Mod $p$ Buchstaber invariant
Abstract: We investigate the mod $p$ Buchstaber invariant of the skeleta of simplices, for a prime number $p$, and compare them for different values of $p$. For $p=2$, the invariant is the real Buchstaber invariant. Our findings reveal that these values are generally distinct. Additionally, we determine or estimate the mod $p$ Buchstaber invariants of certain universal simplicial complexes $X(\F_p^n)$.

Chromatic numbers for facet colouring of some generalised associahedra
Abstract: The chromatic number related to a colouring of facets of certain classes of generalised associahedra is studied. The exact values are obtained for permutohedra, associahedra and simple permutoassociahedra, while lower and upper bounds are established for cyclohedra and stellohedra. The asymptotic values of the chromatic numbers for associahedra, cyclohedra and simple permutoassociahedra are given.

Orthogonality related to Steiner and Pappus chains
Abstract: The focus of this paper is on the study of specific circle formations known as orthogonal Pappus chains and the related incidence results that involve points of tangency between the circles in the construction. These chains give rise to new circle families, with their centres on a conic. The paper also explores similar questions for Steiner chains, although it is demonstrated that orthogonality ca… ▽ More

The Magic Permutohedron
Abstract: We present a configuration called a magic permutohedron that shows the placement of the numbers of $\{1, 2, 3, \dots, 24\}$ in the vertices of the permutohedra so that the sum of numbers on each square side is 50 and the sum of the numbers in each hexagonal side is 75.

Existence of a small cover over a 15-colorable simple 4-polytope
Abstract: The chromatic number for properly colouring the facets of a combinatorial simple $n$-polytope $P^n$ that is the orbit space of a quasitoric manifold satisfies the inequality $n\leq P^n\leq 2^n-1$. The inequality is sharp for $n=2$ but not for $n=3$ due to the Four Color theorem. In this note, we construct a simple 4-polytope admitting a characteristic map whose chromatic number equals $15$ and ded… ▽ More

Universal complexes in toric topology
Abstract: We study combinatorial and topological properties of the universal complexes $X(\mathbb{F}_p^n)$ and $K(\mathbb{F}_p^n)$ whose simplices are certain unimodular subsets of $\mathbb{F}_p^n$. We calculate their $\mathbf f$-vectors and their Tor-algebras, show that they are shellable but not shifted, and find their applications in toric topology and number theory. Homology of polyomino tilings on flat surfaces
Abstract: The homology group of a tiling introduced by M. Reid is studied for certain topological tilings. As in the planar case, for finite square grids on topological surfaces, the method of homology groups, namely the non-triviality of some specific element in the group allows a `coloring proof' of impossibility of a tiling. Several results about the non-existence of polyomino tilings on certain square-t… ▽ More

Proofs and surfaces
Abstract: A formal sequent system dealing with Menelaus' configurations is introduced in this paper. The axiomatic sequents of the system stem from 2-cycles of Delta-complexes. The Euclidean and projective interpretations of the sequents are defined and a soundness result is proved. This system is decidable and its provable sequents deliver incidence results. A cyclic operad structure tied to this system is… ▽ More

Orthogonal shadows and index of Grassmann manifolds
Abstract: In this paper we study the $\Z/2$ action on real Grassmann manifolds $G_{n}(\R^{2n})$ and $\widetilde{G}_{n}(\R^{2n})$ given by taking (appropriately oriented) orthogonal complement. We completely evaluate the related $\Z/2$ Fadell--Husseini index utilizing a novel computation of the Stiefel--Whitney classes of the wreath product of a vector bundle. Comments: In the previous preprint, there were gaps in the proofs that $K(\mathbb{Z}^n)$ and $X(\mathbb{Z}^n)$ and their links of its simplices have homotopy type of a wedge of countable infinite number of spheres $S^{n-1}$. The fact was pointed to the authors by unanimous referee who read the previous version carefully. The result is proved using direct approach instead of using discrete Morse functions

A simple permutoassociahedron
Abstract: In the early 1990s, a family of combinatorial CW-complexes named permutoassociahedra was introduced by Kapranov, and it was realized by Reiner and Ziegler as a family of convex polytopes. The polytopes in this family are "hybrids" of permutohedra and associahedra. Since permutohedra and associahedra are simple, it is natural to search for a family of simple permutoassociahedra, which is still adeq… ▽ More

Surprising Examples of Manifolds in Toric Topology!

Quasitoric manifolds and Small covers over properly colored polytopes: Immersions and Embeddings
Abstract: We construct small covers and quasitoric manifolds over $n$-dimensional simple polytopes which allow proper colorings of facets with $n$ colors. We calculate Stiefel-Whitney classes of these manifolds as obstructions to immersions and embeddings into Euclidean spaces. The largest dimension required for embedding is achieved in the case $n$ is a power of two.

A note on the combinatorial structure of finite and locally finite simplicial complexes of nonpositive curvature
Abstract: We investigate the collapsibility of systolic finite simplicial complexes of arbitrary dimension. The main tool we use in the proof is discrete Morse theory.
