contrast, spin polarization time series are multifractal in both regimes, characterizing a marked difference between mesoscopic fluctuations of charge transport and spin polarization in the proposed electronic Lévy glass.

We investigate a generalized multi-orbital tight-binding model on a triangular lattice, a system prevalent in a wide range of two-dimensional materials, and particularly relevant for simulating transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers. We show that the interplay between spin-orbit coupling and different symmetry-breaking mechanisms leads to the emergence of four distinct topological phases [Eck, P., \textit{et al.}, Phys. Rev. B, 107 (11), 115130 (2023)]. Remarkably, this interplay also triggers the orbital Hall effect with distinguished characteristics. Furthermore, by employing the Landauer-Büttiker formula, we establish that in the orbital Hall insulating phase, the orbital angular momentum is carried by edge states present in nanoribbons with specific terminations. We also show that, as expected, they do not have topological protection against the disorder of the edge states belonging to a first-order topological insulator.

We investigate the orbital Hall effect through a mesoscopic device with momentum-space orbital texture that is connected to four semi-infinite terminals embedded in the Landauer-Büttiker configuration for quantum transport. We present analytical and numerical evidence that the orbital Hall current exhibits mesoscopic fluctuations, which can be interpreted in the framework of random matrix theory (RMT) (as with spin Hall current fluctuations). The mesoscopic fluctuations of orbital Hall current display two different amplitudes of 0.36 and 0.18 for weak and strong spin-orbit coupling, respectively. The amplitudes are obtained by analytical calculation via RMT and are supported by numerical calculations based on the tight-binding model. Furthermore, the orbital Hall current fluctuations lead to two relationships between the orbital Hall angle and conductivity. Finally, we confront the two relations with experimental data of the orbital Hall angle, which shows good concordance between theory and experiment.

In this work we propose an electronic Lévy flight device, analogous to a recent optical realization. To that end, we investigate the transmission of electrons in graphene nanoribbons in the presence of circular electrostatic clusters, whose diameter follow a power-law distribution. We analyze the effect of the electrostatic clusters on the electronic transport regime of the nanoribbons, in terms of its diffusion behavior. Our numerical calculations show that the presence of circular electrostatic clusters induces a transition from Lévy (superdiffusive) to diffusive transport as the energy increases. Furthermore, we argue that in our electronic Lévy flight device, superdiffusive transport is an exclusive feature of the low-energy quantum regime, while diffusive transport is a feature of the semiclassical regime. Therefore, we attribute the observed transition to the chiral symmetry breaking, once the energy moves away from the Dirac point of graphene.

We investigate the propagation of waves in one-dimensional systems with Lévy-type disorder. We perform a complete analysis of non-relativistic and relativistic wave transmission submitted to potential barriers whose width, separation or both follow Lévy distributions characterized by an exponent $0 < α<1$. For the first two cases, where one of the parameters is fixed, non-relativistic and relativistic waves present anomalous localization, $\langle T \rangle \propto L^{-α}$. However, for the latter case, in which both parameters follow a Lévy distribution, non-relativistic and relativistic waves present a transition between anomalous and standard localization as the incidence energy increases relative to the barrier height. Moreover, we obtain the localization diagram delimiting anomalous and standard localization regimes, in terms of incidence angle and energy. Finally, we verify that transmission fluctuations, characterized by its standard deviation, are universal, independent of barrier architecture, wave equation type, incidence energy and angle, further extending earlier studies on electronic localization.

Using a semiclassical approximation based on matrix integrals, we calculate several transport statistics, such as average and variance of conductance, average shot-noise power, among others, that give access to the extreme quantum regime (small channel numbers in the terminal) for broken and intact time-reversal symmetry, which the traditional random matrix approach does not access. We offer a new perspective to the problem of characterizing mesoscopic fluctuations in the inter-plateau region of the integer quantum Hall transition. We found that longitudinal and transverse conductance fluctuations, generated by varying the external magnetic field within a microscopic model, are multifractal and lead to distributions of conductance increments (magnetoconductance) with heavy tails (intermittency) and signatures of a hierarchical structure (a cascade) in the corresponding stochastic process, akin to Kolmogorov's theory of fluid turbulence. We confirm this picture by interpreting the stochastic process of the conductance increments in the framework of H-theory, which is a continuous-time stochastic approach that incorporates the basic features of Kolmogorov's theory. The multifractal analysis of the conductance "time series," combined with the H-theory formalism provides, strong support for the overall characterization of mesoscopic fluctuations in the quantum Hall transition as a multifractal stochastic phenomenon with multiscale hierarchy, intermittency, and cascade effects.

We perform a multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis of the magnetoconductance data of two standard types of mesoscopic systems: a disordered nanowire and a ballistic chaotic billiard, with two different lattice structures. We observe in all cases that multifractality is generally present and that it becomes stronger in the quantum regime of conduction, i.e., when the number of open scattering channels is small. We argue that this behavior originates from correlations induced by the magnetic field, which can be characterized through the distribution of conductance increments in the corresponding "stochastic time series," with the magnetic field playing the role of a fictitious time. More specifically, we show that the distributions of conductance increments are well fitted by $q$ Gaussians and that the value of the parameter $q$ is a useful quantitative measure of multifractality in magnetoconductance fluctuations.

Van der Waals heterostructures based on two-dimensional materials have recently become a very active topic of research in spintronics, both aiming at a fundamental description of spin dephasing processes in nanostructures and as a potential element in spin-based information processing schemes. Here, we theoretically investigate the magnetoconductance of mesoscopic devices built from graphene proximity-coupled to a high spin-orbit coupling material. Through numerically exact tight-binding simulations, we show that the interfacial breaking of inversion symmetry generates robust weak antilocalization even when the $z\rightarrow -z$ symmetric spin-orbit coupling in the quantum dot dominates over the Bychkov--Rashba interaction. Our findings are in interpreted on the light of random matrix theory, which links the observed behavior of quantum interference corrections to a transition from circular-orthogonal to circular-sympletic ensemble.

We investigate the universal properties of quantum transport in graphene nanowires that engender subtle universal conductance fluctuations. We present results for three of the main microscopic models that describe the sublattice of graphene and generate, as we shall show, all the chiral universal symmetries. The results are robust and demonstrate the widely sought sign of chirality even in the regime of many open channels. The fingerprints paves the way to distinguish systems with sublattice symmetry such as topological insulators from ordinary ones by an order of magnitude. The experimental realization requires a single measurement of the chaotic fluctuations of the associated valleytronics conductante. Through the phase coherence length, our theoretical predictions are confirmed with the data from traditional measurements in the literature concerning quantum magnetotransport.

By considering the low-energy electronic excitations as massless Dirac fermions, we compute by transmission spectra of graphene superlattices with potential barriers having spacements randomly distributed with long-range correlations governed by a power-law spectral density $S(k)\propto 1/k^α$. We show that at large incidence angles, the correlations in the disorder distribution do not play a significant role in the electronic transmission. However, long-range correlations suppress the Anderson localization as normal incidence is approached and a band of transmitting modes sets up reminiscent of Klein tunneling.

Our numerical calculations, based on the transfer matrix method, in a system with a distribution of potential barriers show that it presents a phase transition from anomalous to standard to anomalous localization as the incidence energy increases. In contrast, electronic waves described by the Schrödinger equation do not present such transitions. Moreover, we obtain the phase diagram delimiting anomalous and standard localization regimes, in the form of an incidence angle versus incidence energy diagram, and argue that transitions can also be characterized by the behavior of the dispersion of the transmission. We attribute this transition to an abrupt reduction in the transmittance of the system when the incidence angle is higher than a critical value which induces a decrease in the transmission fluctuations.

In this work we investigate the influence of a Fermi velocity modulation on the Fano factor of periodic and quasi-periodic graphene superlattices. We consider the continuum model and use the transfer matrix method to solve the Dirac-like equation for graphene where the electrostatic potential, energy gap and Fermi velocity are piecewise constant functions of the position x. We found that in the presence of an energy gap, it is possible to tune the energy of the Fano factor peak and consequently the location of the Dirac point, by a modulations in the Fermi velocity. Hence, the peak of the Fano factor can be used experimentally to identify the Dirac point. We show that for higher values of the Fermi velocity the Fano factor goes below 1/3 in the Dirac point. Furthermore, we show that in periodic superlattices the location of Fano factor peaks is symmetric when the Fermi velocity $v_A$ and $v_B$ is exchanged, however by introducing quasi-periodicity the symmetry is lost. The Fano factor usually holds a universal value for a specific transport regime, which reveals that the possibility of controlling it in graphene is a notable result.

The current manuscript employs the parity and time reversal symmetry in the Hanbury Brown-Twiss experiment. For this purpose, we develop a general scattering matrix framework founded on the concatenation of many individual compounded scattering processes on the setup. In this way, we derive the general scattering matrix of a parity and time reversal symmetric Hanbury Brown-Twiss experiment (HBT-PT). Within such scattering formulation, we propose a theoretical framework which provides how to measure the symmetry of the system through the correlation function of a pair of particles transmitted through the leads. The correlation function naturally reveal the quantum statistics of both bosons and fermions and demonstrate a very preponderant role of PT symmetry on the HBT experiment. Physical implementations of these billiards range from quantum dots of graphene to topological insulators structures. We show, in particular, that the role of finite crossover fields between the universal symmetries quickly leaves the conductance to the asymptotic limit of unitary ensembles. Furthermore, we show that the dephasing mechanisms strikingly lead Dirac billiards from the extreme quantum regime to the semiclassical Gaussian regime.

We derive analytical expressions for the correlation functions of the electronic conductance fluctuations of an open quantum dot under several conditions. Both the variation of energy and that of an external parameter such as an applied perpendicular or parallel magnetic fields are considered in the general case of partial openness.. These expressions are then used to obtain the ensemble averaged density of maxima, a measure recently suggested to contain invaluable information concerning the chaoticity of the system. The correlation width is then calculated for the case of energy variation and a significant deviation from the Weisskopf estimate is found in the case of two terminals. The results are extended to more than two terminals. All our results are analytical. The use of these results in other fields, such as nuclei, where the system can only be studied through a variation of the energy, is then discussed.

We present analytical and numerical results that demonstrate the presence of anomalous entanglement behavior on the Dirac Billiards. We investigate the statistical distribution of the characteristic entangled measures, focusing on the mean, on the variance and on the quantum interference terms. We show a quite distinct behavior of the Dirac Billiard compared with the non-relativist (Schrodinger) ones. Particularly, we show a very plausible Bell state and a sharp amplitude of quantum interference term on entangled electrons left from the Dirac Billiards. The results have remarkable relevance to the novel quantum dots build of materials like graphene or topological insulators.

We present analytical and numerical results that demonstrate the presence of the Braess paradox in chaotic quantum dots. The paradox that we identify, originally perceived in classical networks, shows that the addition of more capacity to the network can suppress the current flow in the universal regime. We investigate the weak localization term, showing that it presents the paradox encoded in a saturation minimum of the conductance, under the presence of hyperflow in the external leads. In addition, we demonstrate that the weak localization suffers a transition signal depending on the overcapacity lead and presents an echo on the magnetic crossover before going to zero due to the full time-reversal symmetry breaking. We also show that the quantum interference contribution can dominate the Ohm term in the presence of constrictions and that the corresponding Fano factor engenders an anomalous behavior

We study the effects of spin accumulation (inside reservoirs) on electronic transport with tunneling and reflections at the gates of a quantum dot. Within the stub model, the calculation focus on the current-current correlation function for the flux of electrons injected into the quantum dot. The linear response theory used allows to obtain the noise power in the regime of thermal crossover as a function of parameters that reveal the spin polarization at the reservoirs. The calculation is performed employing diagrammatic integration within the universal groups (ensembles of Dyson) for a non-ideal, non-equilibrium chaotic quantum dot. We show that changes in the spin distribution determines significant alteration in noise behavior at values of the tunneling rates close to zero, in the regime of strong reflection at the gates.

We use standard diagrammatic procedure to integrate on the unitary group, to study the main term in the semiclassical expansion of the noise in the three pure Wigner-Dyson ensembles at finite frequency and temperature, in the noninteracting and interacting regimes. We investigate several limits, related to the temperature and the potential difference in the leads, in the presence of a capacitive environment. At the thermal crossover regime, we obtain general expressions described in terms of parameters that can be controlled experimentally. As an interesting result, we show the appearance of asymmetries in the noise, controlled by the topology of the cavity and the number of open channels in the corresponding terminals.

The result explicitly demonstrates that the temperature affect the suppression-amplification effect present in the main quantum noise. In particular, the weak localization contribution to the noise has an anomalous thermal behavior when one let the barriers vary, indicating the presence of a critical point related to specific value of the tunneling barriers. The equations are calculated from a diagrammatic technique for performing averages over the unitary group, proposed by Brouwer and Beenakker [J. Math. Phys. 37, 4904 (1996)]. We give strong analytical evidences that these equations are equivalent to a much simpler polynomial equation calculated from a recent extension of Nazarov's circuit theory [A. M. S. Macedo, Phys. By generalizing the Hodge dual operator to the case of soldered bundles, and working in the context of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity, an analysis of the duality symmetry in gravitation is performed. Although the basic conclusion is that, at least in the general case, gravitation is not dual symmetric, there is a particular theory in which this symmetry shows up. It is a self dual (or anti-self dual) teleparallel gravity in which, due to the fact that it does not contribute to the interaction of fermions with gravitation, the purely tensor part of torsion is assumed to vanish. The ensuing fermionic gravitational interaction is found to be chiral. Since duality is intimately related to renormalizability, this theory may eventually be more amenable to renormalization than teleparallel gravity or general relativity.

The cosmological constant Lambda, which has seemingly dominated the primaeval Universe evolution and to which recent data attribute a significant present-time value, is shown to have an algebraic content: it is essentially an eigenvalue of a Casimir invariant of the Lorentz group which acts on every tangent space. This is found in the context of de Sitter spacetimes but, as every spacetime is a 4-manifold with Minkowski tangent spaces, the result suggests the existence of a "skeleton" algebraic structure underlying the geometry of general physical spacetimes. Different spacetimes come from the "fleshening" of that structure by different tetrad fields. Tetrad fields, which provide the interface between spacetime proper and its tangent spaces, exhibit to the most the fundamental role of the Lorentz group in Riemannian spacetimes, a role which is obscured in the more usual metric formalism.

A geometrization of the Yang-Mills field, by which an SU(2) gauge theory becomes equivalent to a 3-space geometry - or optical system - is examined. In a first step, ambient space remains Euclidean and current problems on flat space can be looked at from a new point of view. The Wu-Yang ambiguity, for example, appears related to the multiple possible torsions of distinct metric-preserving connections. In a second step, also the ambient space becomes curved. In general, the strictly Riemannian, metric sector plays the role of an arbitrary host space, with the gauge field represented by a contorsion. For some field configurations, however, it is possible to obtain a purely metric representation. In those cases, if the space is symmetric homogeneous the Christoffel connections are automatically solutions of the Yang-Mills equations.

When the gauge group has dimension four, the vector space isomorphism between spacetime and the gauge algebra is realized by a tetrad-like field. The object measuring the deviation from a strict bundle structure has the formal behavior of a spacetime connection, of which the deformed gauge field-strength is the torsion. A generalized derivative emerges in terms of which the two Bianchi identities are formally recovered. Effects of gravitational type turn up. The dynamical equations obtained correspond to a broken gauge model on a curved spacetime.

When Λ--> infinity, spacetime becomes a four-dimensional cone, dual to Minkowski space by a spacetime inversion. This inversion relates the four-cone vertex to the infinity of Minkowski space, and the four-cone infinity to the Minkowski light-cone. The non-relativistic limit c --> infinity is further considered, the kinematical group in this case being a modified Galilei group in which the space and time translations are replaced by the non-relativistic limits of the corresponding proper conformal transformations. This group presents the same abstract Lie algebra as the Galilei group and can be named the conformal Galilei group. The results may be of interest to the early Universe Cosmology.
